It has long been asserted that failure to recover from central nervous system diseases is due to the system's intricate structure and the regenerative incapacity of adult *** over recent decades,numerous studies have established that endogenous neurogenesis occurs in the adult central nervous system,including humans'.This has challenged the long-held scientific consensus that the number of adult neurons remains constant,and that new central nervous system neurons cannot be created or ***,we present a comprehensive overview of the alterations and regulatory mechanisms of endogenous neurogenesis following central nervous system injury,and describe novel treatment strategies that to rget endogenous neurogenesis and newborn neurons in the treatment of central nervous system *** nervous system injury frequently results in alterations of endogenous neurogenesis,encompassing the activation,proliferation,ectopic migration,diffe rentiation,and functional integration of endogenous neural stem *** of the unfavorable local microenvironment,most activated neural stem cells diffe rentiate into glial cells rather than ***,the injury-induced endogenous neurogenesis response is inadequate for repairing impaired neural *** have attempted to enhance endogenous neurogenesis using various strategies,including using neurotrophic factors,bioactive materials,and cell reprogramming *** alone or in combination,these therapeutic strategies can promote targeted migration of neural stem cells to an injured area,ensure their survival and diffe rentiation into mature functional neurons,and facilitate their integration into the neural *** can integration re plenish lost neurons after central nervous system injury,by improving the local *** regulating each phase of endogenous neurogenesis,endogenous neural stem cells can be harnessed to promote effective regeneration of newborn ***

Application of system identification in a practical active noise control system

Noise pollution has become increasingly severe around the world due to fast urbanization. How to soundproof windows from outside noise is of significant interest for both academia and industry. This paper reports an experimental implementation of normalized minmax active noise control (ANC) algorithm on an open window system, where identifying the model of acoustic sound paths plays a central role. By doing this, traffic noise is attenuated by the ANC system, leading to a relatively quiet indoor environment, while the natural lighting and ventilation functions of a window are remained. Our experiments show that an average of 19 dB(A) noise reduction is achieved.

Gravity-driven membrane(GDM)systems have been well developed previously;however,impacts of driving(i.e.,transmembrane)pressure on their performance received little attention,which may infuence GDM *** this study,we evaluated 4 GDM systems via altering the transmembrane pressure from 50 mbar to 150 mbar with 2 groups,treating surface water in Beijing,*** showed that less driving pressure was more ***,compared to groups(150 mbar),groups under a pressure of 50 mbar were found to have greater normalized permeability and lower total *** the whole operation period,the quality of effuents was gradually *** example,the removal efficiency of UV254was significantly improved;particularly,under low driving pressure,the removal efficiency of UV254in PES GDM system increased by 11.91%,as compared to the corresponding system under high driving *** observation was consistent with the reduction on disinfection by-products(DBPs)formation potential;groups under 50 mbar achieved better DBPs potential control,indicating the advantages of lower driving *** were analyzed and responsible for these differences,and distinct distributions of bacteria communities of two GDM systems under 50 and 150 mbar may be responsible for various humic-like substances removal ***,GDM systems under less pressure should be considered and expected to provide suggestions on the design of GDM systems in real applications.

Investigation of FRP and SFRC Technologies for Efficient Tunnel Reinforcement Using the Cohesive Zone Model

Amid urbanization and the continuous expansion of transportation networks,the necessity for tunnel construction and maintenance has become *** this need requires the investigation of efficient,economical,and robust tunnel reinforcement *** paper explores fiber reinforced polymer(FRP)and steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC)technologies,which have emerged as viable solutions for enhancing tunnel *** is celebrated for its lightweight and high-strength attributes,effectively augmenting load-bearing capacity and seismic resistance,while SFRC’s notable crack resistance and longevity potentially enhance the performance of tunnel ***,current research predominantly focuses on experimental analysis,lacking comprehensive theoretical *** bridge this gap,the cohesive zone model(CZM),which utilizes cohesive elements to characterize the potential fracture surfaces of concrete/SFRC,the rebar-concrete interface,and the FRP-concrete interface,was employed.A modeling approach was subsequently proposed to construct a tunnel segment model reinforced with either SFRC or ***,the corresponding mixed-mode constitutive models,considering interfacial friction,were integrated into the proposed *** validation and numerical simulations corroborated the accuracy of the proposed ***,this study examined the reinforcement design of tunnel *** a numerical evaluation,the effectiveness of innovative reinforcement schemes,such as substituting concrete with SFRC and externally bonding FRP sheets,was assessed utilizing a case study from the Fuzhou Metro Shield Tunnel Construction Project.

