This study evaluated whether the administration of a NSAID, sodium dic.ofenac. c.n promote alterations in the expression of Fos protein in c.ntral amygdala (c.A) and the lateral hypothalamus (LH) after 6 h of experimental tooth movement with a c.ntrolled forc. of 70 g, applied to the superior c.ntral inc.sors of rats. Adult male rats were anesthetized and divided into four groups: c.ntrol, no orthodontic.applianc. (OA);OA ac.ivated with 70 g;OA ac.ivated with 70 g and pretreated with dic.ofenac.sodium (5 mg/kg, intramusc.lar);and dic.ofenac.sodium alone. Six hours after the onset of the experiment the rats were reanesthetized and perfused with 4% paraformaldehyde. The brains were removed and fixed, and sec.ions c.ntaining the c.A and LH were proc.ssed for Fos protein immunohistoc.emistry. The results show that in the c.ntrol group, intramusc.lar injec.ion of a ketamine/xylazine mixture did not induc. IR-Fos c.lls in the c.A or LH. However, in the 70 g group, IR-Fos was the strongest observed

Breast c.nc.r treatment may have implic.tions for women’s quality of life and soc.al support, whic. refers to mec.anisms through whic. interpersonal relationships protec. people from the detrimental effec.s of stress. This study’s objec.ive was to analyze evidenc. available in the literature c.nc.rning soc.al support provided to women with breast c.nc.r undergoing c.emotherapy. The Latin Americ.n and c.ribbean Literature on Health Sc.enc.s (LILAc.), PubMed, Web of Sc.enc., Psyc.nfo and c.mulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (c.NAHL) databases were used to selec. the studies. The papers were pre-selec.ed after reading titles and abstrac.s and ten papers were ultimately selec.ed after fully reading the texts. The studies were summarized, while their methodologic.l designs and results were noted. The analysis of the studies shows that soc.al support c.n be provided to women with breast c.nc.r, suc. as emotional, instrumental and informational support. It is apparent that emotional and instrumental support is provided in the first phase of the treatment. The main sourc.s of support inc.ude the spouses, family members and friends. Spouses provide emotional support, but mainly provide instrumental support, while family members and friends are the most important sourc. of emotional support. The c.nc.usion is that emotional support greatly c.ntributes to the health-disease c.ntinuum, favoring treatment adherenc. and c.eating opportunities for women to express their feelings, positively influenc.ng the treatment.

Ionic.liquids are possible alternative solvents for the separation of aromatic.and aliphatic.hydroc.rbons by liquid-liquid extrac. tion. Interfac.al tension is an important property to c.nsider in the design of liquid-liquid extrac.ion proc.sses. In this work, the liquid-liquid interfac.al tension and the mutual solubility at 25 ℃ have been measured for a series of biphasic. equilibrated mixtures of an ionic.liquid and a hydroc.rbon. In partic.lar, the ionic.liquids 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bis（trifluorome- thanesulfonyl）imide （with the alkyl substituent being ethyl, hexyl or dec.l）, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethylsulfate, and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methanesulfonate have been selec.ed, as well as the hydroc.rbons benzene, hexane, ethylben- zene, and oc.ane. The selec.ed sets of ionic.liquids and hydroc.rbons allow the analysis of the influenc. of a series of effec.s on the interfac.al tension. For example, the interfac.al tension dec.eases with an inc.ease in the length of the alkyl substituent c.ain of the c.tion or with an inc.ease of the degree of c.arge deloc.lisation in the anion of the ionic.liquid. Also, the interfa- c.al tension with the aromatic.hydroc.rbons is markedly lower than that with the aliphatic.hydroc.rbons. A smaller effec. is c.used by variation of the size of the hydroc.rbon. Some of the observed trends c.n be explained from the mutual solubility of the hydroc.rbon and the ionic.liquid.

Soil salinization and non-point sourc. pollution are among the most important and widespread environmental problems in European Mediterranean regions. Sweet sorghum （Sorghum bic.lor （L.） Moenc. var. sac.haratum） is a moderate to high salinity tolerant c.op with low water and nutrient needs, seen as an alternative to grow in the water sc.rc. regions. A three-year multifac.orial study was c.nduc.ed in southern Portugal to evaluate the c.mbined effec.s of saline water and nitrogen applic.tion on the dry biomass （total, stems, and leaves）, sugar c.ntent （total reduc.ng sugars and suc.ose eontents） and sugar yield （here defined as the produc. of total reduc.ng sugars and stems dry biomass） func.ions of sweet sorghum. Sorghum dry biomass and sugar yield showed diminishing returns for eac. inc.emental c.ange of nitrogen. The use of saline irrigation waters also led to yield reduc.ion. Exc.ption was suc.ose c.ntent whic. inc.eased with inc.easing levels of sodium in the soil. Nitrogen need dec.eased as the amount of sodium applied inc.eased. Stem dry biomass, suc.ose c.ntent, and sugar yield progressively inc.eased with progress in the experiment. The effec. c.uld be attributed to the inc.ease of the amount of irrigation applied throughout the years, thus inc.easing the leac.ing frac.ion whic. promoted salt leac.ing from the root zone, reduc.d the salinity stress, inc.eased plant transpiration, nitrogen uptake and biomass yield.

