畜牧业产生的甲烷是引起全球变暖的主要因素。地球气候变暖成为全球重要问题之一。本研究中在体外条件下研究不同浓度的桉叶油对瘤胃中生产甲烷的抑制作用。试验设计为:不同精粗比的饲粮,分别为70:30和60:40。饲粮干物质中桉叶油的浓度分别为0 mL/kg、2 mL/kg、4 mL/kg、6 mL/kg、8 mL/kg和10 mL/kg。试验采用的瘤胃原液从两只健康瘘管绵羊获取,分别在3 h、6 h、9 h、12 h、24 h、36 h、48 h和72 h,检测气压(GP)、甲烷产量(CH4)。发酵(72 h)结束后,检测挥发性脂肪酸(VFA)、氨态氮(NH3)、干物质降解率(DMD)及有机物降解率(OMD)、pH值和原生动物数等。结果表明,不同浓度的桉叶油处理条件下,甲烷产量有所降低(P<0.05)。在精粗比30:70的处理中,2 mL/kg组的甲烷产量较对照组减少32%,10 mL/kg组的甲烷产量较对照组减少38%。在精粗比60:40的处理中,2 mL/kg组的甲烷产量较对照组减少42%,10 mL/kg组的甲烷产量较0 mL/kg组减少46%。在所有精粗比处理中,通过提高桉叶油的浓度,与0 mL/kg组相比,原虫数量显著下降(P<0.05)。NH3浓度较0 mL/kg组下降,在精粗比为60:40组中不显著,在70:30中显著(P<0.05)。在所有精粗比处理中,随着桉叶油浓度的提高,A/P值、DMD和OMD都显著下降(P<0.05)。除了精粗比70:30处理中的10 mL/kg组,其他各组的pH值没有显著差异。综上,2 mL/kg组为效率最高组。该浓度的桉叶油降低甲烷气体为最佳浓度。同时成本也是最低的。

BACKGROUND Down syndrome(DS)is one of the most common causes of intellectual *** with DS have varying intelligence quotient(IQ)that can predict their learning *** To assess the brain metabolic profiles of children with DS and compare them to standard controls,using magnetic resonance spectroscopy(MRS)and correlating the results with *** This case-control study included 40 children with DS aged 6-15 years and 40 age and sex-matched healthy children as *** was used to evaluate ratios of choline/creatine(Cho/Cr),N-acetyl aspartic acid/creatine(NAA/Cr),and myoinositol/creatine(MI/Cr(in the frontal,temporal,and occipital lobes and basal ganglia and compared to controls and correlated with *** Children with DS showed significant reductions in NAA/Cr and MI/Cr and a non-significant reduction in Cho/Cr in frontal lobes compared to ***,we observed significant decreases in NAA/Cr,MI/Cr,and Cho/Cr in the temporal and occipital lobes and basal ganglia in children with DS compared to ***,there was a significant correlation between IQ and metabolic ratios in the brains of children with *** Brain metabolic profile could be a good predictor of IQ in children with DS.

The Effect of Oral Nifedipine versus Parenteral Magnesium Sulfate and Ritodrine for Tocolysis in Patients with Threatened Preterm Labor: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background: Preterm labor is a serious cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. This study aims to compare the effects of nifedipine, Magnesium sulfate and ritodrine as tocolytic drugs in patients presented with threatened preterm labor. Patients and Methods: The current study was randomized controlled trial conducted in Sohag Teaching Hospital between November 2015 and September 2016. Patients were divided into: Group A: 101 patients received intravenous ritodrine infusion;Group B: 101 patients received intravenous magnesium sulfate;Group C: 101 patients received oral nifedipine. Different maternal and neonatal outcomes were assessed. Results: The baseline criteria were homogenous among the study groups with no statistically significant differences. There is no difference between each other group regarding the need for additional tocolysis or the rate of recurrence of labour pains. Nifedipine was associated with the least length of hospital stay. There is no difference between all groups regarding the rate of preterm delivery before full steroid dose (p > 0.05). However, nifedipine group was the least one in the rate of occurrence of preterm delivery within 7 days from initiation of tocolytic therapy. Similarly, nifedipine group was associated with higher gestational age at delivery and significant prolongation of pregnancy than the other groups. Conclusion: Oral nifedipine use was associated with less recurrence of labor pains, less need for additional tocolysis, less duration of hospital stay, and more patient satisfaction in patients with threatened preterm labour.

