Background Aedes aegypti,the primary vector of dengue,chikungunya,and Zika viruses,poses a significant public health threat *** control methods using insecticides are increasingly challenged by resistance and environmental *** sterile insect technique(SIT)offers an eco-friendly alternative that has been suc-cessfully applied to other insect *** article aims to briefly review *** management in Cuba,highlighting the accomplishments,challenges,and future directions of the *** body Here we provide a brief summary of the extensive history of *** control efforts in *** a successful eradication campaign in the 1980s,a resurgence of dengue cases has been observed in recent years,suggesting that traditional control methods may have limited effectiveness under current *** response,Cuba initiated a phased approach to develop and evaluate the feasibility of SIT for *** control,starting in *** research focused on *** mating behavior and sterilization methods,followed by successful laboratory and semi-field trials that demonstrated population *** first open-field trial in 2020 confirmed the eff-cacy of the SIT in reducing *** populations under real-world ***,the research is in a phase involving a cluster-randomized superiority-controlled *** planned trial will compare the standard vector control program with the same program augmented by the SIT,aiming to assess the impact of the SIT on dengue incidence as the primary *** robust epidemiological trials to evaluate the effectiveness of the SiT is com-plex due to potential spillover effects from mosquito and human movement across study ***,con-ducting the SIT requires significant development and operational *** these challenges,the ongo-ing Cuban trial holds promise for establishing the SIT as an effective and sustainable tool for *** control an

Controlling Molecular Packing in Aqueous Metallosupramolecular Self-assembly by Ligand Geometry

The coordination geometry of d8 transition metal complexes has been successfully exploited as a tool to tune photophysical properties and self-assembly pathways of supramolecular polymerization processes,with a focus being primarily placed on organic *** such controlled supramolecular and photophysical properties to assemblies in aqueous media by molecular design is,however,still challenging due to the difficulty in programming noncovalent interactions in ***,we tackle this challenge by analyzing the aqueous self-assembly of amphiphilic Pt(II)complexes of different molecular geometry in order to control self-assembly and metal−metal interactions in aqueous *** this end,we have designed two Pt(II)complexes,1 and 2,containing an identical oligophenyleneethynylene(OPE)-based aromatic scaffold that differ in the molecular geometry(linear vs V-shaped)imposed by ligand substitution and studied their comparative self-assembly behavior in aqueous *** though both molecules follow the isodesmic mechanism of self-assembly,their structural difference strongly influences the molecular packing in aqueous media,which in turn impacts the photophysical properties(*** or presence of MMLCT)and the self-assembly *** the molecular geometry for 2 enforces short Pt…Pt contacts driven by an efficient face-to-face stacking of the OPE backbone,the antiparallel packing of 1 with slight translational offset does not allow the formation of short Pt…Pt *** a distinct interplay of interactions for 1 and 2 in aqueous media leads to significant differences in photoluminescence.

Objective:To evaluate 11 Cuban native Bacillus(B.)thuringiensis isolates in order to select one with the best larvicidal activity against Aedes(Ae.)aegypti and low ***:The cry and cyt genes of the isolates(A21,A51,L95,L910,M29,R84,R85,R87,R89,U81 and X48)were amplified by *** influence of organic matter and NaCl on the larvicidal activity was tested by *** was assayed on peritoneal macrophages of BALB/c ***:The cyt1(Aa,Ab,Ba),cyt2,cry4aA,cry4Ba,cry11(Aa,Ba,Bb)and cry10 genes were identified in all native Cuban *** larvicidal activity(LC_(90))of seven isolates was affected by the presence of organic matter in the water,while A21,A51,L910,R84,U81 and X48 had better LC_(50),LC_(90),LC_(95) than the 266/29-Ⅶ-98 control *** LC_(50) of two isolates was affected by the presence of NaCl and A21,A51,R85 isolate had better larvicidal activity than the 266/29-Ⅶ-98 control *** terms of toxicity against macrophages,the extracts of nine isolates were less cytotoxic than the control ***:Native isolate A21 had the main virulence factors against *** larvae,displayed a good larvicidal activity in presence of different factors related with *** breeding sites,and had low citotoxicity against *** results can contribute to the improvement of existing biological control strategies and the development of new biolarvicides.

The Use of the ICTs in the Value Chain Proce,;ses and Their Impact on Organizational Performance

Companies are currently immersed in a process of competitiveness, which is increasingly more complicated to achieve differentiation that can guarantee you the preference of customers and consequently the success of the organization. It becomes partly crucial for the organization to be in the dynamics of the sector and market where it operates and wants its consolidation, because value systems become strategic elemente that play a role as key factors of success in organizations seeking priority intend to increase their organizational performance. Given the above, this research seeks to get to identify strategic uses of information and communication technologies in the processes of the value chain in small commercial businesses in Mexicali, aiming to contribute to the improvement of the competitiveness of the same. It is in this sense that the technologies of information and communication have become a powerful tool that will allow them to be innovative, cost-effective and this will have an impact on the performance of the organization that will allow you to improve your service, interact with customers and suppliers, and above all more efficiently meet their own needs and organizational expectations. This research was exploratory and within the relevant findings, coming to the conclusion that it is necessary to focus more emphatically on the client; organizations have deficiencies in relation to the strategic use of ICTs to streamline their billing, manufacturing, distribution, and storage of your products, activities highlighting this if they don＇t have a reconsideration in this aspect, at the risk of offset in terms of its competitors which would mean ceasing to be option on the market, stressing that this not only will be a trigger factor in mature companies, but those who need to improve their service and that they will serve as input for the conduction of processes along the value chain. Liver Lead Levels in Snow Goose (Chen caerulescens) in a Wetland near the City of Durango, Mexico

The use of lead in ammunition for hunting exposes waterfowl to lead poisoning (plumbism) by accidental consumption of shotgun pellets. To test this hypothesis we sampled 18 liver tissue samples of Snow Goose (Chen caerulescens) collected during the 2012-2013 hunting season in a wetland near the city of Durango, Mexico. We quantified liver lead levels using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer and portions of liver were fixed and stained for their histological study. Average lead concentration (in dry weight) were under the normal range (mean = 0.73 ± 0.2, standard error) which do not represent any risk of poisoning. Liver tissue injuries were not observed in the histopathological analysis, suggesting no reaction to a xenobiotic agent such as lead. Gastrointestinal content analysis showed lead pellet in the gizzard of one individual, but we could not find a relationship between pellet ingestion and lead concentration in the liver. Although the results did not provide evidences of lethal or sublethal effects caused by lead poisoning, they show a possible risk due to the presence of lead pellets in the digestive tract.