High adsorption selectivity of activated carbon and carbon molecular sieve boosting CO_(2)/N_(2) and CH_(4)/N_(2) separation

Flue gas and coal bed methane are two important sources of greenhouse *** swing adsorption process has a wide range of application in the field of gas separation,and the selection of adsorbent is *** this regard,in order to assess the better adsorbent for separating CO_(2) from flue gas and CH_(4) from coal bed methane,adsorption isotherms of CO_(2),CH_(4) and N_(2) on activated carbon and carbon molecular sieve are measured at 303.15,318.15 and 333.15 K,and up to 250 *** experimental data fit better with Langmuir 2 compared to Langmuir 3 and Langmuir-Freundlich models,and Clausius-Clapeyron equation was used to calculate the isosteric *** the order of the adsorbed amount and the adsorption heat on the two adsorbents are CO_(2)>CH_(4)>N_(2).The adsorption kinetics are calculated by the pseudo-first kinetic model,and the order of adsorption rates on activated carbon is N_(2)-CH_(4)>CO_(2),while on carbon molecular sieve,it is CO_(2)-N_(2)>CH_(4).It is shown that relative molecular mass and adsorption heat are the primary effect on kinetics for activated carbon,while kinetic diameter is the main resistance factor for carbon molecular ***,the adsorption selectivity of CH_(4)/N_(2) and CO_(2)/N_(2) were estimated with the ideal adsorption solution theory,and carbon molecular sieve performed best at 318.15 K for both CO_(2) and CH_(4) *** study suggested that activated carbon is a better choice for separating flue gas and carbon molecular sieve can be a strong candidate for separating coal bed methane.

Background and aim:Keratoconus is a slowly progressive and non-inflammatory disease of eye of unknown etiology characterized by significant structural degeneration,thinning and protrusion of *** cross linking using Riboflavin/ultraviolet A,paraformaldehyde and glutaraldehyde has been widely used to treat keratoconus,but these techniques have several clinical *** study aimed to develop a rapid,safer,less toxic and more effective method to increase the corneal stiffness hence treating keratoconus by using EDC/NHS coupling with pimelic acid(PA)as ***:The viability of corneal epithelial and endothelial cells was examined using Alamar *** corneal collagen and tissue integrity were evaluated with Masson and hematoxylin and eosin stains *** tensile testing was conducted to determine the tissue *** further assessed the effective penetration depth of cross-linking by fluorescence dye and confocal *** assay was performed to detect the damaged DNA fragments in the presence of ***:The effect of PA solution on corneal cross-linking showed a significant increase in corneal rigidity without affecting the epithelium integrity under neutralized pH condition,while DEC/NHS alone did not induce the mechanical *** penetration depth showed consistent results with increased stiffness,which could be affected by the parameters including pH condition,coupling with or without *** addition,PA significantly decreased the percentage of TUNEL-positive cells compared to that of EDC/NHS only *** cytotoxic effect to endothelium was considered minimal and protected in the presence of ***:We demonstrated PA as a potential alternative for cross-linking in the model of whole eye with intact epithelium and its protective role on *** administration of this chemical cross-linker stands as an extremely promising technique for the treatment of corneal keratoconus.

Inferring network structures from available data has attracted much interest in network science;however,in many realistic networks,only some of the nodes are perceptible while others are hidden,making it a challenging *** this work,we develop a method for reconstructing the network with hidden nodes and links,taking account of fast-varying noise and time-delay *** calculating the correlations of available data with different derivative orders for multiple pairs of accessible nodes,analyzing and integrating the relationships between different correlations,and defining diverse hidden-node-related reconstruction motifs,we can effectively identify the hidden nodes and hidden links in the network.

In the realm of subway shield tunnel operations,the impact of tunnel settlement on the operational performance of subway vehicles is a crucial *** study introduces an advanced analytical model to investigate rail geometric deformations caused by settlement within a vehicle-track-tunnel coupled *** model integrates the geometric deformations of the track,attributed to settlement,as track irregularities.A novel“cyclic model”algorithm was employed to enhance computational efficiency without compromising on precision,a claim that was rigorously *** model’s capability extends to analyzing the time-history responses of vehicles traversing settlement-affected *** research primarily focuses on how settlement wavelength,amplitude,and vehicle speed influence operational *** findings indicate that an increase in settlement wavelength can improve vehicle performance,whereas a rise in amplitude can degrade *** study also establishes settlement thresholds,based on vehicle operation comfort and *** insights are pivotal for maintaining and enhancing the safety and efficiency of subway systems,providing a valuable framework for urban infrastructure management and long-term maintenance strategies in metropolitan transit systems.

Eu-MOF-Based Fluorescent Ratiometric Sensor by Detecting 3,4,5-Trihydroxybenzoic for Fingerprint Visualization on Porous Objects

Latent fingerprints(LFPs)at the crime scene are served as important clues to locate the trajectory of criminal behavior and portray the characteristics of the ***,visualizing LFPs is of considerable *** this work,the europium metal-organic framework(Eu-MOF)sensor was successfully constructed for sensitive detection of gallic acid(3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid,GA)and visualization of the sweat *** boric-acid-modified Eu-MOF was prepared by using the simple one-pot solvothermal method using Eu as the metal i ion center and 3,5-dicarboxybenzeneboronic acid(BBDC)as the organic *** sensor showed desirable photoluminescent performance through the chelating of BBDC with Eu3+.The sensor exhibited the satisfactory linear relationship to GA in the range of 1 nM to 20 nM with a low detection limit of 0.34 nM under the optimized *** prepared sensor with ideal selectivity to GA was successfully applied for visualizing LFPs on porous substrates with the high contrast and superior *** the good performance of the sensor,all fingerprint images obtained from 1200 samples presented clear friction ridges and met the identification ***,the sensor had less impact on the subsequent deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)detection,displaying a promising perspective for applications in extracting physical evidence of site investigation.
