Morphological and molecular characterization of fungus isolated from tropical bed bugs in Northern Peninsular Malaysia, Cimex hemipterus(Hemiptera: Cimicidae)

Objective:To investigate some morphological and molecular characteristics of fungal parasites isolated from wild tropical bed bug, Cimex ***: A series of culture methods were used to obtain fungal isolates from i eld-collected bed bugs. Characteristics of the isolates such as colony appearance, mycelial texture and pigmentation were studied to explore their morphology. Isolates were also subjected to a PCRbased genotyping ***: There were noticeable dif erences in morphological characteristics among the four isolates. Conidial areas of one isolate were dark green, whereas those of the remaining colonies were olive-green, black or dark brown. Conidia of the dark green isolate were globose, while those of olive-green, black and dark brown isolates were globose to subglobose, globose to spherical and globose to subglobose/i nely roughened, respectively. These morphological specii cities and the molecular analyses showed that the fungal internal transcribed spacer ribosomal region and β-tubulin gene sequences of the isolates shared clade with Trichoderma and Aspergillus ***: Overall, the new discovery of common pathogens in agricultural i eld developed in live bed bugs storage tank may initiate the use of biological agents in later years.

主要探讨精子活动促进剂对水牛Bubalusbubalis卵母细胞体外受精及随后胚胎发育的影响.来自屠宰场水牛卵巢的卵母细胞和卵丘细胞复合体,在体积分数为5 %CO2 的培养箱中培养2 4～2 6h ,然后通过体外受精测定其受精和胚胎发育能力.试验1:解冻的精子用5 0g/mL的胰蛋白酶处理30min ,然后进行受精;试验2 :受精在含不同浓度咖啡因(0 ,2 5 ,5 0和10 0mmol/L)的受精液中进行;试验3:在含不同浓度的钙离子载体A2 3187(0 ,0 1,1 0和2 5μmol/L)的受精液中进行体外受精;试验4 :在PHE、咖啡因和A2 3187不同组合(空白,PHE ,PHE +2 5mmol/L咖啡因+2 5 μmol/LA2 3187和PHE +2 5 μmol/LA2 3187)的受精液中进行体外受精.试验结果表明,精子用胰蛋白酶处理后的受精卵囊胚发育率显著下降(12 5 %和2 6 % ,P <0 0 5 ) ,而用咖啡因和钙离子载体A2 3187处理,对卵母细胞的卵裂率和囊胚发育率没有明显影响.在体外受精中PHE和钙离子载体的组合使用能提高受精卵的胚胎发育率。

对催乳素和牛卵泡液在水牛卵母细胞体外成熟中的作用进行了探讨.来自屠宰场水牛卵巢的卵母细胞和卵丘细胞复合体,在含体积分数为5%CO2的培养箱中培养24～26h,然后通过体外受精测定其受精和胚胎发育能力.实验1在成熟液中添加1 0μg/mL催乳素(PRL),卵母细胞的囊胚发育比例(12 8%)比对照组(9 1%)高但不显著.实验2添加5%牛卵泡液(BFF),卵母细胞卵裂的比例明显高于对照组,但囊胚形成率则几乎一样;添加1 0μg/mLPRL和5%BFF组卵母细胞卵裂的比例为38 1%,而发育成囊胚阶段的卵母细胞的比例为14%.试验结果表明:添加适宜浓度的BFF和PRL能促进未成熟的水牛卵母细胞体外成熟后的胚胎发育能力.

A new type of calcium-based regenerable carbon dioxide （CO_2） sorbent, CaO-NiO, was synthesized via the sol-gel method. The as synthesized CO_2 sorbent was in the form of nanoparticles. The CO_2 sorption temperature and capacity of the sorbent were examined using thermogravi- metric analysis （TGA）. The CaO-NiO sorbent is able to capture CO_2 at a lower sorption temperature （465 ℃） than pure calcium oxide （CaO）（600 ℃）. The role of NiO in the CaO-NiO sorbent in lowering the CO_2 sorption temperature was also investigated. The sorbent was char- acterized by X-ray diffractometer （XRD）, N_2 adsorption-desorption analysis, high resolution transmission electron microscopy （HRTEM） and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. CaO and NiO were found to coexist in the sorbent. Neither solid solution nor mixed metal oxide was formed. NiO did not react with CO_2 in the sorption process; but it worked like a catalyst to promote the CaO carbonation reaction. It is suggested that this new CaO-NiO sorbent may have a promising application as an effective CO_2 sorbent with lower energy consumption.

