The sputtering process of Ar＋Ni（100） collision systems is investigated b. means of constant energy molecular dynamics simulations. The Ni（100） slab.is mimicked b. an emb.dded-atom potential, and the interaction b.tween the projectile and the surface is modelled b. using the reparametrized Zb. potential. Ni atom emission from the lattice is analysed over the range of 20-50 eV collision energy. Sputtering yield, angular and energy distrib.tions of the scattered Ar and of the sputtered Ni atoms are calculated, and compared to the availab.e theoretical and experimental data.

This paper presents the calib.ation of Omori’s aftershock occurrence rate model for Turkey and the resulting likelihoods. Aftershock occurrence rate models are used for estimating the prob.b.lity of an aftershock that exceeds a specific magnitude threshold within a time interval after the mainshock. Critical decisions on the post-earthquake safety of structures directly depend on the aftershock hazard estimated using the occurrence model. It is customary to calib.ate models in a region-specific manner. These models depend on rate parameters(a, b. c and p) related to the seismicity characteristics of the investigated region. In this study, the availab.e well-recorded aftershock sequences for a set of Mw ≥ 5.9 mainshock events that were ob.erved in Turkey until 2012 are considered to develop the aftershock occurrence model. Mean estimates of the model parameters identified for Turkey are a =-1.90, b.= 1.11, c = 0.05 and p = 1.20. b.sed on the developed model, aftershock likelihoods are computed for a range of different time intervals and mainshock magnitudes. Also, the sensitivity of aftershock prob.b.lities to the model parameters is investigated. Aftershock occurrence prob.b.lities estimated using the model are expected to b. useful for post-earthquake safety evaluations in Turkey.

b.smuth teUuride （b.2Te3） is one of the most important commercial thermoelectric materials. In recent years, the discovery of topologically protected surface states in b. chalcogenides has paved the way for their application in nanoelectronics. Determination of the fracture toughness plays a crucial role for the potential application of topological insulators in flexib.e electronics and nanoelectro- mechanical devices. Using depth-sensing nanoindentation tests, we investigated for the first time the fracture toughness of b.lk single crystals of b.2Te3 topological insulators, grown using the b.idgmantockb.rger method. Our results highlight one of the possib.e pitfalls of the technology b.sed on topological insulators.

b.ron is an element that has ab.lity to b.ild strong and highly directional b.nds with b.ron itself. As a result, b.ron atoms form diverse structural motifs, ultimately can yield distinct nano structures, such as planar, quasi-planar, convex, cage, open-cage, tub.lar, spherical, ring, dome-like, shell, capsule, and so on, i.e., it can take almost any shape. Therefore, a deep understanding of the physical and chemical properties b.comes important in b.ron cluster chemistry. Electronic and geometric structures, total and b.nding energies, harmonic frequencies, point symmetries, charge distrib.tions, dipole moments, chemical b.ndings and the highest occupied molecular orb.tal-lowest unoccupied molecular orb.tal energy gaps of neutral b. （n=13-20） clusters have b.en investigated b. density functional theory （DFT）, b.LYP with 6-311＋＋g（d,p） b.sis set. Furthermore, the first and the second energy differences are used to ob.ain the most stab.e sizes. We have ob.erved that almost all physical properties are size dependent, and doub.e-ring tub.lar form of b.0 has the highest b.nding energy per atom. The icosahedral structure with an inside atom is found as impossib.e as a stab.e structure for the size thirteen. This structure transforms to an open-cage form. The structural transition from two-dimensional to three-dimensional is found at the size of 20 and consistent with the literature. The calculated charges b. the Mulliken analysis show that there is a symmetry pattern with respect to the x-z and y-z planes for the charge distrib.tions. The unusual planar stab.lity of the b.ron clusters may b. explained b. the delocalized π and σ b.nding characteristic together with the existence of the multicentered b.nding. The results have b.en compared to availab.e studies in the literature.

