Evaluation of Groundwater Quality and Its Suitability for Domestic and Irrigation Use in Parts of the ch.ndauli-Varanasi Region, Uttar Pradesh, India

The present study focused on the hydrochemistry of groundwater in parts of ch.ndauli-Varanasi region to assess the quality of groundwater for determining its suitability for drinking and agricultural purposes. Urbanization and agriculture activities have a lot of impacts on the groundwater quality of the study area. A total of 70 ground water samples were collected randomly from different sources viz. hand pump, dug wells and bore wells, and analyzed for major cations and anions. The domination of cations and anions was in the order of na > Ca > Mg > K and HCO3 > Cl > SO4 > nO3 > F. The Piper classification for hydrogeochemical facies indicates that alkaline earth exceeds alkalis and weak acids exceed strong acid. Water quality index rating was calculated to quantify overall water quality for human consumption. Out of 70 groundwater samples, 7% and 10% samples exhibit water unsuitable for drinking purposes in pre- and post-monsoon, respectively, due to effective leach.ng of ions, direct discharge of domestic effluents and agricultural activities. Residual sodium carbonate values revealed that 6% sample is not suitable for irrigation purposes in both the seasons due to low permeability of the soil. The calculated values of PI indicate that the water for irrigation uses is excellent to good quality in both seasons. As per Wilcox’s diagram and US salinity laboratory classification, most of the groundwater samples are suitable for irrigation except one sample which is unsuitable for irrigation purposes. The overall quality of groundwater in post-monsoon season in all chemical constituents is on the higher side due to dissolution of surface pollutants during the infiltration and percolation of rainwater at few places due to agricultural and domestic activities.

Phenolic compounds are related to high biological activity,avoiding oxidation in food and human *** are by-products derived from the pecan nut processing that contain important amounts of phenols which biological activity must be *** research aimed to evaluate the antioxidant(DPPH,ABTS,FRAP and hemolysis)and anti-inflammatory activities of shell extracts from pecan nuts harvested during the crop production cycle 2018 and 2019,as well as the in vitro digestibility of their phenolic compounds,including *** showed that extracts from the crop production cycle 2018 obtained the highest yield,while those from 2019 contained the highest concentration of phenolic compounds,flavonoids and antioxidant capacity determined by DPPH(22.96 mmol ET),ABTS(91.55 mmol ET)and inhibition of hemolysis(92.12%).The anti-inflammatory activity exhibited an inhibition of the elastase enzyme up to 50 min and the bioaccessibility of phenolic compounds reached up to 32%.These results showed that pecan nutshell extracts are an important source of biologically active compounds,thus,they are suitable to be used as commodities in different fields such as agricultural,food and pharmaceutical *** studies must be carried out in order to elucidate the activity of nutshell extracts within in vivo systems.

Structurally,the north Almora Thrust(nAT),is placed in the northern proximity of the Almora nappe(An)in the Kumaun Lesser *** nAT is characterized by the presence of a zone of mylonitic rocks of basal Saryu Formation(1800±100 Ma)in the hanging wall and the metasedimentaries of Inner Lesser Himalayan rocks as the footwall *** nAT has been dextrally offset by two estabilished maj or faults *** River Fault(SRF)in Saryu Valley and Dwarahat-chaukhutia Fault(DCF)in Ramganga *** present study,we identified four new faults,based on field study,geomorphic landform and magnetic fabric *** faults are n-S trending Pancheshwar Fault,nE-SW Rameshwer Fault,nnE-SSW trending Kosi Fault,and nnE-SSW trending Gagas Fault(GF).Our results show that the zone is bound by cross cutting relation with nAT and these fault zones are comparatively more active than other ***,we suggest that the steep and nW-SE orientation of magnetic foliation within the nAT zone is a result of nE-SW oriented progressive regional *** magnetic foliations represent the unseen internal foliations in the rocks developed due to preferred alignment of magnetic minerals and can be found through the Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility(AMS)*** in the alignment of the field and magnetic foliations are developed due to superimposed brittle deformation along the faults over the pre-existing field *** foliations represent the impact of last stage deformation and significant to find brittle deformation and finite strain in the rocks of the study *** lowering of anisotropy(Pj)away from the fault zone represents distribution of strain across the nAT *** fabric confirms the presence of faults developed across the nAT zone and also explains the deformation pattern along these *** geomorphic anomalies and steepness ch.nges across the nAT zone are correlated with active deformation along the nAT and associated transverse

We report a compact experimental setup for producing a quantum degenerate mixture of Bose23na and Fermi40K gases. The atoms are collected in dual dark magneto–optical traps(MOT) with species timesharing loading to reduce the light-induced loss, and then further cooled using the gray molasses technique on the D2line for23na and D1line for40K. The microwave evaporation cooling is used to cool23na in |F = 2, mF= 2〉 in an optically plugged magnetic trap, meanwhile,40K in |F = 9/2, mF= 9/2〉 is sympathetically cooled. Then the mixture is loaded into a large volume optical dipole trap where23na atoms are immediately transferred to |1, 1〉 for further effective cooling to avoid the strong three-body loss between23na atoms in |2, 2〉 and40K atoms in |9/2, 9/2〉. At the end of the evaporation in optical trap, a degenerate Fermi gas of40K with 1.9 × 10^(5) atoms at T/TF= 0.5 in the |9/2, 9/2〉 hyperfine state coexists with a Bose–Einstein condensate(BEC) of23na with 8 × 10^(4) atoms in the |1, 1〉 hyperfine state at 300 n K. We also can produce the two species mixture with the tunable population imbalance by adjusting the 23na magneto–optical trap loading time.
