The generation and propagation characteristics of bright spatial bound-soliton pairs (BSPs) are investigated under the diffusion effect in photovoltaic photorefractive crystals by numerical simulation. The results show that two coherent solitons, one as the signal light and the other as the control light, can form a BSP when the peak intensity of the control light is appropriately selected. Moreover, under the diffusion effect, the BSP experiences a self-bending process during propagating and the center of the BSP moves on a parabolic trajectory. Furthermore, the lateral shift of the BSP at the output face of the crystal can be manipulated by adjusting the peak intensity of the control light. The research results provide a method for the design of all-optical switching and routing based on the manipulation of the lateral position of BSPs.

The cathode passivation induced by the accumulated solid products is a serious issue which impede the application of Li-O_(2) ***,we applied Ga-In liquid metal(Ga-In LM)functionalized cathode to alleviate the cathode passivation by using the fluidity and self-healing surface of Ga-In LM microdrops,which could hardly be covered by the solid discharge products,such as Li_(2)O_(2) and LiOH during charge/discharge cycles.

The quantitative analysis of substructure in the martensite/bainite mixed structure, which is obtained from low-carbon NiCrMoV steels under different cooling conditions, was made by means of optical microscope （OM）, scanning electron microscope （SEM）, electron backscatter diffraction （EBSD）, and transmission electron microscope （TEM）, in order to research the effect on toughness. The test results indicate that the toughness of the steel is en- hanced with the decrease in the packet and block size under the condition of the same prior austenite grain size mixed with different ratios of martensite and bainite while the lath width is about 0.38μm. The calculation shows that both the packet and block boundaries have the same hindering effect on crack extension. Furthermore, the effect of the block width on impact energy is much larger than that of the packet. Therefore, the block can be used as microstruc- tural substructure to affect the toughness in low-carbon martensite steels, suggesting that the block size is ＂the effective grain size＂ for controlling toughness.

The particle velocity contours were obtained by tracking the tracer particles in the raceway region of the COREX melter gasifier model and the contours were irregular. According to the fractal theory, the fractal dimen sions of different particle velocity contours were determined. Through the analysis of the fractal dimensions, a new method for precise determination of the raceway boundary was proposed. The results show that, when the velocity is less than 0.18 m/s, the particles are located in the stagnant zone and the fractal dimensions of particle velocity con- tours are almost constant as 1.41; when the velocity increases from 0.18 to 0.83 m/s, the particles are located in the rapid movement zone and the fractal dimensions decrease gradually from 1.41 to 1.05 ＇when the velocity is grea- ter than 0.83 m/s, the particles are located in the cavity zone and the fractal dimensions are again almost constant as approaching to 1.00. Therefore, the velocity contour of 0.18 m/s, which is critical to distinguish the rapid move- ment zone and stagnant zone, can be used to define the raceway boundary. Based on this method, the effect of blo wing rate on raceway size was calculated and the results show that the penetration depth and height of the raceway increase with the increase of blowing rate.

Mathematical Modeling of Multi-sized Argon Gas Bubbles Motion and Its Impact on Melt Flow in Continuous Casting Mold of Steel

The 3D turbulence k-ε model flow of the steel melt （continuous phase） and the trajectories of individual gas bubbles （dispersed phase） in a continuous casting mold were simulated using an Eulerian-Lagrangian approach. In order to investigate the effect of bubble size distribution, the radii of bubbles are set with an initial value of 0. 1- 2.5 mm which follows the normal distribution. The presented results indicate that, in the submerged entry nozzle （SEN）, the distribution of void fraction is only near the wall. Due to the fact that the bubbles motion is only limited to the wall, the deoxidization products have no access to contacting the wall, which prevents clogging. In the mold, the bubbles with a radius of 0. 25--2.5 mm will move to the top surface. Larger bubbles issuing out of the ports will attack the menis- cus and induce the fluid flows upwards in the top surface near the nozzle. It may induce mold powder entrapment into the mold. The bubbles with a radius of 0.1--0.25 mm will move to the zone near the narrow surface and the wide surface. These small bubbles will probably be trapped by the solidification front. Most of the bubbles moving to the narrow surface will flow with the ascending flow, while others will flow with the descending flow.

Bi-directional Selection in Upland Rice Leads to Its Adaptive Differentiation from Lowland Rice in Drought Resistance and Productivity

Drought resistance is required in rice breeding to address the challenge of frequent droughts . However, the evolutionary mechanism of rice drought resistance is not fully understood. We investigated the genetic differentiation between upland and lowland rice domesticated in agro-ecosystems with contrasting water-soil conditions using genome-wide SNPs. We estimated morphological differences among upland and lowland rice in drought resistance and productivity through common garden experiments. Upland rice had better drought resistance but poorer productivity. The negative correlations between traits of drought resistance and productivity are attributed to the underlying genetic trade-offs through tight linkages (e.g., DCA1 and OsCesA7) or pleiotropic effects (e.g., LAX1). The genetic trade-offs are comm on and greatly shape the evolutio n of drought resista nee in upland rice . In genomic regions associated with both productivity and drought resistance, signs of balancing selection were detected in upland rice, while signs of directional selection were detected in lowland rice, potentially contributing to their adaptive differentiation. Signs of balancing selection in upland rice resulted from bi-directional selection during its domestication in drought-prone upland *** genome-wide association analysis, we ide ntified several valuable quantitative trait loci associated with drought resista nee, for which highly differentiated genes should be considered candidates. Bi-directional selection breaking tight linkages by accumulating recombination events would be applicable in breeding water-saving and droughtresistance rice.

Effect of Dietary Phosphorus on the Growth and Body Components of Juvenile Synechogobius hasta

The effect of dietary phosphorus on the growth and body components of juvenile Syechogobius hasta was determined. Different percentages of dietary phosphorus （0.63, 0.77, 0.93, 1.06, 1.22 and 1.36） were tested by feeding the fish （body weight, 15.81 ±：0.32 g; 20 individuals each group; 3 groups each percentage） at a surplus of 5%-10% above satiation for 35d. Dietary phosphorus did not significantly affect the specific growth rate, teed intake, feed conversion ratio and protein efficiency rate. Nitrogen retention was lbund to be the highest in fish fed the diet contatimg 1.06% of phosphorus; however, this was not significantly different from other diets. Fish ted the diet containing 0.93% of phosphorus showed the highest phosphorus retention; similar phosphorus retention rates were found in fish fed the diets containing 0.77% and 1.06% of phosphorus. Fish fed the diet containing the highest percentage of dietary phosphorus were found to contain the least whole body lipid, lower than fish fed other diets （P〈0.05）. The protein content increased from 18.59% to 19.55% （although not significant） with the decrease of body lipid content （P〉0.05）. The contents of the whole body ash, whole body phosphorus and vertebrae phosphorus increased with dietary phosphorus percentage up to 1.06 （P〈0.05）, reaching a plateau after that. Dietary phosphorus did not significantly influence the muscle components （protein, lipid and moisture）. Condition factor and hepatosomatic index were the highest in fish fed the diet containing 0.63% of dietary phosphorus; however, this was not significantly different from those of other diets. The second-order polynomial regression of phosphorus retention against dietary phosphorus identified a breakpoint at 0.88% of dietary phosphorus. However, the dietary requirement of phosphorus for maintaining maximum phosphorus storage determined by broken-line analysis of the contents of whole body phosphorus, and ash and vertebrae phosphorus was 1.06% of the diet
