Chemoselective,living/controlled polymerizations of allyl methacrylate(AMA) and vinyl methacrylate(VMA) with/without methyl methacrylate(MMA) by using the phosphonium ylide/organoaluminum based Lewis pairs(LPs) have been realized.The P-ylide-2/AIMe(BHT)_(2)(Pylide-2=Ph_(3)P=CHMe and BHT=2,6-iBu_(2)-4-MeC_(6)H_(2)O) was demonstrated to be superior by which homopolymers PAMAs(M_(n)=27.6-111.5kg/mol and ■=1.14-1.25) and PVMAs(M_(n)=28.4-78.4 kg/mol and ■=1.12-1.18) and block copolymers PMMA-b-PAMA,PAMA-b-PVMA,PAMA-bPMMA,PMMA-b-PAMA-b-PMMA,PAMA-b-PMMA-b-PAMA,and PAMA-b-PVMA-b-PAMA were synthesized.In the polymerizations,all of the monomers were reacted by the conjugated ester vinyl groups leaving intactly the nonconjugated acryloxy groups.The pendant acryloxy groups attached to the main chain enable further to post-functionalization by the AIBN-induced radical "thiol-ene" reaction using PhCH_(2)SH.The thiolether side group-containing polymers PAMA-SCH_(2)Ph and PAMA-SCH_(2)Ph-b-PMMA-b-PAMA-SCH_(2)Ph were thus prepared.

Erythropoietin-producing hepatoma(EPH) receptors are considered the largest family of receptor tyrosine kinases and play key roles in physiological and pathologic processes in development and disease.EPH receptors are often overexpressed in human malignancies and are associated with poor prognosis.However,the functions of EPH receptors in epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) remain largely unknown.This review depicts the relationship between EPH receptors and the EMT marker E-cadherin as well as the crosstalk between EPH receptors and the signaling pathways involved EMT.Further discussion is focused on the clinical significance of EPH receptors as candidates for targeting in cancer therapeutics.Finally,we summarize how targeted inhibition of both EPH receptors and EMT-related signaling pathways represents a novel strategy for cancer treatment.

The effect of platelet-rich plasma on nerve regeneration remains controversial.In this study,we established a rabbit model of sciatic nerve small-gap defects with preserved epineurium and then filled the gaps with platelet-rich plasma.Twenty-eight rabbits were divided into the following groups(7 rabbits/group):model,low-concentrati on PRP(2.5-3.5-fold concentration of whole blood platelets),medium-concentration PRP(4.5-6.5-fold concentration of whole blood platelets),and high-concentration PRP(7.5-8.5-fold concentration of whole blood platelets).Electrophysiological and histomorphometrical assessments and proteomics analysis we re used to evaluate regeneration of the sciatic nerve.Our results showed that platelet-rich plasma containing 4.5-6.5-and 7.5-8.5-fold concentrations of whole blood platelets promoted repair of sciatic nerve injury.Proteomics analysis was performed to investigate the possible mechanism by which platelet-rich plasma promoted nerve regeneration.Proteomics analysis showed that after sciatic nerve injury,platelet-rich plasma increased the expression of integrin subunitβ-8(ITGB8),which participates in angiogenesis,and differentially expressed proteins were mainly enriched in focal adhesion pathways.Additionally,two key proteins,ribosomal protein S27 a(RSP27 a)and ubiquilin 1(UBQLN1),which were selected after protein-protein interaction analysis,are involved in the regulation of ubiquitin levels in vivo.These data suggest that platelet-rich plasma promotes peripheral nerve regeneration after sciatic nerve injury by affecting angiogenesis and intracellular ubiquitin levels.

Epimedin B(EB)is one of the main flavonoid ingredients present in Epimedium brevicornum Maxim.,a traditional herb widely used in China.Our previous study showed that EB was a stronger inducer of melanogenesis and an activator of tyrosinase(TYR).However,the role of EB in melanogenesis and the mechanism underlying the regulation remain unclear.Herein,as an extension to our previous investigation,we provide comprehensive evidence of EB-induced pigmentation in vivo and in vitro and elucidate the melanogenesis mechanism by assessing its effects on the TYR family of proteins(TYRs)in terms of expression,activity,and stability.The results showed that EB increased TYRs expression through microphthalmia-associated transcription factor-mediated p-Akt(referred to as protein kinase B(PKB))/glycogen synthase kinase 3β(GSK3β)/β-catenin,p-p70 S6 kinase cascades,and protein 38(p38)/mitogen-activated protein(MAP)kinase(MAPK)and extracellular regulated protein kinases(ERK)/MAPK pathways,after which EB increased the number of melanosomes and promoted their maturation for melanogenesis in melanoma cells and human primary melanocytes/skin tissues.Furthermore,EB exerted repigmentation by stimulating TYR activity in hydroquinone-and N-phenylthiourea-induced TYR inhibitive models,including melanoma cells,zebrafish,and mice.Finally,EB ameliorated monobenzone-induced depigmentation in vitro and in vivo through the enhancement of TYRs stability by inhibiting TYR misfolding,TYR-related protein 1 formation,and retention in the endoplasmic reticulum and then by downregulating the ubiquitination and proteolysis processes.These data conclude that EB can target TYRs and alter their expression,activity,and stability,thus stimulating their pigmentation function,which might provide a novel rational strategy for hypopigmentation treatment in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

