BACKGROUND Heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein A1(hnRNPA1)has been reported to enhance the Warburg effect and promote colon cancer(CC)cell proliferation,but the role and mechanism of the miR-490-3p/hnRNPA1-b/PKM2 axis in CC have not yet been elucidated.AIM To investigate the role and mechanism of a novel miR-490-3p/hnRNPA1-b/PKM2 axis in enhancing the Warburg effect and promoting CC cell proliferation through the PI3K/AKT pathway.METHODS Paraffin-embedded pathological sections from 220 CC patients were collected and subjected to immunohistochemical analysis to determine the expression of hnRNPA1-b.The relationship between the expression values and the clinicopathological features of the patients was investigated.Differences in mRNA expression were analyzed using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction,while differences in protein expression were analyzed using western blot.Cell proliferation was evaluated using the cell counting kit-8 and 5-ethynyl-2’-deoxyuridine assays,and cell cycle and apoptosis were detected using flow cytometric assays.The targeted binding of miR-490-3p to hnRNPA1-b was validated using a dual luciferase reporter assay.The Warburg effect was evaluated by glucose uptake and lactic acid production assays.RESULTS The expression of hnRNPA1-b was significantly increased in CC tissues and cells compared to normal controls(P<0.05).Immunohistochemical results demonstrated significant variations in the expression of the hnRNPA1-b antigen in different stages of CC,including stage I,II-III,and IV.Furthermore,the clinicopathologic characterization revealed a significant correlation between hnRNPA1-b expression and clinical stage as well as T classification.HnRNPA1-b was found to enhance the Warburg effect through the PI3K/AKT pathway,thereby promoting proliferation of HCT116 and SW620 cells.However,the proliferation of HCT116 and SW620 cells was inhibited when miR-490-3p targeted and bound to hnRNPA1-b,effectively blocking the Warburg effect.CONCLUSION These findings suggest that the novel miR-490-

Spur Gear Tooth Pitting Propagation Assessment Using Model-based Analysis

Tooth pitting is a common failure mode of a gearbox. Many researchers investigated dynamic properties of a gearbox with localized pitting damage on a single gear tooth. The dynamic properties of a gearbox with pitting distributed over multiple teeth have rarely been investi- gated. In this paper, gear tooth pitting propagation to neighboring teeth is modeled and investigated for a pair of spur gears. Tooth pitting propagation effect on time-vary- ing mesh stiffness, gearbox dynamics and vibration char- acteristics is studied and then fault symptoms are revealed. In addition, the influence of gear mesh damping and environmental noise on gearbox vibration properties is investigated. In the end, 114 statistical features are tested to estimate tooth pitting growth. Statistical features that are insensitive to gear mesh damping and environmental noise are recommended.

Chinese Internet Searches Provide Inaccurate and Misleading Information to Epilepsy Patients

Background： Most patients with epilepsy want to learn as much as possible about the disease, and many have turned to the internet for information. Patients are likely to use information obtained from the internet to control their epilepsy, but little is known about the accuracy of this information. In this survey, we have assessed the feasibility and usability ofinternet-based interventions for the treatment of epilepsy. Methods： Data were collected from an internet search. Different search terms were used to obtain general information on epilepsy together with information about medication, types of epilepsy, treatment, women＇s health, and other information. The accuracy of the information was evaluated by a group of experts. Results： A total of 1320 web pages were assessed. The majority were websites related to health. A large number （80.2%） of web pages contained content related to the search term. A significant number of web pages 450/1058 （42.5%） claimed to provide information from a credible source： however, only 206/1058 （19.5%） of the information was accurate and complete; 326/1058 （30.8%） was accurate but incomplete; 328/1058 （31.0%） was correct but nonstandard, and 198/1058 （18.8%） was inaccurate. The authenticity of the information was not significantly different between the two search engines （x^2 = 0.009, P - 0.924）. No significant difference was observed in the information obtained from a specialist or nonspecialist source （x^2 = 7.538, P- 0.057）. There was also no correlation between the quality of the information and the priority （x^2 = 6.880, P = 0,076）. Conclusions： Searching for information about epilepsy on the internet is convenient, but the information provided is not reliable. Too much information is inaccurate or for advertisement purposes, and it is difficult for patients to find the useful information. Turning to the internet for medical knowledge may be harmful. Physicians should be aware that their patients may search for information on the internet and guide them to safe, reputable web

