In this paper we suggest a simple mathematical procedure to derive the classical probability density of quantum systems via Bohr’s correspondence principle. Using fourier expansions for the classical and quantum distributions, we assume that the fourier coefficients coincide for the case of large quantum number. We illustrate the procedure by analyzing the classical limit for the quantum harmonic oscillator and the particle in a box, although the method is quite general. We find, in an analytical fashion, the classical distribution arising from the quantum one as the zeroth order term in an expansion in powers of Planck’s constant. We interpret the correction terms as residual quantum effects at the microscopic-macroscopic boundary.

The pygmy marmoset,the smallest of the anthropoid primates,has a broad distribution in Western *** studies using molecular and morphological data have identified two distinct species separated by the napo and Solimoes-Amazonas ***,reconciling this new biological evidence with current taxonomy,i.e.,two subspecies,cebuella pygmaea pygmaea(Spix,1823)and cebuella pygmaea niveiventris(Lönnberg,1940),was problematic given the uncertainty as to whether Spix’s pygmy marmoset(cebuella pygmaea pygmaea)was collected north or south of the napo and Solimoes-Amazonas rivers,making it unclear to which of the two newly revealed species the name pygmaea would ***,we present the first molecular data from Spix’s type specimen of cebuella pygmaea,as well as novel mitochondrial genomes from modern pygmy marmosets sampled near the type locality(Tabatinga)on both sides of the *** these data,we can confirm the correct names of the two species identified,i.e.,*** for animals north of the napo and Solimoes-Amazonas rivers and *** for animals south of these two *** analyses of the novel genetic data placed into the context of cytochrome b gene sequences from across the range of pygmy marmosets further led us to reevaluate the geographical distribution for the two cebuella *** dated the split of these two species to 2.54 million years *** discuss additional,more recent,subdivisions within each lineage,as well as potential contact zones between the two species in the headwaters of these rivers.

Loss of follow-up or reinfections hinder the expectations of hepatitis c eradicationdespite the existence of highly effective treatments. Moreover, the elimination ofthe infection does not imply the reversion of those chronic alterations derivedfrom the previous infection by hepatitis c virus (HcV). This review analyzes therisk factors associated with loss to follow-up in diagnosis or treatment, and thepossibility of reinfection. Likewise, it assesses the residual alterations induced bychronic HcV infection considering the liver alterations (inflammation, fibrosis,risk of decompensation, hepatocellular carcinoma, liver transplantation) and, onthe other hand, the comorbidities and extrahepatic manifestations (cryoglobulinemia,non-Hodgkin lymphoma, peripheral insulin resistance, and lipid, boneand cognitive alterations). Peculiarities present in subjects coinfected with humanimmunodeficiency virus are analyzed in each section.

fitting c2-continuous or superior surfaces to a set S of points sampled on a 2-manifold is central to reverse engineering, computer aided geometric modeling, entertaining, modeling of art heritage, etc. This article addresses the fitting of analytic (ellipsoid, cones, cylinders) surfaces in general position in . currently, the state of the art presents limitations in 1) automatically finding an initial guess for the analytic surface f sought, and 2) economically estimating the geometric distance between a point of S and the analytic surface f. These issues are central in estimating an analytic surface which minimizes its accumulated distances to the point set. In response to this situation, this article presents and tests novel user-independent strategies for addressing aspects 1) and 2) above, for cylinders, cones and ellipsoids. A conjecture for the calculation of the distance point-ellipsoid is also proposed. Our strategies produce good initial guesses for f and fast fitting error estimation for f, leading to an agile and robust optimization algorithm. Ongoing work addresses the fitting of free-form parametric surfaces to S.

Performing accurate and automated semantic segmentation of vegetation is a first algorithmic step towards more complex models that can extract accurate biological information on crop health,weed presence and phenological state,among ***,models based on normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),near infrared channel(NIR)or RGB have been a good indicator of vegetation ***,these methods are not suitable for accurately segmenting vegetation showing damage,which precludes their use for downstream phenotyping *** this paper,we propose a comprehensive method for robust vegetation segmentation in RGB images that can cope with damaged *** method consists of a first regression convolutional neural network to estimate a virtual NIR channel from an RGB ***,we compute two newly proposed vegetation indices from this estimated virtual NIR:the infrared-dark channel subtraction(IDcS)and infrared-dark channel ratio(IDcR)***,both the RGB image and the estimated indices are fed into a semantic segmentation deep convolutional neural network to train a model to segment vegetation regardless of damage or *** model was tested on 84 plots containing thirteen vegetation species showing different degrees of damage and acquired over 28 *** results show that the best segmentation is obtained when the input image is augmented with the proposed virtual NIR channel(f1=0:94)and with the proposed IDcR and IDcS vegetation indices(f1=0:95)derived from the estimated NIR channel,while the use of only the image or RGB indices lead to inferior performance(RGB(f1=0:90)NIR(f1=0:82)or NDVI(f1=0:89)channel).The proposed method provides an end-to-end land cover map segmentation method directly from simple RGB images and has been successfully validated in real field conditions.

