The Impact of the Block Freeze concentration Process on Human Milk Properties Intended for Feeding Newborns

Human milk is the ideal nutritional support for premature neonates. considering the need for aggregating nutritional value to human milk provided to such vulnerable group of infants, human milk was concentrated by the block freeze concentration technique. The effects of freeze concentration on the physicochemical properties, the efficiency of the process, color parameters, and the density and dynamic viscosity of human milk were assessed. The freeze concentration technology was used to successfully concentrate human milk to a factor equal to 180.48% and 72% of total solid retention in the second stage of freeze concentration. The values observed in the concentrates for the biochemical properties showed that the fraction of concentrated fluid human milk of the second stage (c2) presented elevated amounts of carbohydrates, protein and energy. The elevated caloric value observed in the ice fraction of the first stage (I1) refers to the retention of lipids in it. When added to human milk, c2 and I1 may satisfy the special requisites of nutrients and energy to guarantee the growth and development of preterm neonates.

Aim:To investigate the correlation of p53 and prohibitin (PHB) expression in the spectrum of hepatitis, cirrhosis, and human hepatocellular carcinoma (Hcc).Methods:Hepatic biopsies from patients with Hcc (n = 60), cirrhosis (cIR,n= 30), hepatitis c virus (HcV,n = 30), and normal livers (NL,n = 20) were examined for immunohistochemical expression of RelA/p65, tumor necrosis factor receptor-1 (TNFR1), TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL), p53, and PHB. The samples were also analysed by nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB) Southwestern histochemistry and a transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick-end labelling ***: Expression of NFκB and RelA/p65 was detected increasingly from NL to cIR, but had a diminished labelling in the Hcc cases (P creased in Hcc, but was progressively reduced from cIR to NL (P clear expressions were ampliifed in cases of Hcc, but diminished in NL, HcV, and cIR (Pconclusion: These results suggest that in addition to well-understood sequences of proinlfammatory events such as TNF-induced NFκB activation and NFκB/TRAIL pathway-mediated apoptosis, development of Hcc is also inlfuenced by regulation ofp53 andPHB tumour suppressor function. Additional studies are necessary to explain the contradictory mechanisms of the tumour microenvironment observed in the sequence of HcV, cIR, and Hcc.

The role played by Paleoproterozoic cratons in southern South America from the Mesopro- terozoic to the Early cambrian is reconsidered here. This period involved protracted continental amal- gamation that led to formation of the supercontinent Rodinia, followed by Neoproterozoic continental break-up, with the consequent opening of clymene and Iapetus oceans, and finally continental re-assembly as Gondwana through complex oblique collisions in the Late Neoproterozoic to Early cambrian. The evidence for this is based mainly on a combination of precise U-Pb SHRMP dating and radiogenic isotope data for igneous and metamorphic rocks from a large area extending from the Rio de la Plata craton in the east to the Argentine Precordillera in the west and as far north as Arequipa in Peru. Our interpretation of the paleogeographical and geodynamic evolution invokes a hypothetical Paleoproterozoic block （mara） embracing basement ultimately older than 1.7 Ga in the Western Sierras Pampeanas （Argentina）, the Arequipa block （Peru）, the Rio Apa block （Brazil）, and probably also the Paraguaia block （Bolivia）.

One of the most important goals of EU nature and water framework directives is to ensure healthy aquatic ecosystems by the protection of the most valuable species and habitats form the Natura 2000 network, while at the same time ensuring a balance between water/nature protection and the sustainable use of nature’s natural resources. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physico-chemical and microbiological characteristics of four Romanian salty plain lakes included in Natura 2000 Network, in order to assess the degree of organic pollution and to generate the knowledge required for the design and implementation of appropriate measures for maintaining the balance between the water protection and the sustainable use of these protected ecosystems. The water and sediment sampling was performed in two consecutive years (2015 and 2016), in September and the following standard parameters have been determined: pH, chemical oxygen consumption (cOc), the degree of trophicity and salinity of the environment, metals content, microbiological indicators and microbial physiological groups involved in nutrient cycling. The pH ranged from 7.56 to 8.93, close or above the upper normal limit of 8.5, being correlated with a high salinity characteristic of chlorinated, sulphated, high sodium and magnesium content waters. Despite the similar values recorded for the physico-chemical parameters in the two consecutive years suggesting a certain degree of stability of the investigated aquatic ecosystems, the cOc values indicate a high degree of hypertrophy, which could be attributed to the reduced surface area, ecological pisciculture and agriculture input. The microbiological parameters revealed the existence of both recent and chronic fecal pollution source. The high hypertrophy degree could represent a positive premise for the high productivity of the investigated ecosystems, but also an alarm signal for excessive organic pollution, with the risk of redox potential decrease which c