AIM:To explore ocular surface manifestations of dry eye disease(DED)and its influencing factors in systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)patients.METHODS:Ophthalmological examinations were conducted in SLE patients(n=43)and controls(n=41),including Ocular Surface Disease Index(OSDI),objective scatter index(OSI),tear meniscus height(TMH),lipid layer thickness(LLT),non-invasive Keratograph tear breakup time(NIKBUT),corneal fluorescein score(CFS),Schirmer I test.DED was diagnosed according to the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society Dry Eye Workshop II Criteria.SLE patients were further divided into DED group and non-DED group,the disease activity,clinical manifestations and laboratory investigations were compared between the two groups.The disease activity was evaluated by Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index 2000(SLEDAI-2K).Receiver operative characteristic(ROC)curve and multiplefactor binary logistic regression were performed.RESULTS:SLE patients showed higher OSDI[9.1(2.8-15.9)vs 6.3(2.2-7.5),P=0.035],higher OSI[1.67(1.09-2.60)vs 0.96(0.87-1.60),P=0.001],higher CFS[1(0-2)vs 0(0-1),P=0.001],lower LLT[65(42-100)vs 100(79.5-100),P=0.010],and lower NIKBUT[8.03(4.02-9.73)vs 9.67(5.26-12.71),P=0.030]than controls.The 32.6%of SLE patients had DED,which was higher than 12.2%of healthy controls.DED group showed higher SLEDAI-2K score[9.7±6.1 vs 5.4±3.4,P=0.025],higher anti-cardiolipin antibody(ACL)[8.7(3.5-13.2)vs 3.6(2.0-6.9),P=0.035],and higher proportion of patients with cutaneous eruption[42.9%vs 6.9%,P=0.015]than non-DED group.According to multiple-factor binary logistic regression analysis,the SLEDAI-2K score(OR=1.194,P=0.041)and cutaneous eruption(OR=7.094,P=0.045)could be consider as risk factors for DED in SLE patients.The ROC curve of the combined factors including age,disease duration,SLEDAI-2K score,ACL,and cutaneous eruption was analyzed,with a sensitivity of 0.786,a specificity of 0.793,and an area under curve of 0.820.CONCLUSION:Ocular surface affection is frequent in SLE patients,and patients wi

Background Acute normovolemic hemodilution(ANH)was first introduced in glioblastoma surgery,and its role in reducing allogeneic blood transfusion was investigated in this study.Methods This study enrolled supratentorial glioblastoma patients who received total resection.In the ANH group,the patients were required to draw blood before the operation,and the blood will be transfused back to the patient during the operation.The association between ANH and clinical features was investigated.Results Sixty supratentorial glioblastoma patients were enrolled in this study,25 patients were allocated in the ANH group,and another 35 patients were included in the control group.ANH dramatically reduced the need for allogeneic blood transfusion(3[12%]vs 12[34.3%],P=0.049),and the blood transfusion per total of patients was dramatically decreased by the application of ANH(0.40±1.15 units vs 1.06±1.59 units,P=0.069).Furthermore,ANH also markedly reduced the requirement of fresh frozen plasma(FFP)transfusion(2[8%]vs 11[31.4%],P=0.030)and the volume of FFP transfusion per total of patients(32.00±114.46 mL vs 115.71±181.00 mL,P=0.033).The complication rate was similar between the two groups.Conclusions ANH was a safe and effective blood conservation technique in glioblastoma surgery.

Grain boundary(GB),as a kind of lattice defect,widely exists in two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides(2D TMDs),which has complex and diverse influences on the physical/chemical properties of 2D TMDs.GBs are universally considered to be a double-edged sword,although some electrical and mechanical properties of 2D TMDs would be adversely affected leading to the reduced overall quality,certain structure-oriented applications could be realized based on its unique properties.In this review,we first detailed the atomic structure characteristics of GBs and the corresponding techniques,then we systematically summarized the methods of introducing GBs into 2D TMDs.Next,we expounded unique electrical,mechanical,and chemical properties of the GBs in 2D TMDs and clarified its internal relationship with the atomic structure.Moreover,the application of GB structure in hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is also discussed.In the end,we make a conclusion and put forward outlooks,hoping to further promote the basic research of GB and boost the wide application of 2D TMDs.

