Arms race co-evolution of plant–pathogen interactions evolved sophisticated recognition mechanisms between host immune receptors and pathogen effectors. Different allelic haplotypes of an immune receptor in the host mount distinct recognition against sequence or non-sequence related effectors in pathogens. We report the molecular characterization of the Piks allele of the rice immune receptor Pik against rice blast pathogen, which requires two head-to-head arrayed nucleotide-binding sites and leucine-rich repeat proteins. Like other Pik alleles, both Piks-1 and Piks-2 are necessary and sufficient for mediating resistance. However, unlike other Pik alleles, Piks does not recognize any known AvrPik variants of Magnaporthe oryzae. Sequence analysis of the genome of an avirulent isolate V86010 further revealed that its cognate avirulence(Avr) gene most likely has no significant sequence similarity to known AvrPik variants. Piks-1 and Pikm-1 have only two amino acid differences within the integrated heavy metal-associated(HMA) domain. Pikm-HMA interacts with AvrPik-A,-D, and-E in vitro and in vivo,whereas Piks-HMA does not bind any AvrPik variants. Characterization of two amino acid residues differing Piks-1 from Pikm-1 reveal that Piks-E229Q derived from the exchange of Glu229 to Gln229 in Piks-1 gains recognition specificity against AvrPik-D but not AvrPik-A or-E, indicating that Piks-E229Q partially restores the Pikm spectrum. By contrast,Piks-A261V derived from the exchange of Ala261 to Val261 in Piks-1 retains Piks recognition *** conclude that Glu229 in Piks-1 is critical for Piks breaking the canonical Pik/AvrPik recognition pattern. Intriguingly, binding activity and ectopic cell death induction is maintained between Piks-A261V and AvrPik-D, implying that positive outcomes from ectopic assays might be insufficient to deduce its immune activity against the relevant effectors in rice and rice blast interaction.

在短短几十年中，夜间人造光（ALAN）已经成为世界公认的光污染现象之一。ALAN不仅在城市地区产生严重的光污染，在人类活动有限的地区，如生物保护区内，其对鸟类、植物等生物体的不同生命层次（如基因、个体、种群、生态系统）和生活史特征（如生长、存活、繁殖力、移动性）均存在有害影响。不仅如此，ALAN产生的光污染通过影响自然栖息地的质量、减少敏感物种出现、破坏迁徙过程等方式，进一步加剧了许多生物栖息地的丧失和破碎化程度，是很多物种最终在黑夜条件下形成孤立的种群，增加了物种灭绝的可能。

A hidden precipitation scenario of theθ’-phase in Al-Cu alloys

Al-Cu binary alloys are important and interesting industry *** to date,the formation mechanisms of the key strengthening precipitates,namedθ’-phase,in the alloys are still ***,we report that for non-deformed bulk Al-Cu alloys theθ’-phase actually has its own direct precursors that can form only at elevated aging temperature(>ca.200℃).These high-temperature precursors have the same plate-like morphology as theθ’-phase precipitates but rather different *** imaging reveals that they have a tetragonal structure with a=0.405 nm and c=1.213 nm,and an average composition of Al_(5-x)Cu_(1+x)(0≤x<1),being fully coherent with the *** precursor phase may initiate with a composition of Al5 Cu and evolve locally towards Al_(4)Cu_(2)in composition,eventually leading to a consequent structural transformation into theθ’-phase(Al4 Cu2=Al2 Cu).There are evidences that because of their genetic links in structure,such a high-temperature precursor may transform to theθ’-phase without having to change their morphology and interface *** study reveals a well-defined and previously hidden precipitation scenario for theθ’-phase to form in Al-Cu alloys at an elevated aging temperature.

