This study reports the feasibility of using municipal wastewater biosolids as an alternative carbon source for biological phosphorus *** biosolids were treated by a lowtemperature,thermal alkaline hydrolysis process patented by Lystek International Inc.(Cambridge,ON,Canada)to produce short-chain volatile fatty acids and other readily biodegradable *** sequencing batch reactors(SBRs)were operated with synthetic volatile fatty acids(Syn VFA)and readily biodegradable organics produced from the alkaline hydrolysis of municipal wastewater biosolids(Lystek)as the carbon source,*** wastewaters with different strengths and COD:N:P ratios were tested in the *** reactors’performances were compared with respect to nitrogen and phosphorus *** was observed that phosphorus removal efficiencies were between 98%–99%and 90%–97%and nitrogen removal efficiencies were 78%–81%,and 67%for the Syn VFA and Lystek,***,the kinetics for phosphorus release and uptake during the anaerobic and aerobic stages with Lystek were observed to be significantly lower than Syn VFA due to the presence of higher order VFAs(C4 and above)and other fermentable organics in the Lystek.

Nanostructured porous polyaniline(PANI)has been synthesized and coated simultaneously on a highly flexible and conductive carbon cloth(CC)substrate using a simple in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization *** coated CC(PANI-CC)based flexible electrodes were further used for the fabrication of flexible supercapacitor *** the comparison purpose,pure PANI has also been synthesized and tested for its electrochemical *** energy storage capacity of PANI and PANI–CC composite was investigated using electrochemical techniques like CV,GCD,and EIS in a potential range from 0 to 0.8 V in 1 M H_(2)SO_(4)***-CC flexible electrodes exhibited the highest specific capacitance of 691 F/g;whereas,pure PANI could only achieve 575 F/g of specific capacitance at 1 A/*** also exhibited outstanding cyclic stability by recollecting 94%of its initial capacitance after 2000 GCD *** actual implementation,a flexible supercapacitor device has been fabricated using stainless steel sheets and PANI-CC flexile *** energy storage performance of the PANI-CC flexible supercapacitor device was tested at several bending angles,which resulted in 72%of capacitance retention at a maximum bending angle of 140°compared to the capacitance obtained at an angle 0°(flat state).PANI-CC exhibited improved electrochemical performance than pure PANI due to the synergistic effect between PANI and ***,CC helped in enhancing the conductivity and stability;whereas,PANI boosted the capacitance owing to its excellent porosity and fast pseudocapacitive charge storage response.

The role of Photovoltaic technologies integrated or attached to the building envelope is crucial in managing the building energy *** this paper,the performance of PV technologies with the mounting methods of Build-ing integrated and Free-standing(Building attached)is discussed for six different climate zone of the country.A PVGIS program proposed with three PV cell technologies(Crystalline Silicon,Copper indium diselenide,Cad-mium Telluride)is used to evaluate monthly energy generation potential and losses of the 2 kW p grid-connected PV system at the latitude and 90°.A 2 kW p PV system is chosen for Economic Weaker Section(EWS)housing schemes depending upon the roof *** the evaluation,the performance parameter has been estimated.A new parameter Energy Deviation(ED),is proposed to choose the best PV technology in terms of *** results of ED agree with the parameters Performance Ratio(PR)and Capacity Factor(CF)defined under the IEC Standard *** potential generation of PV technologies at 90°varies from 41%(Warm and Humid)to 64%(Cold and Sunny)when compared with the *** case of Cold and Sunny and Cold and Cloudy at 90°,the generation performance of Copper indium diselenide is found better in Building integrated and Free-standing mounting methods,*** the remaining zones,Cadmium Telluride technology shows better *** Percentage loss in the system is found to be minimum in the case of Cold and Sunny,varies between 17%and 25%,and maximum is found for Warm and Humid and varies between 23.2%and 33.4%for the proposed PV *** grid feed-in energy from these EWS houses for all the technologies and climatic zones is found above 45%.It is seen that the combined energy generation from the envelopes(Roof,walls,and facades)makes the houses energy plus in *** study has important implications for the government to promote the building integrated Photovoltaic policies in the country.

This paper outlines the results obtained from real time microseismic monitoring of an opencast coal mine in South *** objective of the study is to investigate the stress changes within the rockmass along the slope due to underground mine development operation and their impact on the stability of the highwall *** installed microseismic systems recorded the seismic triggerings down toà2 moment *** general,most of the events recorded during the monitoring period are weak in seismic *** study adopts a simple and more reliable tool to characterize the seismically active zone for assessing the stability of the highwall in real *** impact of underground working on the slope is studied on the basis of the seismic event impact contours and seismic *** the monitoring period,it is observed that the intensity of the overall microseismic activity along the slope due to the mine development operations did not cause any adverse impact on the highwall stability.