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different modified fats on the body weight, biochemical profile, and biomarkers of hepatic oxidative status in Balb-c mice. The animals were divided into four groups and fed for 75 days with a normolipidic (Control Group, CG) or hiperlipidic diets (40% kcal) containing a commercial interesterified fat (IFG) rich in palmitic acid (39%);a blend of non-interesterified fat (NIFG), with 2-fold less saturated fatty acids at the sn-2 position of triacylglycerols;or a partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (PHFG), source of trans fatty acid (20%) and of linolenic acid (6%). The mice of the IFG and NIFG presented similar results in all evaluated parameters. F.： A complete solution to a conjecture on chromatic uniqueness of complete tripartite graphs. Discrete Math., 289, 175 179 （2004）], and Lau and Peng [Lau, G. c., Peng, Y. H.： chromatic uniqueness of certain complete t-partite graphs. Ars comb., 92, 353-376 （2009）] show that K（p - k,p - i,p） for i = 0, 1 are chromatically unique if p ≥ k ＋ 2 ≥ 4. In this paper, we show that if 2 〈 i 〈 4, the complete tripartite graph K（p - k,p - i,p） is chromatically unique for integers k ≥ i and p 〉 k2/4 ＋ i ＋ 1.

Maternal Predictors for Quality of Life during the Postpartum in Brazilian Mothers

Introduction: The postpartum period can have a significant physical, emotional, and social impact on the quality of a woman’s life. Most postpartum research has focused on physical complications and only a few studies have specifically investigated quality of life. The purpose of this study was to explore predictors affecting the quality of life of postpartum Brazilian mothers. Study Design and Methods: A cross-sectional Quality of Life survey was performed in 210 Brazilian mothers during the early postpartum period. Data were collected using an interview technique and two instruments: 1) a maternal questionnaire and the 2) Maternal Postpartum Quality of Life tool/Brazilian version. The association between maternal characteristics and quality of life in the post-partum period was investigated with bivariate and multivariable analyses. Results: Mothers who had the best Quality of Life were white, registered students, 30 - 40 years of age, who were married or living with a partner, and without physical complaints;in addition, they had at least an 8th grade education, more than 4 children, and had attended more than 8 prenatal visits with a nurse. The stepwise model indicated that white race (p ctors of Quality of Life in postpartum women. conclusions and clinical Implications: Marital status and race conditions may predict quality of life in postpartum Brazilian mothers. In addition, improved knowledge concerning the postpartum, maternal experience may help develop health interventions to enhance the quality of life of this population.

AIM: To hypothesize a dedicated critical care nurse practitioner(NP) is associated with a decreased length of stay(LOS) from a pediatric chronic ventilator dependent unit(PcVDU).METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed patients requiring care in the PcVDU from May 2001 through May 2011 comparing the 5 years prior to the 5 years post implementation of the critical care NP in 2005. LOS and room charges were obtained. RESULTS: The average LOS decreased from a median of 55 d [interquartile range(IQR): 9.8-108.3] to a median of 12(IQR: 4.0-41.0) with the implementation of a dedicated critical care NP(P cated NP, a savings of 25738049 in room charges was noted over 5 ***: Our data demonstrates a critical care NP coverage model in a PcVDU is associated with a significantly reduced LOS demonstrating that the NP is an efficient and likely cost-effective addition to a medically comprehensive service.
