OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the sternocleidomastoid and the descending portion of the trapezius muscles in terms of electromyographic activity and pressure pain threshold in women with chronic cervical pain after acupuncture ***:Twenty-five women,aged 18-50 years[(31±3)years],with chronic neck and temporomandibular disorder participated in the *** electromyographic activity of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the descending portion of the trapezius muscle were recorded at rest,during shoulder elevation,(left and right)rotation of the neck and crucifix *** voluntary contraction was used to normalize the electromyographic activity *** points used for acupuncture were Jiache(ST 6),Xiaguan(ST 7),Quanliao(SI 18),Tinggong(SI 19),Yifeng(TE-17),Fengchi(GB 20),Renzhong(GV 26),Yangbai(GB-14),and points of the lower and upper limbs:Tai chong(LV 3),Zusanli(ST 36),Sanyinjiao(SP 6),Kunlun(BL 60),He Gu(LI4)and Yanglingquan(GB 34).The treatment course was 10 sessions,30 min long per session,and twice a *** final electromyographic activity and pressure pain threshold data collection were performed 15 d after treatment ***:The normalized electromyographic activity and pressure pain threshold data were tabulated and submitted to statistical analysis using t-test(P0.05).Significant difference was observed during shoulder elevation for the left trapezius muscle,during neck rotation from the right side to the left,and pressure pain threshold for the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles,bilaterally,after the acupuncture ***:The acupuncture treatment improved the neck muscles in terms of electromyographic activity and increased the tolerance to chronic pain in women.

The spectrum of serological markers associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is rapidly growing. Due to frequently delayed or missed diagnoses, the application of non-invasive diagnostic tests for IBD, as well as differentiation between ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD), would be useful in the pediatric population. In addition, the combination of pancreatic autoantibodies and antibodies against Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies/perinuclear cytoplasmic antibody (pANCA) improved the sensitivity of serological markers in pediatric patients with CD and UC. Some studies suggested that age-associated differences in the patterns of antibodies may be present, particularly in the youngest children. In CD, most patients develop stricturing or perforating complications, and a significant number of patients undergo surgery during the disease course. Based on recent knowledge, serum antibodies are qualitatively and quantitatively associated with complicated CD behavior and CD-related surgery. Pediatric UC is characterized by extensive colitis and a high rate of colectomy. In patients with UC, high levels of anti-CBir1 and pANCA are associated with the development of pouchitis after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis. Thus, serologic markers for IBD can be applied to stratify IBD patients into more homogeneous subgroups with respect to disease progression. In conclusion, identification of patients at an increased risk of rapid disease progression is of great interest, as the application of early and more aggressive pharmaceutical intervention could have the potential to alter the natural history of IBD, and reduce complications and hospitalizations.

The effect of cross-linker (methylene-bis-acrylamide) (MBA) on the volume phase transition, mechanical properties and de-swelling of Poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide-co-methylene-bis-acrylamide) hydrogel (PNIPAAm/MBA hydrogel) was investigated. A new method, namely isothermal thermo-gravimetry was developed for monitoring de-swelling of PNIPAAm/MBA hydrogel. Monomer/ Cross-linker ratio of the initial monomer composition R = moleNIPAAm/moleMBA was introduced. It has been proven earlier that initial monomer composition is close to the copolymer composition;hence R values may be used to express cross-link density. Hydrogels from R10 to R150 were investigated. The results of DSC analysis revealed that the less the cross-linker ratio in the gel (from R10 to R150) the more sharp the temperature range of volume phase transition and the higher its enthalpy. Cross-link density, namely increasing cross-linker content in the copolymer (R from 150 to 10) does not significantly affect the temperature range of volume phase transition. It sets on at 33°C - 34°C, and ends between 35?C and 38?C. Cross-link density has significant effect on compression modulus. By decreasing the ratio of cross-linker (by increasing R from 10 to 150), the compression modulus increases, goes through a maximum, and then decreases. The highest compression modulus was measured for PNIPAAm/MBA hydrogel R20. Hydrogels with cross-linker content between R100 and 30 are strong enough and have their thermoresponsivity. Isothermal thermograms of de-swelling are of similar character for all the gels with different cross-linker content. During the initial stage of de-swelling for gels with higher cross-linker content (R10 - R15) the solute release is quicker than for gels R20 - 150 and the thermograms are drawn out. Carbon nitrides integrating macroheterocycles offer unique potential as hosts for stabilizing metal atoms due to their rich electronic structure. To date, only graphitic heptazine-based polymers have been ***, we demonstrate that palladium atoms can be effectively isolated on other carbon nitride scaffolds including linear melem oligomers and poly(triazine/heptazine imides). Increased metal uptake was linked to the larger cavity size and the presence of chloride ions in the polyimide structures. Changing the host structure leads to significant variation in the average oxidation state of the metal, which can be tuned by exchange of the ionic species as evidenced by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and supported by density functional theory. Evaluation in the semi-hydrogenation of 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol reveals an inverse correlation between the activity and the degree of oxidation of palladium, with oligomers exhibiting the highest activity. These findings provide new mechanistic insights into the influence of the carbon nitride structure on metal stabilization.

