Exploring the Spatiotemporal Changes and Driving Forces of Ecosystem Services of Zhejiang Coasts,China,Under Sustainable Development Goals

Ecosystem services(ESs)refer to the continuous provisioning of ecosystem goods and services that benefit human *** recent decades,rapid urbanization has exerted significant pressure on coastal ecosystems,resulting in biodiversity and habitat loss,environmental pollution,and the depletion of natural *** response to these environmental challenges,the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)were *** the pressing need to address these issues,understanding the changes in ESs under the SDGs is crucial for formulating specific ecological *** this study,we first analyzed land use and cover change in the Zhejiang coasts of China during 2000–***,we investigated the spatiotemporal configuration of ESs by integrating carbon storage(CS),soil retention(SR),habitat quality(HQ)and water yield(WY)using the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST)*** driving mechanisms of ESs,which varied by space and time,were also explored using the Geo-detector *** results revealed that,over the past two decades:1)the Zhejiang coasts have experienced a significant increase of 2783.72 km^(2) in built-up land areas and a continuous decrease in farmland areas due to rapid urbanization;2)owing to higher precipitation,extensive vegetation cover,and reduced anthropogenic disturbances,forests emerge as a crucial land use type for maintaining ecosystem services such as HQ,CS,WY,and SR;3)ESs have generally declined across the entire Zhejiang coasts,with a significant decrease observed in the northern areas and an increase in the southern areas spatially;4)the expansion of built-up land areas emerged as the primary factor affecting ecosystem services,while the vegetation factor has been increasingly significant and is expected to become predominant in the near *** study provides insights of understanding of ecosystem service theory and emphasizing the importance of preserving biodiversity for long-term sustainable development

Since the launch in June 2017,Insight-HXMT has been in service smoothly in orbit and particularly productive in 2023 and *** a total number of 238 papers published so far based on Insight-HXMT data,63 were published in 2023,and 32 in the early 2024(till 2024 April),accounting for 40%of the *** studies cover a variety of scientific subjects including the basic properties of black holes and neutron stars,the outburst of accreting black hole and neutron star X-ray binaries,thermal nuclear burst probes,isolated pulsars,quasi periodical oscillations,cyclotron resonant scattering features,fast radio bursts and gamma-ray bursts,*** paper introduces the overall progress with focus on some potential breakthroughs.

Hydrothermal carbonization pretreatment makes a remarkable difference in activation of rice and lettuce in food waste

Cooked rice and the vegetables like lettuce are common kitchen waste,which are carbonaceous materials and have the potential as feedstock for the production of activated *** is similar to hydrothermal treatment(HTC),which might impact the subsequent activation of kitchen *** this study,the HTC of lettuce,rice,or their mixture and the activation of the resulting hydrochars were *** results indicated that cross-polymerization between the N-containing organics from lettuce and the sugar derivatives from rice took place in their co-HTC,which significantly increased the hydrochar *** of the hydrochar from the coHTC generated the AC with a yield of 2 times that from direct activation of mixed lettuce/***,the coHTC facilitated aromatization,reducing reactivity with K2C2O4in activation and producing the AC with main micropores and low specific surface *** of the hydrochar from HTC of rice followed the above trend,while that from lettuce was the *** organics in lettuce were thermally unstable and could not undergo sufficient *** activation of hydrochar from HTC of lettuce thus generated the AC with the lowest yield,but the highest specific surface area(1684.9 m2/g),abundant mesopores,and superior capability for adsorption of ***,the environmental impacts and energy consumption for the production of AC from the hydrochar of lettuce were higher than that from hydrochar of co-HTC.

Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Undular Tidal Bores in the Qiantang River Based on Field Observations

Understanding the undular tidal bores in the Qiantang River is essential for effective river management and *** breaking tidal bores have been studied extensively, reports on undular tidal bores in the Qiantang Riverremain limited. Furthermore, observed data on undular tidal bores fulfilling the requirements of short measurementtime intervals, and spring, medium, and neap tide coverage, and providing detailed data for the global vertical stratificationof flow velocity are quite limited. Based on field observations at Qige in the Qiantang estuary, we analyzedthe characteristics of undular tidal bores. The results showed that the flooding amplitude (a) of the first wave isalways larger than its ebbing amplitude (b). Moreover, the vertical distribution of the maximum flood velocity exhibitesthree shapes, influenced by the tidal range, while that of the maximum ebb velocity exhibites a single shape. Duringthe initial phase of the flood tide in the spring and medium tides, the upper water body experiences multiple oscillatingchanges along the flow direction, corresponding to the alternating process of the crest and trough of the tide levelupon the arrival of the tidal bore. The tidal range is a crucial parameter in tidal bore hydrodynamics. By establishingthe relationship between hydrodynamic parameters and tidal range, other hydrodynamic parameters, such as the tidalbore height, maximum flood depth–averaged velocity, maximum flood stratified velocity at the measurement points,and duration of the flood tide current, can be effectively predicted, thereby providing an important reference for rivermanagement and maintenance.

