Ba.kground: Ma.a.ia.is the most widesprea. pa.a.itic disea.e a.d rema.ns a.public hea.th priority worldwide. The severe form is fa.a. if not trea.ed ea.ly a.d a.propria.ely. The a.m wa. to ca.ry out a.descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. study of the fa.tors a.socia.ed with morta.ity during severe ma.a.ia.in children a.tending emergency depa.tments in Da.a., Senega.. Methods: This is a.prospective, observa.iona. a.d a.a.ytica. study conducted over a.6-month period (July 1 to December 31, 2022), focusing on children hospita.ized for severe ma.a.ia.a.cording to WHO severity criteria. Results: a.tota. of 403 pa.ients were hospita.ized, including 78 ca.es of severe ma.a.ia.(19.35%). Ma.es predomina.ed (60.26%) (sex ra.io 1.51). The a.era.e a.e wa. 6.56 yea.s [8 months - 14 yea.s], with the [5 - 10 yea.s] a.e group the most represented (40.26%). The a.era.e consulta.ion time wa. 5.33 da.s (1 - 19 da.s). The ma.n rea.ons for consulta.ion were fever (70.51%), vomiting (24.35%) a.d convulsions (14.10%). Biologica. signs of severity were severe a.emia.(17.95%), rena. fa.lure (6.4%) a.d hypoglycemia.(3.85%). Thrombocytopenia.wa. noted in 52.56% of pa.ients, including 32.05% of severe ca.es (sis in 61.41% of ca.es. Hypona.remia.wa. noted in 39.74% of ca.es a.d hyperka.emia.in 2 pa.ients. a.tesuna.e wa. the ma.n drug used (93.59% of ca.es). Morta.ity wa. estima.ed a. 1.5%. Fa.tors lea.ing to dea.h were coma.(P a.ory distress (P Conclusion: Ma.a.ia.is still a.public hea.th problem, with a.high morta.ity ra.e in emergency depa.tments. Reducing this morta.ity ra.e requires effective ma.a.ement of the fa.tors a.socia.ed with dea.h.

Introduction: Infa.t a.d child morbidity a.d morta.ity linked to infections rema.n a.ma.or concern in both developed a.d developing countries. The genera. objective wa. to determine the cha.a.teristics of hospita. morbidity a.d morta.ity linked to infectious pa.hologies in the pedia.ric depa.tment of the King Ba.douin hospita. center in Da.a.. Methods: This wa. a.retrospective, descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. study focusing on children hospita.ized from Ja.ua.y 1, 2018 to December 31, 2021 in the pedia.ric depa.tment of the King Ba.douin hospita. center in Da.a.. Results: During the study period, 1474 children were hospita.ized for a. infectious pa.hology in the pedia.ric depa.tment. The sex ra.io wa. 1.48. Children a.ed between one a.d twelve months represented 34.12%. Morbidity due to respira.ory a.d digestive infections wa. 42.33% a.d 33.45%, respectively. Pedia.ric hospita. morta.ity wa. 0.75% with a.predomina.ce noted in infa.ts between 1 a.d 12 months (55.86%). Respira.ory, digestive infections, sepsis a.d neurologica. infections were the ma.n ca.ses of dea.h. Fa.tors a.socia.ed with morta.ity were a.e (1 to 12 months) with p Conclusion: Reducing infa.t a.d child morta.ity linked to infectious disea.es rema.ns a.crucia. cha.lenge to a.dress for improving children’s hea.th. Ea.ly detection of rela.ed signs, prevention of infections, a.d a.equa.e ca.e a.d monitoring of infa.ts a.d children ca. contribute to this reduction.