Clinicopathological Study of Sporadic Burkitt Lymphoma in Children

Background：Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is the fourth most common malignant tumors in children,Burkitt lymphoma （BL） accounts for 30-50％ of all pediatric lymphomas.The aim of this study was to investigate the clinicopathologic features,immunophenotype,Epstein-Barr virus （EBV） infection and c-myc gene rearrangement of sporadic BL in children.Methods：Ninety-two cases of pediatric BL were retrospectively analyzed for clinical features,immunohistochemistry,EBV-encoded RNA （EBER） status by in situ hybridization and c-myc gene rearrangement by fluorescence in situ hybridization.Results：In the 92 cases,male is predominant in sex distribution （M：F =3.38：1）.The average age at diagnosis was 4.97 years.Polypoid BL showed a lower clinical stage （P =0.002）,and advanced clinical stage and low serum albumin level at diagnosis were associated with poor outcome （P =0.024 and 0.053,respectively）.The positive expression of CD10,B-cell lymphoma-6,MUM1 and EBER were 95.7％（88 cases）,92.4％（85 cases）,22.8％（21 cases）,41.3％（38 cases）,respectively.The expression of MUM1 were not associated with EBV infection status （P =1.000）.c-myc gene rearrangement was detected in 94.6％（87/92）.Clinical treatment information for 54 cases was collected,21 patients died of tumor after surgery alone,33 patients received surgery and chemotherapy,and of which six patients died shortly afterwords （MUM 1 positive expression in 3 cases,P =0.076）.Conclusions：The anatomical location,growth pattern and serum albumin level of BL were associated with biological behavior.MUM1 may be a potential adverse prognostic marker,and not associated with EBV infection status.

Impact of uterine artery embolization on ovarian function and pregnancy outcome after uterine-fibroids treatment:A prospective study

Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that originate from smooth muscle cells of the uterus.It is the most common gynecological disorder,affecting up to 80%of women of reproductive age.Uterine fibroids can cause various symptoms such as abnormal uterine bleeding,pelvic pain,infertility,and pregnancy complications.The treatment options for uterine fibroids include medical therapy,surgical intervention,and minimally invasive techniques.AIM To compare ovarian function of women with uterine fibroids who did or did not undergo uterine artery embolization(UAE).METHODS This prospective cohort study enrolled 87 women with symptomatic uterine fibroids who underwent UAE,and 87 women with the same symptoms who did not undergo UAE but received conservative management or other treatments.The two groups were matched for age,body mass index,parity,and baseline characteristics of uterine fibroids.The primary outcome was ovarian function that was evaluated by serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),estradiol(E2),and anti-Müllerian hormone(AMH),as well as ovarian reserve tests,such as antral follicle count(AFC)and ovarian volume(OV).The secondary outcome was fertility that was evaluated based on the menstrual cycle,ovulation,conception,pregnancy,and delivery.The participants were followed-up for 36 months and assessed at 1,3,6,12,24,and 36 months after treatment.RESULTS The study found that the most common minor complication of UAE was postembolization syndrome in 73.6% of women,resolving within a week.No significant differences were observed between the UAE group and the control group in serum levels of reproductive hormones(FSH,LH,E2,AMH)and ovarian reserve indicators(AFC,OV)at any point up to 36 months post-treatment.Additionally,there were no significant differences in conception,pregnancy,or delivery rates,with the average time to conception and gestational age at delivery being similar between the two groups.Birth weights were also comparable.Finally,there was no significant correlation between

Risk of cardiovascular death in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma based on the Fine-Gray model

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most common types of cancers worldwide,ranking fifth among men and seventh among women,resulting in more than 7 million deaths annually.With the development of medical tech-nology,the 5-year survival rate of HCC patients can be increased to 70%.How-ever,HCC patients are often at increased risk of cardiovascular disease(CVD)death due to exposure to potentially cardiotoxic treatments compared with non-HCC patients.Moreover,CVD and cancer have become major disease burdens worldwide.Thus,further research is needed to lessen the risk of CVD death in HCC patient survivors.METHODS This study was conducted on the basis of the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results database and included HCC patients with a diagnosis period from 2010 to 2015.The independent risk factors were identified using the Fine-Gray model.A nomograph was constructed to predict the CVM in HCC patients.The nomograph performance was measured using Harrell’s concordance index(C-index),calibration curve,receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve,and area under the ROC curve(AUC)value.Moreover,the net benefit was estimated via decision curve analysis(DCA).RESULTS The study included 21545 HCC patients,of whom 619 died of CVD.Age(5 cm:2.090(1.543-2.830),P<0.001],surgery(no)[0.376(0.297-0.476),P<0.001],and chemotherapy(none/unknown)[0.578(0.472-0.709),P<0.001]were independent risk factors for CVD death in HCC patients.The discrimination and calibration of the nomograph were better.The C-index values for the training and validation sets were 0.736 and 0.665,respectively.The AUC values of the ROC curves at 2,4,and 6 years were 0.702,0.725,0.740 in the training set and 0.697,0.710,0.744 in the validation set,respectively.The calibration curves showed that the predicted probab-ilities of the CVM prediction

A Dual-Task Learning Approach for Bearing Anomaly Detection and State Evaluation of Safe Region

Predictive maintenance has emerged as an effective tool for curbing maintenance costs,yet prevailing research predominantly concentrates on the abnormal phases.Within the ostensibly stable healthy phase,the reliance on anomaly detection to preempt equipment malfunctions faces the challenge of sudden anomaly discernment.To address this challenge,this paper proposes a dual-task learning approach for bearing anomaly detection and state evaluation of safe regions.The proposed method transforms the execution of the two tasks into an optimization issue of the hypersphere center.By leveraging the monotonicity and distinguishability pertinent to the tasks as the foundation for optimization,it reconstructs the SVDD model to ensure equilibrium in the model’s performance across the two tasks.Subsequent experiments verify the proposed method’s effectiveness,which is interpreted from the perspectives of parameter adjustment and enveloping trade-offs.In the meantime,experimental results also show two deficiencies in anomaly detection accuracy and state evaluation metrics.Their theoretical analysis inspires us to focus on feature extraction and data collection to achieve improvements.The proposed method lays the foundation for realizing predictive maintenance in a healthy stage by improving condition awareness in safe regions.

