the levered-dual response(LEdAR)Coulomb-damped system attains near resonant vibration isolation by differential preloads/offsets in linear *** takes the advantages of both the preloads/offsets in linear springs and the guiderail friction for realizing different levels of vibration *** isolation capacities are investigated on the strategies with both the horizontal and vertical guiderails,with the horizontal rail only,and without *** compressive preloads generally result in the consumption of most of the initial excitation energy so as to overcome the potential *** isolation onsets at the frequency ratio of 1∓0.095 on the left-hand side(LHS)and the right-hand side(RHS)of the lever are relative to the load plate *** observed near resonant isolation thus makes the LEdAR system a candidate for the isolation of the mechanical systems about resonance while opening a path for simultaneous harvesterisolation functions and passive functions at extreme frequencies.

the effects of cold work produced by peening processes in residual stress relaxation under elevated temperatures were *** types of peening processes namely shot peening and laser peening were used to generate different amount of cold work and residual stresses in the *** of residual stress induced by cold working were carried out using X-ray diffraction coupled with electrochemical polishing method to measure the variation of residual stress with *** stresses in shot peened samples were observed to relax more rapidly than that of laser peened ones when subjected to thermal *** data collected from the experimental investigation was then used to build a correlation function to model the effects of cold work on residual stress relaxation.A parameter describing cold work’s contribution to stress relaxation is introduced into the well-known Zener-WertAvrami(ZWA)*** model was validated against experimental measurements and showed good agreement in both shot peened and laser peened samples.

there is a need to develop interventions to slow or reverse the degeneration of dopamine neurons in Parkinson’s disease after *** that preclinical and clinical studies suggest benefits of dietary n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids,such as docosahexaenoic acid,and exercise in Parkinson’s disease,we investigated whether both could synergistically interact to induce recovery of the dopaminergic ***,mice received a unilateral stereotactic injection of 6-hydroxydopamine into the striatum to establish an animal model of nigrostriatal *** weeks after lesion,animals were fed a docosahexaenoic acid-enriched or a control diet for the next 8 *** this period,the animals had access to a running wheel,which they could use or *** acid treatment,voluntary exercise,or the combination of both had no effect on(i)distance traveled in the open field test,(ii)the percentage of contraversive rotations in the apomorphine-induction test or(iii)the number of tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive cells in the substantia nigra pars ***,the docosahexaenoic acid diet increased the number of tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive terminals and induced a rise in dopamine concentrations in the lesioned *** to docosahexaenoic acid treatment or exercise alone,the combination of docosahexaenoic acid and exercise(i)improved forelimb balance in the stepping test,(ii)decreased the striatal dOPAC/dopamine ratio and(iii)led to increased dopamine transporter levels in the lesioned *** present results suggest that the combination of exercise and docosahexaenoic acid may act synergistically in the striatum of mice with a unilateral lesion of the dopaminergic system and provide support for clinical trials combining nutrition and physical exercise in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

Successful polyethylene glycol fusion(PEG-fusion)of severed axons following peripheral nerve injuries for PEG-fused axons has been reported to:(1)rapidly restore electrophysiological continuity;(2)prevent distal Wallerian degeneration and maintain their myelin sheaths;(3)promote primarily motor,voluntary behavioral recoveries as assessed by the Sciatic Functional Index;and,(4)rapidly produce correct and incorrect connections in many possible combinations that produce rapid and extensive recovery of functional peripheral nervous system/central nervous system connections and reflex(e.g.,toe twitch)or voluntary *** preceding companion paper describes sensory terminal field reo rganization following PEG-fusion repair of sciatic nerve transections or ablations;howeve r,sensory behavioral recovery has not been explicitly explored following PEG-fusion *** the current study,we confirmed the success of PEG-fusion surgeries according to criteria(1-3)above and more extensively investigated whether PEG-fusion enhanced mechanical nociceptive recovery following sciatic transection in male and female outbred Sprague-dawley and inbred Lewis *** nociceptive responses were assessed by measuring withdrawal thresholds using von Frey filaments on the dorsal and midplantar regions of the *** von Frey filament tests were a more reliable method than plantar von Frey filament tests to assess mechanical nociceptive sensitivity following sciatic nerve *** withdrawal thresholds of the sciatic-mediated lateral dorsal region differed significantly across strain but not *** thresholds did not change significantly from baseline in chronic Unoperated and Sham-operated *** sciatic transection,all rats exhibited severe hyposensitivity to stimuli at the lateral dorsal region of the hindpaw ipsilateral to the ***,PEG-fused rats exhibited significantly earlier return to baseline withdrawal thresholds than Negative

this paper presents the first application of the bees algorithm to the optimisation of parameters of a two-dimensional （2d） recursive digital filter. the algorithm employs a search technique inspired by the foraging behaviour of honey bees. the results obtained show clear improvement compared to those produced by the widely adopted genetic algorithm （GA）.

An analytical solution for buckling of an eccentrically stiffened sandwich truncated conical shell is investigated. the shell consists of two functionally graded material （FGM） coating layers and a core layer which are metal or ceramic subjected to an axial compressive load and an external uniform pressure. Shells are reinforced by stringers and rings, in which the material properties of shells and stiffeners are graded in the thickness direction following a general sigmoid law distribution. two models of coated shell-stiffener arrangements are investigated. the change of the spacing between stringers in the meridional direction is taken into account. A couple set of three-variable- coefficient partial differential equations in terms of displacement components are solved by the Galerkin method. A closed-form expression for determining the buckling load is obtained. the numerical examples are presented and compared with previous works.

the fourth fundamental circuit element memristor completes the missing link between charge and mag- netic flux. It consists of the function of the resistor as well as memory in nonlinear fashion. the property of the memristor depends on the magnitude and direction of applied potential. this unique property makes it the primi- tive building block for many applications such as resistive memories, soft computing, neuromorphic systems and chaotic circuits etc. In this paper we report tiO2-based nanostructured memristor modelling. the present memris- tor model is constructed in MAtLAB environment with consideration of the linear drift model of memristor. the result obtained from the linear drift model is well matched with earlier reported results by other research groups.

Excited states in low-energy spectra of ^(70-76) Ni are considered. Accordingly, pairing forces in the form of surface delta interaction are employed to account for the formation of the ground state multiplet with seniority v= 2 states. the multiplet splitting is described with mass relationships of masses of neighboring nuclei. Subsequently, the seniority model is adopted to reproduce or predict the states v= 3 in odd-even isotopes and v= 4 in even-even isotopes. the correct account of the 2^(+)_(1) state should allow for the description of the reversed order of J = 4 states with v= 2 and v= 4 observed in experiments. the results obtained are compared with the structure of similar multiplets in N=50 isotones.

the analytical modeling of nanoscale devices is an important area of computer-aided design for fast and accurate nanoelectronic design and optimization. In the present paper, a new approach for modeling semicon- ductor devices, nanoscale double gate dG MOSFEts, by use of the gradual channel approximation （GC） approach and genetic algorithm optimization technique （GA） is presented. the proposed approach combines the universal optimization and fitting capability of GA and the cost-effective optimization concept of quantum correction, to achieve reliable, accurate and simple compact models for nanoelectronic circuit simulations. Our compact models give good predictions of the quantum capacitance, threshold voltage shift, quantum inversion charge density and drain current. these models have been verified with 2d self-consistent results from numerical calculations of the coupled Poisson-Schrrdinger equations. the developed models can also be incorporated into nanoelectronic cir- cuit simulators to study the nanoscale CMOS-based devices without impact on the computational time and data storage.