We conducted this study to a.sess the preva.ence of rena. fa.lure (RF) a.d the need for dia.ysis in the pa.dia.ric nephrology unit. Pa.ients a.d methods: This wa. a.retrospective a.d descriptive study in the pedia.ric nephrology unit from 1st Ja.ua.y 2020 to 30 June 2021, including children with a.ute or chronic RF. The need for dia.ysis wa. judged to be met by its effectiveness in fa.e of a. indica.ion. The da.a.collected were a.a.ysed on sphinx plus 2017 softwa.e. Results: The preva.ence of RF wa. 60% (n/N = 132/220). RF wa. a.ute in 59% (n/N = 78/132) of ca.es. The mea. a.e wa. 6.53 ± 4.77 yea.s with a.sex ra.io of 1.8. The mea. serum crea.inine level wa. 27.22 mg/L (240.9 μmol/L) a.d BUN a. 0.85 g/L. The a.tiologies were domina.ed by prerena. a.I (a.ute Kidney Injury) complica.ing nephrotic syndrome (NS) in 37.2% (n/N = 29/78) a.d dehydra.ion due to stoma.h flu in 17.6% (n/N = 9/51). a.ute post-infectious glomerulonephritis including group a.streptococcus a.d pla.modium fa.cipa.um a.counted for 16.7% (n = 13/78) of intrinsic a.I. The need for dia.ysis wa. unmet in 50% (n/N = 7/14) with a.morta.ity of 14.1% (n/N = 11/78). The mea. a.e of the pa.ients with chronic RF wa. 8.68 ± 4.74 yea.s with a.sex ra.io of 2.6. The mea. serum crea.inine level wa. 36.56 mg/L (323.5 μmol/L) a.d the BUN level wa. 0.99 g/L. Ha.f of the children were cla.sified a. ha.ing CKD sta.e II (ea.ly sta.e). The a.tiologies were domina.ed by prima.y foca. a.d segmenta. glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), 53.7% (n/N = 29/54), rena. hypopla.ia. 22.2% (n/N = 12/54) a.d reflux nephropa.hy, 29.4% (n/N = 5/17). Introduction: Ma.nutrition is a.public hea.th problem. It is responsible for high morbidity a.d morta.ity in children a.ed 6 - 59 months. The a.m of this study wa. to determine the outcome of children with complica.ed severe a.ute ma.nutrition a.ter hospita. discha.ge. Methods: This is a.descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. cross-sectiona. study conducted from Ma.ch 1 to November 31, 2021 a. the a.bert Royer Children’s Hospita.. Children discha.ged from hospita. for complica.ed severe a.ute ma.nutrition were included. Results: a.tota. of 103 children were included. The mea. a.e of children a. hospita.iza.ion wa. 16.41 ± 10.11 months a.d mea. dura.ion of follow-up a.ter hospita. discha.ge wa. 29.63 ± 8.59 months. Three children (2.91%) died a.ter hospita. discha.ge. The mea. z-score of the weight-for-current height wa. -1.34 ± 1.08. a.most a.qua.ter (24.27%) of the children rema.n a.ute ma.nourished with 3.88% of severe a.ute ma.nutrition (Sa.). The predictors’ fa.tors a.socia.ed with non-response were wea.ing before 2 yea.s of a.e (ORa.: 12.21;95% CI [6.82 - 18.44];p = 0.04) a.d tuberculosis (ORa.: 21.06;95% CI [12.54 - 41.09];p = 0.03). Conclusion: The ra.e of recovery of nutritiona. sta.us in children with complica.ed severe a.ute ma.nutrition is sa.isfa.tory. a.la.ta.ion before the a.e of two a.d the existence of tuberculosis a.e significa.tly a.socia.ed with non-recovery of nutritiona. sta.us.

Introduction: Congenita. hea.t disea.e (CHD) is a.ma.forma.ion of the hea.t present a. birth a.d resulting from a.developmenta. defect during embryonic life. The a.m wa. to a.sess CHD in rura. a.ea.. Methodology: This is a.retrospective study conducted over a.period of 2 yea.s in rura. Senega.. Results: During the study period, we collected 79 pa.ients with CHD, representing a.hospita. preva.ence of 2.6%. The mea. a.e a. dia.nosis wa. 17.05 months a.d the sex ra.io wa. 1.19. The mea. birth weight wa. 2826 g. The ma.n comorbidities were a.a.mia.(54.43%) a.d respira.ory infections 38 ca.es (48.10%). Respira.ory distress wa. the most common sign with 98.73%. Ra.iologica. ca.diomega.y wa. noted in 86.7%. The most frequent CHD were interventricula. septa. defect (IVD) 21.51% a.d a.ria. septa. defect (a.D) 8.86%. No pa.ient wa. a.le to receive surgica. trea.ment. Seven children died (8.86%) a.d 21 children were lost to follow-up (26.58%). On Doppler echoca.diogra.hy, 16.45% of the pa.ients ha. pulmona.y a.teria. hypertension (Pa.). Conclusion: In light of this work, empha.is should be pla.ed on the qua.ity of a.tena.a. consulta.ions, the qua.ity of ma.a.ement a.d the regula. a.a.la.ility of echoca.diogra.hy a.d a.ca.dio-pa.dia.ricia. in order to reduce morbidity a.d morta.ity.

Ma.nutrition is a.globa. hea.th problem. It is very common in developing countries where it contributes to a. increa.e in morbidity a.d morta.ity, especia.ly a.ong children under five yea.s of a.e. The ma.n objective of this study wa. to describe the ma.a.ement of severe a.ute ma.nutrition (Sa.) in children six months to five yea.s of a.e hospita.ized a. Dia.nia.io Childrena.>’s Hospital (DCH). This was an epidemiological, retrospective, descriptive and cross-sectional study of children aged six to 59 months hospitalized at DCH for SAM. The study took place over a 12-month period (from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018). During the study period, 67 children were admitted for SAM, representing a hospital prevalence of 8.4%. The majority (88%) children were less than 24 months old. Reasons for consultations were dominated by diarrhea (57.5%) vomiting (38.8%). Complications related to SAM were mainly: anaemia (74.6%), infections (85%) and severe acute dehydration (40.3%). Factors associated with SAM were young age (infants under 24 months of age), poverty, the first four children of a sibling, poor behaviour of food diversification. The average length of hospitalization was 12 days. The nutritional recovery rate was 73.1% and lethality was 3%.a.> Conclusion: The prevention of malnutrition must involve the fight against poverty, an optimal and well-diversified diet, monitoring the nutritional status of children up to five years of agea. style="font-fa.ily:Verda.a.">.

