Objective:To investigate the antifertility effect of chronically administered Tabernaemontana divarkala(***) leaf extract on male ***:The effect of 50%ethanol extract of *** leaves on reproduction was studied on male *** study was divided into four groups of five animals *** first groups(1) received vehicle alone to serve as control. The second,third and fourth groups(Ⅱ,ⅡandⅣ) of animals were administered the leaf extract daily at 50 mg/kg body weight,p.o.,100 nig/kg body weight,p.o.,and 200 mg/kg body weight, p.o.,respectively,for a period of 60 ***:Significant decreases in the weight of testes, epididymis,seminal vesicle and ventral prostate were observed.A dose related reduction in the testicular sperm count,epididymal sperm count and motility,number of fertile male,ratio between delivered and inseminated females and numbers of pups were *** testis showed a clear correlation between the dose and severity of lesions of seminiferous epithelium. In general,the seminiferous tubules appear reduced in size with a frequently filled eosinophilic *** arrested at the secondary spermatocyte *** spermatocytes were undergoing *** and sloughing of immature germ cell were visible. AIM:To study the in vivo anti-inflammatory activity of Tabernaemontana divaricata leaf extract on male albino ***:Aqueous decoction and methanol leaf extracts were tested for their ability to reduce croton oil-induced edema in the mouse ear after topical *** methanol leaf extract dose-dependently inhibited the croton oil-induced ear edema in mice(ID50<500μg·cm 2).A bioassay-guided liquid–liquid fractionation of this methanol extract gave four active fractions:water insoluble(F1),hexane(F2),ethyl acetate(F3)and water(F4).RESULTS:The hexane fraction showed a very high activity(42.1%inhibition at0.7μg·cm 2)as compared to the *** other fractions were less active(F1:56.1%at 506.2μg·cm-2;F3:57.3%at 289.3μg·cm 2;and F4:31.9%for 203.8μg·cm 2)while indomethacin gave 48.8%of inhibition at 90μg·cm *** activity of F1 and F3 may be at least in part explained by the presence of anti-inflammatory flavonoids,while the activity was not correlated to the tannin *** compounds were detected in the most active F2 ***:The results give a rational support to the traditional use of *** in tropical India as anti-inflammatory agent.

Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the third most common cancer diagnosed worldwide in human beings. Surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and targeted therapiesare the conventional four approaches which are currently used for the treatment of CRC. The site specific delivery of chemotherapeutics to their site of action would increase effectiveness with reducing side effects. Targeted oral drug delivery systems based on polysaccharides are being investigated to target and deliver chemotherapeutic and chemopreventive agents directly to colon and rectum. Site-specific drug delivery to colon increases its concentration at the target site, and thus requires a lower dose and hence abridged side effects. Some novel therapies are also briefly discussed in article such as receptor(epidermal growth factor receptor, folate receptor, wheat germ agglutinin, VEGF receptor, hyaluronic acid receptor) based targeting therapy; colon targeted proapoptotic anticancer drug delivery system, gene therapy. Even though good treatment options are available for CRC, the ultimate therapeutic approach is to avert the incidence of CRC. It was also found that CRCs could be prevented by diet and nutrition such as calcium, vitamin D, curcumin, quercetin and fish oil supplements. Immunotherapy and vaccination are used nowadays which are showing better results against CRC.

Primary left pulmonary vein stenosis is a very rare condition. It is associated with variable form of Pulmonary artery hypertension. Catheter based intervention is used to treat the disease like balloon dilation and stenting but this has high recurrence rate. Here is a case in which we did a sutureless repair of left pulmonary vein thus decreasing the possibility of recurrence. Sutureless surgical management is technically superior and less challenging than direct left atrial wall anastomosis and it provides better results than catheter based intervention in terms of recurrence of stenosis.

