Root-knot nematodes(RKNs)are obligate endoparasites that feed on their host plants to complete its life cycle,representing a major threat to agriculture and economy *** development of new management strategies becomes essential as effective chemical nematicides are progressively being ***,we analysed grape pomace-derived biochars,pyrolysed at 350℃(Bc350)and 700℃(Bc700),focusing on their potential for RKN *** thermal treatment of grape pomace caused an increase in the concentration of carbon and plant macro-and micronutrients,which were largely present in a water-soluble *** radiation-based Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy data showed a general loss of carboxylic functional groups during pyrolysis,partially contributing to the alkalinisation of both biochars,mostly in *** electron microscopy coupled with energydispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis revealed a highly porous structure filled with different crystals composed of elements such as K,ca,Mg,P,Si or Al,which could be a suitable environment for the growth of ***-derived aqueous extracts showed phytotoxicity to tomato seedlings at high concentrations,and disappeared upon dilution,but no toxic effect was observed on the nematode’s infective ***,the infective and reproductive traits of a Meloidogyne javanica population in tomato were significantly reduced(*** masses and eggs per plant)in washed-biochar-treated soil in pots(0.75%;Bc350W).Therefore,the large amount of grape waste generated after wine production can be transformed into a valuable product such as biochar,effective for RKNs control,thus reducing the waste management problem and contributing to a circular economy.

There are different types of pollutants that are harmful to the environment, including smog, chemicals that are dumped into rivers, scrap tires, etc. The latter have the particularity that it is not possible to recycle them to manufacture new tires. In the present work, hydraulic concrete plates added with waste tire rubber were manufactured to modify their sound absorption capacity. It was found that the rubber additions produce changes in the density of the material and in the sound absorption capacity. When the material is exposed to high-frequency sounds that correspond to high-pitched sounds, its absorption capacity increases. On the contrary, when the test frequency is low, that is, bass sounds, the sound absorption capacity decreases. The results obtained in this work suggest that the proposed mixtures are suitable for the possible manufacture of acoustic insulating shields.

Influence of an intravenous infusion of amino acids and glucose on the pancreatic exocrine in rats

Background A number of reports based on both animal experiments and clinical investigations have pointed out that total parenteral nutrition (TPN) suppresses the function of the exocrine pancreas. Even though pancreatic hypotrophy and dysfunction resulting from TPN may be explained by several mechanisms, the clinically most important cause is that nutrients in circulation affect pancreatic secretion. The effect of nutrients on the exocrine pancreas is still controversial. The aim of the present study was, therefore, to clarify the influence of intravenous amino acids and hypertonic glucose in TPN solution on the exocrine pancreas. Methods Three mixed TPN solutions, consisting of 30% or 50% glucose or of 14% amino acids, were employed. Twenty-four male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups, six rats in each group, including a control group and one group receiving each of the three TPN solutions. All animals were killed after 10 days of TPN. Body weight, pancreatic content, and enzyme levels in the pancreas were measured. Results compared with the control group, pancreatic wet weight was lower in all TPN groups. glucose significantly decreased the content and concentration of pancreatic protein, but amino acids did not alter the concentration of protein. The level of amylase was lower in all parenterally fed groups, with a greater decrease in the groups treated with amino acids and 30% glucose than with 50% glucose. Trypsin levels in all groups receiving TPN were markedly higher than in the control group. conclusion TPN results in atrophy of the pancreas, but trypsin levels increase with TPN treatment. glucose elevates the amylase level in the pancreas, while amino acids suppress pancreatic amylase. Amino acids used as a source of protein maintain normal pancreatic protein levels.

For genome mulUplication hepadnaviruses use the transcriptional machinery of the cell that is found within the nucleus. Thus the viral genome has to be transported through the cytoplasm and nuclear pore. The intracytosolic translocation is facilitated by the viral capsid that surrounds the genome and that interacts with cellular microtubules. The subsequent passage through the nuclear pore complexes （NPc） is mediated by the nuclear transport receptors importin α andβ. Importin α binds to the c-terminus of the capsid protein that comprises a nuclear localization signal （NLS）. The exposure of the NLS is regulated and depends upon genome maturation and/or phosphorylation of the capsid protein. As for other karyophilic cargos using this pathway importin α interacts with importin β that facilitates docking of the import complex to the NPc and the passage through the pore. Being a unique strategy, the import of the viral capsid is incomplete in that it becomes arrested inside the nuclear basket, which is a cage-like structure on the karyoplasmic face of the NPc. Presumably only this compartment provides the factors that are required for capsid disassembly and genome release that is restricted to those capsids comprising a mature viral DNA genome.

AIM:To evaluate the long-term effect of Endocinch treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease(gERD).METHODS:After unblinding and crossover,50 patients(32 males,18 females; mean age 46 years) with pH-proven chronic gERD were recruited from an initial randomized,placebo-controlled,single-center study,and included in the present prospective open-label follow-up ***,three gastroplications using the Endocinch device were placed under deep sedation in a standardized *** retreatment was offered in the first year with 1 or 2 extra *** baseline,3 mo after(re) treatment and yearly proton pump inhibitor(PPI) use,gERD symptoms,quality of life(QoL) scores,adverse events and treatment failures(defined as:patients using > 50% of their baseline PPI dose or receiving alternative antireflux therapy) were ***-to-treat analysis was ***:Median follow-up was 48 mo [interquartile range(IQR):38-52].Three patients were lost to *** 44% of patients retreatment was done after a median of 4 mo(IQR:3-8).No serious adverse events *** the end of follow-up,symptom scores and4 out of 6 QoL subscales were improved(all P compared to baseline).However,80% of patients required PPIs for their gERD ***,64% of patients were classified as treatment *** 60% a post-procedural endoscopy was carried out,of which in 16% reflux esophagitis was ***:In the 4-year follow-up period,the subset of gERD patients that benefit from endoscopic gastroplication kept declining gradually,nearly half opted for retreatment and 80% required PPIs eventually.
