A Novel Approach in Hydrogeochemical exploration for Uranium Mineralization:an example from West Central Sinai,egypt

Groundwater in contact with ore deposits may acquire a chemical composition that could be used as a guide for exploration. eight well-water samples are collected from a known uraniummineralized area near Abu Zenima, west central Sinai to examine the applicability of using the hydrogeochemical technique in the search for uranium mineralization in similar arid areas. The analytical chemical data of the ground water is compared with ground radiometric measurements. The obtained results indicate that groundwater affected by uranium mineralization has a specific relativity of major anions expressed essentially as SO_4〉Cl〉HCO_3 and to a lesser extent as Cl〉SO_4〉HCO_3, associated as a rule with low magnesium content. This association constitutes a signature of uranium mineralization on the composition of groundwater in west central Sinai and could be used as an important exploration guide in the search for uranium deposits in similar areas. Anomalies in Ni, Fe, Zn and Cr and other pathfinder elements in groundwater can furnish geochemical guides to uranium ores. The immobile trace.element anomalies, including Zn, Ni and Fe are strongly distributed near the orebody; whereas the relatively mobile trace.elements, including Co, U, V and Cr, constitute the dispersion haloes away from the orebody. A new hydrogeochemical discrimination diagram is constructed to be used as a quick and cost effective exploration tool in the search for uranium occurrences in environmentally similar arid areas. Based on the obtained results, a new site for uranium occurrence, west of W. Baba, is delineated and recommended for future detailed geological and geochemical surveying.

The Safaga Region(SR)is part of the Red Sea mountain range in *** flash flooding is now an inescapable event,wreaking havoc and causing massive loss of life and *** majority of the floodwater,however,has been wasted as runoff to the Red Sea,which,if used wisely,could meet a fraction of the water demands for a variety of applications in this *** current work aims to use GIS techniques to integrate remote sensing data for evaluating,mitigating,and managing flash floods in *** data set comprised Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission(TRMM)thematic rainfall data,1:50,000 scale topographical map sheets,geological maps,the ASTeR Digital elevation Model(ASTeR GDeM),Landsat 7 enhanced Thematic Mapper"(eTM7+),and Landsat 8 Operational Land *** flash flood risk model of SR is de.eloped using ArcGIS-10.3 geoprocessing tools integrating all the causal factors thematic *** final flood risk model for the SR suggests that 57%of the total basins in the SR are at high risk of *** 38%of all basins are at moderate flood *** remaining 5%of basins are less prone to ***-prone zones were identified,suitable dam-building sites were located,and extre.ely probable areas for water recharge were *** the basis of reliable scientific data,structural and non-structural mitigation strategies that might reduce the damage susceptibility,alleviate the sensitivity of the flash flood,and best utilize its water supply were recommended.

The present drinking water purification system in egypt uses surface water as a raw water supply without a preliminary filtration *** the other hand,chlorine gas is added as a disinfectant agent in two steps,pre-and *** to these reasons most of water treatment plants suffer low filtering effectiveness and produce the trihalomethane(THM) species as a chlorination *** Ismailia Canal represents the most distal downstream of the main Nile *** its water contains all the proceeded pollutants discharged into the *** addition,the downstream reaches of the canal act as an agricultural drain during the closing period of the High Dam gates in January and February every ***,the wide industrial zone along the upstream course of the canal enriches the canal water with high concentrations of heavy *** obtained results indicate that the canal gains up to 24.06×106 m3 of water from the surrounding shallow aquifer during the closing period of the High Dam gates,while during the rest of the year,the canal acts as an influent stream losing about 99.6×106 m3 of its water *** reduction of total organic carbon(TOC) and suspended particulate matters(SPMs) should be one of the central goals of any treatment plan to avoid the disinfectants *** combination of sedimentation basins,gravel pre-filtration and slow sand filtration,and underground passage with microbiological oxidation-reduction and adsorption criteria showed good removal of parasites and bacteria and complete.elimination of TOC,SPM and heavy ***,it reduces the use of disinfectants chemicals and lowers the treatment ***,this purification system under the arid climate prevailing in egypt should be tested and modified prior to application.

