background: The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a goal to eradicate or at least significantly reduce the prevalence the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) by 2030. The main objective was to provide an evolving overview of the prevalence of HIV, HBV and HCV infection between 2003 and 2022 in Burkina Faso. Methods: It was a retrospective cross-sectional study based on data from 2003 to 2022. The data were collected using information available in the databases of the HOSCO and CERba laboratories and included all individuals who underwent HIV and/or HBV and/or HCV testing. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 20.0, EpiInfo 7, and R version 4.1.0. Results were considered statistically significant if p Results: The study recorded 7432 samples and the mean age of the subjects was 27.98 ± 8.50 years. During this period, the respective prevalence of HIV, HBV, and HCV were 4.66% (346/7432), 8.77% (582/6636) and 5.54% (322/5816). However, from 2003 to 2022, there was a significant decrease (P y=−1.75x+12.59;y=−0.24x+10.01and y=−0.11x+6.02, with “y” corresponding to prevalence and “x” to the years. Conclusion: Burkina Faso needs to rigorously apply prevention and control strategies recommended by the WHO by 2030.

Litho-Tectonic Architecture of the Dialafara Area, Kédougou-Kéniéba Inlier, Integration of New Field Data and Geophysics

The Dialafara area is part of the highly endowed Kédougou-Kéniéba Inlier (KKI), West-Malian gold belt, which corresponds to a Paleoproterozoic window through the West African Craton (WAC). This study presents, first of all, an integration of geophysical data interpretation with litho-structural field reconnaissance and then proposes a new litho-structural map of the Dialafara area. The Dialafara area shows a variety of lithology characterized by volcanic and volcano-sedimentary units, metasediments and plutonic intrusion. These lithologies were affected by a complex superposition of structures of unequal importance defining three deformation phases (DD1 to DD3) under ductile to brittle regimes. These features permit to portray a new litho-structural map, which shows that the Dialafara area presents a more complex lithological and structural context than the one presented in regional map of the KKI. This leads to the evidence that this area could be a potential site for exploration as it is situated between two world-class gold districts.

background: Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia. The latter plays an essential role in inflammation by stimulating the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines or by increasing their secretion by an oxidative mechanism. These cytokines control the hepatic synthesis of an inflammatory protein called C-Reactive Protein (CRP). High or average values of CRP would have a predictive value of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. The relationship between low CRP values and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and its cardiovascular complications is not sufficiently studied. The hsCRP could serve as a predictive biomarker of risk of onset, follow-up and prognosis for type 2 diabetes and its cardiovascular complications. To answer this problem, we conducted this study, the aim of which was to study the predictive role of hsCRP in the risk of occurrence of type 2 diabetes and its cardiovascular complications. Materials and Methods: This is a prospective and cross-sectional case-control study involving 200 participants including 100 control women and 100 women with type 2 diabetes (mean age was respectively 49.89 years ± 8.26 & 51.92 years ± 7.18;p = 0.066). The interviews were conducted on the basis of a questionnaire. Physical examination collected biometric data and cardiovascular constants. The biochemical parameters such as hsCRP were analyzed by an automated Abbott device. Results: We noted that hsCRP was significantly higher in type 2 diabetic subjects compared to control subjects (p (rho = 0.40, p systolic blood pressure (rho = 0.30, p = 0.003), diastolic blood pressure (rho = 0.28, p = 0.006), total body fat (rho = 0.48, p Conclusion: hsCRP has a prognostic value in the evaluation of cardiovascular risk. It seems to play an important role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus and its cardiovascular complications. 目的探讨华中地区肌萎缩侧索硬化症(amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS)患者外周血淋巴细胞亚群改变与疾病进展之间的关系。方法对133名在华中科技大学同济医学院附属同济医院诊断的ALS患者进行疾病进展评估,将纳入的患者分为快进展组和慢进展组。对两组患者进行外周血淋巴细胞亚群测定并进行组间比较,采用Logistic回归分析组间差异性淋巴细胞指标与疾病进展速度之间的关系。结果慢进展组ALS患者外周血总T淋巴细胞(CD3+CD19-细胞)比例低于快进展组患者(P<0.05),NK细胞计数、NK细胞比例和表达第二信号受体的辅助性T细胞(CD28+Th细胞)比例高于快进展组患者(均P<0.05)。Logistic回归结果显示NK细胞计数较高(OR=0.992,P<0.05)和CD28+Th细胞比例较高(OR=0.895,P<0.05)是ALS疾病进展的保护因素。结论慢进展和快进展ALS患者外周血淋巴细胞特征存在差异,固有免疫系统可能参与了ALS疾病进展。

A recent study by Zoufaly et *** in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine describes encouraging data from the first severe COVID-19 patient successfully treated with human recombinant soluble angiotensin-converting enzyme-2(hrsACE2).1 The published data document upon treatment of an adaptive immune response,the disappearance of the virus swiftly from the serum,the nasal cavity and lungs,and a reduction of inflammatory cytokine levels that are critical for COVID-19 ***,the use of hrsACE2 did not impede the generation of neutralizing antibodies,leading to a significant clinical improvement of the treated patient.

