Basic research on heavy ion cancer therapy such as radiobiology, medicalphysics, and therapeutic technique has been conducted at the institute ofModern Physics (IMP), Chinese Academy of sciences since 1995. Based on theachievements acquired in the basic research and the requirements for a heavyion accelerator for radiotherapy purposes, a dedicated heavy ion therapy facilitynamed Heavy Ion Medical Machine (HIMM) was designed at IMP andconstructed in Wuwei,{2.. The HIMM facility consists of two electroncyclotron resonance ion sources, one cyclotron as the injector and onesynchrotron as the main accelerator, and four different treatment roomsequipped with passive or active beam delivery systems, and accelerates carbonions up to 400 MeV/u. After the performance inspection of HIMM organized bythe National Medical Device Inspection Center, preclinical tests like cell andanimal radiobiological experiments and dosimetric verification using anthropomorphicphantoms for elucidating the biophysical properties of the carbon ionbeams provided by HIMM were carried out. According to the Chinese medicaldevice regulations, a clinical trial in which 46 tumor patients were recruited andtwo hospitals participated was conducted in the HIMM facility, aiming atevaluating the treatment safety and short-term efficacy of the medical *** success of the clinical trial helped the HIMM facility be authorized by theChinese government as a class III medical device. In this paper, all the aspectsmentioned above are introduced and discussed, and implications for futureimprovements are also given.

Studies have found a U-shaped relationship between sleep duration and chronic kidney disease(CKD)risk,but limited research evaluated the association of reallocating excessive sleep to other behavior with *** included 104538 participants from the nationwide cohort of the Risk Evaluation of Cancers in Chinese Diabetic Individuals:A Longitudinal Study,with self-reported time of daily-life *** isotemporal substitution models,we found that substituting 1 h of sleeping with sitting,walking,or moderate-to-vigorous physical activity was associated with a lower CKD ***-time physical activity displacement was associated with a greater prevalence reduction than occupational physical activity in working *** stratified analysis,a lower CKD prevalence related to substitution toward physical activity was found in long *** pronounced correlations were observed in long sleepers with diabetes than in those with prediabetes,and they benefited from other behavior substitutions toward a more active *** U-shaped association between sleep duration and CKD prevalence implied the potential effects of insufficient and excessive sleep on the kidneys,in which the pernicious link with oversleep could be reversed by time reallocation to physical *** divergence in the predicted effect on CKD following time reallocation to behavior of different domains and intensities and in subpopulations with diverse metabolic statuses underlined the importance of optimizing sleeping patterns and adjusting integral behavioral composition.

Tin oxide（SnO2. and fluorine doped tin oxide（FTO） films were prepared on glass substrates by sol-gel spin-coating using SnCl4 and NH4F *** doping concentration was fixed at 4 at%and 2. at%by controlling precursor sol *** exhibited the tetragonal rutile-type crystal structure regardless of fluorine *** and highly transparent FTO films,with more than 85%of optical transmittance,were obtained by annealing at 600℃.Florine doping of films was verified by analyzing the valence band region obtained by *** was found that the fluorine doping affects the shape of valence band of SnO2.*** addition,it was observed that the band gap of SnO2.is reduced as well as the Fermi level is upward shifted by the effect of fluorine doping.

Heart disease is associated with increased sympathetic nerve activity and elevated levels of circulating catecholamines,resulting in chronic stimulation of the β-adrenergic receptors (β-AR) and consequent pathological cardiac ***,chronic administration of the β-AR agonist isoproterenol (ISO) has been most commonly used to model β-AR-induced cardiac ***,it remains unclear whether β-AR-mediated cardiac remodeling and dysfunction differs between sustained versus pulsatile (intermittent) exposure to a β-***,we compare the effects of intermittent versus sustained administration of ISO on cardiac remodeling and function in *** were administered 5 mg (kg d)-1 ISO for 2.weeks either by daily subcutaneous injection,or continuous infusion via an implanted osmotic *** function and remodeling were determined by echocardiography,micromanometry and ***,Western blotting and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) were utilized to define the proteins and genes *** sustained and intermittent administration of ISO resulted in a similar degree of cardiac hypertrophy (16% and 19%,respectively).However,mice receiving ISO by daily injection developed more severe ventricular systolic and diastolic dysfunction and myocardial fibrosis compared with mice receiving ISO via the osmotic *** disparity in results between the delivery methods is suggested to be due,at least in part,to increased expression of fibrogenic factors,including connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and NADPH oxidase (NOX4),in mice receiving intermittent application of *** summary,compared with sustained exposure to a β-AR agonist,intermittent β-AR stimulation leads to more severe cardiac dysfunction and *** findings not only further our understanding of β-AR function in the setting of cardiac pathophysiology,but also highlight that significant differences can result dependent upon the mod

In this article,the post-peak softening stage of the constitutive relation and the elastic stiffness degradation of concrete are investigated,and a highly reasonable constitutive relation curve is *** the material level,the energy change in the concrete failure process is studied based on the different stress-strain curves of concrete under uniaxial tension and *** concrete failure criterion based on elastic strain energy density is deemed suitable and consistent with the experimental *** hysteresis phenomenon(lags behind the peak strength)is also *** the structure level,the strength reduction method is employed for the stability analysis,the energy change in the failure process of the Long Xi-Kou Dam is examined,and the results show that the dam failure criterion based on elastic strain energy shows a greater significance in practical applications compared with other conventional structural failure criteria in *** criterion is objective and can avoid subjective arbitrariness.