Coupling and coordinated evolution characteristics of regional economy-energy-carbon emission multiple systems:A case study of main China's Basin

Comprehensive analysis of the Economy-Energy-Carbon Emission(EECE)system is beneficial for promoting sustainable social development.This study analyzes the system development of major watersheds in China from 2010 to 2019.The research fully considers the system’s internal and external inputs and outputs and proposes an evaluation index system for regional EECE coupling and coordinated development.Then,using the difference in system weight allocation to improve the coupling and coordination model,the study explores the dynamic system’s coupling and coordination.The results show that(1)The development of the system structure is relatively stable,but the overall development status is not ideal;(2)The downstream of China’s main river basins has obvious economic advantages,while the energy system fluctuates greatly.The efficiency of the carbon emission system will decrease in areas with rapid economic development.The coupling and coordination level of the EECE system is better in the Yangtze River Basin than in the Yellow River Basin;(3)From the perspective of dynamic coordinated development,the main river basins have been divided into two states since 2012,but it is relatively stable overall.Regional dynamic coordination is often at a disadvantage in regions with rapid economic and energy development;(4)The coupling coordination degree of the two river basins has significant positive spatial autocorrelation.Most provinces’significant spatial clustering characteristics of the coupling coordination degree are High-High type.Low-Low type provinces are mainly concentrated downstream.The research process has certain reference significance for the collaborative governance of complex regional systems.

We previously demonstrated that normal high-density lipoprotein(nHDL)can promote angiogenesis,whereas HDL from patients with coronary artery disease(d HDL)is dysfunctional and impairs angiogenesis.Autophagy plays a critical role in angiogenesis,and HDL regulates autophagy.However,it is unclear whether n HDL and d HDL regulate angiogenesis by affecting autophagy.Endothelial cells(ECs)were treated with n HDL and d HDL with or without an autophagy inhibitor.Autophagy,endothelial nitric oxide synthase(e NOS)expression,miRNA expression,nitric oxide(NO)production,superoxide anion(O2^(·-))generation,EC migration,and tube formation were evaluated.n HDL suppressed the expression of miR-181a-5p,which promotes autophagy and the expression of e NOS,resulting in NO production and the inhibition of O2^(·-)generation,and ultimately increasing in EC migration and tube formation.d HDL showed opposite effects compared to n HDL and ultimately inhibited EC migration and tube formation.We found that autophagy-related protein 5(ATG5)was a direct target of miR-181a-5p.ATG5 silencing or miR-181a-5p mimic inhibited n HDL-induced autophagy,e NOS expression,NO production,EC migration,tube formation,and enhanced O2^(·-)generation,whereas overexpression of ATG5 or miR-181a-5p inhibitor reversed the above effects of d HDL.ATG5 expression and angiogenesis were decreased in the ischemic lower limbs of hypercholesterolemic low-density lipoprotein receptor null(LDLr^(-/-))mice when compared to C57BL/6 mice.ATG5 overexpression improved angiogenesis in ischemic hypercholesterolemic LDLr^(-/-)mice.Taken together,nHDL was able to stimulate autophagy by suppressing miR-181a-5p,subsequently increasing e NOS expression,which generated NO and promoted angiogenesis.In contrast,d HDL inhibited angiogenesis,at least partially,by increasing miR-181a-5p expression,which decreased autophagy and e NOS expression,resulting in a decrease in NO production and an increase in O2^(·-)generation.Our findings reveal a novel mechanism by which HDL affects angiogenesis b

Hydrothermal synthesis of polyimide-linked covalent organic frameworks towards ultrafast and stable cathodic sodium storage

Redox-active organic materials are capturing growing attention as cathode materials for sustainable alkaline metal ion batteries.However,the storage of Na+in most organic materials-based cathodes is plagued by low capacity and unsatisfying rate performance due to their low active site densities and limited exposed active sites.Herein,two polyimide-linked covalent organic frameworks(COFs),namely HATN-PD-COF and HATN-TAB-COF,were fabricated from hydrothermal synthesis with redoxactive triphenylene-2,3,6,7,10,11-hexacarboxylic acid and aromatic amines as starting materials.Powder X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy analysis indicate the high crystalline nature of these COFs with AA stacking configuration and orderly mesoporous tunnel.N_(2) sorption measurement discloses the permanent porosity of these two COFs with a Brunauer-EmmettTeller surface area of 1,065-1,200 m^(2)g^(-1)and a large pore size of 2.0-3.1 nm.Galvanostatic intermittent titration technique and density functional theory calculations reveal the facile Na+ion diffusion along the mesoporous tunnel of these COFs with a small energy barrier of 0.13-0.40 e V.In particular,the as-prepared COFs based-cathodes show ultrafast and stable Na+storage associated with their conjugated electronic structure,highly ordered mesoporous tunnel,robust structure,and redox-active C=N/C=O-rich framework as exemplified by the high reversible capacity of 210 m A h g^(-1)at 200 m A g^(-1),record-high rate performance(195 m A h g^(-1)at a high current density of 10,000 m A g^(-1))among organic electrodes and the capacity retention of nearly 91%at 10,000 m A g^(-1)after 7,000 cycles for HATN-PD-COF.
