Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the sixth most common cancer in the *** majority of patients with HCC present with unresectable *** patients have historically had limited treatment options secondary to HCC demonstrating chemoresistance to the currently available systemic ***, normal liver parenchyma has shown intolerance to tumoricidal radiation doses,limiting the use of external beam *** of these limitations,novel percutaneous liver-directed therapies have emerged. The targeted infusion of radioactive microspheres (radioembolization)represents one such therapy. Radioembolization is a minimally invasive transcatheter therapy through which radioactive microspheres are infused into the hepatic arteries that supply tumor. Once infused,these microspheres traverse the hepatic vascular plexus and selectively implant within the tumor *** within the arterioles, the 90y impregnated microspheres emit high energy and low penetrating radiation doses selectively to the *** has recently shown promise for the treatment of patients with unresectable HCC. The objective of this review article is to highlight twocurrently available radioembolic devices(90y,188Rh)and provide the reader with a recent review of the literature.

Metformin(Met)is a drug developed for the treatment of patients with typeⅡ ***,Met estimation in pharmaceutical formulations and human fluids has gained a growing *** extend requisite data that can be used to assessment of Met quantitatively based on charge-transfer(CT)complexation,the present study describes the synthesis and characterization of CT complexes that formed between drug Met and the organicπ-acceptors picric acid(PA),chloranilic acid(CLA),chloranil(CHL),7,7',8,8'-tetracyanoquinodimethane(TCNQ),and dichlorodicyanobenzoquinone(DDQ).The properties of the formed CT complexes were investigated by elemental,spectral(UV-visible,IR,and Raman spectroscopies),thermal(TG)and morphological(SEM)*** results indicated that the complexation of Met with either PA or CLA acceptors occurs through proton transfer interaction,whereas its complexation with CHL,TCNQ,or DDQ acceptors occurs through n→π*interaction.

Management for Pediatric Pleural Empyema in Resource-Poor Country: Is Chest Tube Drainage with Antiseptic Lavage-Irrigation Better than Tube Thoracostomy Alone?

Drainage by chest tube thoracostomy is widely used in treatment of early empyema thoracis in children, but drainage with antiseptic lavage-irrigation is more frequent in our context since the last 20 years. This study was to determine which was more effective in our experience comparing chest tube drainage with catheter antiseptic lavage-irrigation versus drainage by chest tube thoracostomy alone in the management of empyema thoracis in children. Patients and Methods: Demographic, clinical and microbiological data on children with thoracic empyema undergoing drainage by chest tube thoracostomy alone or with antiseptic lavage-irrigation were obtained from 2 thoracic surgical centers from September 2008 to December 2014. It was a retrospective study included 246 children (137 boys and 109 girls) who were managed for empyema thoracis at the author’s different department of surgery. Outcomes analysis with respect to treatment efficacy, hospital duration, chest tube duration, hospital costs, and need for subsequent procedures was analyzed and compared in the 2 groups. Results: Drainage of pus and antiseptic irrigation resulted in resolution of pyrexia with improvement in general condition in 85.82% of patients in group 1 and by tube thoracostomy alone in 73.95% in group 2. There are a significant difference in the length of hospital stay (p = 0.022), duration of chest tubes in situ (p = 0.040), treatment coast (p = 0.015) and outcome of stage 2 empyema disease (p = 0.037) between the 2 groups. Conclusion: it seems that chest tube drainage with antiseptic lavage-irrigation method is associated with a higher efficacy, shorter length of hospital stay, shorter duration of chest tube in situ, less cost and better outcome of stage 2 empyema diseases than a treatment strategy that utilizes chest tube thoracostomy alone.

Mineral Chemistry of Two-Mica Granite Rare Metals: Impact of Geophysics on the Distribution of Uranium Mineralization at El Sela Shear Zone, Egypt

