Generating intense ultrashort pulses with high-quality spatial modes is crucial for ultrafast and strong-field science and can be achieved by nonlinear supercontinuum generation(SCG)and pulse *** this work,we propose that the generation of quasi-stationary solitons in periodic layered Kerr media can greatly enhance the nonlinear lightmatter interaction and fundamentally improve the performance of SCG and pulse compression in condensed *** both experimental and theoretical studies,we successfully identify these solitary modes and reveal their unified condition for ***-time coupling is shown to strongly influence the stability of solitons,leading to variations in the spectral,spatial and temporal profiles of femtosecond *** advantage of the unique characteristics of these solitary modes,we first demonstrate single-stage SCG and the compression of femtosecond pulses from 170 to 22 fs with an efficiency>85%.The high spatiotemporal quality of the compressed pulses is further confirmed by highharmonic *** also provide evidence of efficient mode self-cleaning,which suggests rich spatiotemporal self-organization of the laser beams in a nonlinear resonator This work offers a route towards highly efficient,simple,stable and highly flexible SCG and pulse compression solutions for state-of-the-art ytterbium laser technology.

BACKGROUND Clinically significant portal hypertension(CSPH) and severe portal hypertension(SPH) increase the risk for decompensation and life-threatening complications in liver cirrhosis. Pathologic angiogenesis might contribute to the formation of these conditions. Placental growth factor(PlGF) and Nogo-A protein are biomarkers of pathological angiogenesis, but data on their role in liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension is *** To determine plasma levels of PlGF and Nogo-A in patients with liver cirrhosis,CSPH, SPH and potential to predict portal *** A cohort of 122 patients with hepatitis C virus and/or alcohol-induced liver cirrhosis with characterized hepatic venous pressure gradient(HVPG) were included in the study. Demographic data, medical history, Child-Turcotte-Pugh and Model of End Stage liver disease score, clinical chemistry, liver stiffnessvalues were recorded on the day of the procedure prior HVPG measurement. The degree of portal hypertension was determined by the invasive HVPG measurement. Nogo-A and PlGF plasma levels were evaluated using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The control group consisted of 30 healthy age-and sex-matched *** Peripheral PlGF levels were higher and Nogo-A levels were lower in patients with liver cirrhosis(23.20 vs 9.85;P < 0.0001 and 2.19 vs 3.12;P = 0.004 respectively). There was a positive linear correlation between peripheral levels of PlGF and HVPG(r = 0.338, P = 0.001) and negative linear correlation between the peripheral Nogo-A levels and HVPG(r =-0.267, P = 0.007). PlGF levels were higher in CSPH and SPH(P = 0.006;P < 0.0001) whereas Nogo-A levels were lower(P = 0.01;P < 0.033). Area under the curve for the diagnosis of CSPH for PlGF was 0.68(P = 0.003) and for Nogo-A-0.67(P = 0.01);for SPH 0.714(P <0.0001) and 0.65(P = 0.014) respectively. The paper present the fuzzy logic expert system called MADSYS for an investor’s portfolio allocation by financial asset classes. MADSYS system will be used in the interface agent (agents) of multi-agent investment management information system. One of the principal tasks of the multi-agent system is to help an investor to make investment decisions and to provide appropriate investment proposals according to the investor’s profile. From MADSYS depends a lot of things, namely the multi-agent investment management information system accuracy, proposed investment decisions, the right portfolio allocation of financial assets, reliability and investor satisfaction. The usage of MADSYS system in the multi-agent system makes it more intellectual, i. e. the system will be able to adjust automatically to the changing of investor profile. Potential risk factors of food allergy in children: EuroPrevall project results in Vilnius, Lithuania

