Privacy-preserved learning from non-i.i.d data in fog-assisted IoT:A federated learning approach

With the prevalence of the Internet of Things(IoT)systems,smart cities comprise complex networks,including sensors,actuators,appliances,and cyber *** complexity and heterogeneity of smart cities have become vulnerable to sophisticated cyber-attacks,especially privacy-related attacks such as inference and data poisoning *** Learning(FL)has been regarded as a hopeful method to enable distributed learning with privacypreserved intelligence in IoT *** though the significance of developing privacy-preserving FL has drawn as a great research interest,the current research only concentrates on FL with independent identically distributed(i.i.d)data and few studies have addressed the non-i.i.d *** is known to be vulnerable to Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)attacks,where an adversary can presume to act as a contributor participating in the training process to acquire the private data of other *** paper proposes an innovative Privacy Protection-based Federated Deep Learning(PP-FDL)framework,which accomplishes data protection against privacy-related GAN attacks,along with high classification rates from non-i.i.d ***-FDL is designed to enable fog nodes to cooperate to train the FDL model in a way that ensures contributors have no access to the data of each other,where class probabilities are protected utilizing a private identifier generated for each *** PP-FDL framework is evaluated for image classification using simple convolutional networks which are trained using MNIST and CIFAR-10 *** empirical results have revealed that PF-DFL can achieve data protection and the framework outperforms the other three state-of-the-art models with 3%–8%as accuracy improvements.

Congestion control is among primary topics in computer network in which random early detection(RED)method is one of its common ***,RED suffers from drawbacks in particular when its“average queue length”is set below the buffer’s“minimum threshold”position which makes the router buffer quickly *** deal with this issue,this paper proposes two discrete-time queue analytical models that aim to utilize an instant queue length parameter as a congestion *** assigns mean queue length(mql)and average queueing delay smaller values than those for RED and eventually reduces buffers overflow.A comparison between RED and the proposed analytical models was conducted to identify the model that offers better *** proposed models outperform the classic RED in regards to mql and average queueing delay measures when congestion *** work also compares one of the proposed models(RED-Linear)with another analytical model named threshold-based linear reduction of arrival rate(TLRAR).The results of the mql,average queueing delay and the probability of packet loss for TLRAR are deteriorated when heavy congestion occurs,whereas,the results of our RED-Linear were not impacted and this shows superiority of our model.

Congestion is one of the well-studied problems in computer networks,which occurs when the request for network resources exceeds the buffer *** active queue management techniques such as BLUE and RED have been proposed in the literature to control congestions in early *** this paper,we propose two discrete-time queueing network analytical models to drop the arrival packets in preliminary stages when the network becomes *** first model is based on Lambda Decreasing and it drops packets from a probability value to another higher value according to the buffer *** the second proposed model drops packets linearly based on the current queue *** compare the performance of both our models with the original BLUE in order to decide which of these methods offers better quality of *** comparison is done in terms of packet dropping probability,average queue length,throughput ratio,average queueing delay,and packet loss rate.

Spectrofluorimetric and spectrophotometric stability-indicating methods were developed and validated for analysis of veralipride （Ver） in presence of its hydrolytic and oxidative degradants. The spectrofluorimetric method was based on direct measurement of the intrinsic fluorescence of Ver at 366 nm after excitation at 299 nm using sodium lauryl sulfate （SLS） as micelle enhancer. The fluorescence intensity plot was linear over the concentration range 1.0-10.0 ***-1. The high sensitivity of the method allowed its successful application to the analysis of Ver in spiked human plasma. Two other methods were developed. They are based on the oxidative coupling reac- tion of Vet with 3-methyl benzothiazolin-2-one hydrazone （MBTH） hydrochloride in presence of ceric ammonium sulphate in an acidic medium. The first method depends on spectrophotometric measurement of the stable green colored oxidative coupling product at 660 nm. The different experimental parameters affecting the reaction were optimized. Linearity range is 10.0--100.0 ~tgomL-1. The second method depends on a fluorescence quenching effect of Vet on the fluorescence of Ce3＋. The difference in fluorescence intensity was measured at 380 nm after excitation at 300 nm. This method is applicable over the concentration ranges 0.25-2.50 pg-mL-1. The methods were validated according to the ICH guidelines. They were successfully applied for the analysis of Ver in drug substance, drug product and in laboratory prepared mixtures containing different percentages of hydrolytic and oxidative degradants.

Osteoarthritis(OA)has been defined as a chronic inflammatory joint disease characterized by progressive articular cartilage *** growing interest in regenerative medicine,using cell therapy and tissue engineering,where cellular components in combination with engineered scaffolds and bioactive materials were used to induce functional tissue *** the present study,nanofibrous scaffold based on chitosan(CS)/poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)were used to develop biologically functionalized biomaterial to mimic the extracellular matrix,allowing the human adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells(ADSCs)to proliferate and differentiate to chondrogenic *** morphology of the nanofibrous mat was examined using field emission scanning electron microscope(FE/SEM).The characteristic functional groups and the nature of the chemical bonds between atoms were evaluated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)*** of the seeded cells was morphologically evaluated by scanning electron microscopy and by flow cytometry for the expression of the stem cell surface *** differentiation potential was verified after chondrogenic induction by analyzing the expression of chondrogenic marker genes using real-time(RT PCR).Current study suggest significant potential for the use of ADSCs with the nanofibrous scaffolds in improving the osteoarthritis pathology.

Today, mammography is the best method for early detection of breast cancer. Radiologists failed to detect evident cancerous signs in approximately 20% of false negative mammograms. False negatives have been identified as the inability of the radiologist to detect the abnormalities due to several reasons such as poor image quality, image noise, or eye fatigue. This paper presents a framework for a computer aided detection system that integrates Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Fisher Linear Discriminant (FLD), and Nearest Neighbor Classifier (KNN) algorithms for the detection of abnormalities in mammograms. Using normal and abnormal mammograms from the MIAS database, the integrated algorithm achieved 93.06% classification accuracy. Also in this paper, we present an analysis of the integrated algorithm’s parameters and suggest selection criteria.
