The spin-orbit assisted Mott insulator α-RuCl_(3) is a prime candidate for material realization of the Kitaev quantum spin *** little attention has been paid to charge degrees of freedom,charge effects,such as electric polarization,may arise in this ***,we report distortion-induced local electric polarization in α-RuCl_(3) as evidenced by single-crystal X-ray diffraction,second harmonic generation(SHG)and dielectric *** SHG signal appears at room temperature and develops substantially in the Kitaev paramagnetic state when short-range spin correlations come into *** sizable pyroelectric currents in the Kitaev paramagnetic state,the absence of hysteresis in the polarization-electric field(P-E)points to the shortrange nature of electric *** localized electric polarization is likely the result of distortion-induced charge dimerization,achieved through virtual hopping-induced charge *** addition,the electric polarization is boosted by short-range spin correlations via spin-phonon coupling in the Kitaev paramagnetic *** results emphasize the importance of charge degrees of freedom in α-RuCl_(3),which establish a novel platform to investigate charge effects in Kitaev materials.

By deploying the ubiquitous and reliable coverage of low Earth orbit(LEO)satellite networks using optical inter satel-lite link(OISL),computation offloading services can be provided for any users without proximal servers,while the resource limita-tion of both computation and storage on satellites is the impor-tant factor affecting the maximum task completion *** this paper,we study a delay-optimal multi-satellite collaborative computation offloading scheme that allows satellites to actively migrate tasks among themselves by employing the high-speed OISLs,such that tasks with long queuing delay will be served as quickly as possible by utilizing idle computation resources in the *** satisfy the delay requirement of delay-sensi-tive task,we first propose a deadline-aware task scheduling scheme in which a priority model is constructed to sort the order of tasks being served based on its deadline,and then a delay-optimal collaborative offloading scheme is derived such that the tasks which cannot be completed locally can be migrated to other idle *** results demonstrate the effective-ness of our multi-satellite collaborative computation offloading strategy in reducing task complement time and improving resource utilization of the LEO satellite network.

The spatial arrangement of activating ligands is known to have great influence on T cell ***,independently studying each ligand’s spatial organization parameter that affects T cell activation remains a great ***,with DNA origami,we precisely organized the CD3ɛantibodies simulating T cell receptor(TCR)ligands and CD28 antibodies simulating co-stimulatory ligands to interrogate the independent role of TCR-ligand spacing and local copy numbers as well as the spacing between TCR ligands and co-stimulatory ligands on T cell *** found that T cell activation benefited fromlocally concentrated TCR ligands with a shorter spacing and was maximized by an∼38 nm spacing between TCR ligands and co-stimulatory *** T cell expander constructed based on our findings could efficiently expand CD8+T cells for tumor ***,the DNA nanostructurebased ligands’precise arrangement can be a unique tool in studying immune cell activations and cellbased immunotherapies.

As the Chinese government proposes ambitious plans to promote low-carbon transition,energy storage will play a pivotal role in China’s future power ***,due to the lack of a mature electricity market environment and corresponding mechanisms,current energy storage in China faces problems such as unclear operational models,insufficient cost recovery mechanisms,and a single investment entity,making it difficult to support the rapid development of the energy storage *** contrast,European and American countries have already embarked on certain practices in energy storage operation *** exploration of key issues such as investment entities,market participation forms,and cost recovery channels in both front and back markets,a wealth of mature experiences has been ***,this paper first summarizes the existing practices of energy storage operation models in North America,Europe,and Australia’s electricity markets separately from front and back markets,finding that perfect market mechanisms and reasonable subsidy policies are among the main drivers for promoting the rapid development of energy storage ***,combined with the actual development of China’s electricity market,it explores three key issues affecting the construction of costsharing mechanisms for energy storage under market conditions:Market participation forms,investment and operation modes,and cost recovery ***,in line with the development expectations of China’s future electricitymarket,suggestions are proposed fromfour aspects:Market environment construction,electricity price formation mechanism,cost sharing path,and policy subsidy mechanism,to promote the healthy and rapid development of China’s energy storage industry.

