Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) occurs upon restoration of hepatic blood flow after a period of ischemia. Decreased endogenous nitric oxide (NO) production resulting in capillary luminal narrowing is central in the pathogenesis of IRI. Exogenous NO has emerged as a potential therapy for IRI based on its role in decreasing oxidative stress,cytokine release,leukocyte endothelial-adhesion and hepatic apoptosis. This review will highlight the influence of endogenous NO on hepatic IRI,role of inhaled NO in ameliorating IRI,modes of delivery,donor drugs and potential side effects of exogenous NO.

In line with recent attention on porous metals having low and medium porosities in the range of 20-50%, this paper studies the effect of porosity on the mechanical properties of sintered copper compacts. Experiments were designed to investigate the effect of porosity, applied stress and sliding velocity on the wear rate of copper compacts, leading to the finding that the effects of both porosity and applied stress of the wear test on the wear rate are approximately similar and higher than that of sliding velocity. The investigation concerning the effect of porosity on compressive strength indicated that the stress-strain curve of high-porosity compact exhibited identifiable ultimate strength points, though low-porosity compact showed distinct stages of elastic plastic behavior.

Nanothermites (metal oxide/metal) can offer tremendously exothermic self sustained reactions. CuO is one of the most effective oxidizers for naonothermite applications. This study reports on two prospectives for the manufacture of CuO nanoparticles. Colloidal CuO particles of 15 nm particle size were developed using hydrothermal synthesis technique. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with surface are 700m2/g was employed as a substrate for synthesis of CuO-coated MWCNTs using electroless plating. On the other hand, aluminium particles with combustion heat of 32000 J/g is of interest as high energy density material. The impact of stoichiometric nanothermite particles (CuO/Al & Cuo-coated MWCNTs/Al) on shock wave strength of Al/TNT nanocomposite was evaluated using ballistic mortar test. While CuO-coated MWCNTs decreased the shock wave strength by 15%;colloidal CuO enhanced the shock wave strength by 30%. The superior performance of colloidal CuO particles was correlated to their steric stabilization with employed organic solvent. This is the first time ever to report on fabrication, isolation, and integration of stablilized colloidal nanothermite particles into energetic matrix where intimate mixing between oxidizer and metal fuel could be achieved.

The risk of liver injury in patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)infection is quite ***,liver function test abnormalities are still detected in COVID-19 patients despite the development of antivirals and the availability of several types of *** editorial describes liver involvement during COVID-19 infection in patients with or without preexisting liver injury,such as chronic liver disease,to elucidate COVID-19-induced liver function abnormalities and their severity,pathophysiology,clinical manifestations,and clinical and laboratory *** also discuss the effect of vaccination against COVID-19 to better understand host factors,such as age,gender,and race,on the incidence and severity of liver dysfunction at initial presentation and during the ***,we summarize the results of relevant meta-analyses published to date and highlight the importance of adequate liver function monitoring in the current climate of the overwhelming COVID-19 pandemic.

This work achieved the encapsulation of valuable bioactive substances from Aucklandia costus(AC)in nanophytosomes as a new phytoconstituent delivery *** fluid extraction(SfE)and solvent-maceration methods were used to extract oil and phenolics from AC,*** physicochemical characterization of SfE-oil and phenolic extract(PE)-High-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)and Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC-MS)were used to identify and quantify all compounds extracted from AC using both extraction *** nanophytosomes was studied using dynamic light scattering(DLS),encapsulation efficiency(EE),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The in vitro digestibility of SfE-oil and PE-loaded nanophytosomes after in vitro digestion was *** was selected as a food model for fortification with AC-loaded nanophytosomes at different concentrations(5%,10%,and 15%).pH,acidity,water holding capacity(WHC),and viscosity were evaluated in all yoghurt samples during storage,while color analysis and sensory evaluation were evaluated at 0 *** SfE-oil-and PE-loaded nanophytosomes showed promising results,and the bioavailability suggested that nanoencapsulation provided a controlled release of the phenolic and flavonoid ***,the addition of AC-loaded nanophytosomes into yoghurt resulted in increases in the viscosity(16.53 Pa s-1)and decreases in WHC(59.50%).Yoghurts with AC-loaded nanophytosomes were more stable than the control(yoghurt without nanophytosomes).Overall,the current findings indicated that AC-loaded nanophytosomes would be a preferable candidate for incorporation into yoghurt to improve its *** research might provide scientific evidence supporting AC-loaded nanophytosomes as possible fortifying elements in manufacturing functional yoghurt and a new vision for designing unique dairy products with functional qualities.

