Hydroxyapatite(HA)and its composites with inorganic additives,dopants,and polymers is a rapidly developing branch in the materials *** particular,carbon allotropes are widely used in these composites being widely applied for medical *** a gap of insufficient generalization of recent achievements in the field of the HA/Carbon composites,in this review we present the state of the art of the field of HA composites and hybrids with classic carbon allotropes and *** composites are known for carbon nanotubes,nanofibers,graphene and its oxidized forms,as well as,in a lesser grade,for graphite,fullerenes,nanodiamonds,carbon nanofoams,*** composites can be fabricated by a variety of classic and less-common methods,such as co-precipitation(with or without ultrasonic treatment),CVD,hot isostatic pressing,hydrothermal,spark plasma sintering,biomimetic mineralization,thermal and plasma spray,electrochemical and electrophoretic deposition,self-assembling,3D printing,electrospinning,and lyophilisation,among *** of various synthesis techniques can be also carried out for composite *** or synthetic HA can be used as it is for further interaction with carbon allotropes or it can be first prepared and then reacted with carbon counterpart;similarly,carbon allotropes can be introduced into the interaction with HA directly or they can be first synthesized,in particular from *** biocompatible composites can be produced in the form of coatings,powders,and scaffolds and can additionally contain quantitative amounts of third phases,frequently natural or synthetic *** these composites,especially with O-containing functionalizing groups,HA disadvantages could be considerably decreased with simultaneous enhancement of mechanical properties,becoming similar to human bone,chemical stability and biocompatibility,as well as possessing antibacterial ***→g reduction and higher HA decoration were obs

Combustion characteristics of low-quality lignite for different bed material sphericities in a circulating fluidized bed boiler:A numerical study

This study delves into the combustion behavior of various lignite types within a circulating fluidized bed boiler(CFBB),with a primary focus on the impact of different bed material sphericity ratios(0.5,0.7,and 0.9).Utilizing bed material with a sphericity ratio of 0.9 sourced from theÇan power plant and verified through experimentation,the research reveals several key ***,furnace temperatures tended to rise with higher sphericity ratios,albeit with variations between lignite types,particularly highlighting the complexity of this relationship in the case of gLi-Tunçbilek *** levels in the combustion chamber remained consistent across different sphericity ratios,indicating minimal influence on pressure *** combustion efficiency,especially at the bottom of the boiler,was observed at lower sphericity levels(0.5 and 0.7)forÇan lignite,as reflected in CO_(2) mole *** NO_(x) emissions generally decreased with lower sphericity,the sensitivity to sphericity varied by lignite type,with ilgın lignite showcasing low NO_(x) but high SO_(2) emissions,underscoring the intricate interplay between lignite properties,sphericity,and ***,this study advances our understanding of CFBB combustion dynamics,offering insights valuable for optimizing performance and emissions control,particularly in lignite-based power.

BACKgROUND The intricate relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2Dm)and diabetic nephropathy(DN)presents a challenge in understanding the significance of various biomarkers in *** To elucidate the roles and diagnostic values ofα2-macroglobulin(α2-mg),podocalyxin(PCX),α-L-fucosidase(AFU),retinol-binding protein-4(RBP-4),and cystatin C(CysC)in *** From December 2018 to December 2020,203 T2Dm patients were enrolled in the *** these,115 were diagnosed with DN(115 patients),while the remaining 88 patients were classified as *** urinary levels ofα2-mg,PCX,and AFU and the serum concentrations RBP-4 and CysC were measured in conjunction with other relevant clinical indicators to evaluate their potential correlations and diagnostic *** After adjustments for age and gender,significant positive correlations were observed between the biomarkers CysC,RBP-4,α2-mg/urinary creatinine(UCr),PCX/UCr,and AFU/UCr,and clinical indicators such as urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio(UACR),serum creatinine,urea,24-h total urine protein,and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR).Conversely,these biomarkers exhibited negative correlations with the estimated glomerular filtration rate(Peceiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis further demonstrated the diagnostic performance of these biomarkers,with UACR showcasing the highest area under the ROC curve(AUC^(ROC))at *** This study underscores the diagnostic significance ofα2-mg,PCX,and AFU in the development of *** biomarkers RBP-4,CysC,PCX,AFU,andα2-mg provide promising diagnostic insights,while UACR is the most potent diagnostic biomarker in assessing DN.

