Close Relationship between the 2009 H1N1 Virus and South Dakota AIV Strains

Although previous publications suggest the 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus was reassorted from swine viruses of North America and Eurasia,the immediate ancestry still remains elusive due to the big evolutionary distance between the 2009 H1N1 virus and the previously isolated strains. Since the unveiling of the 2009 H1N1 influenza,great deal of interest has been drawn to influenza,consequently a large number of influenza virus sequences have been deposited into the public sequence databases. Blast analysis demonstrated that the recently submitted 2007 South Dakota avian influenza virus strains and other North American avian strains contained genetic segments very closely related to the 2009 H1N1 virus,which suggests these avian influenza viruses are very close relatives of the 2009 H1N1 virus. Phylogenetic analyses also indicate that the 2009 H1N1 viruses are associated with both avian and swine influenza viruses circulating in North America. Since the migrating wild birds are preferable to pigs as the carrier to spread the influenza viruses across vast distances,it is very likely that birds played an important role in the inter-continental evolution of the 2009 H1N1 virus. It is essential to understand the evolutionary route of the emerging influenza virus in order to find a way to prevent further emerging cases. This study suggests the close relationship between 2009 pandemic virus and the North America avian viruses and underscores enhanced surveillance of influenza in birds for understanding the evolution of the 2009 pandemic influenza.

To the Editor:In December 2019,coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV)happened in Wuhan,***,it has posed a worldwide public health ***-time quanti-tative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR)was recom-mended as an effective pathogen detection method and has played an important role in prevention and control of the current *** research institutions have released their primer sets for *** the variant sites were located in the primer regions,the efficiency of RT-qPCR would be reduced,thus possibly causing false negative results,and leading to unpredictable impact on the diagnosis of patients and the control of this ***,a comprehensive investigation on 2019-nCoV genome variation is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of current released RT-qPCR methods.

In the intricate process of natural product biosynthesis, a metabolon can enhance metabolic flux by associating sequential enzymes. A fungal metabolon, comprising of flavin-dependent monooxygenase Spe F and P450 monooxygenase Spe G, is identified in the biosynthesis of spiro polycyclic alkaloids(+)-notoamide B and its diastereomer(+)-versicolamide B. Using notoamide E as a substance, Spe F/Spe G metabolon can control the stereoselectivity of its 2,3-epoxidation, followed by hydrogen atom ion at C-17 to generate reactive epoxide tau-m A with dienyl iminium unit. Subsequently,(+)-notoamide B and(+)-versicolamide B are produced via tandem nonenzymatic inverse-electron-demand Diels-Alder reaction and semipinacol rearrangement. This provides the first example of metabolon in the biosynthesis of spiro-prenylated indole alkaloids.

Molecular simulation study of the microstructures and properties of pyridinium ionic liquid[HPy][BF_(4)]mixed with acetonitrile

The microstructures and thermodynamic properties of mixed systems comprising pyridinium ionic liquid[HPy][BF_(4)]and acetonitrile at different mole fractions were studied using molecular dynamics simulation in this *** following properties were determined:density,self-diffusion coefficient,excess molar volume,and radial distribution *** results show that with an increase in the mole fraction of[HPy][BF_(4)],the self-diffusion coefficient ***,the excess molar volume initially decreases,reaches a minimum,and then *** rules of radial distribution functions(RDFs)of characteristic atoms are *** increasing the mole fraction of[HPy][BF_(4)],the first peak of the RDFs of HA1-F decreases,while that of CT6-CT6 rises at first and then *** indicates that the solvent molecules affect the polar and non-polar regions of[HPy][BF_(4)]differently.

Batch process monitoring based on multilevel ICA-PCA

In this paper, we describe a new batch process monitoring method based on multilevel independent component analysis and principal component analysis (MLICA-PCA). Unlike the conventional multi-way principal component analysis (MPCA) method, MLICA-PCA provides a separated interpretation for multilevel batch process data. Batch process data are partitioned into two levels: the within-batch level and the between-batch level. In each level, the Gaussian and non-Gaussian components of process information can be separately extracted. I2, T2 and SPE statistics are individually built and monitored. The new method facilitates fault diagnosis. Since the two variation levels are decomposed, the variables responsible for faults in each level can be identified and interpreted more easily. A case study of the Dupont benchmark process showed that the proposed method was more efficient and interpretable in fault detection and diagnosis, compared to the alternative batch process monitoring method.