Objective: To assess the insecticide susceptibility status of Anopheles cracens(***) and Anopheles maculatus(***) from knowlesi malaria endemic areas in Peninsular Malaysia towards DDT, malathion and deltamethrin and to determine the resistance mechanism ***: Adult and larval mosquitos were collected for *** status of Anopheles was determined using the standard WHO adult bioassay, larval bioassay and biochemical enzyme ***: WHO adult bioassay results indicated *** collected from Kampung Sungai Ular, Pahang was resistant towards 4% DDT, while *** collected from Kampung Sokor, Kelantan and Kampung Sungai Lui, Selangor exhibited resistance towards 4% ***, the enzyme activity profiles varied according to strains and *** resistance ratio of larval bioassay, showed that all strains and species tested were susceptible to malathion and ***: Since only a few anopheline strains exhibited low level of insecticide resistance towards malathion, DDT and *** insecticides are still considered effective for vector control program towards *** and ***.

High resolution facies architecture and digital outcrop modeling of the Sandakan formation sandstone reservoir, Borneo:Implications for reservoir characterization and flow simulation

Advances in photogrammetry have eased the acquisition of high-resolution digital information from outcrops, enabling faster, non-destructive data capturing and improved reservoir modeling. Geocellular models for flow dynamics with in the virtual outcrop in siliciclastic deposits at different sets of sandstone facies architecture remain, however, a challenge. Digital maps of bedding, lithological contrast, spatial-temporal variations of bedding and permeability characteristics make it more easy to understand flow tortuosity in a particular architecture. An ability to precisely model these properties can improve reservoir characterization and flow modeling at different scales. Here we demonstrate the construction of realistic 2 D sandstone facies based models for a pragmatic simulation of flow dynamics using a combination of digital point clouds dataset acquired from LiDAR and field investigation of the Sandakan Formation, Sabah, ***, we present methods for enhancing the accuracy of outcrop digital datasets for producing high resolution flow simulation. A well-exposed outcrop from the Sandakan Formation, Sabah, northwest Borneo having a lateral extent of 750 m was chosen in order to implement our research approach. Sandstone facies and its connectivity are well constrained by outcrop observations, data from air-permeability measurements, bilinear interpolation of permeability, grid construction and water vector analysis for flow *** proportions were then enumerated in terms of static digital outcrop model(DOM) and facies model based on sandstone facies bedding characteristics. Flow simulation of water vector analysis through each of the four sandstone facies types show persistent spatial correlation of permeability that align with either cross-bedded orientation or straight with more dispersion high quality sandstone(porosity 21.25%-41.2%and permeability 1265.20-5986.25 mD) and moderate quality sandstone(porosity 10.44%-28.75% and permeabili

One of the cherished assets of every economy is electricity since it has proven to be the major source of energy for industrialization. Developing economies like Ghana have suffered the downside of poor management of the already inadequate electrical energy at its disposal. This is as a result of limited research into factors that influences electricity energy consumption, most importantly, the effects of climatic variables on electricity energy consumption. This research work explores the causal connection between climatic variables and electricity energy consumption, and develops a Vector Auto Regression (VAR) model to determine the influence of the climatic variables in forecasting electricity energy consumption in Yendi Municipality in the northern region of Ghana. The climatic factors considered in this work are;Rainfall (Rain), maximum temperature (Tmax), Sunshine (Sun), Wind (wind) and Relative Humidity (RH). The Granger causality tests employed in this work revealed that aside from Relative Humidity, the end energy consumption is affected by the other four climatic factors under consideration. The impulse response was used to ascertain the active interaction among electricity energy consumption and the climatic variables. The impulse response of electricity energy consumption to the climatic variables indicates a maximum positive effect of Temperature and Sunshine on electricity energy consumption in March and September respectively. The VAR model was also used in forecasting future consumption of electricity energy. The results indicate excellent forecasts of electricity energy consumption for the first four months of 2019.

This research management, exp and lores preliminarily the practices of quality management, management commitment in quality quality management implementation problems in construction projects in the context of Malaysian construction industry. The research applies semi-structured interview approach with twelve project management practitioners. The findings of the study indicate that the state of quality management in construction projects in Malaysia needs to be strengthened and there are problems in relation to quality management implementation that require attention and further research. The paper provides an insight on the state of quality management in construction projects in Malaysia.

This study examines the relationship among independent boards of directors, board size, managerial share ownership （MSO）, and earnings quality. The study of these relationships is controlled by firm size based on a sample of 114 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange （TSE） for the period from 2008 to 2010. The results demonstrate that there was an insignificant positive relationship among independent boards of directors, managerial ownership, and earnings quality. Subsequent analysis shows an insignificant negative relationship between board size and earnings quality. It also provides evidence of the negative relationship between firm size as a control variable and earnings quality. This can be attributed to the fact that large firms are claimed to be politically sensitive and thus have the incentive to lessen variances in changes in their reported earnings.
