Whether the pres.nce of non-plas.ic s.lt in a granular mix s.il impact its.liquefaction potential and how to evaluate liquefaction res.s.ance of s.nd containing different amounts.of s.lt contents.are both controvers.al is.ues. This.paper pres.nts.the res.lts.of an experimental evaluation to addres. thes. is.ues. Two parameters. namely, equivalent intergranular void ratio （ec）eq and equivalent interfine void ratio （ef）eq, propos.d in a companion paper （Thevanayagam, 2007） as.indices.of active grain contacts.in a granular mix, are us.d to characterize liquefaction res.s.ance of s.nds.and s.lty s.nds. Res.lts.indicate that, at the s.me global void ratio （e）, liquefaction res.s.ance of s.lty s.nd decreas.s.with an increas. in fines.content （Cv） up to a thres.old value （Crth）. This.is.due to a reduction in intergrain contact dens.ty between the coars. grains. Beyond Crth, with further addition of fines. the interfine contacts.become s.gnificant while the inter-coars. grain contacts.diminis. and coars. grains.become dis.ers.d. At the s.me e, the liquefaction res.s.ance increas.s.and the s.il becomes.s.ronger with a fttrther increas. in s.lt content. Beyond a limiting fines.content （CrL）, the liquefaction res.s.ance is.controlled by interfine contacts.only. When Cr〈Crth, at the s.me （e）eq, the liquefaction res.s.ance of s.lty s.nd is.comparable to that of the hos. clean s.nd at a void ratio equal to （ec）eq. When CF〉CFth, at the s.me （ef）eq, the cyclic s.rength of a s.ndy s.lt is.comparable to the hos. s.lt at a void ratio equal to （ef）eq.

The numerical model s.lves.the Navier-s.okes.equations.for free-s.rface flows.and incorporates.a Cartes.an cut cell method for fluid-s.ructure interaction. s.litary waves.are generated us.ng a pis.on-type wave paddle. The PICIN model is.firs. validated us.ng a tes. cas. that involves.s.litary wave s.attering by a s.ngle vertical cylinder. Comparis.ns.between the pres.nt res.lts.and experimental data s.ow good agreement for the free s.rface elevations.around the cylinder and the horizontal wave force on the cylinder. The model is.then employed to inves.igate s.litary wave interaction with a group of eleven vertical cylinders. The wave run-up and wave forces.on the cylinders.are dis.us.ed.

BACKGROUND: Targeted temperature management(TTM) is.a common therapeutic intervention, yet its.cos.-effectivenes. remains.uncertain. This.s.udy aimed to evaluate the real-world cos.-effectivenes. of TTM compared with that of conventional care in adult out-of-hos.ital cardiac arres.(OHCA) s.rvivors.us.ng clinical patient-level ***: We conducted a retros.ective cohort s.udy at an academic medical center in the Us. to as.es. the cos.-effectivenes. of TTM in adult non-traumatic OHCA s.rvivors.between 1 January, 2019 and 30 June, 2023. The primary outcome was.s.rvival to hos.ital dis.harge. Incremental cos.-effectivenes. ratios.ICERs. were calculated and compared with various.decis.on makers. willingnes. to pay. Cos.-effectivenes. acceptability curves.were utilized to evaluate the economic attractivenes. of TTM. Uncertainty about the incremental cos. and effect was.explored with a 95% confidence ***: Among 925 non-traumatic OHCA s.rvivors. only 30(3%) received TTM. After adjus.ing for potential confounders. the TTM group did not demons.rate a s.gnificantly lower cos.(delta cos.-$5,141, 95% confidence interval [95% CI]: $-35,347 to $25,065, P=0.79) and higher s.rvival to hos.ital dis.harge(delta effect 6%, 95% CI:-11% to 23%, P=0.41). Additionally, a 95% confidence ellips. indicated uncertainty reflected by evidence that the true value of the ICER could be in any of the quadrants.of the cos.-effectivenes. ***: Although TTM did not demons.rate a clear s.rvival benefit in this.s.udy, its.potential cos.-effectivenes. warrants.further inves.igation with larger s.mple s.zes. Thes. findings.highlight the need for additional res.arch to optimize TTM us. in OHCA care and inform res.urce allocation decis.ons.

Evaluation of hydromechanical s.ear behavior of uns.turated s.ils.is.s.ill a challenging is.ue. The time and cos. needed for conducting precis. experimental inves.igation on s.ear behavior of uns.turated s.ils.have encouraged s.veral inves.igators.to develop analytical, empirical, or s.mi-empirical models.for predicting the s.ear behavior of uns.turated s.ils. However, mos. of the previous.y propos.d models.are for s.ecimens.s.bjected to the is.tropic s.ate of s.res., without cons.dering the effect of initial s.ear s.res.. In this.s.udy, a hydromechanical cons.itutive model is.propos.d for uns.turated collaps.ble s.ils.during s.earing, with cons.deration of the effect of the initial s.ear s.res.. The model implements.an effective s.res.-bas.d dis.urbed s.ate concept (Ds.) to predict the s.res.-s.rain behavior of the s.il. Accordingly, material/s.ate variables.were defined for both the s.art of the s.earing s.age and the critical s.ate of the s.il. A s.ries.of laboratory tes.s.was.performed us.ng a fully automated uns.turated triaxial device to verify the propos.d model. The experimental program included 23 s.ction-controlled uns.turated triaxial s.ear tes.s.on recons.ituted s.ecimens.of Gorgan clayey loes. wetted to different levels.of s.ctions.under both is.tropic and anis.tropic s.res. s.ates. The res.lts.s.ow excellent agreement between the prediction by the propos.d model and the experimental res.lts.

AIM To determine the dis.ribution of anthropometric parameter(AP)-z-s.ores.and characterize as.ociations.between medications.s.rum biomarkers.and AP-z-s.ores.in pediatric Crohn's.dis.as.(CD).METHODs.CD patients.[s. were enrolled in a cros.-s.ctional s.udy. Paired t-tes.s.were us.d to compare AP-z-s.ores.calculated bas.d on CA(CA z-s.ores. and bone age(BA)(BA z-s.ores. for interpretation of AP's. Linear regres.ion was.utilized to examine as.ociations.between medications.and s.rum biomarkers.with AP-z-s.ores.calculated bas.d on CA(n = 82) and BA(n = 49). We reported regres.ion coefficients.as.well as.their corres.onding p-values.and 95% confidence *** Mean CA at the time of the s.udy vis.t was.15.3 ± 3.5(s.; range = 4.8-20.7) years. Mean triceps.s.infold(P = 0.039), s.bs.apular s.infold(P = 0.002) and midarm circumference(MAC)(P = 0.001) BA z-s.ores.were higher than corres.onding CA z-s.ores. Medications.were pos.tively as.ociated with s.bs.apular s.infold [adalimumab(P = 0.018) and methotrexate(P = 0.027)] and BMI CA z-s.ores.[adalimumab(P = 0.029)]. Azathioprine/6-mercaptopurine were negatively as.ociated with MAC(P = 0.045), s.bs.apular s.infold(P = 0.014), weight(P = 0.002) and BMI(P = 0.013) CA z-s.ores.
