Unified FPGA Design for the HEVC Dequantiz.tion and Inverse Transform Modules

As the newest standard,the High Efficiency Video Coding(HEVC)is specially designed to minimiz. the bitrate for video data transfer and to support High Definition(HD)and ULTRA HD video resolutions at the cost of increasing computational complexity relative to earlier standards like the ***,real-time video decoding with HEVC decoder becomes a challenging ***,the Dequantiz.tion and Inverse Transform(DE/IT)are one of the computationally intensive modules in the HEVC decoder which are used to reconstruct the residual ***,in this paper,a unified hardware architecture is proposed to implement the HEVC DE/IT module for all Transform Unit(TU)block siz.,including 4×4,8×8,16×16 and 32×*** architecture is designed using the High-Level Synthesis(HLS)and the Low-Level Synthesis(LLS)methods in order to compare and determine the best method to implement in real-time the DE/IT *** fact,the C/C++programming language is used to generate an optimiz.d hardware design for DE/IT module through the Xilinx Vivado HLS *** the other hand,the LLS hardware architecture is designed by the VHSIC Hardware Description language(VHDL)and using the pipeline technique to decrease the processing *** experimental results on the Xilinx XC7z.20 FPGA show that the LLS design increases the throughput in term of frame rate by 80%relative to HLS design with a 4.4%increase in the number of Look-Up Tables(LUTs).Compared with existing related works in literature,the proposed architectures demonstrate significant advantages in hardware cost and performance improvement.

Properties of Titanium Oxynitride Prepared by RF Plasma

Titanium oxynitrides combine the properties of metallic oxides and nitrides. In this presentation, titanium was oxynitrided using inductively coupled RF plasma in a gas mixture containing 80% N2 and 20% O2. The effect of plasma-processing power from 350 up to 550 W on microstructure, mechanical, tribological, wettability and electrochemical properties of the oxynitrided titanium was examined using different characteriz.tions and testing techniques. The results demonstrated the formation of TiO, TiO2 rutile phase, TiNxOy and Ti2N as a result of plasma oxynitriding. The micro-hardness of the oxynitrided layers increases up to 766 HV0.1 as the plasma-processing power increases up to 550 W. The wear and corrosion resistance are improved for oxynitrided titanium in comparison with untreated samples. Moreover, the friction coefficient decreases from nearly 0.75 for the pure titanium to nearly 0.3 for oxynitrided titanium. The obtained data show an increase of surface energy and wettability of titanium oxynitride as the plasma power increases. The formation of hard oxide and oxynitride phases and the transformation of TiO2 from anatase to rutile structure at relatively high temperature are the main reasons for the good physical and electrochemical properties of titanium oxynitride.

Performance Evaluation of One-Way Concrete Slabs Reinforced with New Developed GFRP Bars

The incorporation of fiber-reinforced-polymer (FRP) bars in construction as a replacement to steel bars provides a superior material which is capable to overcome corrosion problems. However, serviceability requirements are important issues to be considered in the design of concrete elements reinforced with glass-FRP (GFRP) bars which are known to have larger deflections and wider crack widths as well as weaker bond compared with steel reinforced concrete. As a solution to this problem, square GFRP bars are proposed. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation that was performed, in which newly developed square and circular GFRP bars were fabricated in the lab. Also, the GFRP bars were tested and used to reinforce concrete slabs. A total of nine full-scale GFRP-reinforced concrete (RC) one-way slabs were constructed, tested and analyz.d, considering the most influencing parameters such as the cross sectional shape of GFRP bars, reinforcement ratio, the concrete characteristics strength, and adding polypropylene fibers to the concrete mixture. The test results were showed that, the tested slabs with GFRP square bars improved the deflection and cracking behavior as well as the ultimate load.