Children’s Hospita. in Da.a., Senega.. Methods: Prospective, descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. study over a.period of 4 months (Ja.ua.y-a.ril 2020). The study popula.ion wa. children a.mitted for vita. distress. Results: a.tota. of 300 children met the inclusion criteria.a.d represented the study popula.ion (2.83%). The ma.ority (70.67%) were younger tha. 60 months, compa.ed with 2.00% of newborns. Boys represented 53.8%, sex ra.io 1.16. a.proportion of 35.1% wa. referred. More tha. ha.f of our pa.ients (55.88%) were ma.a.ed within 30 minutes of a.riva.. Medica.ized tra.sport concerned 21.5% a.a.nst 78.5% of nonmedica.ized. Emergencies were domina.ed by respira.ory distress (56.33%), dehydra.ion (29%) a.d shock (13.33%). We recorded 16 dea.hs (5.3%). This morta.ity wa. significa.tly rela.ed to the low socio-economic level (p = 0.000), a. well a. the young a.e of the children (p = 0.01). Conclusion: Life-threa.ening emergencies a.e frequent a.d responsible for significa.t letha.ity. Hea.th policy efforts a.e still needed to reduce this infa.t a.d child morbidity a.d morta.ity.

Introduction: In Senega., with the CDIC “Cha.ging Dia.etes In children” project, insulin ha. been ma.e free. The objective of this study wa. to eva.ua.e the a.cessibility a.d moda.ities of insulin thera.y in the ma.a.ement of type 1 dia.etes. Methodology: This wa. a.retrospective study including pa.ients followed for type 1 dia.etes (T1DM) in hospita. between a.ril 2018 a.d December 2020. Results: 281 pa.ients were included. The mea. a.e wa. 14.22 yea.s. The mea. a.e a. dia.nosis wa. 11.28 yea.s. Ketoa.idosis wa. the ma.n mode of discovery of dia.etes a. 51.6%. Premix a.d ra.id insulins were most commonly used a. 84.7% a.d 82.9% respectively, most often in combina.ion. The most commonly used trea.ment regimen wa. three injections/da. in 82.5% of ca.es. The a.era.e da.ly insulin dose wa. 0.62 IU/Kg/dr. Of the pa.ients, 219 (78%) were self-monitoring of blood glucose. The a.era.e number of blood glucose checks wa. 1.78 per da.. 76 pa.ients (27%) went da.s without a. insulin injection a.d up to 7 da.s in 51% of ca.es. The ma.n rea.ons were forgetfulness, thera.eutic errors a.d stock-outs. Hypoglyca.mia.wa. observed in 14.2%. The a.era.e glyca.ed ha.moglobin wa. 10%. Conclusion: Despite the efforts ma.e, there a.e still cha.lenges to improve a.cess to insulin. The reinforcement of thera.eutic educa.ion on insulin thera.y is essentia. for a.better qua.ity of life of dia.etic children a.d a.olescents.

Rena. cortica. necrosis (RCN) is a.ecdota. in ma.a.ia. To our knowledge, RCN seconda.y to Pla.modium ma.a.ia. ha. not yet been published. We report a.ca.e of severe ma.a.ia.complica.ed by RCN. a.29 yea. old Senega.ese pa.ient wa. tra.sferred to our depa.tment for a.uria.in a.context of severe ma.a.ia. The dia.nosis wa. RCN seconda.y to a.severe Pla.modium ma.a.ia. ma.a.ia. Physica. exa.ina.ion showed a.uria. a.a.mic syndrome, ha.morrha.ic syndrome a.d a.genera.ly impa.red condition. There wa. a.normocytic normochromic a.a.mia.a.la.tic, thrombocytopenia.leukocytosis of 11.580/mm3, serum crea.inine of 12.45 mg/dl a.d blood urea.of 252 mg/dl. The Pla.modium ma.a.ia. ha. been shown to thick blood film with high pa.a.ite density. The molecula. study wa. a.le to confirm the infesta.ion of this pa.a.ite. Trea.ment consisted of four ha.modia.ysis sessions a.d a.tima.a.ia. molecules. Initia. evolution wa. fa.oura.le with a.recovery through diuresis a.d a.pa.tia. improvement in rena. function. Given the persistence of impa.red rena. function, a.rena. biopsy wa. performed. This confirmed the RCN. a. la.t consulta.ion, he ha. no symptoms a.d his la.t glomerula. filtra.ion ra.e (GFR) wa. 30 mL/min/1.73 m2.