CMN: a co-designed neural architecture search for efficient computing-in-memory-based mixture-of-experts

Artificial intelligence(AI) has experienced substantial advancements recently, notably with the advent of large-scale language models(LLMs) employing mixture-of-experts(MoE) techniques, exhibiting human-like cognitive skills. As a promising hardware solution for edge MoE implementations, the computing-in-memory(CIM) architecture collocates memory and computing within a single device, significantly reducing the data movement and the associated energy consumption. However, due to diverse edge application scenarios and constraints, determining the optimal network structures for MoE, such as the expert's location,quantity, and dimension on CIM systems remains elusive. To this end, we introduce a software-hardware co-designed neural architecture search(NAS) framework, CIM-based MoE NAS(CMN), focusing on identifying a high-performing MoE structure under specific hardware constraints. The results of the NYUD-v2 dataset segmentation on the RRAM(SRAM) CIM system reveal that CMN can discover optimized MoE configurations under energy, latency, and performance constraints, achieving 29.67×(43.10×) energy savings,175.44×(109.89×) speedup, and 12.24× smaller model size compared to the baseline MoE-enabled Visual Transformer, respectively. This co-design opens up an avenue toward high-performance MoE deployments in edge CIM systems.

The poor stability of RuO_(2)electrocatalysts has been the primary obstacles for their practical application in polymer electrolyte membrane *** dramatically enhance the durability of RuO_(2)to construct activity-stability trade-off model is full of significance but ***,a single atom Zn stabilized RuO_(2)with enriched oxygen vacancies(SA Zn-RuO_(2))is developed as a promising alternative to iridium oxide for acidic oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Compared with commercial RuO_(2),the enhanced Ru–O bond strength of SA Zn-RuO_(2)by forming Zn-O-Ru local structure motif is favorable to stabilize surface Ru,while the electrons transferred from Zn single atoms to adjacent Ru atoms protects the Ru active sites from ***,the optimized surrounding electronic structure of Ru sites in SA ZnRuO_(2)decreases the adsorption energies of OER intermediates to reduce the reaction *** a result,the representative SA Zn-RuO_(2)exhibits a low overpotential of 210 mV to achieve 10 mA cm^(-2)and a greatly enhanced durability than commercial RuO_(2).This work provides a promising dual-engineering strategy by coupling single atom doping and vacancy for the tradeoff of high activity and catalytic stability toward acidic OER.

Krill oil attenuates obesity-induced skeletal muscle atrophy in mice

Obesity is associated with skeletal muscle mass loss and physical dysfunction. Krill oil (KO) has been shown to be beneficial in human health. However， the effect of KO on obesity-induced skeletal muscle atrophy is still unclear. In this study， the male C57BL/6J mice were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for 12 weeks to induce obesity， and then were intragastric administration with 400 mg/kg bw KO for an additional 6 weeks. The results showed that KO treatment reduced body weight， fat accumulation and serum pro-inflammatory cytokines in HFD-induced obese mice. Importantly， KO treatment attenuated skeletal muscle atrophy in HFD-fed mice， as evidenced by preserving skeletal muscle mass， average myofiber cross-sectional area and grip strength. KO administration also mitigated obesity-induced ectopic lipid deposition and inflammatory response in skeletal muscle. Additionally， KO treatment inhibited the transcriptional activities of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) p65 and forkhead box O 3a (FoxO3a)， and then down-regulated muscle atrophy F-box (MAFbx) and muscle-specific RING finger protein 1 (MuRF1) protein levels in skeletal muscle from HFD-fed mice. KO administration also improved obesity-induced impaired muscle protein synthesis via activating PI3K/Akt pathway. Furthermore， KO treatment enhanced muscle mitochondrial biogenesis in HFD-induced obese mice via activating PGC-1α pathway. Collectively， KO might be developed as a potential nutritional supplement for the prevention and treatment of obesity-induced skeletal muscle atrophy.

Embedded memory,which heavily relies on the manufacturing process,has been widely adopted in various industrial *** the field of embedded memory continues to evolve,innovative strategies are emerging to enhance *** them,resistive random access memory(RRAM)has gained significant attention due to its numerousadvantages over traditional memory devices,including high speed(<1 ns),high density(4 F^(2)·n^(-1)),high scalability(~nm),and low power consumption(~pJ).This review focuses on the recent progress of embedded RRAM in industrial manufacturing and its *** provides a brief introduction to the concepts and advantages of RRAM,discusses the key factors that impact its industrial manufacturing,and presents the commercial progress driven by cutting-edge nanotechnology,which has been pursued by manysemiconductor ***,it highlights the adoption of embedded RRAM in emerging applications within the realm of the Internet of Things and future intelligent computing,with a particular emphasis on its role in neuromorphic ***,the review discusses thecurrent challenges and provides insights into the prospects of embedded RRAM in the era of big data and artificial intelligence.