Phenothiazine vs 5HT3 Antagonist Prophylactic Regimens to Prevent Post‐Anesthesia care Unit Rescue Antiemetic: An Observational Study

Purpose: Our practitioners are asked to consider a patient’s postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) risk profile when developing their prophylactic antiemetic strategy. There is wide variation in employed strategies, and we have yet to determine the most effective PONV prophylactic regimen. The objective of this study is to compare prophylactic antiemetic regimens containing: phenothiazines to 5HT3 antagonists for effectiveness at reducing the incidence of Post‐Anesthesia care Unit (PAcU) rescue antiemetic administration. Methods: This is an observational study of 4392 nonsmoking, women who underwent general anesthesia for breast surgery from 1/1/2009 through 6/30/2012. Previous history of PONV or motion sickness (HxPONV/MS) and the use of PAcU opioids were recorded. Prophylactic antiemetic therapy was left to the discretion of the anesthesia care team. We compared phenothiazines and 5HT3 antagonists alone and with a glucocorticoid to determine the most effective treatment regimen in our practice for the prevention of the administration of PAcU rescue antiemetics. Results: Patients who received a phenothiazine regimen compared to a 5HT3 antagonist regimen were less likely to have an antiemetic administered in the PAcU (p = 0.0100) and this significant difference in rates holds in a logistic regression model adjusted for HxPONV/MS and PAcU Opioid use (p = 0.0103). conclusions: based on our findings our clinicians are encouraged to administer a combination of a phenothiazine and a glucocorticoid in female, nonsmoking surgical breast patients for the prevention of PAcU rescue antiemetic administration.

Efficient technologies for gene silencing would be important to carry out functional analysis with P. brasiliensis genes, as well as for a better understanding of the biology and pathogenesis of this pathogenic fungus. Due to the fact that homologous recombination is unusual in P. brasiliensis, the development of knockout isolates is currently non-feasible. The goal of this work was to assess Rna interference (Rnai) technology as an alternative tool for gene silencing previously employed successfully in H. capsulatum. for this purpose, we built different inverted repeat transgenic hairpin constructs to down-regulate the PbGP43 and PbP27 genes known to codify for two fungal immunogenic proteins that elicit a strong immune response during experimental paracoccidioidomycosis. Using the Rnai strategy, a reduction in the mRna levels of the PbGP43 and PbP27 genes was observed during the first 20 days after selection;however, in the transformed yeast cells, the gene silencing status proved non-stable through the assay. We demonstrated that electrotransformation was suitable to transform P. brasiliensis yeast cells and integrate the hairpin constructions;nonetheless, gene silencing was not stable along the experimental time. A detailed analysis of the underlying molecular Rnai machinery may provide further insights into the intracellular mechanism that governs this reverse genetic tool.

cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase （cAD） is a key enzyme involved in the last step of monolignol biosynthesis. The effect of cAD down-regulation on lignin production was investigated through a transgenic approach in maize. Trans- genic cAD-Rnai plants show a different degree of enzymatic reduction depending on the analyzed tissue and show alter- ations in cell wall composition. cell walls of cAD-Rnai stems contain a lignin polymer with a slight reduction in the S-to-G ratio without affecting the total lignin content. In addition, these cell walls accumulate higher levels of cellulose and ara- binoxylans. In contrast, cell walls of cAD-Rnai midribs present a reduction in the total lignin content and of cell wall polysaccharides. In vitro degradability assays showed that, although to a different extent, the changes induced by the repression of cAD activity produced midribs and stems more degradable than wild-type plants. cAD-Rnai plants grown in the field presented a wild-type phenotype and produced higher amounts of dry biomass. cellulosic bioethanol assays revealed that cAD-Rnai biomass produced higher levels of ethanol compared to wild-type, making cAD a good target to improve both the nutritional and energetic values of maize lignocellulosic biomass.