Synthesis of chitosan-based grafting magnetic flocculants for flocculation of kaolin suspensions

A series of novel chitosan-based magnetic flocculants FS@CTS-P(AM-DMC)was prepared by molecular structure control.The characterization results showed that FS@CTS-P(AM-DMC)had a uniform size of about 21.46 nm,featuring a typical core-shell structure,and the average coating layer thickness of CTS-P(AM-DMC)was about 5.03 nm.FS@CTS-P(AM-DMC)exhibited excellent flocculation performance for kaolin suspension,achieved 92.54% turbidity removal efficiency under dosage of 150 mg/L,pH 7.0,even at high turbidity(2000 NTU)with a removal efficiency of 96.96%.The flocculation mechanism was revealed to be dominated by charge neutralization under acidic and neutral conditions,while adsorption and bridging effects play an important role in alkaline environments.The properties of magnetic aggregates during flocculation,breakage,and regeneration were studied at different pH levels and dosages.In the process of magnetophoretic,magnetic particles collide and adsorb with kaolin particles continuously due to magnetic and electrostatic attraction,transform into magnetic chain clusters,and then further form three-dimensional network magnetic aggregates that can capture free kaolin particles and other chain clusters.Particle image velocimetry confirmed the formation of eddy current of magnetic flocs and experienced three stages:acceleration,stabilization,and deceleration.

Temozolomide(TMZ)represents a standard-of-care chemotherapeutic agent in glioblastoma(GBM).However,the development of drug resistance constitutes a significant hurdle in the treatment of malignant glioma.Although specific innovative approaches,such as immunotherapy,have shown favorable clinical outcomes,the inherent invasiveness of most gliomas continues to make them challenging to treat.Consequently,there is an urgent need to identify effective therapeutic targets for gliomas to overcome chemoresistance and facilitate drug development.This investigation used mass spectrometry to examine the proteomic profiles of six pairs of GBM patients who underwent standard-of-care treatment and surgery for both primary and recurrent tumors.A total of 648 proteins exhibiting significant differential expression were identified.Gene Set Enrichment Analysis(GSEA)unveiled notable alterations in pathways related to METABOLISM_OF_LIPIDS and BIOLOGICAL_OXIDATIONS between the primary and recurrent groups.Validation through glioma tissue arrays and the Xiangya cohort confirmed substantial upregulation of inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate(IP3)kinase B(ITPKB)in the recurrence group,correlating with poor survival in glioma patients.In TMZ-resistant cells,the depletion of ITPKB led to an increase in reactive oxygen species(ROS)related to NADPH oxidase(NOX)activity and restored cell sensitivity to TMz.Mechanistically,the decreased phosphorylation of the E3 ligase Trim25 at the S100 position in recurrent GBM samples accounted for the weakened ITPKB ubiquitination.This,in turn,elevated ITPKB stability and impaired ROS production.Furthermore,ITPKB depletion or the ITPKB inhibitor GNF362 effectively overcome TMZ chemoresistance in a glioma xenograft mouse model.These findings reveal a novel mechanism underlying TMZ resistance and propose ITPKB as a promising therapeutic target forTMZ-resistant GBM.

Review and comparison of methods and benchmarks for automatic modal identification based on stabilization diagram

Automatic modal identification via automatically interpreting the stabilization diagram provides key technique in bridge structural health monitoring.This paper reviews the progress in the area of automatic modal identification based on interpreting the stabilization diagram.The whole identification process is divided into four steps from establishing the stabilization diagram to removing the outliers in the identification results.The criteria and algorithms used in each step in the existing studies are carefully summarized and classified.Comparisons between typical methods in cleaning and interpreting the stabilization diagram are also conducted.Real structure benchmarks used in the existing studies to validate the proposed automatic modal identification methods are also summarized.Based on the review and comparison,the specific ratio method for cleaning the stabilization diagram,the hierarchical clustering method for interpreting the stabilization diagram and the adjusted boxplot for removing the outliers in the identification results are the most suitable methods for each step.The key point of automatic modal identification based on interpreting the stabilization diagram has also discussed,and it is recommended to pay more attention to cleaning the stabilization diagram.Future study about automatic modal identification under situation with very few sensors deployed should be more concerned.This review aims to help researchers and practitioners in implementing existing automatic modal identification algorithms effectively and developing more suitable and practical methods for civil engineering structures in the future.