R-spondins are secretory proteins localized in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi bodies and are processed through the secretory *** the R-spondin family,RSPO2 has emanated as a novel regulator of Wnt signaling,which has now been acknowledged in numerous in vitro and in vivo *** is an abnormal growth of cells that proliferates and spreads uncontrollably due to the accumulation of genetic and epigenetic factors that constitutively activate Wnt signaling in various types of *** cancer (CRC) begins when cells in the colon and rectum follow an indefinite pattern of division due to aberrant Wnt activation as one of the key ***-long progress in research on R-spondins has demonstrated their oncogenic function in distinct cancer types,particularly *** a critical regulator of the Wnt pathway,it modulates several phenotypes of cells,such as cell proliferation,invasion,migration,and cancer stem cell ***,RSPO mutations,gene rearrangements,fusions,copy number alterations,and altered gene expression have also been identified in a variety of cancers,including *** this review,we addressed the recent updates regarding the recurrently altered R-spondins with special emphasis on the RSPO2 gene and its involvement in potentiating Wnt signaling in *** addition to the compelling physiological and biological roles in cellular fate and regulation,we propose that RSPO2 would be valuable as a potential biomarker for prognostic,diagnostic,and therapeutic use in CRC.

A sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (SOVA) is abnormal dilatation of the either aortic sinuses, area of the aortic root between the aortic valve annulus and the sinotubular junction. Their clinical presentation may range from being asymptomatic as an incidental finding on cardiac imaging to symptomatic presentations related to the compression of adjoining structures or intracardiac shunting caused by rupture of the SOVA mostly into the right side of the heart. The compression leads to findings of tricuspid valve regurgitation, right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) obstruction and rarely complete heart block (CHB). Dissection or erosion into interventricular septum is one of the rarest complications of SOVA. The symptomatic presentation is almost always a surgical emergency. Here we present a case report of a patient with unruptured sinus of valsalva originating from right sinus dissecting into interventricular septum causing complete heart bock. In this case after surgical correction the complete heart block reverted to sinus rhythm.

<i>In Vitro</i>Studies on Sida Cordifolia Linn for Anthelmintic and Antioxidant Properties

The present study was undertaken to evaluate in-vitro antioxidant and anthelmintic activity of ethanolic and aqueous extract from whole plant Sida cordifolia Linn (Malvaceae). The antioxidant activities are evaluated by various antioxidant assays like α, α-Diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging, total reducing power, nitric oxide scavenging and hydrogen peroxide scavenging. The various antioxidant activities were compared to standard antioxidants such as ascorbic acid. The antioxidant activity of ethanolic extract is almost quantitatively equivalent to that of the standards used, ascorbic acid. The further anthelmintic activity of whole plant is investigated through using Indian earthworm (Pheretima posthuma) showed that it is one of the most important local medicinal plants both for ritual and ethnomedical practices. Various concentrations of ethanol and aqueous extract (10, 20, 30, 40 mg/ml) of whole plant of Sida cordifolia Linn were tested in the bioassay, which involve determination of time of paralysis of the worms. Albendazole was included as reference standard. The most activity was observed with aqueous extract as compared to standard drug. The results from the above studies indicate that plant Sida cordifolia Linn. possesses potent antioxidant and anthelmintic activity.

BACKGROUND The utility of D-dimer(DD)as a biomarker for acute aortic dissection(AD)is ***,its predictive value for in-hospital mortality remains uncertain and subject to conflicting *** To conduct a meta-analysis of AD-related in-hospital mortality(ADIM)with elevated DD *** We searched PubMed,Scopus,Embase,and Google Scholar for AD and ADIM literature through May *** was assessed using I2 statistics and effect size(hazard or odds ratio)analysis with random-effects *** size,study type,and patients’mean age were used for subgroup *** significance threshold was P60 *** and larger sample size studies(n>250)demonstrated a heightened likelihood of ADIM associated with elevated DD levels(effect size:2.57,95%CI:1.30-5.08,P<0.01 vs effect size:1.05,95%CI:1.00-1.11,P=0.05,respectively).CONCLUSION Our meta-analysis shows elevated DD increases in-hospital mortality risk in AD patients,highlighting the need for larger,prospective studies to improve risk prediction models.
