Background: The use of traditional and complementary medicine (T&CM) is increasing in both developed and developing countries. The school of Persian medicine (PM) in Iran is a comprehensive medical school that is rich in history and has its own special principles, elements, philosophy, and diagnostic and treatment options. Many complementary therapy modalities are also popular and in demand among patients and physicians. The aim of this paper is to provide logic for the policymakers in Iranian medical education to make changes in medical education curricula, particularly on integrating T&CM. Methods: We reviewed the global experience in teaching T&CM to medical students, and highlighting the strengths of PM, described why it is necessary to integrate T&CM into general medicine curricula in Iran. Results: PM is a traditional system of medicine that dates back about 7000 years. Although there are few studies about the safety and effectiveness of PM, research into it has recently been accelerated. There is a suitable opportunity for integrating T&CM with conventional medicine. Physicians should be familiar with T&CM to avoid any contraindications, interactions, and unwanted effects. Conclusion: Traditional medicine is part of Iran's heritage and. thus, needs special attention. Familiarization of physicians with T&CM can help them choose the best treatment options for their patients. To integrate T&CM into the medical education curricula of Iran, a two-credit course has been proposed for implementation across the country.

Therapeutic effects of acupuncture on blood glucose level among patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus: A randomized clinical trial

Objective:To compare the therapeutic effects of acupuncture with sham acupuncture on levels of fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) among patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) under treatment with ***:Eighty participants with T2DM were allocated randomly to treatment (n =40) and control (n =40) *** addition to metformin therapy,patients in the acupuncture group received acupoint stimulation with even manipulation at 15 acupoints,and needles were retained for 20 *** sham-acupuncture group was treated with very small needles inserted at a very shallow depth (3-5 mm) without manipulation at non-acupoints 1 cm around the actual acupuncture *** groups were treated for 14 sessions during 10 weeks of *** FPG level was measured before treatment as well as after 1,2,4,6 and 12 weeks of *** HbA1c percentage was assessed once before treatment and once 12 weeks after treatment ***:Levels of FPG and HbA1c in both groups were reduced significantly in comparison with baseline measurements (both P <.01).However,acupuncture treatment led to a significant reduction in the FPG level as compared with sham acupuncture after 4 weeks or 10 sessions of treatment [mean difference (MD) =10.18,95% confidence interval (CI) =1.74 to 18.6,P =.019],after 6 weeks or 12 sessions of treatment (MD =10.53,95% CI =2.22 to 18.83,P =.014) and after 12-week follow-up (MD =8.8,95% Cl =0.66 to 16.94,P =.034).Acupuncture treatment reduced the HbA1c level significantly in comparison with that in the shamacupuncture group (MD =0.27,95%Cl =0.08 to 0.47,P =.007).Conclusion:Our study revealed that acupuncture (as a type of Chinese therapy) combined with metformin (as a conventional hypoglycemic medication) had a greater effect on glycemic control than that elicited in the placebo control ***,acupuncture could be used as adjuvant therapy among patients with T2DM.

Mixing efficiency in two-phase gas–liquid agitated vessel is one of the important challenges in the industrial *** fluid dynamics technique(CFD)was used to investigate the effect of four different pitched blade impellers,including 15°,30°,45°and 60°,on the mixing quality of gas–liquid agitated *** multiphase flow behavior was modeled by Eulerian–Eulerian multiphase approach,and RNG k-εwas used to model the *** CFD results showed that a strong global vortex plays the main role on the mixing quality of the gas phase in the *** on the standard deviation criterion,it was observed that the axial distribution of the gas phase in the 30°impeller is about 55%better than the *** addition,the results showed that the 30°impeller has a uniform radial distribution over the other impellers and the maximum gas phase holdup in the *** of the power consumption of the impellers showed that the 30°impeller has the highest power consumption among the other pitched blade ***,examine the effect of same power condition for pitched blade impellers showed that the 30°impeller has the best mixing quality in this condition.

BACKGROUND Hepatitis C is the leading cause of chronic liver disease worldwide and it significantly contributes to the burden of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).However,there are marked variations in the incidence and mortality rates of HCC across different geographical *** the advent of new widely available treatment modalities,such as direct-acting antivirals,it is becoming increasingly imperative to understand the temporal and geographical trends in HCC mortality associated with Hepatitis ***,gender disparities in HCC mortality related to Hepatitis C are a crucial,yet underexplored aspect that adds to the disease's global *** some studies shed light on gender-specific trends,there is a lack of comprehensive data on global and regional mortality rates,particularly those highlighting gender *** gap in knowledge hinders the development of targeted interventions and resource allocation *** The results of our study show an overall decline in the mortality rates of patients with hepatitis C-related HCC over the last two ***,females exhibited a remarkable decrease in mortality compared to ***,East Asia and the Pacific displayed a significant decline in mortality,while Europe and Central Asia witnessed an upward *** America and the Caribbean also experienced an increase in mortality ***,no significant difference was observed in the Middle East and North *** America exhibited a notable upward *** Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa significantly declined throughout the study *** raises the hope of identifying areas for implementing more targeted *** some progress,multiple challenges remain in meeting the WHO 2030 goal of eliminating viral hepatitis[24].
