Assessment of ecological fitness of woody species across land use is critical issues in degraded land ***,little is known about AGBC stored capacity,important value and distribution index of woody species grows in exclosure and adjacent open ***,this research is aimed to(i)analyse impact of exclosure on AGBC(ii)ecological fit species.A random sampling method was *** sample plots(50m*50m)were *** stocks(mean±SE)of woody species in adjacent open grazing and exclosure land use of GW site was 0.11±0.07 and 1.24±0.27Mg ha^(-1) *** in adjacent open grazing and exclosure land use of WG site,the value was 0.27±0.03 and 2.79±0.27Mgha^(-1) *** both site exclosure land uses,the proportion of rare,occasional and common woody species were better than their adjacent open grazing *** lustanica from open grazing and Vernonia auriculifera from exclosure land use of WG as well as Croton macrostachyus from open grazing and Leucaena leucocephala fromexclosure land use of GWsite were recorded as top ecologically fit *** is recommended to protect degraded lands via integrating ecologically adapted native species and fully used their diversity to achieve the potential benefits of land restoration.

Land rehabilitation by area exclosure was the fastest and moderate approach of recovering degraded ***,the effect of exclosure on woody species parameters in Jabitehnan district,north-western Ethiopia has not been ***,the current study was conducted(i)to assess and compare diversity,composition and density of woody species in exclosure and adjacent open lands,and(ii)to analyze population structure as well as regeneration status of woody species.A random sampling method was employed to select a total of 40 sample plots(50m*50m).A total of 8 parallel transect lines were used inside and outside the exclosure land in each site for consecutive(50m interval)plot *** diversity was 1.7 and 3.03 for WG,1.1 and 2.94 for GW open and exclosures,*** structure of woody species in exclosures of both sites exhibited an inverted J shape which indicates good regeneration status,while in adjacent open grazing land it exhibited partial bell ***,exclosure provides various biophysical benefits better than adjacent open grazing *** is recommended to protect degraded lands by exclosure via integrating appropriate species and convert their diversity into use so as to develop their potential benefits on land restoration.

A salting-out assisted liquid-liquid extraction method followed by high performance liquid chromatography with ultravio-let-visible detector(SALLE-HPLC-UV/Vis)has been proposed for determination of caffeine and nicotinic acid in raw and roasted coffee *** parameters affecting chromatographic separations including mobile phase composition,injec-tion volume,flow rate and column temperature were *** parameters affecting the extraction efficiency of SALLE method such as type and volume of the organic solvent,type and amount of salt,pH of the sample,and concentration of the ion-pairing reagent were also studied and thereby optimum conditions were *** calibration curves which were constructed at five different concentration levels using the optimum conditions exhibited good linearity,with the coef-ficient of determination(R2)0.999 and 0.995 for caffeine and nicotinic acid,*** limits of detection(LOD)and quantification(LOQ)which were determined at 3 and 10 times signal-to-noise ratio were 0.05 and 0.13 mg/L for nicotinic acid and 0.20 and 0.63 mg/L for caffeine,***-and inter-day precision studies were demonstrated satisfactory precision with RSD values below *** recoveries were also studied,and their results were ranging from 82-122%for both raw and roasted coffee *** findings demonstrated that the proposed method could be used as an effective and best alternative for the determination of caffeine and nicotinic acid in raw and roasted coffee samples.

Analysis of pesticide residue levels in juice beverages is important to ensure safe consumption and avoid global trade concerns associated to pesticide contaminations.A simple,inexpensive and effective method was developed for the determination of organochlorine pesticides(OCPs)in bottled juice drinks using *** pretreatment was performed using dispersive solid-phase microextraction(D-μ-SPE)for matrix desorption and dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction(DLLME)for analyte *** this study,an affordable and effective sorbent for the adsorption of OCPs from juice samples was synthesized from avocado seeds mixed with magnetic precursors for D-μ*** ground avocado seeds combined with a magnetic precursor nanocomposite were characterized using various instruments including scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)*** solution obtained from D-μ-SPE desorption was used as a dispersant for the subsequent DLLME,which made the combination of D-μ-SPE with DLLME much *** effectiveness of the method was enhanced by optimizing the influential parameters in both D-μ-SPE and *** after,the optimal values were determined for the real sample ***,there was good linear dynamic range with a coefficient of determination(r2)≥*** limit of detection and quantification were 0.02–0.69 and 0.06–2.10 ng/L *** method showed high enrichment factors ranging from 96 to 313 with recoveries of 87–100%.Intraday and interday precisions were≤4%.Compared with other reported methods,this method is a one-step,simple,cheap,fast,and environmentally friendly alternative and straightforward method for adsorbing organochlorine pesticides from sample *** results demonstrates the high potential of the proposed method for the extraction and cleanup of contaminants in selected juices and other related samples.

