Objective:Wet cupping therapy(WCT)is one of the complementary and traditional therapies that are still must be scientifically *** study aimed to assess hemogram parameters that are subclinical inflammatory markers in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome(FMS)and observe how they were affected with ***:The present study consisted of two groups;patient group included participants who were diagnosed with FMS and who received WCT and control group included healthy participants who received WCT within the concept of preventive ***:Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and platelet-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)values were higher in the patient group(P=0.029and P=0.003,respectively).Considering that the participants had FMS,the optimal cutoff value for PLR was≥1.62,sensitivity was 70%,specificity was 56%,positive predictive value was 61.7%,and negative predictive value was 65.3%.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve revealed a significant sensitivity and specificity(ROC area=0.664),(confidence interval[CI]:0.530–0.781)(P<0.023).The optimal cutoff value for PLR was≥146,sensitivity was 60%,specificity was 83%,positive predictive value was 78%,and negative predictive value was 67%.ROC curve revealed a statistically significant sensitivity and specificity(ROC area=0.726),(CI:0.59–0.83)(P<0.001).The optimal cutoff value for platelet was≥284,000,sensitivity was 83%,specificity was 40%,positive predictive value was 58%,and negative predictive value was 70%.ROC curve revealed a significant sensitivity and specificity(ROC area=0.65),(CI:0.51–0.76)(P=0.036).Conclusion:NLR,PLR,and thrombocyte count parameters can be useful in the process of diagnosing *** addition,NLR,PLR,and MPV decreased in patients who received WCT.

2-Acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid （AMPS）, and maleic acid （MA） copolymerized with different feed ratios using N,N-dimethylformamide as a solvent and benzoyl peroxide （Bz2O2） as an initiator at 70℃. Structure and composition of copolymers for a wide range of monomer feed were determined by elemental analysis （content of N for AMPS-units）. Monomer reactivity ratios for AMPS （M1）-MA （M2） pair were determined by the application of conventional linearization methods such as Fineman-Ross （F-R）, Kelen-Tudos（KT） and Extended Kelen-Tudos （EKT） and a nonlinear error invariable model method using a computer program RREVM. The characterizations were done by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）, differential scanning calorimetry （DSC） thermal gravimetry analysis （TGA）, and and X-ray diffraction. The antimicrobial effects of polymers were also tested on various bacteria, and yeast.

Air pollution is a major health problem in developing countries and has adverse effects on human health and the environment. Non-thermal plasma is an effective air pollution treatment technology. In this research, the performance of a dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) plasma reactor packed with glass and ceramic pellets was evaluated in the removal of SO_2 as a major air pollutant from air in ambient temperature. The response surface methodology was used to evaluate the effect of three key parameters(concentration of gas, gas flow rate, and voltage) as well as their simultaneous effects and interactions on the SO2 removal process. Reduced cubic models were derived to predict the SO_2 removal efficiency(RE) and energy yield(EY). Analysis of variance results showed that the packed-bed reactors(PBRs) studied were more energy efficient and had a high SO2 RE which was at least four times more than that of the non-packed reactor. Moreover, the results showed that the performance of ceramic pellets was better than that of glass pellets in PBRs. This may be due to the porous surface of ceramic pellets which allows the formation of microdischarges in the fine cavities of a porous surface when placed in a plasma discharge zone. The maximum SO_2 RE and EY were obtained at 94% and 0.81 g kWh^(-1),respectively under the optimal conditions of a concentration of gas of 750 ppm, a gas flow rate of 2lmin^(-1), and a voltage of 18 kV, which were achieved by the DBD plasma packed with ceramic pellets. Finally, the results of the model's predictions and the experiments showed good agreement.

Mercury(II) is an important factor in hepatotoxicity that can enter the body through marine diets and *** the present study,the protective effect of the Eriobotrya japonica flower extract(EJFE) on HgCl 2-induced hepatotoxicity was *** mg/kg of mercuric chloride in drinking water was given to rats either with saline or EJFE(100 and 200 mg/kg as intraperitoneal(IP)) for 30 *** mercury levels in different groups of liver tissues of the rats were measured with flameless atomic absorption spectroscopy(F-AAS).Also,mercury accumulation in the liver of the rats was modeled by using a parallel chemical kinetic *** results showed that HgCl 2-induced oxidative damage led to a significant decrease in glutathione(GSH) and the total antioxidant capacity(TAC) levels,and to a significant increase in lipid peroxidation *** mercury was 14.47% more in the livers of the stress groups than in those of the control groups(P<0.001),whereas the amount of Hg was adjusted to 13.49% and 13.93% in groups treated with 100 and 200 mg/kg of EJFE respectively,as compared with stress groups(P<0.001).HPLC analysis of EJFE revealed that hesperetin and gallic acid are the major antioxidants in *** demonstrate that flowers of the Eriobotrya japonica cause a significant protection against HgCl 2 induced hepatotoxicity in all diagnostic parameters by strengthening the antioxidant defense mechanisms and they may have a therapeutic function in free radical mediated diseases.

AIM: To investigate the oxidative-stress-related changes in rats with portal hypertension with particular emphasis on nitric oxide (NO) and trace metals. METHODS: Cirrhosis was induced by partial portal vein ligation (PVL) in Wistar rats. The lipid peroxidation marker (malondialdehyde, MDA), antioxidant defense enzymes including superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione (GSH), and agents known to have antioxidant features including nitric oxide (NO), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu) were determined both in serum and in liver tissue at 4 wk after surgery in PVL and sham-operated rats. Portal pressure of all experimental animals was measured. MDA was detected by thiobarbituric acid reactivity *** activity was determined by inhibition of nitroblue tetrazolium reduction with xanthine/xanthine oxidase used asa superoxide generator. CAT activity was determined by the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide. GSH concentrations were measured by using metaphosphoric acid for protein precipitation and 5'-5'-dithio-bis-2-nitrobenzoic acid for color development. NO was detected by the Griess method after reduction of nitrate to nitrite with nitrate reductase, and the concentrations of Zn and Cu were measured by a Shimadzu 680 AA atomic absorption spectrometer. Histopathological confirmation was done under light microscope. Statistical analyses were done by Student's t-test, and significance of the difference was tested by the unpaired Mann-Whitney test. P＜0.05 was considered statistically ***: Histopathological studies confirmed PVL induced cirrhotic changes. There was a statistically significant difference in portal pressure between PVL and control groups (P＜0.001). Hemorrhagic cystitis is a common and in its severe form potentially life threatening complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Hemorrhagic cystitis is defined as a diffuse inflammatory condition of the urinary bladder due to an infectious or noninfectious etiology resulting in bleeding from the bladder mucosa. Hemorrhagic cystitis is characterized by lower urinary tract symptoms including dysuria, hematuria and hemorrhage. The most common cause is a bacterial infection that usually responds promptly to treatment. But chronic and recurrent hemorrhagic cystitis often arises from anticancer chemotherapy or radiotherapy for the treatment of pelvic malignancies. Infectious etiologies are less common causes of chronic hemorrhagic cystitis except in immunocompromised hosts like bone marrow transplant recipients. Hemorrhagic cystitis is a significant complication of bone marrow transplantation which influences economic and survival outcome. Hemorrhagic cystitis can be divided into two classes according to onset time;early and late onset time. Earlyonset hemorrhagic cystitis is commonly associated used with chemo-radiotherapy protocols in some of the preparatory regimens. More than one factor is accused in the etiology of late onset hemorrhagic cystitis. Here, we present a patient whose hematuria started after 54 days from allogeneic stem cell transplantation.
