Temperature dependence of dielectric breakdown of silicone-based dielectric elastomers

A large number of insulation/dielectric failures in power systems are related to thermally-induced dielectrical breakdown,also known as‘thermal breakdown’,at higher operating *** this work,the thermal breakdown behavior of typical silicone formulations,used as dielectrics in stretchable electronic devices,is analyzed at practically relevant operating temperatures ranging from 20℃ to 80℃.An effective way of delaying the thermal breakdown of insulating materials is to blend micro-or nano-sized inorganic particles with high thermal conductivity,to dissipate better any losses generated during energy ***,two types of commercial silicone formulations,blended with two types of rutile hydrophobic,high-dielectric TiO_(2) fillers,are investigated in relation to their dielectric properties,namely,relative permittivity,the dissipation factor,and electrical breakdown *** breakdown strengths of these silicone composites are subsequently evaluated using Weibull analysis,which indicates a negative correlation between temperature and shape parameter for all compositions,thus illustrating that the homogeneity of the samples decreases in line with temperature,but the breakdown strengths nevertheless increase initially due to the trapping effect from the high-permittivity fillers.

In two recently published papers in Nature,^(1,2)Logan Walsh and colleagues utilized imaging mass cytometry(IMC)to create comprehensive single-cell spatial landscapes of the tumor immune microenvironment(TIME)in lung tumors from 416 lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)patients,as well as brain tumors from 139 high-grade glioma and 46 brain metastasis(BrM)*** conducting a thorough analysis to characterize cellular spatial interactions and neighborhood patterns,and correlating these spatial features with clinical outcomes(Fig.1),the researchers gained novel insights into the complexities of tumoral ***,they identified two sets of clinically relevant predictive immune markers that could be used to assist in guiding clinical decisions.

A methodology for identifying and calibrating the material parameters for a coupled hydro-mechanical problem is presented in this pape *** validation purpose,a laboratory-based water infiltration test was numerically simulated using finite element method(FEM).The test was conducted using a self-designed column-type experimental device,which mimicked the wetting process of a candidate backfill material in a nuclear waste *** real-time measurements of key state variables(*** content,relative humidity,temperature,and total stresses)were performed with the monitoring sensors along the height of cylindrical soil *** numerical simulation,the modified Barcelona Basic Model(BBM)along with soil-water retention model for compacted bentonite was *** shows that the identified model parameters successfully captured the moisture migration process under an applied hydraulic gradient in a bentonite-based compacted soil sample.A comparison between the measured and predicted values of total stresses both in axial and lateral directions along with other state variables revealed that heterogeneous moisture content was distributed along the hydration-path,resulting in non-uniform stress-deformation characteristics of soil.

Monitoring of host cell proteins(HCPs)during the manufacturing of monoclonal antibodies(mAb)has become a critical requirement to provide effective and safe drug ***-linked immunosorbent assays are still the gold standard methods for the quantification of protein ***,this technique has several limitations and does,among others,not enable the precise identification of *** this context,mass spectrometry(MS)became an alternative and orthogonal method that delivers qualitative and quantitative information on all identified ***,in order to be routinely implemented in biopharmaceutical companies,liquid chromatography-MS based methods still need to be standardized to provide highest sensitivity and robust and accurate ***,we present a promising MS-based analytical workflow coupling the use of an innovative quantification standard,the HCP Profiler solution,with a spectral library-based data-independent acquisition(DIA)method and strict data validation *** performances of the HCP Profiler solution were compared to more conventional standard protein spikes and the DIA approach was benchmarked against a classical datadependent acquisition on a series of samples produced at various stages of the manufacturing *** we also explored spectral library-free DIA interpretation,the spectral library-based approach still showed highest accuracy and reproducibility(coefficients of variation<10%)with a sensitivity down to the sub-ng/mg mAb ***,this workflow is today mature to be used as a robust and straightforward method to support mAb manufacturing process developments and drug products quality control.

The 17q12-21 locus harboring ORMDL sphingolipid biosynthesis regulator 3(ORMDL3)and Gasdermin B(GSDMB)genes exhibits one of the most significant and replicated associations with asthma[MIM:600807](Stein et al.,2018).Several studies explored the complex interactions between SNPs,gene expression and epigenetic modifications at this locus,primarily focusing on the levels of expressed ORMDL3 and GSDMB(Stein et al.,2018).Given that DNA methylation and gene expression signals are cell-type specific(Reinius et al.,2012),isolated materials such as lymphocytes from blood and,to a lesser extent,bronchial epithelial cells from biopsies of bronchi or bronchoalveolar lavages have been used in a number of studies to investigate such interactions(Stein et al.,2018).

Phytic acid (PA) is the primary storage compound of phosphorus in seeds accounting for up to 80% of the total seed phosphorus and contributing as much as 1.5% to the seed dry weight. The negatively charged phosphate in PA strongly binds to metallic cations of Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn and Zn making them insoluble and thus unavailable as nutritional factors. Phytate mainly accumulates in protein storage vacuoles as globoids, predominantly located in the aleurone layer (wheat, barley and rice) or in the embryo (maize). During germination, phytate is hydrolysed by endogenous phytase(s) and other phosphatases to release phosphate, inositol and micronutrients to support the emerging seedling. PA and its derivatives are also implicated in RNA export, DNA repair, signalling, endocytosis and cell vesicular trafficking. Our recent studies on purification of phytate globoids, their mineral composition and dephytinization by wheat phytase will be discussed. Biochemical data for purified and characterized phytases isolated from more than 23 plant species are presented, the dephosphorylation pathways of phytic acid by different classes of phytases are compared, and the application of phytase in food and feed is discussed.

Systemic inflammation is a marker of poor prognosis preoperatively present in around 20%-40%of colorectal cancer *** hallmarks of systemic inflammation include an increased production of proinflammatory cytokines and acute phase proteins that enter the *** the low-level systemic inflammation is often clinically silent,its consequences are many and may ultimately lead to chronic cancer-associated wasting,*** this review,we discuss the pathogenesis of cancer-related systemic inflammation,explore the role of systemic inflammation in promoting cancer growth,escaping antitumor defense,and shifting metabolic pathways,and how these changes are related to less favorable outcome.