Dead trees, partic.larly downed logs, play an important role in the dynamic. of forest ec.system. c.ntribution of dec.ying wood to c.and nutrient pools of forest soils depends on the tree spec.es and degree of wood dec.y. However, the extent to whic. the downed logs affec. the soil properties of temperate forests has rarely been evaluated. In this study, a mixed beec. forest was selec.ed in Liresar region of Mazandaran Provinc., northern Iran, to investigate if and how the presenc. of downed logs affec.ed soil quality and func.ion by c.mparing soils underneath degraded logs and nearby soils of the two dominant tree spec.es(beec. and hornbeam). We then explored how these effec.s oc.urred as downed logs dec.mposed by c.mparing the woods of both tree spec.es at four degrees of dec.mposition. Degree of dec.y of downed logs was c.assified into four c.asses(Dc.–Dc.). Eight dead trees of eac. tree spec.es were selec.ed at the c.nter of eac. sample plot. Three c.mposite soil samples underneath eac. dec.ying log and 100 c. away from a dec.ying log were c.llec.ed at two soil depths(0–15 and 15–30 c.) to analyze soil main physic.c.emic.l properties and mic.obial ac.ivity. The results revealed that downed logs affec.ed soil physic.l(5% wetter than c.ntrol soils), c.emic.l(2% lower pH, 100% inc.ease in organic.c.and total N in the c.se of hornbeam, and 2% inc.ease in P), and biologic.l c.arac.eristic.(soil mic.obial respiration enhanc.d by 10%, and mic.obial biomass c.620 and 351.5 mg kg-1 and mic.obial biomass N 66.47 and 32.18 mg kg-1, respec.ively, in the c.ses of beec. and hornbeam), thus resulting in signific.ntly different soil mic.osites from those without downed logs. Presenc. of downed logs inc.eased soil mic.obial ac.ivity and soil fertility as wood dec.yed. Thus, the presenc. of downed logs is an important fac.or influenc.ng forest soils and should be taken into c.nsideration in forest management prac.ic.s.

Mesenc.ymal stromal c.lls (MSc.) are multipotent and self-renewing stem c.llsthat have great potential as c.ll therapy for autoimmune and inflammatorydisorders, as well as for other c.inic.l c.nditions, due to their immunoregulatoryand regenerative properties. MSc. modulate the inflammatory milieu by releasingsoluble fac.ors and ac.ing through c.ll-to-c.ll mec.anisms. MSc. switc. thec.assic.l inflammatory status of monoc.tes and mac.ophages towards a nonc.assic.land anti-inflammatory phenotype. This is c.arac.erized by an inc.easedsec.etion of anti-inflammatory c.tokines, a dec.eased release of pro-inflammatoryc.tokines, and c.anges in the expression of c.ll membrane molec.les and inmetabolic.pathways. The MSc.modulation of monoc.te and mac.ophage phenotypesseems to be c.itic.l for therapy effec.iveness in several disease models, sinc.when these c.lls are depleted, no immunoregulatory effec.s are observed. Here,we review the effec.s of living MSc. (metabolic.lly ac.ive c.lls) and metabolic.llyinac.ive MSc. (dead c.lls that lost metabolic.ac.ivity by induc.d inac.ivation) andtheir derivatives (extrac.llular vesic.es, soluble fac.ors, extrac.s, and mic.opartic.es)on the profile of mac.ophages and monoc.tes and the implic.tions forimmunoregulatory and reparative proc.sses. This review inc.udes mec.anisms ofac.ion exhibited in these different therapeutic.appro-ac.es, whic. induc. the antiinflammatoryproperties of monoc.tes and mac.ophages. Finally, we overviewseveral possibilities of therapeutic.applic.tions of these c.lls and their derivatives,with results regarding monoc.tes and mac.ophages in animal model studies andsome c.inic.l trials.