Analysis of Key Disciplinary Parameters in Floating Offshore Wind Turbines with An AI-Based SADA Method

Floating offshore wind turbines(FOWTs)are a promising offshore renewable energy harvesting facility but requesting multiple-disciplinary analysis for their dynamic performance ***,engineering-fidelity level tools and the empirical parameters pose challenges due to the strong nonlinear coupling effects of FOWTs.A novel method,named SADA,was proposed by Chen and Hu(2021)for optimizing the design and dynamic performance prediction of FOWTs in combination with AI *** the SADA method,the concept of Key Disciplinary Parameters(KDPs)is also proposed,and it is of crucial importance in the SADA *** purpose of this paper is to make an in-depth investigation of the characters of KDPs and the internal correlations between different KDPs in the dynamic performance prediction of ***,a brief description of SADA is given,and the basin experimental data are used to conduct the training process of ***,categories and boundary conditions of KDPs are *** types of KDPs are given,and different boundary conditions are used to analyze *** results show that the wind and current in Environmental KDPs are strongly correlated with the percentage difference of dynamic response rather than that by wave *** general,the optimization results of SADA consider the specific basin environment and the coupling results between different KDPs help the designers further understand the factors that have a more significant impact on the FOWTs system in a specific domain.

The Compressibility of Checkerboard Surfaces of Link Diagrams

Consider the checkerboard surfaces defined by some link diagrams. When they are not orientable, one considers the boundary surfaces of small regular neighborhoods of them. This article studies the compressibility problem of these kinds of surfaces in the link complements. The problem is solved by devising a normalization theory for the compressing discs, which brings up an algorithm to read out compressibility directly from the link diagrams. As an application of the algorithm, the compressibility changes under Reidermeister moves are studied. Diagrams from the knot tables are also studied, and surprisingly, some of them are shown to define completely compressible surfaces of this kind. Infinitely many examples of non-alternating knot diagrams with incompressible surfaces of this kind are also constructed.

Recent progress in nuclear data measurement for ADS at IMP

Recent progress in nuclear data measurement for ADS at Institute of Modern Physics is reviewed *** on the cooler storage ring of the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou, nuclear data terminal was *** nuclear data measurement facility for the ADS spallation target has been constructed, which provides a very important platform for the experimental measurements of spallation reactions. A number of experiments have been conducted in the nuclear data terminal. A Neutron Time-of-Flight(NTOF)spectrometer was developed for the study of neutron production from spallation reactions related to the ADS *** experiments of 400 MeV/u ^(16)O bombarded on a tungsten target were presented using a NTOF *** yields for 250 MeV protons incident on a thick grain-made tungsten target and a thick solid lead target have been measured using the water-bath neutron activation method. Spallation residual productions were studied by bombarding W and Pb targets with a 250 MeV proton beam using the neutron activation method. Benchmarking of evaluated nuclear data libraries was performed for D-T neutrons on ADS relevant materials by using the benchmark experimental facility at the China Institute of Atomic Energy.

Numerical solution of potential flow equations with a predictor-corrector finite difference method

We develop a numerical solution algorithm of the nonlinear potential flow equations with the nonlinear free surface boundary condition.A finite difference method with a predictor-corrector method is applied to solve the nonlinear potential flow equations in a two-dimensional (2D) *** irregular tank is mapped onto a fixed square domain with rectangular cells through a proper mapping function.A staggered mesh system is adopted in a 2D tank to capture the wave elevation of the transient *** finite difference method with a predictor-corrector scheme is applied to discretize the nonlinear dynamic boundary condition and nonlinear kinematic boundary *** present the numerical results of wave elevations from small to large amplitude waves with free oscillation motion,and the numerical solutions of wave elevation with horizontal excited *** beating period and the nonlinear phenomenon are very *** numerical solutions agree well with the analytical solutions and previously published results.
