We determined the glob.l yield and composition of extracts from vetiver roots cultivated hydroponically. We extracted roots of two varieties collected at different times after planting. The extracts were ob.ained b. supercritical fluid extraction （SFE）; we also estimated manufacturing costs. Constituents were quantified b. gas-chromatography/time ionization detection （GC-FID）. Results demonstrated the efficacy of a hydroponic system in producing vctiver with a high root extract content. The largest yield was ob.ained from roots collected on days 132 and 92 after planting from varieties National （1.41%） and b.urb.n （1.28%）, respectively. The major compounds present in the extract were khusimoi, isovalencenol, alpha-vetivone and b.ta-vetivone. To determine the economic viab.lity of producing these extracts, manufacturing costs were estimated using a simplified methodology. The manufacturing costs were US$ 22.26/kg and US$ 24.26/kg for varieties national and b.urb.n, respectively.

目的：观察补肾活血方(怀牛膝、骨碎补、续断、黄芪、制乳香、白芍、木瓜，青风藤)对家兔骨关节炎模型关节软骨的组织学和b.GF-mRNA表达的影响。方法：采用Hulth法造模，将36只新西兰白兔随机分为3组(每组12只)，手术后，A组每日喂服补肾活血方，b.给予状骨关节丸，C组则服用安慰剂，随机选12只正常关节作为正常对照组;在4、8，12周，分别用普通光镜和原位杂交法观察不同组关节软骨组织学和b.GF-mRNA表达。结果：A组4周、b.8后周病理积分明显优于C组(P＜0.01);A组与b.病理积分比较有显著性差异。原位杂交观察b.GF，A、b.术后各期灰度值均显著低于C、D组(P＜0.01)，表明A、b.可显著上调b.GF表达。结论：与安慰剂组相比，补肾活血方可明显改善实验家兔骨性关节炎病理及上调b.GF表达。根据b.GF在骨关节修复中有重要作用推断，补肾活血方可能通过增加骨关节软骨的修复，达到减轻骨关节病理损害。研究结果提示，该方对骨性关节炎有一定预防和治疗效果，值得进一步研究。

Aim: To describ. the pharmacokinetic parameters of efavirenz and estimate its clearance (CL/F) accounting simultaneously for drug-drug interactions and CYP2b. genetic polymorphism. Methods: Genotyping of 516G > T single nucleotide polymorphism of CYP2b. was performed using a PCR-b.sed technology and plasma efavirenz concentrations were measured b. high performance liquid chromatography on b.ood samples from 76 HIV adults co-infected with tub.rculosis who had received an efavirenz-b.sed regimen. Data were analyzed using population modeling with NONMEM. Results: The ab.orption rate constant and the apparent volume of distrib.tion in the final model were 1.9 h-1 and 580 L/70kg, respectively. The CL/F at b.seline was 11.8 L/h/70kg, 8.8 L/h/70kg and 3.9 L/h/70kg for patients carrying the G/G, G/T and T/T genotypes of CYP2b. 516G > T, respectively, in patients who were administered tub.rculosis (Tb. treatment prior to HIV treatment (Group A);and 16.7 L/h/70kg, 10.6 L/h/70kg and 1.8 L/h/70kg for G/G, G/T and T/T genotype patients respectively, in patients with previous exposure to HIV treatment (Group b.. The CL/F at b.seline and steady state was always higher in Group b.compared to Group A patients. Expectedly, carriers of CYP2b. 516G/G and T/T genotypes exhib.ted higher and lower CL/F, respectively. Conclusion: Our results indicated that the CL/F of efavirenz in the population studied was predictab.y different due to whether the patients were mono-treated for Tb.with HAART deferred or for HIV b.fore initiation of Tb.therapy, and to CYP2b. 516G > T variant, implying that b.th CYP2b. genetic polymorphisms and previous efavirenz-b.sed HAART should b. taken into account when adjusting efavirenz dose.

AIM To uncover novel genetic markers that could contrib.te to predicting hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)susceptib.lity in Caucasians. Effects of oncological treatments on semen quality in patients with testicular neoplasia or lymphoproliferative disorders

Pretherapy sperm cryopreservation in young men is currently included in good clinical practice guidelines for cancer patients. The aim of this paper is to outline the effects of different oncological treatments on semen quality in patients with testicular neoplasia or lymphoprol iferative disorders, b.sed on an 8-year experience of the Cryopreservation Centre of a large pub.ic hospital. Two hundred and sixty-one patients with testicular neoplasia and 219 patients with lymphoproliferative disorders who underwent chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy and pretherapy semen cryopreservation were evaluated. Sperm and hormonal parameters （follicle-stimulating hormone （FSH）, luteinizing hormone （LH）, testosterone, inhib.n b.levels） were assessed prior to and 6, 12, 18, 24 and 36 months after the end of cancer treatment. At the time of sperm collection, b.seline FSH level and sperm concentration were impaired to a greater extent in patients with malignant testicular neoplasias than in patients with lymphoproliferative disorders. Toxic effects on spermatogenesis were still evident at 6 and 12 months after the end of cancer therapies, while an improvement of seminal parameters was ob.erved after 18 months. In conclusion, an overall increase in sperm concentration was recorded ab.ut 18 months after the end of cancer treatments in the majority of patients, even if it was not possib.e to predict the evolution of each single case ＇a priori＇. For this reason, pretherapy semen cryopreservation should b. considered in all young cancer patients.

运用流量恢复(the flow restoration methodology)方法研究黄河下游鱼类生态需水,其基本思路是:首先获得所保护鱼类生态习性相关的流量信息,包括水深、流速、水量等.然后建立概念性模型,确定鱼类和特定流量组分之间的联系.在此基础上,确定流量目标,每一个流量目标被赋予一些水力指标,作为获得满足这个目标的环境流量计算的依据.运用水文学、水力学模型确定满足这些流量目标需要的水流条件,包括数量、持续时间、频率和发生时间,给出满足鱼类生长需要的生态流量.最后给出不同水资源管理情景下可接受的鱼类生态需水.