The present work aims at identifying Nb-Ta-, Zr-Hf-, REE-, Th-U-bearing two-mica granite from geological, geophysical cross-sections and mineral chemistry studies from three boreholes at G. El Sela shear zone. Microscopically, the three boreholes are composed mainly of two-mica granite. They are composed of K-feldspar, plagioclase, quartz, biotite and muscovite. Accessories are pyrite, zircon, fluorite, rutile, monazite with Th-U-mineralization identified by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electron probe-microanalyses (EPMA). Chlorite, muscovite, sericite, kaolinite are secondary minerals. Geochemically, two-mica granite boreholes are A-type granites and peraluminous characteristics. They are enriched in large ion lithophile elements (LILE;Ba, Rb and Sr), high field strength elements (y, Zr and Nb), and LREE but depleted in HREE with negative Eu anomaly. U-enrichment associated with chloritization, muscovitization, albitization, sericitization, kaolinization and argillization results from convective hydrothermal circulation of fluids through brittle structures along the ENE-WSW main shear zone. The ratios Nb/Ta (7.7 - 17.7) and Zr/Hf (16.9 - 26.4) are relatively enriched in the lighter isovalents Ta and Hf. The accessory minerals observed in the two-mica granites are represented by metallic sulfides (pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite), Nb-rutile, Hf-zircon, fluorite, monazite, columbite, betafite, thorite, phosphothorite, uranothorite, brannerite, uraninite, coffinite and pitchblende at G. El Sela shear zone. Uraninite with a low Th content indicates a hydrothermal origin of U-mineralization, Thorite, uranothorite, monazite and zircon is the main uranium bearing minerals of magmatic origin within the enclosing granite. The primary U-mineralization has been observed in two boreholes. γ-TiAl基合金由于密度低,具有较高的强度和抗蠕变性能而成为重要的高温材料,然其较低的延展性和抗氧化能力限制了其应用和发展。选区激光熔化(Selective laser melting,SLM)技术是一种常用的增材制造技术,该技术不需要特殊的加工工具和铸模,在3D模型的基础上通过逐层堆积来实现小批量和复杂结构零件的加工,特别适用于难变形材料的加工。近年来,人们研究了激光选区熔化制备γ-TiAl基合金的组织和性能,发现由于较快的冷却速度,合金具有更细小的内部组织,同时合金强度也得以提高。B,V,y,Mo,和Cr等合金化元素的添加也在一定程度提高了合金的延展性和抗氧化性但和理想效果仍有差距。因此,为了进一步提高γ-TiAl基合金的延展性和高温抗氧化性,本研究将Nb元素添加入该合金并采用电磁搅拌辅助激光选区熔化技术来加工不容成分的合金。本研究中,通过激光选区熔化技术(SLM)在TC4合金基板上加工了不同Nb含量的Ti-Al-Mn-Nb合金,分析了不同Nb添加量合金的组织和性能。结果显示:合金组织主要由四方点阵结构的γ-TiAl相和密排六方点阵结构的α-TiAl相组成且随着Nb含量的增加,组织形态由完全的树枝晶转变为层片状组织。由于γ-TiAl相中较高的Nb含量和层片状组织的形成,7%Nb含量的合金具有最优的性能,该成分具有2000Hv的硬度,1390 GPa的强度和24.5%塑性变形量,同时具有良好的耐磨性能和抗高温氧化性能。同时也详细分析了电磁搅拌作用对γ-TiAl合金的组织的影响。

The Si L2,3 X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) can be used to probe thelocal structure around Si and derive electronic information of the unoccupied s- andd-like partial density of states in nano-size SiO2. We present Si L2,3-edge for threedifferent size silicates acquired by total electron yield (TEy) at the photoemission sta-tion of Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). The Si L2,3-edge spectra areinterpreted based on ab initio full multiple-scattering (MS) calculation. The Si L2.3-edge of nano-size materials has XANES similar to that of a-quartz. The similaritiesbetween the Si L2.3-edge shapes attest to a common molecular-orbital picture of theirSi-O bonding and the same coordination state. However, a considerable broadeningof Si L2,3-edge XANES spectra as decrease of particle size is also an indicative ofpolyhedral distortions.

Physicochemical Characteristics of Water Samples Collected from River Sokoto, Northwestern Nigeria

Physicochemical parameters of surface water collected from six different points (P1 to P6) on River Sokoto were analysed during January (Dry Season) and August (Rainy Season), 2014 to determine its water quality using standard methods. The highest temperature of 25.6°C was recorded by P1 in dry season while P5 recorded the highest value of 29.2°C in rainy season. All the water samples were alkaline in dry season with the highest pH value of 8.50 in P5 and the least value of 8.02 in P6 whereas in rainy season, P1, P2 and P3 were slightly acidic while P5 and P6 were slightly neutral and P4 alkaline. The highest values of 510 μS/cm and 850.3 mg/l were recorded from P4 for electrical conductance and hardness respectively in the rainy season whereas in dry season, P5 and P4 had the highest values of 321 μS/cm and 282.8 mg/l respectively. The highest DO and BOD levels in dry season were 1.7 mg/l and 0.7 mg/l respectively in P1 and the least values were 0.7 mg/l and 0.2 mg/l respectively in P5. But in the rainy season, P6 recorded the highest DO value of 0.1 mg/l while P2 and P5 recorded the least value of 0.07 mg/l. For BOD, P5 had the highest value (2.13 mg/l) while P3 had the least value (0.20 mg/l). For COD, the highest value (230 mg/l) was found in P4 and P6 and the least value (30 mg/l) was found in P1 in dry season while in the rainy season, P2 had the highest COD value (1008 mg/l) and P4 had the least value of 32 mg/l. TDS and TSS values generally were higher in the rainy season than in the dry season due to higher amount of floating particles in the rainy season. While P1 and P6 recorded the highest values (800 mg/l and 700 mg/l respectively) in the rainy season, P4 recorded the least value of 100 mg/l in both seasons. The highest Chloride level was found in P4 in the dry (100 mg/l) and rainy (180 mg/l) seasons with the least level in P2 (35 mg/l) in dry season and in P1 and P2 with the least level of 60 mg/l in the rainy season. Petrography, Geochemistry and Petrogensis of Pleistocene Basaltic Flow from Northwest Atarous Area, Central Jordan