Study on daily surface evapotranspiration with SEBS in Tibet Autonomous Region

The estimation of surface evapotranspiration （et） with satellite dataset is one of the main subjects in the understanding of climate change, disaster monitoring and the circulation of water vapor and energy in Tibet Autonomous Region （TAR）. This research selects satellite images on January 11, April 6, July 31 and October 19 in 2010 as the representative of winter, spring, summer and autumn respectively, estimates the distribution of daily surface et based on the surface energy balance system （SEBS） along with potential evapotranspiration （Pet） and et derived from Penman-Monteith （P-M） method. The results are obtained as follows. （1） The seasonal distribution of et and Pet basically decreases from the southeast part to the northwest part of TAR. Although et and Pet have similar spatial distributions, there are still some differences to estimate the extreme values especially the maximum value in the middle and southeastern parts of TAR. No matter what kind of methods we adopted, the maximum value of et and Pet always appears in summer, followed by autumn or spring while that in winter is the smallest. （2） In order to better understand the accuracy of SEBS model in the estimation of et, we compared the et from SEBS and the et obtained from P-M method. Results show that the et from SEBS could estimates the variation trend of actual et, but it slightly underestimates or overestimates the value of et as a whole, especially for those areas with thick forest. （3） The spatial distribution of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index （NDVI） exhibits a decreasing trend from the southeast part to the northwest part of TAR which displays remarkable consistency of distributions between et and vegetation index. et is well positively related to NDVI, minimum, mean, maximum air temperature and sunshine duration in different seasons while negatively related to precipitation, relative humidity and wind speed in summer.

Introduction: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most widespread sexually transmitted infection in the world. Today, there is growing evidence that HPV can be transmitted early in life, and one potential route is mother-to-child transmission. Data on this route of HPV transmission are scarce in Africa and particularly in Burkina Faso, where no data on the subject are yet available. The aim of our study was to estimate the rate of mother-to-child transmission of HPV infection and to identify circulating genotypes. Methodology: Cervico-uterine samples were collected from 100 full-term pregnant women and, buccal samples were obtained from their newborns at Hopital Saint Camille de Ouagadougou (HOSCO) by the specialist physician. HPV DNA amplification and genotyping were performed by PCR followed by hybridization using the HPV Direct Flow Chips kit, detecting 36 genotypes including 18 high-risk and 18 low-risk. Results: The prevalence of HPV in newborns was 8% (8/100). Six (6) HPV-positive neonates had HPV-positive mothers, while 2 HPV-positive neonates had HPV-negative mothers. The vertical transmission rate was 26.09% (6/23). Mother-newborn genotypes were concordant. However, the genotype profile of the newborns was more restricted than that of the mothers. Conclusion: HPV DNA was found in 8% of newborns in our study. The genotype profile of the mother-newborn pair was concordant. Asymptomatic HPV infection in a pregnant woman could constitute a risk factor for vertical transmission.

In Tube Condensation:Changing the Pressure Drop into a Temperature Difference for a Wire-on-Tube Heat Exchanger

A theoretical study based on the Penalty factor(PF)method by Cavallini et *** conducted to show that the pressure drop occurring in a wire-on-tube heat exchanger can be converted into a temperature difference for two types of refrigerants R-134a and R-600a typically used for charging refrigerators and *** following conditions are considered:stratiﬁed or stratiﬁed-wavyﬂow condensation occurring inside the smooth tube of a wire-on-tube condenser with diameter 3.25,4.83,and 6.299 mm,condensation temperatures 35℃,45℃,and 54.4℃ and cover refrigerant massﬂow rate spanning the interval from 1 to 7 kg/*** results show that the PF variation is not linear with vapor quality and attains a maximum when the vapor quality is 0.2 and 0.18 for the R-134a and R-600a refrigerants,*** PF increases with the refrigerant massﬂow rate if the inner diameter and saturation temperature constant,and it decreases on increasing the inner diameter to 6.299 mm for constant refrigerant massﬂow rate and saturation *** PF for R-600a is higher than that for R-134a due to the lower saturation pressure in theﬁrst ***,a stratiﬁedﬂow produces higher PF in comparison to the annularﬂow due to the effect of the surface tension.

In Drosophila melanogaster,the male ejaculatory bulb is the site of synthesis of a male-specific pheromone,cis-vaccenyl acetate,which functions as both an attractant and an *** long monounsaturated acetate is structurally similar to a number of shorter gland-synthesized moth *** cell monolayer that forms the Drosophila male ejaculatory bulb wall is responsible for the production and secretion of cis-vaccenyl acetate into the seminal *** dissected bulbs were incubated with sodium[14-C]-acetate(or deuterated acetate),a labeled acetate ester was *** labeled acetate ester co-migrated with cis-vaccenyl acetate in thin layer *** of the abdomens of males from which the ejaculatory bulbs had been removed,or the abdomens of females,with radiolabeled acetate did not yield any acetate ester,but did yield other lipid products,including *** the isolated labeled acetate ester was hydrolyzed,no radioactive vaccenol was *** strongly suggests that the acetyl group is incorporated via a transacetylation reaction,but that the vaccenyl moiety is not synthetized in the *** transacetylation enzyme activity was localized in the microsomal subfraction of the bulb homogenate,and its affinity for vaccenol was not very different from that reported for monounsaturated alcohol substrates in moths.