Objectives: In recent decades, the prevalence of allergic diseases, including food allergy, has been increasing. This is becoming an important health problem. Many risk factors of food allergy were identified recently, and many of them still are controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential risk factors of food allergy in child population following the methodology of the EuroPrevall project. Methods: Vilnius University was a partner in the EuroPrevall integrated project “The prevalence cost and basis of food allergy in Europe”, which is an EU-funded multi-disciplinary research study. A case-control study design was used to address the study question. All subjects were assessed by means of questionnaire and blood sample test for specific immunoglobulin E. Possible risk factors like mother’s addictions (smoking, alcohol drinking during pregnancy), infant low birth weight and nursing duration, gender, treatment with antibiotics during first two years of life were analysed. Multiple logistic regression was used for risk factor analysis. Results: No statistically significant associations were found between risk factors and food allergy. Only gender (male) (ORa = 3.36, 95% CI 1.17-9.63) and mother’s food allergy (ORa = 5.44, 95% CI 1.19-24.97) were directly associated with child’s food allergy. Because of the presence of those both two factors (gender (male) + mother’s allergy), the risk for food allergy increased particularly—OR was 18.31 (95% CI 2.01-166.07). Conclusion: Gender (male) and mother’s food allergy are the most important risk factors directly associated with children’s food allergy.

During the development of the intellectual multi-agent investment management information system (designed for the formation of investor"s investment decisions), it was established that there is a lack of both necessary comprehensive researches and analysis to invoke more than one decision-making aspect (argument) for the making of investment decision, and recommendations to combine these diverse parameters. It is possible to find a lot of articles and researches in which investment decisions or investment tactics are decided on the ground of either technical or fundamental analysis, or modeling and on the ground of intellectual calculating technique (for example, fuzzy logic, neural net, genetic programming), whereas the issues of the coordination of different techniques are not decided at all. To fill this niche, the article offers the decision applied in multi-agent investment management information system which allows to provide rationale for investment decision taking into account four aspects (arguments), i. e., to form the recommendation to purchase/hold/sell a security paper having evaluated the following four aspects (arguments): (a) fundamental analysis, (b) technical analysis, (c) experts and analysts" recommendations and (d) risk assessment. These aspects (arguments) are chosen taking into account the real most commonly occurring process of investor"s investment decision-making. The article gives the implementation of aspects (arguments) assessment by four corresponding software agents whose decisions are implemented with a help of fuzzy logic. Besides, the article offers the technique of the unification of these aspects (arguments). In these latter days software agents are used for the development and implementation of intellectual decision support systems. In order to implement intelligence in a system some or several dozen of software agents are used and the made system becomes multi-agent. For the development of these systems a set of methodologies, i. e., the sequence of consequent steps of analysis, designing and implementation, is offered. The carried out analysis of the methodologies showed that as a rule they are limited by the spectrum of their pending problem (within the pales of the requirements of specific applied task, within the pales of the possibilities of technical implementation) or within the pales of amount of detail. The variety of methodologies is influenced by the fact that for the development of these systems the requirements and attitudes are offered by the specialists of related spheres such as software, numeral intellect engineers. In the course of the development of hardware and software appeared possibilities to implement mobile multi-agents systems, however, there is no one united mobile multi-agent systems design methodology, whereas existing systems are underdeveloped and their number is small. In this article we introduce the course of the designing of an intellectual real time multi-agent investment management decision support information system adapting and combining some methodologies where the choice to use either communicating or mobile agents is the question of rather technical implementation than methodological. In the article we introduce two ways of system implementation by JADE platform: the first one-using communicating agents, and the second one-using mobile agents.

Leiomyoma of the umbilical cord artery: A case report

A leiomyoma is a benign tumor originating from nonstriated muscle that is typically found in the uterus. Intravenous leiomyomatosis is a rare form found within the veins, usually associated with uterine fibroids, and tends to recur. These masses can spread from the uterus throughout the venous system. A rare case involving a subendothelial leiomyoma found in an umbilical cord artery is presented in this article. A 21-year-old patient presented with symptoms of preterm labor, which resulted in the premature birth of a female below the 10 th percentile for 24-wk gestational age. The newborn died three days later, and microscopic analysis of the umbilical cord revealed occlusion of the artery by nodular structures. The antepartum diagnosis of intravascular leiomyoma was identified by immunohistochemistry showing that approximately 70% of all tumor cells were diffusely positive for smooth muscle markers, including desmin and smooth muscle actin. These findings indicate the possibility of a pathologic association between the umbilical cord leiomyoma, restriction of fetal growth and preterm delivery due to impaired circulation of blood in the umbilical cord.