Impact of auditory stimulation nursing protocol on auditory response in cerebrovascular stroke patients

Objectives:The objective of the study was to explore the impact of auditory stimulation protocol on auditory response in cerebrovascular stroke(CVS)*** and Methods:A pre-posttest nonequivalent control group quasi-experimental study was conducted at Al Mainal Hospital at Al Kars Einy Hospital,Cairo University,among 60 CVS patients,and the sample was randomly assigned through a coin to allocate subjects to study or control group(30 for each group).Auditory stimulation techniques were applied three times per week for the study group for two consecutive *** in the control group received only routine hospital care during the study *** Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS)score for assessing the neurological function and level of arousal and the auditory subscale score of Western Neuro Sensory Stimulation Profile(WNSSP)for assessing auditory response were recorded and compared between the two groups before and after the ***:There were statistically significant differences between the study group and the control group regarding third reading of GCS score(11.5±0.3 vs.10.6±0.9,t=4.676,P=0.000).The scores of all auditory subscales of WNSSP in the study groups increased after implementing the auditory stimulation protocol(Pffective method for enhancing hearing responses in individuals with CVS.

AIM: To investigate and clarify, for the first time, the role of inosine triphosphate pyrophosphatase (ITPA ) polymorphism in Egyptian chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) ***:The human genomic DNA of all patients was extracted from peripheral blood cells in order to determine the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of ITPA (rs1127354). SNP genotyping was performed by real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR, ABI TaqMan allelic discrimination kit) for 102 treatment-naive Egyptian patients with chronic HCV. All patients had no evidence of cardiovascular or renal diseases. They received a combination treatment of pegylated interferon α (PEG-IfNα) as a weekly subcutaneous dose plus an oral weight-adjusted dose of ribavirin (RBV). The majority received PEG-IfNα2a (70.6%) while 29.4% received PEG-IfNα2b. The planned duration of treatment was 24-48 wk according to the viral kinetics throughout the course of treatment. Pre-treatment liver biopsy was done for each patient for evaluation of fibrosis stage and liver disease activity. The basal viral load level was detected quantitatively by real time PCR while viral load throughout the treatment course was performed qualitatively by COBAS TaqMan assay. RESULTS: Ninety-three patients (91.2%) had ITPA SNP CC genotype and 9 (8.8%) had non-CC genotype (CA and AA). The percentage of hemoglobin (Hb) decline was higher for CC patients than for non-CC patients, particularly at weeks 4 and 8 (P=0.047 and 0.034, respectively). During the first 12 wk of treatment, CC patients had significantly more Hb decline > 3 g/dL than non-CC patients: 64.5% vs 22.2% at weeks 8 and 12, respectively, (P=0.024 and 0.038). Reduction of the amount of the planned RBV dose was significantly higher for CC patients than non-CC patients during the first 12 wk (18% ± 12.1% vs 8.5% ± 10.2%, P=0.021). Spectrum management and resource allocation(RA)problems are challenging and critical in a vast number of research areas such as wireless communications and computer *** traditional approaches for solving such problems usually consume time and memory,especially for large-size *** different machine learning approaches have been considered as potential promising techniques for combinatorial optimization problems,especially the generative model of the deep neural *** this work,we propose a resource allocation deep autoencoder network,as one of the promising generative models,for enabling spectrum sharing in underlay device-to-device(D2D)communication by solving linear sum assignment problems(LSAPs).Specifically,we investigate the performance of three different architectures for the conditional variational autoencoders(CVAE).The three proposed architecture are the convolutional neural network(CVAECNN)autoencoder,the feed-forward neural network(CVAE-fNN)autoencoder,and the hybrid(H-CVAE)*** simulation results show that the proposed approach could be used as a replacement of the conventional RA techniques,such as the Hungarian algorithm,due to its ability to find solutions of LASPs of different sizes with high accuracy and very fast execution ***,the simulation results reveal that the accuracy of the proposed hybrid autoencoder architecture outperforms the other proposed architectures and the state-of-the-art DNN techniques.

Electrospinning is a simple technique used to fabricate polymeric nano-fibrous *** nano-fibers have found a wide range of valuable applications in the biomedical ***,it has not been utilized with solid high explosives ***,the electrospinning technique has been used to fabricate polystyrene(PS)/1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazinane(RDX)composite *** governed electrospinning parameters,voltage,distance from the collector,flow rate,mandrel rotating speed,time,and solution concentration,that greatly affect the morphology of the obtained nanofibers were *** fabricated PS/RDX nano-fibers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffractometer(XRD),and fourier Transform Infrared(fTIR)*** impact and friction sensitivities of PS/RDX were also *** thermal behavior of the prepared composite and the pure materials were studied by the thermal gravimetric analysis technique(TGA).SEM results proved the fabrication of PS/RDX fibers in the nano-size via *** spectroscopy confirmed the existence of the characteristic functional groups of both PS and RDX in the composite *** sharp peaks showed the conversion of amorphous PS into crystalline shape via electrospinning and also confirmed the formation of PS/RDX *** PS fibers absorbed the heat and increased the onset decomposition of the pure RDX from 181.5 to 200.7℃in the case of PS/RDX ***,PS/RDX nano-fibers showed the relatively low impact and friction sensitivities of 100 J and 360 N *** results could introduce PS/RDX nanofibrous composite in the field of explosives detection with high levels of safety.
