A proton-catalyzing prodrug for PDT and glycolysis inhibition-synergistic therapy of tumor in spatiotemporal dimensions

The reactive oxygen species(ROS) generation from photosensitizer in photodynamic therapy(PDT) is limited by tumor *** type-I photosensitizers, e.g., sulfur-substituted Nile blue, still rely on oxygen as the main center for transferring electrons to generate ROS. Cutting off the pathway of oxygen consumption in tumor can help photosensitizers overcome the limitation of low oxygen, in order to efficiently generate more ROS. It is known that glycolysis inhibitor 3-bromopyruvic acid(3-BP), which could specially target mitochondria, can provide more oxygen by inhibiting oxidative phosphorylation. Herein, we successfully designed and synthesized a new 3-BP-coupled sulfur-substituted Nile blue as prodrug(NBBP) for chemical/photodynamic synergistic therapy. Major results indicated that the protons in tumor catalyzed the hydrolysis of NBBP, inhibited photoinduced electron transfer between 3-BP and the photosensitizer in NBBP and further assisted the photosensitizer to be localized in mitochondria, utilizing local oxygen as much as possible and kill tumor cells more efficiently. Moreover, the glycolysis inhibition-induced autophagy was combined with PDT-induced autophagy, which could promote the deaths of tumor *** other remedies exploiting nanomaterials, this construction method of NBBP achieves the efficient synergy of photodynamic therapy and glycolysis inhibition, stronger than their theoretical addition, in spatiotemporal dimensions. Our study provides not only a highly efficient platform for tumor therapy but also a design approach for prodrugs with synergistic effects.

Nonreciprocal generation of Schr?dinger cat state induced by topology

The Schr?dinger cat state produced differently in two directions is anticipated to be a critical quantum resource in quantum information technologies. By exploring the interplay between quantum nonreciprocity and topology in a one-dimensional microcavity array, we obtain the Schr?dinger cat state(a pure quantum state) in a chosen direction at the edge cavity, whereas a classical state in the other direction. This nonreciprocal generation of the cat state originates from the topologically protected chiralitymode excitation in the nontrivial phase, but in the trivial phase, the nonreciprocal generation of cat state vanishes. Thus, our proposal is switchable by tuning the parameters so that a topological phase transition occurs. Moreover, the obtained cat state has nonreciprocal high fidelity, nonclassicality, and quantum coherence, which are sufficient to be used in various one-way quantum technologies, e.g., invisible quantum sensing, noise-tolerant quantum computing, and chiral quantum networks. Our work provides a general approach to control quantum nonreciprocities with the topological effect, which substantially broadens the fields of nonreciprocal photonics and topological physics.

Evaluation and Influencing Factors on Particle Agglomeration in RAP

Asphalt extraction test and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) were used for analysis of agglomerations of reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP) particles. In order to quantify the agglomeration degree of RAP, the fineness modulus ratio(FMR) and the percentage loss index(Pli) were proposed. In addition, grey correlation analysis was conducted to discuss the relationship between particle agglomerations and RAP size,asphalt content(AC), and surface area. Two indexes indicate that the agglomeration degree increases in general as the RAP size reduces. This can be attributed to that particles are prone to agglomeration in the case of higher AC. Based on the SEM images and the material composition of RAP, the particle agglomeration in RAP can be classified into weak agglomeration and strong agglomeration. Grey correlation analysis shows that AC is the crucial factor affecting the agglomeration degree and RAP variability. In order to produce consistent and stable reclaimed mixtures, disposal measures of RAP are suggested to lower the AC of RAP.

Gapless Genome Assembly of ZH8015 and Preliminary Multi-Omics Analysis to Investigate ZH8015's Responses Against Brown Planthopper Infestation

Accurate genomic information is essential for advancing genetic breeding research in specific rice *** study presented a gapless genome assembly of the indica rice cultivar Zhonghui 8015(ZH8015)using Pac Bio HiFi,Hi-C,and ONT(Oxford Nanopore Technologies)ultra-long sequencing technologies,annotating 43037 gene ***,utilizing this genome along with transcriptomic and metabolomic techniques,we explored ZH8015's response to brown planthopper(BPH)*** transcriptomic sampling indicated significant changes in gene expression levels around 48 h after BPH *** analysis revealed particularly significant alterations in genes related to reactive oxygen species scavenging and cell wall *** results demonstrated marked increases in levels of several monosaccharides,which are components of the cell wall and dramatic changes in flavonoid *** association analysis identified differentially expressed genes associated with key metabolites,shedding light on ZH8015's response to BPH *** summary,this study constructed a reliable genome sequence resource for ZH8015,and the preliminary multi-omics results will guide future insect-resistant breeding research.

SIRT1 inhibits apoptosis of human lens epithelial cells through suppressing endoplasmic reticulum stress in vitro and in vivo

The underwater X-ray imaging technology development is significant to subaqueous target reconnaissance/detection/identification, subfluvial archaeology,submerged resource exploration, etc. As the core of X-ray imaging detection, the scintillator has been plagued by inherent moisture absorption and decomposition, and strict requirements for seamless packaging and ***, we designed a manganese-doped two-dimensional(2D) perovskite scintillator modified by hydrophobic longchain organic amine through the combination of component and doping engineering. The modified perovskites show high water repellency that can be used as an underwater X-ray scintillator. X-ray images of aquatic organisms or other objects with a high spatial resolution of10 lp·mm^(-1) at a big view field(32 mm × 32 mm) were obtained by scintillation screen. This hydrophobic perovskite scintillator based on molecular design is of great promise in underwater X-ray nondestructive testing technology development.

Carbon dots-derived three-dimensional-ordered macroporous host with high penetrability and catalytic activity for LSBs under lean electrolyte

The practical energy density of lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)is seriously limited by the high electrolyte-to-sulfur ratios(E/S).The E/S can be reduced by employing hosts with easy-to-infiltrate structure that ensures the uniform distribution of a lean electrolyte and high catalytic activity that can suppress"shuttle effect"via accelerating the slow conversion of soluble poly sulfides to insoluble *** the easy-to-infiltrate structures,the three-dimensional-ordered macroporous(3DOM)structure is easier to scale preparation and more suitable for the existing industrial ***,it is difficult to obtain the 3DOM with(1)high penetrability due to the high viscosity of frequently-used organic polymer precursors and(2)high catalytic activity due to the low confinement effect,meaning that uniformly dispersed small-sized catalytic materials are difficult to load on ***,using carbon dots(CDs)with both organic and inorganic properties as a precursor and aggregation limiting agent,a 3DOM host with high penetrability and homodispersed Ni particles of small sizes(Ni-CDs-3DOM)was *** this host:(1)CDs precursor with suitable viscosity can improve the penetrability.(2)CDs can effectively inhibit the agglomeration of Ni particles.(3)Uniformly dispersed small-size Ni particles offer high-efficiency catalytic activity toward sulfur ***,the Ni-CDs-3DOM/sulfur cathode exhibits high sulfur utilization and stable cycling performance even under high sulfur loading(5.5 mg·cm^(-2))and low E/S(6.5μl·mg^(-1)).This work indicates the usefulness of CDs in constructing hosts for LSBs with high energy density.