Novel insight into dry sliding behavior of Cu-Pb-Sn in-situ composite with secondary phase in different morphology

The Cu-24 Pb-x Sn(wt%)(x=0,2,4,6)alloys with Pb-rich second-phase particles(SPPs)in different shapes show obviously differently mechanical and self-lubricating *** influence of the SPPs’shape difference on the alloys’mechanical and self-lubricating properties was ***-24 Pb alloy with continuously netty SPPs shows much more intensive stick-slip phenomenon during dry sliding than the other three alloys with independently rodlike *** is mainly due to insufficient lubrication resulted by the netty SPPs’splitting *** the SPPs transforming from netty to rodlike shape under the addition of Sn,the stick-slip phenomenon was notably weakened,which was proven to be related to the higher self-lubricating property of alloys with rodlike ***,the simultaneous increase of ductility and tensile strength was observed in the Cu-24 Pb-x Sn alloys with increasing Sn content,which is because the netty SPPs’splitting behavior will be weakened with them replaced by the rodlike SPPs.

We present a low-cost and easy-to-implement technique to fabricate large-area WS_(2) photodetector devices onto transparent and flexible polycarbonate *** method relies on the deposition of large-area(in the cm scale)thin films(~30 nm thick)of WS_(2) by a recently introduced abrasion-induced *** electrical contacts are then deposited by thermal evaporation through a shadow *** photodetectors present well-balanced performances with an good trade-off between responsivity(up to 144 mA/W at a source-drain voltage of 10 V and illumination power of 1μW)and response time(down to~70µs)and a detectivity value of 10^(8) *** found that the devices perform very reversibly upon several illumination and straining cycles and we found a moderate device-to-device variation.

Rationale:Comorbidity of depression and anxiety is one of the most common mental disorders in *** experimental procedures,however,have focused on identifying mixed depression-and anxiety-like behaviors in animal ***:To develop a novel testing paradigm,the so-called Liang’s contextual-stress Box(briefly,Liang’s Box),for evaluating depression-and/or anxiety-like behaviors in ***:Liang’s Box consisted of a central area(CA)with three peripheral arms(PA).Mice were placed individually in the end of a peripheral arm facing to the central area and were allowed to travel around Liang’s *** a test period,behavioral parameters were recorded and collected by a video-tracking system named SMART 3.0(Panlab,Spain),including①Latency to CA,②Time spent in CA(CA-time),③Distance traveled in CA(CA-distance),④Distance traveled in PA(PA-distance),⑤Transition number between CA and PA,⑥Global activity,⑦CA-time/cm2,⑧PA-time/cm2,⑨CAdistance/cm2,and⑩PA-distance/*** order to assess the reliability and validity of Liang’s Box and get baseline information,we undertook a series of experiment,including verifying consistency and stability in the various strains of mice(KM,ICR,and C57 BL/6 j mice),imposing high illumination,restraint and tail suspension stress,pre-treating with an anxiolytic(diazepam,buspirone)or antidepressant(desipramine,mianserin).Results:①There were not remarkable differences in all the parameters among KM,ICR,and C57 BL/6 j mice;②High illumination,restraint and tail suspension significantly increased the latency to CA and decreased the CA-time,CA-distance and transition ***,these three types of stresses evoked different effect on global *** illumination increased activity,but restraint stress had no significant *** contrast with high illumination,tail suspension stress markedly reduced activity in mice;③The anxiolytics diazepam(0.25 mg·kg-1 and 0.5 mg·kg-1,i.p.)and buspirone(0.5 mg·kg-1 and 1.0 mg·kg-1,i.p.)

Geochronology and Nd and Pb isotope characteristics of gabbro dikes in the Luobusha ophiolite, Tibet

We report a combined internal and whole-rock Sm-Nd isochron age, and Nd and Pb isotopic data for gabbro dikes of the Luobusha ophiolite in Tibet. The Sm-Nd isochron of data for two whole rocks and plagioclase and clinopyroxene separates from one of the rocks yields a Middle jurassic age of (177±31) Ma (with an initial εNd(t) = +8), which provides a significant bound on the time of formation of the Luobusha ophiolite. The Nd and Pb isotopic charac-teristics of the dike indicate an Indian-Ocean-type isotopic affinity, and we conclude that the Luobusha ophiolite formed in an oceanic setting during the Middle jurassic.
