Well Log Petrophysics of the Cretaceous Pay Zones in Zubair Field, Basrah, South Iraq

Discovered in 1949 with a rate of (195,000) bbl/day from pay zones in mishrif and Zubair Formation, the expected production of Zubair field is anticipated to be 1125 million bbl/day. Despite this production history, there is a major deficiency in detailed petrophysical analysis of the producing zones. In the present study well log data of 7 wells, selected from numerous wells, are investigated in details to examine the reservoir properties and characterize the reservoir architecture. The petrophysical analysis of mishrif Formation indicated two or three pay zones. Lithologically, all zones of mishrif Formation are dominantly clean limestone to dolomitic limestone with zone 2 and 3 reporting higher dolomitic content (20% to 40%) compared to zone 1 (6% to 13%). mishrif pay zones indicated a relatively good porosity (18% - 24%) with zone 2 predominant in secondary porosity associating dolomitization processes. In Zubair Formation one pay zone is identified but locally could separate into two zones. The clay content is generally low with average content between 2% and 3% while the average porosity showed slightly better values in zone 1 (~0.20) compared to average porosity of zone 2 (0.17) that is rich in silt content associating deposition at a relatively deeper parts of the shelf. The average water saturation shows distinct lower values that vary between 15% and 18.7%. The petrophysical results are statistically analyzed and property histograms and crossplots are constructed to investigate mutual relationships. Such analysis is essential for understanding the reservoir architecture and calculations of reservoir capacity for future development.

Tankyrase1(TNKS1)plays an essential role in cancer progression by regulating telomere *** study aimed to determine expression of TNKS1 and its regulation in colorectal cancer(CRC)in 20 samples from Saudi *** expression of TNKS1 in CRC and paired normal tissues was measured by *** modification of TNKS1 promoter was determined by methylation-specific PCR while somatic mutation was analyzed by Sanger sequencing in exon 10 of the *** cancerous and normal tissues expressed TNKS1,but level of expression in CRC tissues was significantly associated with tumor stage though no other parameters;age,gender,and tumor location,showed any *** of TNKS1 was markedly higher in earlier(I,II)than in later(Ⅲ,Ⅳ)stages of CRC *** cancerous and healthy tissues had unmethylated *** sequencing of exon 10 masked any somatic mutation in the *** findings suggest that up-regulation of TNKS1 was inversely correlated with cancer progression in CRC,indicating that TNKS1 participates in the initiation of CRC by stabilizing telomere length in the first phase of cancer *** other than TNKS1 might play a role in malignant tumor progression and telomere maintenance in the late stages of CRC.

Progression of diethylnitrosamine-induced hepatic carcinogenesis in carnitine-depleted rats

AIm:To investigate whether carnitine deficiency is a risk factor during the development of diethylnitrosamine (DENA)-induced hepatic carcinogenesis. mETHODS:A total of 60 male Wistar albino rats were divided into six groups with 10 animals in each *** in group 1(control group)received a single intraperitoneal(i.p.)injection of normal saline. Vancomycin flushing syndrome in orthopaedic practice:A case report

BACKGROUND Vancomycin flushing syndrome(VFS),also known as red man syndrome,is an allergic reaction to *** typically presents as a rash on the face,neck,and upper torso after intravenous administration of *** is blamed on rapid intravenous infusion of vancomycin during management and rarely happens after local use.A review of the literature showed that in the last 23 years,4 such cases have been ***,we add another case of VFS developed after slow local absorption of vancomycin in cement *** SUmmARY A 44-year-old male with a known case of hypertension,no history of allergies to medications,and a history of chronic osteomyelitis of the right tibia with discharging sinus over the anterolateral aspect of the *** pus culture grew Staphylococcus aureus,which was sensitive to clindamycin and *** patient underwent irrigation and debridement with the placement of vancomycin cement beads made from 4 g of vancomycin powder and 40 g of polymethyl *** hours postoperatively,the patient developed a pruritic,erythematous,macular rash predominantly on his face,neck,chest,and lower extremities and to a lesser extent his upper extremities.A diagnosis of VFS was made and was successfully treated with cetirizine(10 mg,oral)and methylprednisolone sodium succinate(125 mg,intravenous).The patient continued to have itching with a facial rash for 12 h with gradual improvement.A decision was made to not remove the beads as the patient continued to ***,the rash disappeared after 96 h with no further *** VFS can occur not only after rapid intravenous injection of vancomycin but also with local release,as in our *** orthopaedic surgeons routinely use vancomycin with polymethyl methacrylate in chronic osteomyelitis and revision arthroplasty,they should be aware of such a complication occurring.

To increase the payload,reduce energy consumption,improve work efficiency and therefore must accordingly reduce the total hull weight of the *** paper introduces a design optimization process for the pressurehull of submarines under uniform external hydrostatic pressure using bothfinite element analysis(FEA)and optimization tools.A comprehensive study about the optimum design of the pressure hull,to minimize the weight and increase the volume,to reach minimum buoyancy factor and maximum operating depth minimizing the buoyancy factor(B.F)is taken as an objective function with constraints of plate and frame yielding,general instability and *** optimization process contains many design variables such as pressure-hull plate thickness,unsupported spacing,dimensions of long and ring beams andfinally the elliptical submersible pressure-hull *** optimization process was conducted using ANSYS parametric design language(APDL)and *** multi-Island Genetic Algorithm(G.A)is considered to conduct the optimization ***,parametric analysis is done on the pressure hull to examine the effect of different design variables on the pressure-hull *** a result,the B.F of the proposed optimal model is reduced by an average of 31.78%compared with Reference model(Rm).maximum von mises stress is reduced by 27%as *** results can be helpful for submarine pressure-hull designers.

