Formation damage due to fines migration is a major reason for well productivity decline for oil and gas *** fines are small enough to pass through pore throats causing pore plugging and permeability *** factors affect fines migration such as flow rate,salinity,pH value,reservoir temperature and oil polarity,as well as changes in chemical environment induced by Enhanced Oil Recovery(EOR)*** paper focuses on the effect of flow rates on fines detachment from the grain surfaces,which causing permeability *** the fluid inside the reservoir moves towards the wellbore,the fluid velocity increases,when the fluid reaches the critical flow rate these fines can be picked up into the *** fines captured by thinner pore throats causing pore plugging and permeability *** concentrations of nanoparticles were used to fix these fines on their sources and prevent their mobilization at high flow *** unique technique used in this study is changing the potential surfaces between fines and grain surfaces to prevent fines movement above the critical flow ***_(2)and MgO NPs used in this study can be adsorbed on the pore surfaces and reduce the repulsion forces between fines and pore ***_(2) and MgO nanoparticles at different concentrations(0.25,0.50 and 0.75 g/L)were used on treating the Abu-Rawash sandstone reservoir using Formation Damage System Cell *** experimental studies showed that using MgO NPs would prevent fines detachment from the pore surfaces and decrease the reduction of permeability at high flow rates more than SiO_(2) *** optimum concentration of MgO NPs was at 0.5 g/L as the permeability remediation at this concentration reaches to 64.83%.

El-Ashmonein is a significant archaeological site with different buildings from various eras. Between the villages of El-Idara and El-Ashmonein are there mains of Hermopolis, one of the ancient Egyptian metropolis capitals of the fifteenth century of Upper Egypt, called the hare. The buildings in this archaeological site are exposed to many causes of destruction and damage. The remaining structures and granite free standing columns in this area are suffered from plenty of geo-environmental and geotechnical problems. The main objectives of this study are 1) to assess the current state of preservation of this important archaeological site, especially the basilica church with its free standing huge columns, 2) to analyze the different actions which cause the destruction of the archaeological site, in particular the old flash floods and earthquakes, and 3) to identify the geochemical and engineering properties of the construction materials of the granitic columns and other limestone structures of the basilica church by using different kind of sophisticated analytical and diagnostic tools and methods. The multi-criteria analysis allowed the integration of several elements for mapping the vulnerable zones. Results revealed that about 80% of the study area was exposed to high and medium old floods vulnerability because of the vicinity to the Nile River. The structural and non-structural measures recommended in this research will help the decision makers and planners to effectively develop strategies for future site management, intervention retrofitting and rehabilitation of this unique archaeological site.

Investigating the Effect of Various Nanomaterials on the Wettability of Sandstone Reservoir

Wettability is the ability of a fluid to stick to a solid surface in the presence of other immiscible fluids. Wettability alteration is crucial as it affects the amount of oil recovered from a given reservoir. The majority of enhanced oil recovery mechanisms purposefully alter the wettability of the reservoir rock from oil-wet to water-wet;to increase the amount of oil recovered from it. This study investigates the effect of various nanomaterials on the wettability, and particularly the brine phase contact angle, of a sand stone reservoir. The nanomaterials used are Magnesium/Aluminum Layered Double Hydroxide, Silica/Zirconia, and a combination of 80.0% Magnesium/Aluminum Layered Double Hydroxide (Mg/Al-LDH) and 20.0% Silica/Zirconia (Zi/Zr). The results suggest that a concentration of 4.0 g/L of Magnesium/Aluminum Layered Double Hydroxide (Mg/Al-LDH) decreases the brine phase contact angle, in the presence of oil, from 66° to 60° in 0.033 minute as opposed to Silica/Zirconia which increases the brine phase contact angle to 68° in the same time interval. The combination of both nanoparticles results in a decrease of 1.0° in the brine phase contact angle indicating that Silica/Zirconia (Zi/Zr) lowers the efficiency of Magnesium/Aluminum Layered Double Hydroxide’s adsorption to the sandstone surface.

Letrozole versus Gonadotropin in Unexplained Infertile Couples Failed to Conceive with Clomiphene Citrate

Background:?Unexplained infertility represents about 15% - 20% of infertile couples. Usually, these cases need assistance. Clomiphene citrate is the most used drug for this problem but sometimes pregnancy failed to achieve it, so other options for assistance are gonadotrophin or letrezole. The objective of our study was to compare the pregnancy rate for letrezole and gonadotropin inunexplained infertile women’s who failed to conceive with clomiphene citrate. Methods: This prospective quasi-randomized trial was carried out in cytogenetic unite at obstetrics and gynecology department, Zagazig University Hospital. 140 infertile females were included, induction of ovulation by letrozole for half of them and by gonadotrophin for the other half. Results: There was statistically highly significant decrease in duration of stimulation, E2 levels and endometrial thickness at day of HCG in letrezole group, no significant difference between two groups as regard number of follicles and pregnancy rate per cycle, while the cumulative pregnancy rate and the cost of stimulation are significantly higher in gonadotrophin group. Conclusion: In patient with unexplained infertility who failed to conceive with clomiphene citrate, gonadotrophins have a higher pregnancy rate than letrezole. However, pregnancy rate was high enough with lower cost with letrezole to be acceptable and justified its use in this group of patients.