Excision and Partial Primary Closure of Wound for Pilonidal Disease

Background: Pilonidal disease is a common chronic disorder of the sacrococcygeal region;and its surgical management is still a matter of discussion. The ideal therapy would be a quick cure that allowed patients to return rapidly to normal activity, that is minimally invasive with no morbidity, a low risk of complication and easy to learn. Methods: Sixty seven patients with pilonidal disease were subjected to excision and partial closure procedure, from November 2006 to March 2010 at General Surgery Department, Zagazig University Hospital, Zagazig University, Egypt. The mean age was 27.5 years. Complete but close excision of all diseased tissues was achieved. Then, the wound partially was closed from the deepest parts only by multiples buried vertical mattress sutures by using Lasheen’s needle, and left the superficial wound parts to heal by second intention. The follow up period was ranged from 14 - 39 months (mean 27 months). Results: The mean hospital stay was 12 hours, mean operation time was 30 minutes and mean time to return to normal activity was 8 days (range 7 - 12 days). Nine cases show superficial wound infection and one case of recurrence. Conclusion: Excision and partially closure technique by using Lasheen’s needle for pilonidal diseases is minimal invasive and less morbidity, easy to learn and has favorable results regarding to return to normal activity, rate of recurrence and cosmetically acceptable.

Heuristic and metaheuristic techniques are used for solving computationally hard optimization problems. Local search is a heuristic technique while Ant colony optimization (ACO), inspired by the ants' foraging behavior, is one of the most recent metaheuristic technique. These techniques are used for solving optimization problems. Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) detection problem is an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem. We present heuristic and metaheuristic approaches for symbol detection in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system. Since symbol detection is an NP-hard problem so ACO is particularly attractive as ACO algorithms are one of the most successful strands of swarm intelligence and are suitable for applications where low complexity and fast convergence is of absolute importance. Maximum Likelihood (ML) detector gives optimal results but it uses exhaustive search technique. We show that 1-Opt and ACO based detector can give near-optimal bit error rate (BER) at much lower complexity levels. Comparison of ACO with another nature inspired technique, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is also discussed. The simulation results suggest that the proposed detectors give an acceptable performance complexity trade-off in comparison with ML and VBLAST detectors.

Wastewater Decontamination from Microorganisms by Electrospraying Corona Discharge

A novel water treatment technique, based on a combination of electrospraying and pulsed corona discharge, has been used for bio-decontamination of wastewater. The electrospraying process has been found to increase the surface area of the treated wastewater, and hence increases the efficiency of the corona treatment process. The phase diagram of the discharge, which characterizes the discharge regimes, has been identified experimentally. The survival ratio of the microorganisms has been investigated experimentally as a function of the applied voltage and the numbers of treatment runs using air and oxygen as working gases. Microorganism surface has been examined using scanning electron microscope (SEM), which enabled in understanding the decontamination mechanisms of the treated microorganism. A complete decontamination has been achieved after only one run for an applied voltage higher than 16 kV when the discharge system was operated in oxygen gas. Optical emission spectrum of the electrosprayed water confirmed the existence of OH-radicals responsible for decontamination process.

The fifth generation (5G) New Radio (NR) has been developed to provide significant improvements in scalability, flexibility, and efficiency in terms of power usage and spectrum as well. To meet the 5G vision, service and performance requirements, various candidate technologies have been proposed in 5G new radio;some are extensions of 4G and, some are developed explicitly for 5G. These candidate technologies include non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA), and Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) channel coding. In addition, deploying software defined radio (SDR) instead of traditional hardware modules. In this paper we build an open source SDR-based platform to realize the transceiver of the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) of 5G NR according to Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standard. We provide a prototype for pairing between two 5G users using NOMA technique. In addition, a suitable design for LDPC channel coding is performed. The intermediate stage of segmentation, rate matching and interleaving are also carried out in order to realize a standard NR frame. Finally, experiments are carried out in both simulation and real time scenario on the designed 5G NR for the purpose of system performance evaluation, and to demonstrate its potential in meeting future 5G mobile network challenges.

Association of the Monocyte to HDL Cholesterol Ratio with Thrombus Burden in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome

Background: Intracoronary thrombus burden is associated with some adverse events and poor prognosis in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome. Identifying predictors of the intracoronary thrombus burden may contribute to the management of Acute Coronary Syndrome. Objective: To assess the correlation between the Monocyte to HDL Cholesterol ratio with thrombus burden in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome. Patients and Methods: 138 patients with ACS who were admitted to CCU department in National Heart Institute Cairoand Menoufia University Hospitals, Menoufia, underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Angiographic thrombus burden was classified based on thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) thrombus grades. The patients were grouped into 2 categories of low thrombus burden (grades 0 - 3) (49.7%) and high thrombus burden (grades 4 and 5) (50.3%). Results: On analysis we found that the MHR was significantly higher in the high thrombus burden group compared with the low thrombus (0.052 ± 0.019 vs 0.014 ± 0.008);P 0.001. Conclusion: Among Acute Coronary Syndrome patients underwent Primary PCI, MHR was independent predictor of high thrombus burden in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome.