In order to study the karstological processes within the karst ecological system,the geohazards and degradation of karst landscapes on the karst areas of the Bakony mountains(Hungary),we investigated the abiotic elements of the environment,soil and cover deposits,erosion soil decay;the changes in the quantity and quality of karst waters:contamination at swallow holes,contamination of karst springs;and the biogenic factors:surface vegetation coverage by the corine land cover method,plant-ecological examinations,qualification of surface waters with the help of biological water *** recognized that the increasing human activities during the past few centuries have had significant impact on the investigated landscapes of karst areas because of their spatial *** the scope of our research we concluded that the landscape changes due to natural and human effects can vary strongly on the different karst *** differences can arise from the climatic and geomorphologic situation,the coverlayer's qualities,etc.,but primarily from the different utilization of the investigated karst areas(*** intensity,characteristics and territorial extension of utilization).On the spot investigation we detected traces of new and fast geomorphological processes(gully formation,landslides,collapses,new sinkhole development) and landforms(sinkholes,gullies,swallow holes),which are clear evidences of the effect of climatic changes.

The Role of Ultrasound in Intestinal Inflammatory Processes in Children and Adolescents

Purpose: To disseminate the current knowledge about the intestinal inflammatory processes in children and its approach by ultrasound (US) and provide necessary information to pediatricians for early diagnosis through this complementary method. Source of Data: The sources of data were selected by Medline, the international manuscripts, international medical journals more relevant in the last 20 years about Gray Scale and Color Doppler Ultrasound in the evaluation of inflammatory bowel disease in children and adolescents. Conclusions: Several authors have suggested that the ultrasound should be the first study in the diagnostic investigation process in suspected inflammatory bowel disease to determine the most affected region and monitor the therapy response. While colonoscopy still remains as the reference diagnostic method, the literature suggests that US can be an extremely useful tool in the context of the suspected diagnosis of a wide variety of intestinal inflammatory processes in children.

Cracking of a Used Lubricant Oil Using NiMo/MCM-41 and the Mixture of Ni/MCM-41 and H-MCM-41 Catalysts

Catalytic activities of NiMo/MCM-41 and the mixture of Ni/MCM-41 with H-MCM-41 in cracking used ULO （lubricant oil） have been studied. This work was started by synthesis of aluminosilicate （MCM-41） at ratio of Si/AI = 50, using CTAB （cetyltrimethylammonium bromide） as a template, and TMAOH （tetramethylammonium hydroxide） as co-surfactant, where a hydrothermal process at 100 ℃ was conducted for 12 h. Organic compounds were then burned out from the dry solid material by calcination at 540 ℃. Ni/MCM-41 and H-MCM-41 were produced by ion exchange method, followed by reduction and calcination treatments, respectively, while NiMo/MCM-41 was produced by impregnation method followed by calcination. Product of MCM-41 was characterized by XRD （X-ray Diffraction）, Fourier FTIR （transform infra red spectrophotometric）, TEM （transmission electron microscopic） and BET （brunauer-emmet-teller） methods. Performance of the catalytic activities were shown by both of NiMo/MCM-41 and the mixture of 1：1 of H-MCM-41 and Ni/MCM-41 were mixed with the ULO at ratio of 1：200 （w/v） in a stainless steel reactor, then they were heated at 420 ℃. The products of cracking were analyzed using GC-MS （gas chromatography-mass spectrometry）. Results of the work showed that the MCM-41 was successfully synthesized. Using mixture of Ni/MCM-41 and H-MCM-41 catalysts, 56.6% of ULO could be converted to OLP （organic liquid product）. However, using NiMo/MCM-41 catalyst only 28.5% OLP could be produced. GC-MS analyses showed that cracking of the ULO at 420 ~C using NiMo/MCM-41 catalyst gave conversion 4.3% and 8.8% to gasoline like and diesel like fractions, respectively, while using mixture of Ni/MCM-41 and H-MCM-41 catalysts, conversion of 12.2% and 14.8% respectively to gasoline like and diesel like fractions were obtained.

This article reports that extremely thin nanobelts(thickness~10 nm)exhibit pseudocapacitive(PC)charge storage in the asymmetric supercapacitor(ASC)configuration,while show battery-type charge storage in their single *** types of nanobelts,***-Co_(3)O_(4) hybrid and spinal-type NiCo_(2)O_(4),developed by electrospinning technique are used in this *** charge storage behaviour of the nanobelts is benchmarked against their binary metal oxide nanowires,i.e.,NiO and Co_(3)O_(4),as well as a hybrid of similar chemistry,CuO-Co_(3)O_(4).The nanobelts have thickness of~10 nm and width~200 nm,whereas the nanowires have diameter of~100 *** differences in charge storage behaviours are observed in NiO-Co_(3)O_(4) hybrid nanobelts based ASCs compared to those fabricated using the other materials-the former showed capacitive behav-iour whereas the others revealed battery-type discharge *** of pseudocapacitance in nanobelts based ASCs is shown to arise from their nanobelts morphology with thickness less than typical electron diffusion lengths(~20 nm).Among all the five type of devices fabricated,the NiO-Co_(3)O_(4) hybrid ASCs exhibited the highest specific energy,specific power and cycling stability.