Fifteen basaltic rock samples were collected from central Jordan at the Atarous volcanism basaltic flow area. The samples cover about 8 km2 from the Atarous Basalt flow (AB). The AB flow was introduced in the Miocene to Pleistocene periods. The samples analyze major and trace elements by using XRF. Petrography, Geochemistry and Petrogensis have investigation to carried out for the AB. The petrography analyses of the AB rocks show they are composed of plagioclase (labradorite and bytownite), pyroxene (augite), and olivine (forsterite);accessory minerals include apatite and secondary minerals magnetite, ilmenite, spinel and iddingsite. The AB is classified within alkaline to sub-alkaline and tholeiitic to Calc-Alkaline basalt. The Mg# range between 0.39 and 0.49 of basalt samples exhibits different degrees of fractionation with a low degree of melting ying concentration of incompatible trace elements Ba, Rb, Sr. Trace elements of primary magna show low variable abundances of compatible and incompatible elements, which reflecs a homogenous source. Geochemical parameters such as Mg# and high Ti contents indicate that the corresponding magmas are of primary origin. The tectonic setting of AB is explained by using discrimination diagrams, Ti-Zr-Sr and Nb-Zr-y and Ti-Zr-y, the AB plotted within the plate basalt, alkali basalt and Calk alkaline basalt field, respectively. The spider diagram shows the samples AB enrichment of the Ba, K, Nb and Ce, depletion of Nb and y. The AB exhibited positive Nb, Ce and Ti anomalies, and negative anomalies of Ba, Sr, and P. It is attributed to the fractionation of feldspar for Ba and Sr and apatite for P depletion. The spider diagram showed a positive Nb peak, which conforms to the tertiary and to recent continental alkali basalt provinces and indicates that the AB is the product of lithosphere from upwelling asthenosphere mantle.

Application of Chebyshev theorem to data preparation in landslide susceptibility mapping studies:an example from yenice(Karabük,Turkey)region

Landslide database construction is one of the most crucial stages of the landslide susceptibility mapping studies. Although there are many techniques for preparing landslide database in the literature, representative data selection from huge data sets is a challenging, and, to some extent, a subjective task. Thus, in order to produce reliable landslide susceptibility maps, data-driven, objective and representative database construction is a very important stage for these maps. This study mainly focuses on a landslide database construction task. In this study, it was aimed at building a representative landslide database extraction approach by using Chebyshev theorem to evaluate landslide susceptibility in a landslide prone area in the Western Black Sea region of Turkey. The study area was divided into two different parts such as training （Basin 1） and testing areas （Basin 2）. A total of nine parameters such as topographical elevation, slope, aspect, planar and profile curvatures, stream power index, distance to drainage, normalized difference vegetation index and topographical wetness index were used in the study. Next, frequency distributions of the considered parameters in both landslide and nonlandslide areas were extracted using different sampling strategies, and a total of nine different landslide databases were obtained. Of these, eight databases were gathered by the methodology proposed by this study based on different standard deviations and algebraic multiplication of raster parameter maps. To evaluate landslide susceptibility, Artificial Neural Network method was used in the study area considering the different landslide and nonlandslide data. Finally, to assess the performances of the so-produced landslide susceptibility maps based on nine data sets, Area Under Curve （AUC） approach was implemented both in Basin 1 and Basin 2. Isolation and Authentication of Local Rhizobia Nodulating Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in Different Agro-Ecological Zones of Côte d’Ivoire

Legumes such as common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) have been introduced into cropping systems for sustainable soil management. Consequently, the loss of fertility of the latter remains a major constraint to bean production because this legume is rarely fertilized, yet it is considered to be a poor nitrogen fixer in the absence of inoculation. To overcome this, this study was undertaken with the objective of seeking efficient local rhizobia in order to propose a bean inoculum formulation. To do this, soil samples taken from twelve localities in the Centre, North and West areas of C?te d’Ivoire were used to trap bean nodulating rhizobia. The ROBA1 bean accession used was sown in pots containing the sampled soils. Seedlings were uprooted at the start of flowering and nodulation was assessed. The isolates obtained were purified and then characterized phenotypically. The infectivity and symbiotic efficacy of these isolates were determined in vitro by the authentication test in which the purified isolates were reinoculated to their original host plant. A total of 24 rhizobium isolates were obtained from the soils of six localities. During morphological characterization, the isolates showed typical characteristics of Rhizobium. With the exception of RPC501, RPC505 and RPC522, all isolates were authenticated and able to nodulate the host plant in controlled culture. Isolates RPC502, RPC507, and RPC508 were effective and significantly increased (P y has, therefore, revealed the presence of effective local rhizobia in Ivorian soils and capable of nodulating common beans. A genetic characterization of efficient rhizobia identified after experimentation in different environmental conditions should be considered before being recommended as bean rhizobia inoculant.