magnetic assembly at the nanoscale level brings potential possibilities in obtaining novel delicate nanostructures with unique physical, photonic or electronic properties. Interface surfactant micelle-directed assembly strategy holds great promising in fabricating ordered mesoporous materials with multifunctionality and pore parameter tunability. Combing these, herein, one-dimensional (1D) nanochains with well-aligned silica-coated magnetic particles as core and mesoporous aluminosilicate as shell are rational fabricated for the first time through magnetic field induced interface coassembly in biliquid system followed by the incorporation of Al species via in-situ chemical modification and transformation strategy. The obtained magnetic mesoporous aluminosilicate nanochains (mmAS-NCs) possess well-defined core-shell-shell sandwich nanostructure, tunable perpendicular mesopore channels in the shell (2.7–7.6 nm), high surface area (359 m^(2)·g^(-1)), abundant acidic sites, and superparamagnetism with a magnetization saturation of 13.8 emu·g^(-1). Thanks to the unique properties, the mmAS-NCs exhibit excellent performance in acting as magnetically recyclable superior solid acid catalysts and nanostirrers with high conversion of over 96.8%, selectivity of 95.0% in the deprotection reaction of benzaldehyde dimethylacetal to benzaldehyde. moreover, mmAS-NCs exhibit an interesting pore size effect on the catalytic activity, namely, in the pore size range of 2–8 nm, the catalysts with larger pores show significantly enhanced catalytic activity due to the balanced mass transport and density of surface active sites.

In recent years,a lot of research has been done on silver nanoparticles(SNP)due to their numerous applications in the biomedical,pharmaceutical,and drug delivery *** this present study SNP were green synthesized using melicope lunu-ankenda(***-ankenda)leaf *** addition of AgNO3 causes a color change.L-arginine addition results in further colour changes confirming conjugation.A UV–Vis spectrophotometric examination showed that the absorption peak for SNP was 435 nm,while the peak for L-arginine SNP(cSNP)was 422 *** analysis confirmed the association of amides and amines with *** spherical nature of the silver was disclosed by SEm,and its elemental character is verified by *** thermal stability of the nanoparticles is determined by TGA analysis,while TEm examination verifies their spherical *** the mTT assay,these cSNP exhibited outstanding toxicity analysis(IC5038.72μg/ml)against mDA-mB-231 *** cSNP causes damage to the mitochondria(JC1 staining),which causes oxidative stress and the production of ROS with 83%of DCF expression in cancer ***,as demonstrated by the Comet assay and DAPI,these cSNP cause good DNA damage in the treated ***,using flow cytometry,cSNPs potentially trigger apoptosis by triggering the expression of caspase 3 and caspase 8 ***,through CAm,cSNP demonstrated strong anti-angiogenesis activity by reducing the number of blood vessel *** findings suggest that cSNP may be crucial for drug delivery and cancer treatment.

Efficacy of intragastric balloon on weight reduction:Saudi perspective

AIm To evaluate the safety and efficacy of intragastric balloon(IGB) in weight reduction in obese patients referred to a tertiary hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi *** Three hundred and one consecutive obese individuals, who underwent IGB placement during January 2009 to may 2015, were analyzed. The subjects aged 18 to 60 years and had a minimum body mass index(BmI) of 27 kg/m^2. The IGB was placed under conscious sedation and kept for 6 mo. Anthropometric measurements were recorded during and after 6 mo of IGB *** The body weight, excess body weight, and BmI were significantly reduced at the time of IGB removal and 6 mo later. Body weight loss > 10% was achieved in 224 subjects at removal of IGB. End of treatment success and long-term success were both significantly observed in women(70 vs 11)(71 vs 12.5) respectively. Excess BmI loss was significantly higher in subjects retaining the IGB for over 6 mo both at the removal [43.44 ± 19.46(n = 221) vs 55.60 ± 28.69(n = 80); t = 4.19, P = 0.0001] as well as at the end of 6 mo' follow-up [46.57 ± 24.89(n = 221) vs 63.52 ± 31.08(n = 80); t = 4.87, P = 0.0001]. Within 3 d of IGB placement, two subjects developed pancreatitis and one subject developed cardiac arrhythmia. Intestinal obstruction due to displacement of IGB occurred in two subjects. Allthese subjects recovered uneventfully after immediate removal of the IGB. CONCLUSION IGB was effective in our cohorts. The observed weight reduction was maintained for at least 6 mo post IGB removal. IGB placement was safe with a satisfactory tolerance rate.

Original or Western Imitation： The Case of Arab Theatre

When discussing the roots of Arab theatre, we find ourselves confronting two main streams of thought. The first one, represented by prominent Arab writers like Najib mahfuz, Abbas A1-Aqqad, m. Badawi, and other critics, rejects the theory that an Arab theatre existed before the mid-19th century. The second stream, represented by prominent scholars like Ali A1-Rai, Ibrahim Hamada and S. moreh, see modern Arab theatre as part of a continuum, emphasizing of some elements of dramatic manifestations in Arab literary heritage. This paper intends to examine these two streams, their evidences and arguments. Such examination will shed some light on the origin of Arab theatre as a literary genre, and how it was influenced, if any, by Western theatrical heritage. Thus, answering the main question of this paper, whether Arab theatre is original or simply a Western imitation.