The intestinal mucus barrier is an important line of defense against gut *** to this barrier brings bacteria into close contact with the epithelium,leading to intestinal ***,its restoration is a promising strategy for alleviating intestinal *** study showed that Abelmoschus manihot polysaccharide(AMP)fortifies the intestinal mucus barrier by increasing mucus production,which plays a crucial role in the AMP-mediated amelioration of ***-10-deficient mouse models demonstrated that the effect of AMP on mucus production is dependent on ***,bacterial depletion and replenishment confirmed that the effects of AMP on IL-10 secretion and mucus production were mediated by Akkermansia *** findings suggest that plant polysaccharides fortify the intestinal mucus barrier by maintaining homeostasis in the gut *** demonstrates that targeting mucus barrier is a promising strategy for treating intestinal inflammation.

Industrial coking facilities are an important emission source for volatile organic compounds(VOCs).This study analyzed the atmospheric VOC characteristics within an industrial coking facility and its surrounding *** concentrations of total VOCs(TVOCs)in the surrounding residential activity areas(R1 and R2),the coking facility(CF)and the control area(CA)were determined to be 138.5,47.8,550.0,and 15.0μg/m^(3),*** cold drum process and coking and quenching areas within the coking facility were identified as the main polluting *** spatial variation in VOCs composition was analyzed,showing that VOCs in the coking facility and surrounding areas were mainly dominated by aromatic compounds such as BTX(benzene,toluene,and xylenes)and naphthalene,with concentrations being negatively correlated with the distance from the coking facility(p<0.01).The sources of VOCs in different functional areas across the monitoring area were analyzed,finding that coking emissions accounted for 73.5%,33.3% and 27.7% of TVOCs in CF,R1 and R2,*** results demonstrated that coking emissions had a significant impact on VOC concentrations in the areas surrounding coking *** study evaluates the spatial variation in exposure to VOCs,providing important information for the influence of VOCs concentration posed by coking facility to surrounding residents and the development of strategies for VOC abatement.

Integrated modelling of vacuum flashover development: Above-surface processes and breakdown threshold analyses

The flashover in vacuum is a rapid interfacial discharge across the insulator surface when subjected to high applied voltage. Here a theoretical model covering above-surface processes is introduced. The model calculates the flashover threshold in vacuum, with revised secondary electron emission avalanche theory and improved desorbed neutral transport model. The model serves as the first part of an integrated flashover model, aiming for consistent treatment of both above-surface and subsurface processes during the entire flashover development. The flashover threshold is obtained by combining the desorbed neutral pressure at given applied voltage and the gas breakdown criterion dictated by the Paschen's law. An analytical formula for threshold estimation containing physical parameters, and a simplified formula consisting of empirical coefficients are introduced, catering for both conceptual understanding and practical application. The derived formulae are validated by experimental data for a variety of insulator materials. The theory generalisation for non-uniform electric field distribution is further discussed.

Mg-Al-hydrotalcite with alkaline sites protects Ni/KIT-6 from formation of amorphous coke in glycerol steam reforming via tailoring reaction intermediates

