BACKGROUnD Sacubitril-valsartan has been shown to reduce hospitalizations and mortality in patients with heart failure(HF)and reduced ejection *** PIOnEER-HF trial demonstrated that initiation of the drug during acute HF hospitalization reduced nT-proBnP levels and a post-hoc analysis of the trial found a reduction in HF hospitalizations and ***-life studies in the elderly population are *** aim of our study was to assess the effectiveness of sacubitril-valsartan versus angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEI)in elderly patients who initiate this treatment during hospitalization for acute *** We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the Spanish acute heart failure registry(RICA)comparing rehospitalizations and deaths at 3 months and 1 year among patients aged 70 years or older who had initiated treatment with sacubitrilvalsartan during hospitalization for acute HF versus those treated with *** One hundred and ninety-nine patients hospitalized between October 2016 and november 2020 were included,with a median age of 82 years and high rate of *** these,107 were treated with sacubitril-valsartan and 92 with *** adjusted OR for readmission for HF at 3 months was 0.906(95%CI:0.241-3.404)and for the combined variable readmission for HF or death at 3 months was 0.696(95%CI:0.224-2.167).The adjusted OR for HF readmission at one year was 0.696(95%CI:0.224-2.167).and for the combined variable HF readmission or death at one year 0.724(95%CI:0.325-1.612).COnCLUSIOn Treatment with sacubitril-valsartan initiated early in hospitalization for HF in elderly patients with high comorbidity was associated with a trend towards a reduction in readmissions and death due to HF compared to treatment with ACEI,which did not reach statistical significance either at 3 months or 1 year of follow-up.

The uniparental inheritance and conserved structure of the chloroplast genome among many angiosperms makes it suitable for constructing gene lineages and inferring population histories based on these relationships. However, the analysis of a single chloroplast region to solve population issues has not yielded the desired amount of variability due to the low mutation rate. Therefore, it is necessary to screen and carefully analyze chloroplast intergenic or intronic regions to select the most appropriate for studying the genetic variability in the chloroplast genome of a particular taxon. In this context, the aim of this work was to characterize 8 regions in Calophyllum brasiliense using 11 selected primer pairs and to evaluate their usefulness for phylogeographic analysis. Intergenic spacers petA-psbJ, petG-trnP and rp132-trnL and the trnL intron demonstrated potentially informative sites. The combination of these 4 regions will allow the analysis of genetic population structure and the integration of historical aspects to inform strategies for conserving C. brasiliense, especially for highly impacted populations and those at risk of local extinction.

Using mixed integer programming and airborne laser scanning to generate forest management units

Airborne laser scanning(ALS)has been widely applied to estimate tree and forest attributes,but it can also drive the segmentation of forest *** algorithms are the dominant technique in segmentation but spatial optimization using exact methods remains *** study presents a novel approach to segmentation based on mixed integer programming to create forest management units(FMUs).This investigation focuses on using raster information derived from ALS *** mainstream clustering algorithms were compared to the new MIP formula that simultaneously accounts for area and adjacency restrictions,FMUs size and homogeneity in terms of vegetation *** optimal problem solution was found when using less than 150 cells,showing the problem formulation is *** results for MIP were better than for the clustering algorithms;FMUs were more compact based on the intravariation of canopy height and the variability in size was *** MIP model allows the user to strictly control the size of FMUs,which is not possible in heuristic optimization and in the clustering algorithms *** definition of forest management units based on remote sensing data is an important operation and our study pioneers the use of MIP ALS-based optimal segmentation.

Using GEDI lidar data and airborne laser scanning to assess height growth dynamics in fast-growing species:a showcase in Spain

Background:The nASA’s Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation(GEDI)satellite mission aims at scanning forest ecosystems on a multi-temporal short-rotation *** GEDI data can validate and update statistics from nationwide airborne laser scanning(ALS).We present a case in the northwest of Spain using GEDI statistics and nationwide ALS surveys to estimate forest dynamics in three fast-growing forest ecosystems comprising 211,346 *** objectives were:i)to analyze the potential of GEDI to detect disturbances,ii)to investigate uncertainty source regarding non-positive height increments from the 2015–2017 ALS data to the 2019 GEDI laser shots and iii)to estimate height growth using polygons from the Forest Map of Spain(FMS).A set of 258 national Forest Inventory plots were used to validate the observed height ***:The spatio-temporal assessment from ALS surveying to GEDI scanning allowed the large-scale detection of *** mean annual height growths were 0.79(SD=0.63),0.60(SD=0.42)and 0.94(SD=0.75)m for Pinus pinaster,Pinus radiata and Eucalyptus spp.,*** median annual values from the ALS-GEDI positive increments were close to nFI-based growth values computed for Pinus pinaster and Pinus radiata,*** effect of edge border,spatial co-registration of GEDI shots and the influence of forest cover in the observed dynamics were important factors to considering when processing ALS data and GEDI ***:The use of GEDI laser data provides valuable insights for forest industry operations especially when accounting for fast ***,errors derived from positioning,ground finder and canopy structure can introduce uncertainty to understand the detected growth patterns as documented in this *** analysis of forest growth using ALS and GEDI would benefit from the generalization of common rules and data processing schemes as the GEDI mission is increasingly being utilized in the forest remote sensing community.

Setpoint Feasibility and Stability of Wind Park Control Interactions at Weak Grids

The controllers of wind parks that are connected to weak grids can induce unstable oscillations near the fundamental *** phenomenon can be studied with equivalent impedances of the wind generators,which depend on their operational setpoints at the fundamental *** feasibility of such setpoint,i.e.,solution to the power flow,does not depend on the control ***,oscillations from unfeasible setpoints and control instabilities both occur at weak grids and near the fundamental *** letter presents an exploratory study to map the conditions where both phenomena occur,using sensitivity studies comprising multiple setpoints and control parameter *** results are visually presented as the regions which inform the configurations leading to unfeasible setpoints,and unstable control interaction *** the results,it can be observed that the trajectory of the eigenvalues in the nyquist plots towards an unfeasible setpoint approaches a fundamental frequency instability.