Background in beef cattle, more than 50% of the energy input to produce a unit of beef is consumed by the female that produced the calf. Development of genomic tools to identify females with high genetic merit for reproductive function could increase the profitability and sustainability of beef *** genome-wide association studies(gWAS) were performed using a single-step genomic best linear unbiased prediction approach on pregnancy outcome traits from a population of Angus–Brahman crossbred heifers. Furthermore, a validation gWAS was performed using data from another farm. Heifers were genotyped with the Bovine ggP F250 array that contains 221,077 SNPs. in the discovery population, heifers were bred in winter breeding seasons involving a single round of timed artificial insemination(Ai) followed by natural mating for 3 months. Two phenotypes were analyzed: pregnancy outcome to first-service Ai(PAi;n = 1,481) and pregnancy status at the end of the breeding season(PeBS;n = 1,725). The heritability was estimated as 0.149 and 0.122 for PAi and PeBS, respectively. in the PAi model, one quantitative trait locus(QTL), located between 52.3 and 52.5 mb on BTA7, explained about 3% of the genetic variation, in a region containing a cluster of γ-protocadherin genes and SLC25A2. Other QTLs explaining between 0.5% and 1% of the genetic variation were found on BTA12 and 25. in the PeBS model, a large QTL on BTA7 was synonymous with the QTL for PAi, with minor QTLs located on BTA5, 9, 10, 11, 19, and 20. The validation population for pregnancy status at the end of the breeding season were Angus–Brahman crossbred heifers bred by natural mating. in concordance with the discovery population, the large QTL on BTA7 and QTLs on BTA10 and 12 were *** in summary, QTLs and candidate SNPs identified were associated with pregnancy outcomes in beef heifers, including a large QTL associated with a group of protocadherin genes. The Antarctic Paleogene marine fossil record has been the key to reconstructing the evolution of the Weddellian Sea and final dismemberment of Southern *** this context,eocene marine vertebrates from Seymour(marambio)island have provided valuable *** present the first eocene record of marine reptiles from the southern Atlantic Coast of South *** corresponds to several postcranial turtle remains represented by a proximal end of the right humerus,three caudal and one thoracic vertebrae,a fragment of the left pubis,and ten ossicles of the dorsal carapace,coming from the Leticia Formation(late-mid eocene)at Cabo Tiburones,Tierra del Fuego,*** materials show severalfeatures such as the size and general morphology of the humerus and vertebrae,and the presence of relatively small,irregular,smooth,and unkeeled ossicles,which allow us to assign them to Dermochelyidae *** are a cosmopolitan group ofcryptodiran turtles,registered from the late Cretaceous up to the recent,with some physiological-biological peculiarities(e.g.,endothermy and an exclusive jellyfish-based diet)and characterized by the presence of an osseous carapace formed by *** new finding from the Leticia Formation is an addition to the scarce and extremely fragmentary record of eocene dermochelyids from the southern seas like those from the la meseta and Submeseta formations(Antarctica)and the Waihao and Burnside formations(New Zealand).This new information allows us to discuss the presence of these turtles in such high latitudes in the past and its implication in the evolution of the Weddellian fauna.

The BeTA application-specific integrated circuit(ASiC)is a fully programmable chip designed to amplify,shape and digitize the signal of up to 64 Silicon photomultiplier(SiPm)channels,with a power consumption of approximately~1 mW/*** to its dual-path gain,the BeTA chip is capable of resolving single photoelectrons(phes)with a signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)>5 while simultaneously achieving a dynamic range of~4000 ***,BeTA can provide a cost-effective solution for the readout of SiPms in space missions and other applications with a maximum rate below 10 *** this study,we describe the key characteristics of the BeTA ASiC and present an evaluation of the performance of its 16-channel version,which is implemented using 130 nm *** ASiC also contains two discriminators that can provide trigger signals with a time jitter down to 400 ps FWHm for 10 *** linearity error of the charge gain measurement was less than 2%for a dynamic range as large as 15 bits.