Crystallization mechanism of glass-ceramics prepared from stainless steel slag

Glass-ceramics have been prepared by using stainless steel slag, fly ash and coal fly ash that were figobtained from industrial solid waste. The crystallization behavior and mechanical characterization of the glass-ce-ramics with different （CaO ＋ MgO）/（SiO2.＋ Al2.3） content ratios were studied. While the basicity decreases from 1.2.to 0.9 cm^-3, the bridge oxygen content increases from 1.18 ~ 10^2. to 1.34 ~ 10^2. cm^-3. According to the deconvolution of Raman spectra, the relative abundance of the stretching of Si-Onb bond （Q^n units） can be obtained. The increase in the Q^3 units dominates the polymerization in the process of decreasing basicity. This change in bonding is demonstrated to lead to polymerization of the glass network and the increase in crystallization activation energy from 336.0 to 360.7 kJ·mol^-l. The results demonstrate that the production of the glass-ceramics from industrial steel slag, fly ash and coal fly ash is cost-effective and offers advantages over other production methods.

以5-羟甲基糠醛、糠胺、三氯氧磷和9,10-二氢-9-氧杂-10-磷杂菲-10-氧化物(DOPO)为原料合成了一种呋喃基磷杂菲阻燃剂(Furan-2.OPO),并利用傅里叶变换红外光谱(FTIR)、核磁共振波谱(^(1)H NMR和^(31)P NMR)对其结构进行了表征.进一步利用Furan-2.OPO对环氧树脂进行阻燃改性,得到一系列阻燃环氧固化物.考察了Furan-2.OPO的用量对阻燃环氧固化物的力学性能、热稳定性以及阻燃性能的影响.研究结果表明,当Furan-2.OPO的添加量(质量分数)仅为5%时(磷质量分数为0.47%),环氧固化物的氧指数达到31.0%,且能够通过UL-94垂直燃烧V-0级测试.与未改性环氧树脂相比,添加2.5%和5%Furan-2.OPO的环氧固化物的最大热释放速率分别下降了31%和35%.此外,2.添加Furan-2.OPO的环氧固化物的拉伸强度均比未改性环氧树脂提升了约2.%.炭层分析结果表明,Furan-2.OPO具有良好的催化成炭性能,有利于减少燃烧过程中可燃性气体的逸出,从而提升阻燃性能.

Inconsistency of changes in uniaxial compressive strength and P-wave velocity of sandstone after temperature treatments

It is generally accepted that the uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)and P-wave velocity of rocks tend to decrease simultaneously with increasing ***,based on a great number of statistical data and systematic analysis of the microstructure variation of rocks with temperature rising and corresponding propagation mechanism of elastic wave,the results show that(1)There are three different trends for the changes of UCS and P-wave velocity of sandstone when heated from room temperature(2.C or 2.C)to 800C:(i)Both the UCS and P-wave velocity decrease simultaneously;(ii)The UCS increases initially and then decreases,while the P-wave velocity decreases continuously;and(iii)The UCS increases initially and then fluctuates,while the P-wave velocity continuously decreases.(2.The UCS changes at room temperaturee400C,400Ce600C,and 600Ce800C are mainly attributed to the discrepancy of microstructure characteristics and quartz content,the transformation plasticity of clay minerals,and the balance between the thermal cementation and thermal damage,respectively.(3)The inconsistency in the trends of UCS and P-wave velocity changes is caused by the change of quartz content,phase transition of water and certain minerals.

Cyasterone inhibits IL-1β-mediated apoptosis and inflammation via the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways in rat chondrocytes and ameliorates osteoarthritis in vivo

Osteoarthritis is a prevalent global joint disease,which is characterized by inflammatory reaction and cartilage ***,a sterone derived from the roots of Cyathula officinalis Kuan,exerts protective effect against several inflammationrelated ***,its effect on osteoarthritis remains *** current study was designed to investigate the potential antiosteoarthritis activity of *** chondrocytes isolated from rats induced by interleukin(IL)-1βand a rat model stimulated by monosodium iodoacetate(MIA)were used for in vitro and in vivo experiments,*** results of in vitro experiments showed that cyasterone apparently counteracted chondrocyte apoptosis,increased the expression of collagen II and aggrecan,and restrained the production of the inflammatory factors inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS),cyclooxygenase-2.COX-2.,a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs-5(ADAMTS-5),metalloproteinase-3(MMP-3),and metalloproteinase-13(MMP13)induced by IL-1βin ***,cyasterone ameliorated the inflammation and degenerative progression of osteoarthritis potentially by regulating the nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)and mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)*** in vivo experiments,cyasterone significantly alleviated the inflammatory response and cartilage destruction of rats induced by monosodium iodoacetate,where dexamethasone was used as the positive ***,this study laid a theoretical foundation for developing cyasterone as an effective agent for the alleviation of osteoarthritis.

Lead telluride(PbTe)is one of the reliable candidates for infrared(IR)optoelectronics with optimum band-gap as well as excellent photoelectric *** interests had been paid on the growth and device applications with PbTe for the development of high-performance IR photodetectors especially those working in the near-infrared *** a great deal of effort had been made to prepare PbTe nanostructures for miniaturized detectors,it is difficult to synthesize high-quality two-dimensional(2.)PbTe crystals due to its rock-salt non-layered ***,a facile strategy for controllable synthesis of ultrathin crystalline PbTe nanosheets by van der Waals epitaxy is *** an optimized growth temperature,which determines the morphology transit from triangular pyramid islands to regular square 2. planars,PbTe nanosheets in lateral size of tens of microns with thickness down to~7 nm are ***,ultrasensitive near-infrared detectors(NIRDs)based on the as-grown 2. PbTe nanosheets have been demonstrated with an ultrahigh responsivity exceeding 3,847 A/W at the wavelength of 1,550 nm under room *** approach demonstrates that 2. PbTe nanosheets have great latent capacity of developing high-performance miniaturized IR optoelectronic devices.