This research proposes a design and development strategy of a new nickel-based superalloy for additive manufacturing.A new Ni-based superalloy has been developed by the application of the combinatorial alloy development technique coupled with CALPHAD based solidification modeling by effectively suppressing the precipitation *** suppression of precipitation during processing paved a way for prevention of cracks during *** new alloy "WSU 150" revealed excellent room temperature mechanical properties with a yield strength of 867 MPa,an ultimate tensile strength of 1188 MPa,and an elongation of 27.9% in the as-deposited *** mechanical properties of the heat-treated alloy were improved significantly to 1114 MPa yield strength,1396 MPa ultimate tensile strength,and an elongation of 16.1%.Improvement in the mechanical properties is attributed to the additional precipitation and coarsening of γ’ and carbides during *** investigation of the alloy revealed spherical γ’ with a rippled size distribution from the center to the interdendritic *** average size of the γ’ particles in the as-deposited condition was found to be around 48 nm in the interdendritic ***-treatment promoted the coarsening of γ’ which is explained in the paper.

Fifth-generation(5G)systems have brought about new challenges toward ensuring Quality of Service(QoS)in differentiated *** includes low latency applications,scalable machine-to-machine communication,and enhanced mobile broadband *** order to satisfy these requirements,the concept of network slicing has been introduced to generate slices of the network with specific *** order to meet the requirements of network slices,routers and switches must be effectively configured to provide priority queue provisioning,resource contention management and *** routers from vendors,such as Ericsson,Cisco,and Juniper,have traditionally been an expert-driven process with static rules for individual flows,which are prone to sub optimal configurations with varying traffic *** this paper,we model the internal ingress and egress queues within routers via a queuing *** effects of changing queue configuration with respect to priority,weights,flow limits,and packet drops are studied in *** is used to train a model-based Reinforcement Learning(RL)algorithm to generate optimal policies for flow prioritization,fairness,and congestion *** efficacy of the RL policy output is demonstrated over scenarios involving ingress queue traffic policing,egress queue traffic shaping,and one-hop router coordinated traffic *** is evaluated over a real application use case,wherein a statically configured router proved sub optimal toward desired QoS *** automated configuration of routers and switches will be critical for multiple 5G deployments with varying flow requirements and traffic patterns.

Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) fibers, obtained from the heat treatment of composite fibers (polymer/inorganic precursors), were successfully prepared by using the blow-spinning technique. A chemical solution containing Li and Nb ions, added to poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) solution, was used as precursor solution. The best condition for producing composite fibers was determined. The morphology of green and crystallized fibers was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and revealed fibrous structure with an average diameter around 800 nm. X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurement revealed a pure LiNbO3 (LN) phase formation. Detailed studies of dielectric response at various frequencies and temperatures exhibited a dielectric anomaly at 364 ℃. The electrical properties (impedance, modulus, and conductivity) of the fibers were studied using impedance spectroscopy technique. The contributions of grain and grain boundary effects were observed in the LN fibers. The activation energy of the composite fibers was found to be 1.5 eV in the high temperature region (325–400 ℃).

A dynamic model for exploring water-resource management scenarios in an inland arid area: Shanshan County, Northwestern China

Water scarcity is a challenge in many arid and semi-arid regions; this may lead to a series of environmental problems and could be stressed even further by the effects from climate change. This study focused on the water resource management in Shanshan County, an inland arid region located in northwestern China with a long history of groundwater overexploitation. A model of the supply and demand system in the study area from 2006 to2030, including effects from global climate change,was developed using a system dynamics(SD)modeling tool. This SD model was used to 1) explore the best water-resource management options by testing system responses under various scenarios and2) identify the principal factors affecting the responses, aiming for a balance of the groundwater system and sustainable socio-economic *** causes were identified as primarily responsible for water issues in Shanshan: low water-use efficiency low water reuse, and increase in industrial waterdemand. To address these causes, a combined scenario was designed and simulated, which was able to keep the water deficiency under 5% by 2030. The model provided some insights into the dynamic interrelations that generate system behavior and the key factors in the system that govern water demand and supply. The model as well as the study results may be useful in water resources management in Shanshan and may be applied, with appropriate modifications, to other regions facing similar water management challenges.

We present the first experimental observation of Anderson localization in the terahertz frequency range using plasmonic *** accomplish this goal,we designed THz waveguides consisting of a one-dimensional array of rectangular apertures that were fabricated in a freestanding metal *** is introduced into the waveguide by offsetting the position of each aperture by a random distance within a prescribed *** example,for a waveguide with apertures spaced by 250μm in a periodic waveguide,10%disorder would correspond to the apertures being shifted by a random value between±25μm along the waveguide *** find that for disorder levels below 25%,there is only an increase in the propagation loss along the ***,for two specific waveguides with 25%disorder,we observe a spatially localized mode that lies just within the stop band of the device and exhibits a double-sided exponential spatial decay away from the maximum.