Objective: To investigate molecular and serological prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii(***) in pregnant women and sheep in ***: Blood samples collected from healthy 364 pregnant women and 170 sheep were investigated for *** antibodies and parasitemia using highly specific and sensitive surface antigen(TgSAG2) based enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(elISA)and real time-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results: Overall prevalence of *** was 51.76%, 17.65% in sheep, 33.79%, 11.81%in pregnant women, using elISA and RT-PCR *** differences in *** prevalence were observed on the basis of contact with cats or soil in pregnant women using either RT-PCR or *** pregnant women, a significant increase was detected in aged and those eating under-cooked mutton using simultaneous elISA/***: Consumption of under-cooked infected mutton is an important source of human infection and the combination of the two assays provide accurate and precise data during infection.

Impact of topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in prevention of macular edema following cataract surgery in diabetic patients

AIM： To evaluate the efficacy of prophylactic administration of topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs（NSAIDs） on macular edema following cataract surgery in diabetic patients, and to compare between types of NSAIDs（ketorolac tromethamine 0.4% and nepafenac 0.1%）. MeTHODS： Group 1（control） received artificial tears substitute as a placebo group, group 2（nepafenac） received topical nepafenac 0.1%, and group 3（ketorolac） received topical ketorolac tromethamine 0.4%. Patients were examined postoperatively after completing one week, one month, two months and three months＇ intervals for evaluating cystoid macular edema（CMe） de.elopment. The main study outcomes were achieving the best corrected visual acuity（BCVA） and change in the central macular thickness（CMT） measured with optical coherence topography（OCT）.ReSULTS： eighty eyes of 76 patients were included in this study. BCVA showed a statistically significant difference at the third month postoperative follow up between the control group and the NSAIDs groups（P=0.04）. There was an increase in the CMT in all cases starting from postoperative first week until third month. CMT showed a statistically significant difference between control group and NSAIDs groups from postoperative first month until third month（P=0.008, 0.027, 0.004）. There was no statistically significant difference between nepafenac and ketorolac groups in BCVA and OCT CMT. CONCLUSION： Prophylactic preoperative and postoperative NSAIDs may have a role in reducing the frequency and severity of CMe in diabetic eyes following cataract surgery.

Carnosine and crocin ameliorate oxidative stress in rats with rhabdomyolysis-induced acute kidney injury through upregulating HO-1 gene expression

We aimed to investigate whether carnosine(a natural dipeptide found in humans)and crocin(a natural product extracted from saffron and gardenia)can prevent the harmful effects of acute kidney injury(AKI)caused by glycerol-induced rhabdomyolysis with a focus on the role of the nuclear factor e2-related factor-2/heme oxygenase-1(Nrf2/HO-1)signaling ***-six male Wistar rats were divided into 6 groups:3 of them received saline,carnosine,and crocin IP for 7 days and the other 3 groups received the same treatment in addition to a single IM injection of 50%glycerol(10 ml/kg,divided between the two limb muscles)on 8th *** animals were sacrificed after 24 h of the IM *** samples,muscles,and kidneys were collected for further *** was evidenced by the histopathological alterations in muscle sections and increased le.els of myoglobin in kidney tissue homogenate *** injury was characterized by increased creatinine,kidney injury molecule-1,malondialdehyde,nitric oxide,and decreased catalase *** injury also increased inflammatory markers and histopathological alterations in kidney *** these effects were corrected by pretreatment with carnosine and *** agents could also elevate HO-1 gene ***,both agents failed to restore the declined Nrf2 expression in glycerol-treated *** and crocin can effectively prevent rhabdomyolysis-induced AKI in rats through augmenting gene expression of HO-1 and antioxidant system and suppressing the generation of reactive oxygen species,lipid peroxidation,and inflammatory response.

Selective micellar electrokinetic chromatographic method for simultaneous determination of some pharmaceutical binary mixtures containing non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

A simple and selective micellar electrokinetic chromatographic （MeKC） method has been de.eloped for the analysis of five pharmaceutical binary mixtures containing three non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs （NSAIDs）. The investigated mixtures were Ibuprofen （IP）-Paracetamol （PC）, Ibuprofen （IP）-Chlorzoxazone （CZ）, Ibuprofen （IP）Methocarbamol （MC）, Ketoprofen （KP） Chlorzoxazone （CZ） and Diclofenac sodium （DS）-Lidocaine hydrochloride （LC）. The separation was run for all mixtures using borate buffer （20 mM, pH 9） containing 15% （v/v） methanol and 100 mM sodium dodecyl sulphate （SDS） at 15 kV and the components were detected at 214 nm. Different factors affecting the.electrophoretic mobility of the seven investigated drugs were studied and optimized. The method was validated according to international conference of harmonization （ICH） guidelines and United States pharmacopoeia （USP）. The method was applied to the analysis of five pharmaceutical binary mixtures in their dosage forms. The results were compared with other reported high performance liquid chromatographic methods and no significant differences were observed.

