This report describes the use of ethnolic extract of Fagopyrum esculentum leaves for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles. UV-visible spectroscopy analysis indicated the successful formation of gold nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, high resolution TEM （HRTEM） and were found to be spherical, hexagonal and triangular in shape with an average size of 8.3 nm. The crystalline nature of the gold nanoparticles was confirmed from *** diffraction （XRD） and selected-area electron diffraction （SAED） patterns. Fourier transform infrared （FT-IR） and *** X-ray analysis （EDX） suggested the presence of organic biomolecules on the surface of the gold nanoparticles. Cytotoxicity tests against human HeLa, MCF-7 and IMR-32 cancer cell lines revealed that the gold nanoparticles were non-toxic and thus have potential for use in various biomedical applications.

In the Eliashberg integral equations for d-wave superconductivity, two different functions （α2F）n（ω, θ） and （α2F）p,d（ω） determine, respectively, the ＂normal＂ self-energy and the ＂pairing＂ self-energy, w is the frequency of fluctuations scattering the fermions whose momentum is near the Fermi-surface and makes an angle θ to a chosen axis. We present a quantitative analysis of the high-resolution laser based Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy （ARPES） data on a slightly under doped cuprate compound Bi2212 and use the Eliashberg equations to deduce the w and dependence of （α2F）n（ω, θ） for T just above Tc and below Tc. Besides its detailed w dependence, we find the remarkable result that this function is nearly independent of θ between the （π; π）-direction and 25 degrees from it, except for the dependence of the cut-off energy on 8. Assuming that the same fluctuations determine both the normal and the pairing self-energy, we ask what theories give the function （α2F）p,d（ω） required for the d-wave pairing instability at high temperatures as well as the deduced （α2F）n（θ, w）. We show that the deduced （α2F）n（θ, w） can only be obtained from antiferromagnetic （AFM） fluctuations if their correlation length is smaller than a lattice constant. Using （α2F）p,d（W） consistent with such a correlation length and the symmetry of matrix-elements scatter- ing fermions by AFM fluctuations, we calculate Tc and show that AFM fluctuations are excluded as the pairing mechanism for d-wave superconductivity in cuprates. We also consider the quantumcritical fluctuations derived microscopically as the fluctuations of the observed loop-current order discovered in the under-doped cuprates, and which lead to the marginal Fermi-liquid properties in the normal state. We show that their frequency dependence and the momentum dependence of their matrix-elements to scatter fermions are consistent with the θ and w dependence of the deduced （α2F）n（ω, θ）. Mineralogy and carbothermal reduction behaviour of vanadium-bearing titaniferous magnetite ore in Eastern India

Vanadium-beaxing titaniferous magnetite bands hosted by Precambrian gabbro-norite-anorthositic rocks or their metamorphic equivalents were discovered in some parts of Eastern Indian Shield, containing 48%-49% Fe （total）, 10%-25% TiO2, and 0.3%-2.20% V2O5 by mass. Mineralogical and petrological study, composition, and characterization of the vanadium-bearing titaniferous magnetite ore were carried out by scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray （SEM-EDX）, wave length X-ray florescence （WDXRF）, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy （ICP-AES）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, etc. Chemical beneficiation for valuable metals, such as Fe, Ti, andV, was performed by reduction roasting. The direct and indirect reduction were investigated by mixing the lump ore with solid activated charcoal in a closed reactor and purging the reducing gas mixture in standard reducibility index apparatus at different temperatures and time intervals. The reduction roasting parameters were optimized. Finally, the reduced samples were crushed and upgraded by magnetic separation. The results show that, the maximum mass fractions of magnetic and nonmagnetic parts achieved axe 69.36% and 30.64%, respectively, which contain 10.6% TiO2 and 0.84% V205 in the magnetic part and 36.5% TiO2 and 0.22% V205 in the nonmagnetic part.

Thirty-six polyurethane foam disk passive air samplers （PUF-PAS） were deployed over a year during January to December, 2009 at three locations, i.e., Imphal （urban site）, Thoubal （rural site） and Waithou （alpine site） of Manipur, to assess the seasonal local atmospheric emission of selected organochlorine pesticides （OCPs）. The average concentration of HCHs monitored at mountain site during hot season （Mar, Apr, and May） and rainy seasons （Jun, Jul, Aug, and Sep） were 403 and 349 pg/m3, respectively. DDTs had a high concentration with 384 pg/m3 at rural site and 379 pg/m3 at urban site during hot seasons. Endosulfans and chlordane were found high in concentration during hot seasons （260 pg/m3） and low during retreating monsoon seasons （44 pg/m3） at rural site. Most of the OCPs concentrations were high during cultivation period. The OCP concentrations of rainy season were highly correlated （p 〈 0.01） with OCPs of hot seasons. Further, positive correlation （p 〈 0.05） was also obtained between cold seasons and retreating monsoon. Principal component analysis showed a significant correlation among the four seasons and distribution pattern of OCPs in air. Back trajectory analysis by using HYPSLIT model showed a long range air transport of OCPs to the present study area. Present OCP levels at Manipur is an outcome of both local emission and also movement of air mass by long range atmospheric transport.

Electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is one of the crucial reactions for converting renewable electricity into chemical fuel in the form of *** date,there is still a challenge in designing ideal cost-effective OER catalysts with excellent activity and robust *** hybridization of transition metal oxides and carbonaceous materials is one of the most effective and promising strategies to develop high-performance ***,this work synthesized hybrids of NiFe_2 O_4 spinel materials with two-dimensional(2D)graphene oxide and one-dimensional(1 D)carbon nanotubes using a facile solvothermal *** activities of NiFe_(2)O_(4) with 2 D graphene oxide toward OER were realized to be superior even to the 1 D carbon nanotube-based electro catalyst in terms of overpotential to reach a current density of10 mA/cm^(2) as well as Tafel *** NiFe_(2)O_(4) with 2 D graphene oxide hybrid exhibits good stability with an overpotential of 327 mV at a current density of 10 mA/cm^(2) and a Tafel slope of 103 mV/*** high performance of NiFe_(2)O_(4) with 2 D graphene oxide is mainly attributed to its unique morphology,more exposed active sites,and a porous structure with a high surface ***,an approach of hybridizing a metal oxide with a carbonaceous material offers an attractive platform for developing an efficient electrocatalyst for water electrochemistry applications.