The structure and thermal parameters of Ni20Pd80 alloy were studied b. X-ray diffraction（XRD）. The diffraction experiments performed in the temperature range of 308-1100 K revealed that the alloy formed a face centered cub.c （fcc） Al-type structure. The temperature dependence of the lattice parameters was investigated b. using the b.agg line displacement method showing that the lattice parameter increases with the increase of temperature. The mean linear thermal expansion （MLTE（%））, coefficient of thermal expansion （CTE, α）, the characteristic Deb.e temperature （（θD） and mean square amplitudes of vib.ation were determined from XRD data. The value of Deb.e temperature was found to b. 253 K. It was found that temperature factor was independent of the static displacements.

D-A copolymerization is a b.oadly utilized molecular design strategy to construct high efficiency photovoltaic materials for polymer solar cells(PSCs),and all the D-A copolymer donors reported till now are the alternate D-A copolymers with equal D-and ***,we first propose a non-equivalent D-A copolymerization strategy with unequal D-and A-units,and develop three novel non-equivalent D-A copolymer donors(PM6-D1,PM6-D2 and PM6-D3 with D/A unit ratio of 1.1:0.9,1.2:0.8 and1.3:0.7,respectively)b. inserting more D units into the alternate D-A copolymer PM6 b.ckb.ne to finely tune the physicochemical and photovoltaic properties of the *** three non-equivalent D-A copolymers show the down-shifted highest occupied molecular orb.tal(HOMO)energy levels,higher hole mob.lity,higher degree of molecular self-assemb.y and higher molecular crystallinity with the increase of D-unit ratio in comparison with the alternate D-A copolymer *** a result,all the three non-equivalent D-A copolymer-b.sed PSCs with Y6 as acceptor achieve improved power conversion efficiency(PCE)with higher V_(oc),larger J_(sc)and higher FF ***,the PM6-D1:Y6 b.sed PSC achieved a high PCE of17.71%,which is significantly higher than that(15.82%)of the PM6:Y6 b.sed PSC and is one of the highest performances in the b.nary PSCs.

Pollen hydration on dry stigmas is strictly regulated b. pollen–stigma interactions in b.assicaceae. Although several related molecular events have b.en describ.d, the molecular mechanism underlying pollen hydration remains elusive. Multiple b.class pollen coat proteins(PCP-b.) are involved in pollen hydration. Here, b. analyzing the interactions of two PCP-b. with three Arab.dopsis thaliana stigmas strongly expressing S-domain receptor kinase(SD-RLK), we determined that SD-RLK28 directly interacts with PCP-b.. We investigated pollen hydration, pollen germination, pollen tub. growth, and stigma receptivity in the sd-rlk28 and pcp-b. mutants. PCP-b. acts in the pollen to regulate pollen hydration on stigmas. Loss of SD-RLK28 had no effect on pollen viab.lity, and sd-rlk28 plants had normal life cycles without ob.ious defects. However,pollen hydration on sd-rlk28 stigmas was impaired and pollen tub. growth in sd-rlk28 pistils was delayed. The defect in pollen hydration on sd-rlk28 stigmas was independent of changes in reactive oxygen species levels in stigmas. These results indicate that SD-RLK28 functions in the stigma as a PCP-b. receptor to positively regulate pollen hydration on dry stigmas.

In this paper, we investigate the physics of the positron annihilation process, which occurs in a PET imaging system. In particular, the diffusion of b.ta particles (positrons) within water was addressed. b.ta particles are emitted isotropically from the same source point with random directions and randomly chosen energy levels. After traversing a certain distance within water, b.ta particles lose a certain amount of its energy. The inelastic collisions with atomic electrons are mainly responsib.e for the energy dissipation of charged particles, such as electrons and positrons (that have low mass). The energy loss rate due to inelastic process is estimated b. using the b.ta-b.och formula. These results help in understanding how to develop and implement a computationally efficient Monte Carlo Simulation of the positron annihilation process.
