Petrography and stable isotopic variations in Dalmiapuram Formation of Cauvery Basin, South India: implication on OAE1d

Petrography, carbon and oxygen isotopic study was carried out to interpret isotopic variations on the predominant carbonate sequence of the Dalmiapuram Formation of the Cauvery Basin, South India. The common petrographic types identified in the Dalmiapuram Formation range from wackestone to boundstone. The gray shale and limestone members show large variations in d13 C and d18 O values(Gray shale member: +1.44 to +2.40 %VPDB,-3.05 to-5.92 % VPDB, respectively; Limestone member:-6.07 to +2.93 % VPDB;-7.08 to-0.39 %VPDB; respectively). In the present study, the carbon and oxygen values are not correlated, which supports the fact that these limestones retain their primary isotopic signatures. In carbon isotope curve, one negative shift is identified in the gray shale member and a positive isotopic excursion is detected in the coral algal limestone(CAL).The observed positive isotopic excursion in the lower part of the CAL correlates with OAE1 d and suggests the global nature of the late Albian OAE1 d in the Cauvery Basin.

土壤水力学性质和功能的变化是评价长期施肥是否维持土壤可持续健康发展的重要方面。该研究通过采取"国家黄土肥力与肥料效益监测基地"的表层原状土壤,分析测定了撂荒(LH)、休闲(XX)、不施肥(CK)、单施氮肥(n)、氮磷钾肥(nPK)和有机肥与氮磷钾肥配施(MnPK)6个处理的土壤水分特征曲线、饱和导水率和紧实度等指标,评价了长期定位施肥对土壤基本物理性质和水力学性质的影响。结果表明:1)与CK、n和nPK处理相比,MnPK处理显著提高了土壤有机碳、饱和导水率和孔隙度,而降低了土壤容重和紧实度(Pn≈nPKnPKnPK处理较CK、n和nPK处理持水能力分别提高2.57%、3.33%和7.34%;V-G模型拟合结果表明残余含水量(θ_r)、饱和含水量(θ_s)和进气值倒数(a)都存在一定程度的差异,θ_r在MnPK处理最大,XX最小;θ_s在n处理最大,MnPK次之,CK最小。进气值(1/a)在XX处理最大,LH最小。3)当量孔隙的分布主要在>9μm大孔隙范围内,其次是nPK有助于改善土壤结构,提高土壤持水性,降低土壤容重和紧实度,有助于作物生长和高产,是关中地区较为适宜的施肥措施。

Sedimentary Organic Matter Characterization on a Tropical Continental Shelf in northeastern Brazil

In continental shelf areas works where the focus is Geochemistry are widely relevant, due to the vast complexity and uses of these relief features (social, environmental and economic). On the Brazilian northeast tropical shelves, with emphasis on the Pernambuco Continental Shelf (PCS), the published studies are limited and have aimed at portions closer to the coastline. The objective of the present work is the description of the characteristics and origin of sedimentary organic matter (SOM) in the inner and middle Pernambuco shelf, defining and classifying the local geochemical sedimentary facies. The sampling stations (136) were collected in the study area, and the grain-size, contents of total organic matter (TOM), calcium carbonate (CaCO3) were analyzed. The samples were processed in an elemental analyzer coupled with a mass spectrometer after the elimination of calcium carbonate. The obtained data were the grain-size, TOM, CaCO3, elemental (C, N) and the stable isotopic ratios of δ13C e δ15N of SOM. Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a zoonotic pathogen capable of causing severe respiratory disease in humans. Although dromedary camels are considered as a major reservoir host, the MERS-CoV infection dynamics in camels are not fully understood. Through surveillance in Pakistan, nasal (n = 776) and serum (n = 1050)samples were collected from camels between november 2015 and February 2018. Samples were collected from animal markets, free-roaming herds and abattoirs. An in-house ELISA was developed to detect IgG against MERS-CoV. A total of 794 camels were found seropositive for MERS-CoV. Prevalence increased with the age and the highest seroprevalence was recorded in camels aged [ 10 years (81.37%) followed by those aged 3.1–10 years (78.65%) and B 3 years (58.19%).Higher prevalence was observed in female (78.13%) as compared to male (70.70%). Of the camel nasal swabs, 22 were found to be positive by RT-qPCR though with high Ct values. Moreover, 2,409 human serum samples were also collected from four provinces of Pakistan during 2016–2017. Among the sampled population, 840 humans were camel *** we found a high rate of MERS-CoV antibody positive dromedaries (75.62%) in Pakistan, no neutralizing antibodies were detected in humans with and without contact to camels.