Determination of the Potency of Extracted, Purified and Formulated Insulin from the Pancreatic Organs of the Sudanese Beef Cattle

The treatment of type 1 diabetes is mainly dependent on insulin therapy and current formulated insulin formulations are used for its control all over the world. The presented study was designed to evaluate the potency of extracted, purified and formulated insulin from the pancreatic organs of the Sudanese beef cattle. Twenty healthy rabbits were used to conduct the study following subcutaneous administration of the sample insulin, to determine the hypoglycemic effect and to analyze the potency of the testing insulin by the hypoglycemic seizure method, blood sugar method and glucose enzymatic colorimetric test (GOD-PAP) respectively. The potency of the injected insulin samples was estimated by comparing the variation in blood glucose levels produced in the treated animals with that produced by a standard insulin preparation under the suitable conditions of the blood sugar method. The results revealed that the potency of the testing beef insulin samples was slightly higher (i.e., 2.2 USP units/ml, 9%) compared to the standard and assumed potency of the prepared insulin preparations (i.e., 1-2 USP units/ml) which indicated that the solvents and diluents used to prepare the assay dilution might be of higher potency and must be diluted to such an extent that the testing insulin potency must be compatible with the standard dilutions. Furthermore, to determine the choice of an assay to analyze the potency of insulin preparations, not only the accuracy of the result but also the purpose for which the test is to be used and the time limit must be taken into consideration.

The objective of this study was designed to investigate, evaluate the effect of vitamin E on streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats by showing significant changes in blood glucose, water, food intake, lipid profile, serum urea and ceratinine level, and antioxidant enzyme parameters activity. Streptozotocin (STZ)-induced toxicity was studied in male Waster rats;each divided into four groups: G1, GII, GIII, and GIV. Control rats GI, rats treated with vitamin E (GII), STZ-induced diabetic rats (GIII), and STZ-induced diabetic rats treated with vitamin E (G1V). Moreover, vitamin E reduced (p < 0.05) blood glucose and urea, thus, our study improved the lipid profile (reduced the serum levels of amount of total cholesterol, LDL, VLDL, cholesterol and triacyglycerols, and increased HDL cholesterol) and increased total amount protein in STZ-induced diabetic rats (GIV). Vitamin prevented modification in the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSX-Px) and in the concentration of the lipid hydroperoxide. Finally the study suggested that vitamin E improved hyperglycaemia and dyslipidaemia while inhibiting the progression of oxidative stress in STZ-induced diabetic rats.

Libyan Licenses Plate Recognition Using Template Matching Method

License plate recognition (LPR) applies image processing and character recognition technology to identify vehicles by automatically reading their license plates. The work presented in this paper aims to create a computer vision system capable of taking real-time input image from a static camera and identifying the license plate from extracted image. This problem is examined in two stages: First the license plate region detection and extraction from background and plate segmentation to sub-images, and second the character recognition stage. The method used for the license plate region detection is based on the assumption that the license plate area is a high concentration of smaller details, making it a region of high intensity of edges. The Sobel filter and their vertical and horizontal projections are used to identify the plate region. The result of testing this stage was an accuracy of 67.5%. The final stage of the LPR system is optical character recognition (OCR). The method adopted for this stage is based on template matching using correlation. Testing the performance of OCR resulted in an overall recognition rate of 87.76%.

Determination of the Stability Studies of the Sudanese Camel Insulin

The main objective of the presented study was to characterize the stability of the Sudanese camel insulin after 6 months of its extraction, purification and formulation from the fresh pancreatic glands of the camel, slaughtered for local and export consumption. The stability and purity of the formulated insulin samples were compared to standard insulin sam-ples that of the leading manufacturing companies using some analytical techniques such as HPLC, gel electrophoresis and atomic absorption. In another part of the study, the direct transfer method was used to accomplish sterility test by complete immersion of the insulin samples into thioglycollate and soybean medium. The data were presented as mean ± S.E.M (standard error of means) for the comparison of zinc (mg/units) and nitrogen (in percentage) concentrations in standard and testing camel insulin samples, respectively. Similarly, the linear equation was derived and the coefficient factors for standard and testing insulin samples were compared to determine the peak area and the concentrations of the camel insulin samples (mean ± S.E.M) after HPLC elution.
