摩洛哥(Morocco)王国位于非洲西北部,西濒大西洋,北临地中海,1月平均气温12℃,7月平均气温22～24℃,极端最高气温33.5℃,最低气温5.5℃.中、北部为地中海型亚热带气候,昼夜温差大,每日日照时间比中国长江流域长1～2h;全国人口 2900万,农业人口占70%以上,北部山区高达90%.可耕地面积828万hm2,年降水量从中部到北部为200～800mm.中、北部地区,特别是北部地区非常适宜种桑与养蚕.笔者等受国家外经贸部的派遣,在执行援外任务期间,进行了中国桑蚕品种在摩洛哥地区饲养的适应性试验.

Prevalence and Factors Associated with Low Back Pain among Healthcare Workers in Two Hospitals in Yaoundé-Cameroon: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a very common health problem amongst the general population and a major cause of disability that affects work performance and well-being. Healthcare workers (HCWs) are especially at risk of developing LBP because of physical and emotional factors. Little is known about the burden of LBP in Cameroon. Objective: To determine the prevalence of low back pain and identify its associated factors among healthcare workers. Methods: A cross-sectional study using a self-administered questionnaire was conducted among healthcare workers in the Yaound Central Hospital and the Yaound University Teaching Hospital. The questionnaire collected data regarding recent, past year and lifetime occurrences of LBP, socio-demographics and work conditions. Data were analysed using IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26. Results: A total number of 268 HCWs participated in the study, including 197 (73.5%) females and 71 (26.5%) males. The mean age of the study participants was 40.60 8.38 years (extremes of 20 and 65 years). The lifetime, annual, and point prevalences of LBP among the participants were 67.5% (CI: 61.6 - 73.1), 61.5% (CI: 55.6 - 67.1) and 35.7% (CI: 29.7 - 41.5) respectively. Multivariate analysis confirmed a moderate stress level, a sedentary lifestyle, working in the medicine and specialities department, lifting heavy objects and bending to work as associated factors to LBP. Most sufferers had a minimal functional disability (65.7%) while 34.3% had a moderate to severe disability. Conclusions: Healthcare providers have a considerably high prevalence of low back pain. Factors associated with LBP found in this study were similar to those widely recognized in the literature. A substantial proportion of healthcare providers are suffering from functional disability associated with low back pain, affecting their social and work lives. A Wireless Sensors Network (WSN) is an ad-hoc network populated by small hand-held commodity devices, running on batteries called stations or sensors. Often used in hostiles and sometimes unreachable environments, stations are subject to energetic constraints which can significantly decrease the network life time. Permutation routing problem is mainly found in the literature of WSN. This problem occurs when some stations have items that belong either or not to them. The goal is to send each item to its receiver. To solve this problem, several works are presented in the literature. In this paper, we present a new permutation routing protocol for multi-hop wireless sensors network that, compared to recent work in the field is more efficient in terms of conservation of sensors’ energy, which results in a longer life time of the network. Also, contrary to some other routing protocols which assume that the memory of the sensors is infinite, we show that the memory size of the sensors is limited, which in our opinion is more realistic.

In this work the performance of a screening analytical method for Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) analysis in terms of accuracy and precision was evaluated through analysis of rock standard reference materials. The method allowed the division of elements into four groups taking into account the excitation energies and measurement conditions of the sample. Two standard reference materials were used and 15 sample replicates were prepared and analyzed, then statistics were applied to assess the precision and accuracy of analytical results. The obtained results show that major compounds or elements (SiO2, P2O5, K2O, CaO, Fe2O3, Ti) can be determined in fine powder sample with a deviation lower than 15%, and a relative standard deviation in the range (1 - 10)%. The deviation was found to be lower than 5% for major compounds such as K2O, and CaO, which suggest that the EDXRF is accurate in evaluating major elemental concentrations in rock samples. It was also found that the method seems to be more accurate and precise for major elements than for trace element investigation. This screening analytical method can be used for routine analysis with acceptable results, even though the method should be optimized to increase its precision and accuracy.

Numerous studies are being carried out on polymorphisms within the genes coding for factors VIII and IX due to their clinical relevance in the context of hereditary disorders. The quests for polymorphism can be used to screen for haemophilia through an affected family. In Cameroon, very few studies on factors VIII and IX gene polymorphisms have been conducted. Thus, this study was aimed at detecting HindIII SNP of the F8 gene and MseI SNP of the F9 gene by the Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RLFP) method and determining their involvement in the severity and complications of haemophilia. Fifty-five consented haemophilia patients from the Centre Hospitalier et Universitaire de Yaoundé (CHUY) were recruited for this study on a convenience sampling basis. Finger-prick blood was collected and spotted on filter papers from which DNA was extracted and then subjected to the PCR-RFLP. We were able to recruit 55 (37.16%) patients out of the 148 haemophilia patients registered at the CHUY until December 2018. The average age was 15 years. Of the 55 haemophilia patients, 42 (76.36%) had type A haemophilia and 13 (23.64%) had type B haemophilia, 41 patients (74.55%) had a severe form, 10 (18.18%) had a moderate form and 4 (7.27%) a mild form). Of the 55 patients recruited, 38 (69.09%) already had an osteoarticular complication and the remaining 17 (30.91%) had no complication. Fifty-three (96.36%) participants had HindIII SNP and a significant association was found with the severity of hemophilia (P = 0.00). No association (P = 0.56) was found with osteoarticular complications of haemophilia. On the other hand, 15 (27.27%) participants were diagnosed with MseI SNPs and no association was found with the severity (P = 0.89) or complications (P = 0.68) of haemophilia.

Background: Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative blood neoplasia, characterized by the presence of a translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22 leading to the formation of the Philadelphia chromosome. Data on the biological profile of patients with CML at diagnosis are still lacking in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Cameroon. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out from January 2001 to July 2016 among patients recently diagnosed with CML at the Yaounde University Teaching Hospital, the Yaoundé Central Hospital and the Yaoundé General Hospital. Analyzed variables included socio-demographic, clinical presentation, the diagnosis means, biological parameters (hematological and biochemical). Sampling was consecutive. Results: We included 132 (76 males) patients with CML with a median age of 39.2 years at diagnosis. The 31 - 45 years age group was the most represented, with 40.9% of the study population. A risk factor was found in only 5 (3.8%) of patients. Clinical manifestations were recorded in only 27 (20.45%) patients, with fatigue being the commonest (10.6%). Almost all patients (128, 96.9%) have performed the karyotype while 22 (16.7%) have performed fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and 4 (3.0%) the PCR. At diagnosis, 66% of the patients were in the chronic phase (CP), 11.3% in accelerated phase (AP), and 22.7% in blast crisis (BC). All patients presented hyperleukocytosis, with a white blood cell mean of 128,362/mm3. Anemia was common (77.3%), usually moderate (61.4%). Thrombocytopenia was rare (8.3%), as far as basophilia (1.2%). Among those patients, mean values of creatinine, Glutamic pyruvate transaminase (GPT) and glycemia were normal while activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), prothrombin time (PT), plasma uric acid level, gamma glutamic transferase (GGT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and inflammatory paramete
