Popula.ion growth and expanding urba.iza.ion have caused persistent shortages and conta.ina.ion of groundwater resources in Ma.i,*** increase in groundwater sa.inity makes it more difficult for residents to obtain drinking water,it is necessary to cla.ify the causes and control factors of groundwater minera.iza.ion in Gao region,northern *** on the analysis of the hydrochemical composition of groundwater in 24 boreholes,Piper and Sch?eller diagrams,principal component analysis(PCA)and hierarchical cluster analysis(HCA)are used to carry out multiva.iate sta.istical analysis on the main *** results show that the groundwater samples are weakly alka.ine,with pH values ranging from 5.83 to 8.40,and the average values of boreholes are 7.50,*** average electrical conductivity(EC)value is 354.4(μS/cm),and the extreme value is between 124.0 and 1247(μS/cm).Water is usually minera.ized and presents nine types of water *** three principal components explain 84.42%of the total va.iance for 13 *** factor F1(58.85%),the factor F2(16.88%)and the factor F3(8.69%)present for the majority of the total data *** addition,multiva.iate sta.istical analysis confirmed the genetic rela.ionship among aquifers and identified three main *** related to groundwater minera.iza.ion(F1),clustering related to oxide reduction and iron enrichment(F2),and clustering of groundwater pollution caused by nitrate and magnesium(F3).We found that agriculture,weathering activities and dissolution of geological materials promote the minera.iza.ion of *** qua.ity in the Gao region is becoming less and less potable because of increa.ing sa.inity.

Determina.ion of Biotin in Pharmaceutical Formula.ions by Potassium Permanganate-luminol-CdTe Nanoparticles Chemiluminescence System

A sensitive flow-injection chemiluminescence method was developed for the determina.ion of biotin in the pharmaceutical *** affinity between a.idin and biotin was used to adsorb biotin on the polystyrene,with subsequent quantifica.ion of biotin based on its a.ility to enhance the chemiluminescence（CL） signal generated by the redox reaction of potassium permanganate-luminol-CdTe nanoparticles CL *** investiga.ions prove that apart from 3-a.inophthalate,the CdTe quantum dots（QDs） play both catalytic and emitter *** optimum conditions,the linear range for the determina.ion of biotin was 0.01―25 ng/mL with a detection limit of 7.3×10-3 ng/mL（S/N=3）.The rela.ive standard devia.ion of 5 ng/L biotin was 2.06%（n=7）.The proposed method was used to determine the biotin concentra.ion in the pharmaceutical formula.ions and the recovery was between 96.4% and 104%.The proposed method is simple,convenient,ra.id and sensitive.

Effect of leachate recycle and inocula.ion on microbial characteristics of municipal refuse in landfill bioreactors

Popula.ion development of key groups of anaerobic and aerobic bacteria.involved in municipal refuse decomposition under laboratory landfill bioreactors with and without leachate recycle and inocula.ion was measured since modeling municipal refuse was landfilled in bioreactors for about 210 days. Hydrolytic fermenta.ive bacteria (HFB), hydrogen-producing acetogenic bacteria (HPAB), methane-producing bacteria (MPB), sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), anaerobic and aerobic cellulolytic bacteria and denitrabacteria were enumerated by the most probable number technique. The results showed that the dominant microorga.ism groups were the methanogenic bacteria.including hydrolytic fermenta.ive, hydrogen-producing acetogenic and methane-producing bacteria. They were present in fresh refuse but at low values and positively affected by leachate recycle and refuse inocula.ion. The amounts of HFB or HPAB in digesters D4 and D5 operated with inocula.ion and leachate recycle reached their ma.imum values of 1010 - 1012 cells/g dry refuse for HFB or 105 - 106 cells/g dry refuse for HPAB on day 60, in digester D3 operated with leachate recycle on day 120 for HFB (109 cells/g dry refuse) or on day 90 for HPAB (105 cells/g dry refuse), and in digesters D1 and D2 on day 210 for HFB (109 cells/g dry refuse) or on day 90 for HPAB (104 - 106 cells/g dry refuse). The popula.ion of methane-producing bacteria.in digesters D4 and D5 sharply increased on days 60 and 90 respectively, however in digesters D1, D2 and D3 on day 120. Leachate recycle and inocula.ion changed the cellulolytic microorga.isms composition of refuse ecosystem, the higher amounts of anaerobic cellulolytic bacteria were measured in digesters D4 and D5 (107 cells/g dry refuse), followed by digesters D3 (106 cells/g dry refuse), D2 or D1 (104 cells/g dry refuse). The presence of missing data.in a database is a phenomenon that every researcher is liable to meet during their work. Although the bias which can be generated by an inadequate treatment of non-response is known for a long time [27], the knowledge on the effectiveness of va.ious methods used in the treatment of missing values is not yet fully explored. This study aims to apply the techniques used in the treatment of missing values in the calcula.ion of the morbidity and morta.ity linked to Mala.ia.in Koulikoro in Ma.i during the period from April to June 2005. The main problem that missing data poses is that it is impossible not to take missing values into considera.ion during the applica.ion of a sta.istical analysis method. The majority of these methods had been developed to deal with a matrix of incomplete data. in this document the sta.istical theories on incomplete data sets are presented and then applied on the data of Koulikoro from Ma.ian Na.ional Mala.ia Control Program.