effects of extender and packaging method on morphological and functional characteristics of cryopreserved Ossimi ram semen

Objective:To test the effects of extenders and packaging methods on morphological and functional characteristics of frozen thawed Ossimi ram ***:Ram semen was pooled,diluted in 3 different extenders:Tris-egg yolk(TeY),Tris-soybean lecithin(TSBL),and Tris-butylatedhydroxytoluene(TBHT),equilibrated at 5℃for 4 h,and packaged in straws or pellets for *** was evaluated for sperm progressive motility,viability,abnormality,and membrane integrity after dilution,equilibration and *** percentages of viable,early apoptotic,apoptotic,and necrotic spermatozoa as well as comet assay parameters were determined in post-thawed *** antioxidants capacity,malondialdehyde and lactic dehydrogenase were assayed in thawed seminal ***:After equilibration,only sperm membrane integrity was significantly higher(PeY and TSBL than in *** thawing,TeY or TSBL in straws significantly improved sperm progressive motility and vitality(Ped seminal plasma,TBHT or TSBL in straws and TBHT in pellets significantly reduced malondialdehyde,and TBHT in pellets significantly increased lactic dehydrogenase(PeY in straws increased viable sperm,while significantly decreased early apoptotic and apoptotic sperm(Pe was significantly decreased(PeY and TSBL,and tail moment decreased in straws with all extenders(Pespite the disadvantages of dilution of cryopreserved semen with egg yolk,ram semen cryopreserved with TeY gives the best physical,morphological and functional characteristics in straws compared with pellets,followed by semen diluted with ***,semen diluted with TBHT or TSBL,regardless of packaging method,showed the highest impact on antioxidant status of cyopreserved ram semen.

Permutation-substitution image encryption scheme based on a modified chaotic map in transform domain

A new chaotic image encryption scheme based on permutation and substitution in the Fourier domain is *** Fourier Transform(FRFT)is used before the encryption scheme to get a large degree of *** permutation is achieved by Baker map and the substitution by a key-related-to-plain-image algorithm based on the modified Logistic *** of the Logistic map is de.eloped to increase the space of the encryption key,and hence increase the *** key of the encryption algorithm dependents on the plain image,and thus,the cipher image is sensitive to both the initial key and the plain image to resist known-plaintext and chosen plaintext *** key space is large and hence the algorithm can effectively resist brute-force *** proposed scheme is examined using different performance evaluation metrics and the results prove that the proposed scheme is highly secure,and it can effectively resist different attacks.

Launching a paradigm for first and redo-surgery in primary congenital glaucoma: institutional experience

AIM: To evaluate the outcome of the initial and the redo-surgeries for primary congenital glaucoma(PCG) correlated to its degree of severity. MeTHODS: A retrospective study involved patients with PCG presented between 2010 and 2018. Medical records were reviewed to assess the degree of the preoperative severity according to the intraocular pressure(IOP), corneal diameter and corneal edema. Success and failure rates were calculated for both first and redo-surgeries at 6 and 12 mo respectively then correlated to the severity of the cases. ReSULTS: Complete records were retrieved for 272 eyes(153 patients) with PCG: 43 eyes were mild, 136 moderate and 93 severe. Combined trabeculotomy and trabeculectomy(CTT) had the highest success rate in moderate(96.4%) and severe cases(59.3%) while trabeculotomy had the highest success rate in mild cases(96.3%). Medical records of 88 eyes(63 patients) with recurrent PCG were analyzed, most with severe presentation(59 eyes). ahmed glaucoma valve(AGV) was used in 67(76%) eyes and augmented trabeculectomy in 21(24%) eyes. At 12 mo, there was no statistically significant difference between both surgeries in total success rate(P=0.256). For mild cases, success rate was 100% for both surgeries. Severe cases had higher success rates following AGV(87%) than augmented trabeculectomy(20%). Preoperative severity of the disease was an independent factor affecting the failure rate in secondary trabeculectomy but not in AGV. Patients younger than 24 mo had higher probabilities of failure following both redo-surgeries with hazard ratio =1.325 and 0.37 for augmented trabeculectomy and AGV respectively. CONCLUSION: Preoperative assessment of the severity of eyes with PCG helps in the selecting the optimal primary and secondary surgery. For first surgery, trabeculotomy is more effective in mild cases whereas; CTT and augmented subscleral trabeculectomy(SST) are appropriate for moderate and severe cases.