Seeking ways to diminish Egypt’s dependency on foreign oil imports, we had to look for the obvious resources to exploit. Oil shale is one of Egypt’s resources that are left abandoned and not used. This project is aiming at introducing both experimental analysis for oil shale in Egypt and the best production technique for it. This study is about experimentally analyzing different samples of potential oil shale fields in Egypt. Samples that are analyzed in this project are from two locations in Egypt: Quseir-Safaga and Abu-Tartur Western Desert, and they are compared to one of the best oil shale fields in the world, which is from Green River Formation Colorado. The experiments were done using AUC lab retort to experimentally determine the critical temperature that will lead to the maximum production using sudden and gradual change in temperatures, which turned out to be sudden change at 500°C. Thereafter, the degree of API gravity was calculated for each run. Then the oil samples were determined for impurities and liquid chromatography results in the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute. Part two of the study plan has been included to determine the ultimate ways of producing efficiently, ecologically and economically.

Few-Shot Learning for Discovering Anomalous Behaviors in Edge Networks

Intrusion Detection Systems(IDSs)have a great interest these days to discover complex attack events and protect the critical infrastructures of the Internet of Things(IoT)*** IDSs based on shallow and deep network architectures demand high computational resources and high volumes of data to establish an adaptive detection engine that discovers new families of attacks from the edge of IoT ***,attackers exploit network gateways at the edge using new attacking scenarios(i.e.,zero-day attacks),such as ransomware and Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS)*** paper proposes new IDS based on Few-Shot Deep Learning,named CNN-IDS,which can automatically identify zero-day attacks from the edge of a network and protect its IoT *** proposed system comprises two-methodological stages:1)a filtered Information Gain method is to select the most useful features from network data,and 2)one-dimensional Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)algorithm is to recognize new attack types from a network’s *** proposed model is trained and validated using two datasets of the UNSW-NB15 and *** experimental results showed that it enhances about a 3%detection rate and around a 3%–4%falsepositive rate with the UNSW-NB15 dataset and about an 8%detection rate using the BoT-IoT dataset.

Service composition is an important and effective technique that enables atomic services to be combined together to forma more powerful service,i.e.,a composite *** the pervasiveness of the Internet and the proliferation of interconnected computing devices,it is essential that service composition embraces an adaptive service provisioning *** learning has emerged as a powerful tool to compose and adapt Web services in open and dynamic ***,the most common applications of reinforcement learning algorithms are relatively inefficient in their use of the interaction experience data,whichmay affect the stability of the learning process when deployed to cloud *** particular,they make just one learning update for each interaction *** paper introduces a novel approach that aims to achieve greater data efficiency by saving the experience data and using it in aggregate to make updates to the learned *** proposed approach devises an offline learning scheme for cloud service composition where the online learning task is transformed into a series of supervised learning tasks.A set of algorithms is proposed under this scheme in order to facilitate and empower efficient service composition in the cloud under various policies and different *** results of our experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed approach for composing and adapting cloud services,especially under dynamic environment settings,compared to their online learning counterparts.

Genesis and Tectonic Implications of the Kabr El-Bonaya Ultramafic Rocks,Sinai Peninsula,Egypt:Constraints from Mineralogical and Geochemical Characteristics

The Kabr El-Bonaya mafic–ultramafic intrusion is exposed along the southeastern border of the Sinai Peninsula and the northernmost segment of the Arabian-Nubian Shield(ANS).It occurs as an elliptical intrusive body that is located along the major NE–SW trending fracture zones that prevail in the Kid metamorphic *** ultramafic rocks in the complex comprise ultramafic cumulates of peridotites(dunite,harzburgite and wehrlite)and *** rocks are generally unmetamorphosed and have intrusive contacts with the country *** chemistry and whole-rock chemical compositions of these ultramafic rocks are mostly consistent with those of residual mantle peridotites from refractory suprasubduction tectonic *** on the variations of the major elements,the studied ultramafic rocks are consistent with those of a supra-subduction zone mantle,as it seems to have melted at 1–2 GPa and 1300–1450℃.Linear variations of Al2O3,Ca O,V and Ni with Mg O,coupled with incompatible and rare-earth-element depletion and mineral compositions,suggest prior events of partial melting in both wehrlites and *** LREE enrichment in the harzburgite,as well as the development of Cr-rich spinel,is consistent with a history of melt–peridotite *** calculated(Sm/Yb)N variations for the studied peridotites indicate a general increase in the addition of fluids with an increasing degree of melting from the wehrlite(~13–15 wt%of fluid)in the source,after initial spinel peridotite melting to the harzburgite(~20–25 wt%of fluid)in the same source,which is contrary to normal abyssal *** estimated equilibration temperature ranges from 1214 to 1321℃for the studied wehrlites and from 1297 to 1374℃for *** Mg-rich nature of the analysed olivines from the studied ultramafic rocks(Fo=81.41 to 91.77)reflect their primary composition and are similar to olivines in Alaskan-type ultramafic *** Fo content of the analyzed olivines decrease sli