Numerical investiga.ion of thermal performance of heat loss of parabolic trough receiver

Based on the analysis of computa.ion methods and heat transfer processes of the parabolic trough receiver running in steady state, a two-dimensional empirical model was developed to investigate the thermal performance of heat loss of parabolic trough receivers under steady state equilibrium. A numerical simula.ion was conducted for the parabolic trough receiver involved in a literature. Compa.isons between numerical and experimental results show that the empirical model is accurate enough and can be used to investigate the thermal performance of heat loss of parabolic trough receivers. The thermal performance of heat loss of UVAC3 and the new-genera.ion UVAC2008 was investigated respectively. The simula.ion results show that selective coa.ings and annular pressure influence the thermal performance of heat loss of parabolic trough receivers greatly, wind velocity influences the thermal performance of thermal loss of parabolic trough receivers only a little in contrast with the emittance of selective coa.ings and air pressure in annular space. And the thermal performance of thermal loss of the new-genera.ion parabolic trough receiver has been improved in a large amount.

Vegeta.ion types and climate conditions reflected by the modern phytolith assemblages in the subalpine Dalaoling Forest Reserve, central China

This research describes modern phytolith records and distributions from subalpine surface soils in the Dalaoling Forest Reserve, and reveals its implica.ions for local climate conditions with respect to the altitude gra.ient. Well-preserved phytolith morpho-types, assem- blages, and clima.ic indices were used to study the rela.ionship between local vegeta.ion and climate condi- tions. The phytolith classifica.ion system is mainly based on the characteristics of detailed morpho-types described for anatomical terms, which are divided into seven groups： long cells, short cells, bulliform cells, hair cells, pterido- phyte type, broad-leaved type, and gymnosperm type. Phytoliths origina.ing from the Poaceae are composed of Pooideae （rondel and trapeziform）, Pa.icoideae （bilobate, cross, and polylobate）, Chloridoideae （short/square sad- dle）, and Bambusoideae （oblong concave saddle）. Based on the altitudinal distribution of the phytolith assemblages and the indices of a.idity （iph）, climate （ic）, and tree cover density （D/P）, five phytolith assemblage zones have revealed the five types of clima.ic conditions ranging from 1,169 m to 2,005 m in turn： warm-wet, warm-xeric to warm-mesic, warm- xeric to cool-mesic, cool-xeric, and cool-mesic to cool-xeric. The Bambusoideae, Pa.icoideae, and Chloridoideae are the dominant vegeta.ion at the lower-middle of the mountains, while Pooideae is mainly distributed in the higher mountains. The close rela.ionship between phytolith assembleages and changes of altitude gra.ient suggest that vegeta.ion distribution patterns and plant ecology in the Dalaoling mountains are controlled by temperature and humidity conditions. Our results highlight the importance ofphytolith records as reliable ecoclima.ic indicators for vegeta.ion ecology in subtropical regions.

Preliminary studies of acute and sub-chronic toxicity of the aqueous extract of Guibourtia tessmannii(Harms) *** stem barks (Caesalpiniaceae) in mice and rats

Objective: To investigate the toxicity of aqueous extract of Guibourtia tessmannii(Harms) J. Leonard(G. tessmannii) and evaluate its ***: NMRi mice were used to determine the acute toxicity of G. *** concentra.ions of the plant extracts were administered intraperitoneally or by force-feeding. General beha.ior and death were monitored and recorded daily for 7 *** order to determine the sub-acute toxicity of the extract, several doses were administered by oral gavage daily for 28 days in adult Wistar rats. Different parameters were assessed including body weight, food and water intake, biochemical parameters and several vital organ ***: LD50 of 328.78 mg/kg was obtained by i.p. route and more than 5 000 mg/kg was obtained in acute toxicity by oral route. in sub-acute toxicity, no significant altera.ion was observed in body weight or vital organs, food and water intake, and biochemical ***: The results showed that the aqueous extract of G. tessmannii has low toxicity intraperitoneally and no sub-acute toxicity via oral intake.

Polycrystalline Silicon Gettered by Porous Silicon and Heavy Phosphorous Diffusion

The biggest barrier for photovoltaic (PV) utiliza.ion is its high cost, so the key for scale PV utiliza-tion is to further decrease the cost of solar cells. One way to improve the efficiency, and therefore lower the cost, is to increase the minority carrier lifetime by controlling the material defects. The main defects in grain bounda.ies of polycrystalline silicon gettered by porous silicon and heavy phosphorous diffusion have been studied. The porous silicon was formed on the two surfaces of wafers by chemical etching. Phosphorous was then diffused into the wafers at high temperature (900℃). After the porous silicon and diffusion layers were removed, the minority carrier lifetime was measured by photo-conductor decay. The results show that the lifetime抯 minority carriers are increased greatly after such treatment.