During steam reforming,the performance of a catalyst and amount/property of coke are closely related to reaction intermediates reaching surface of a ***,modification of reaction intermediates by placing Mg-Al-hydrotalcite above Ni/KIT-6 catalyst in steam reforming of glycerol was conducted at 300 to 600°*** results revealed that the catalytic activity of Ni/KIT-6 in the lower bed was enhanced with either Mg1-Al5-hydrotalcite(containing more acidic sites)or Mg5-Al1-hydrotalcite(containing more alkaline sites)as upper-layer *** in situ infrared characterization of steam reforming demonstrated that Mg-Al-hydrotalcite catalyzed the deoxygenation of glycerol,facilitating the reforming of the partially deoxygenated intermediates over Ni/***-Al-hydrotalcite as protective catalyst,however,did not protect the Ni/KIT-6 from formation of more ***,this did not lead to further deactivation of Ni/KIT-6 while Mg5-Al1-hydrotalcite even substantially enhanced the catalytic stability,even though the coke was much more significant than that in the use of single Ni/KIT-6(52.7%vs.28.6%).The reason beneath this was change of the property of coke from more aliphatic to more ***5-Al1-hydrotalcite catalyzed dehydration of glycerol,producing dominantly reaction intermediates bearing C=C,which formed the catalytic coke of with carbon nanotube as the main form with smooth outer walls as well as higher aromaticity,C/H ratio,crystallinity,crystal carbon size,thermal stability,and resistivity toward oxidation on Ni/KIT-6 in the lower *** comparison,the abundance of acidic sites on Mg1-Al5-hydrotalcite catalyzed the formation of more oxygen-containing species,leading to the formation of carbon nanotubes of rough surface on Ni/KIT-6.

Steam reforming of acetic acid over Ni/biochar of low metal-loading:Involvement of biochar in tailoring reaction intermediates renders superior catalytic performance

Biochar is a reactive carrier as it may be partially gasified with steam in steam reforming,which could influence the formation of reaction intermediates and modify catalytic ***,the Ni/biochar as well as two comparative catalysts,Ni/Al_(2)O_(3) and Ni/SiO_(2),with low nickel loading(2%(mass))was conducted to probe involvement of the varied carriers in the steam *** results indicated that the Ni/biochar performed excellent catalytic activity than Ni/SiO_(2) and Ni/Al_(2)O_(3),as the biochar carrier facilitated quick conversion of the -OH from dissociation of steam to gasify the oxygen-rich carbonaceous intermediates like C=O and C-O-C,resulting in low coverage while high exposure of nickel species for maintaining the superior catalytic *** converse,strong adsorption of aliphatic intermediates over Ni/Al_(2)O_(3) and Ni/SiO_(2) induced serious coking with polymeric coke as the main type(21.5%and 32.1%,respectively),which was significantly higher than that over Ni/biochar(3.9%).The coke over Ni/biochar was mainly aromatic or catalytic type with nanotube morphology and high *** high resistivity of Ni/biochar towards coking was due to the balance between formation of coke and gasification of coke and partially biochar with steam,which created developed mesopores in spent Ni/biochar while the coke blocked pores in Ni/Al_(2)O_(3) and Ni/SiO_(2) catalysts.

Vanadium(V) Complexes Containing Unsymmetrical N-Heterocyclic Carbene Ligands: Highly Efficient Synthesis and Catalytic Behavior towards Ethylene/Propylene Copolymerization

The highly efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of NHC·VOCl_(3) containing symmetrical or unsymmetrical Nheterocyclic carbene(NHC) ligands by the transmetallation reaction of NHC·AgCl with VOCl_(3).The total isolated yield of VOCl_(3)[1,3-(2,4,6-Me_(3)C_(6)H_(2))_(2)(NCH=)_(2)C:](V4') reached 86% by transmetallation reaction,which is much higher than that(48%) by direct coordination *** methodology has also been used to synthesize the novel vanadium complexes containing unsymmetrical NHC ligands of VOCl_(3)[PhCH_(2)NCH=CHNR)C:](V5',R=2,4,6-Me_(3)C_(6)H_(2);V6',R=2,4-Me_(2)-6-Ph-C_(6)H_(2);V7',R=2,6-^(i)Pr_(2)-C_(6)H_(3)) with high yield,which could not be obtained by direct coordination *** catalytic activity and copolymerization ability would be improved by introducing unsymmetrical NHC ligands due to their less steric bulky *** vanadium complex V5' containing unsymmetrical NHC ligand exhibits higher catalytic activity(3.7×10^(5)g_(copolymer)·mol^(-1) of V·h^(-1)) than that of V4' containing symmetrical NHC ***,the higher propylene incorporation ratio(45.6 mol%) in the copolymers of ethylene with propylene could be obtained by using V5' than that(39.9%) by using V4'.The results would provide a highly efficient strategy for the synthesis of early transition metal complexes containing versitile NHC ligands,affording the catalyst with both high catalytic activity and copolymerization ability for the synthesis of high performance polyolefin elastomers.