Multi-Detector Row Computed Tomography Urography (MDCTU) in the Evaluation of Microscopic Hematuria in Adults

Multi-detector row computed tomography urography (MDCTU) becomes the imaging modality of choice for evaluation of the kidneys and urinary tract. The aim of this study was to discuss and illustrate the role of MDCTU, on a 32-row CT scanner in the evaluation a variety of entities that were frequently associated with microscopic hematuria in adults. This prospective cohort study was performed in the period of August 2013 to October 2014. Fifty positive participants to microscopic hematuria were examined at the radiology department of Alnilin Diagnostic Medical Center and Antalya Medical Center. Computed tomography urography (CTU) scanning was performed using two powerful performances, high speed multi-detector row on 32-row CT scanners (Siemens Healthcare Global, Somatom Emotion Duo Eco). Statistical analysis was done through the standard Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) version 15 for windows. MDCTU established the correct cause of microscopic hematuria in (44;88%) of participants. In (6;12%) of participants, no cause of hematuria was identified based on the standard of references. The causes of hematuria in (41;82%) participants were diseases in the upper urinary tract, while urinary bladder neoplasms (2;4%) and diverticulum (1;2%) were the causes of hematuria (3;6%) in the lower urinary tract. Thirty two-row MDCTU scanner demonstrated satisfactory results in the investigation of microscopic hematuria, being able to demonstrate a wide spectrum of diseases affecting the urinary tract is the main advantage of the technique.

CRKL and CK2 <i>β</i>over Expression Are Independent Predictors of Patients Survival in Endometrioid Endometrial Carcinoma

Context: The prognostic significance of expression of V-Crk avian sarcoma virus CT10 oncogene homolog-like (CRKL) and Protein kinase CK2 β in endometroid carcinoma is not fully clarified. Aim: To assess the prognostic values and clinicopathological roles of CRKL and CK2 β expression in endometroid carcinoma by correlation their expression levels with clinicopathological parameters, response to therapy, and recurrence of the tumor and patients survival. Settings: Faculty of Medicine, z.gaz.g University, and Mansoura University. Methods: CRKL and CK2 β expressions were evaluated in 50 paraffin blocks EC patients that were followed up for 5 years. The relationship between their level of expressions, clinicopathological criteria and prognosis of patients was analyz.d. Statistical analysis used: SPSS 22.0 for windows (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) and MedCalc windows (Software bvba 13, Ostend, Belgium). Results: High expression of CRKL and CK was positively correlated with higher grade of the tumor (p = 0.004 and 0.006 respectively), presence of L.N metastases (p = 0.009 and 0.003 respectively), presence of distant metastases (p = 0.029 and 0.003 respectively) and advanced FIGO stage (p 0.001), poor response to therapy (p = 0.046 and 0.005 respectively), higher incidence of recurrence of the tumor after therapy (p = 0.004 and 0.048 respectively), higher incidence of cancer progression p = 0.018 and 0.044 respectively), poor PFS (p = 0.008 and 0.013 respectively), and OS rates

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is significant publichealth problem in rich countries of the world, because of its frequency and mostly because of its severity. Our aim was to improve histologic diagnosis of malignancy with topographic coloration (HE) and cytokeratins 7, 20 immuno-labeling. The risk for colorectal cancer incease with age, but in our series, 10% of colorectal cancer exist in patients younger than 40 years old. In histological study, adenocarcinoma represented 100% and the evaluation for stage of disease showed that the most dominant isstage IV (32.6%). In our trial, we found that cytokeratins 7 and 20 immunoreactivity in colorectal adenocarcinoma are often positive for cytokeratin-20 and most of time negative for cytokeratin-7.

Decorin treatment of spinal cord injury

The scarring response after a penetrant central nervous system injury results from the interaction between invading leptominingeal/pericyte-derived fibroblasts and endogenous reactive astrocytes about the wound margin. Extracellular matrix and scar-derived axon growth inhibitory mole- cules fill the lesion site providing both a physical and chemical barrier to regenerating axons. Dec orin, a small leucine-rich chondroitin-dermatan sulphate proteoglycan expressed by neurons and astrocytes in the central nervous system, is both anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory and attenu- ates the formation and partial dissolution of established and chronic scars. Here, we discuss the potential of using Decorin to antagonise scarring in the central nervous system.
