Near zero thermal performance loss of Al-Si microcapsules with fibers network embedded Al2O3/AlN shell

Al-Si alloy, a high temperature phase change material, has great potential in thermal management due to its advantages of high heat storage density and thermal conductivity. Microencapsulation of Al-Si alloy is one of the effective techniques to solve high temperature leakage and corrosion. In this paper, com-mercial Al-10Si alloy micro powders were encapsulated with flex.ble ceramic shells whose total thickness is below 1 mu m by hydrothermal treatment and heat treatment in N 2 atmosphere. The compositions and microstructures were characterized by x.D, SEM and TEM. The shell was composed of AlN fibers net-work structure embedded with alpha-Al2O3/AlN which prevented the alloy from leaking and ox.dizing, as well as had ex.ellent thermal stability. The latent heat of microcapsules was 351.8 j.g -1 for absorption and 372.7 j.g -1 for ex.thermic. The microcapsules showed near zero thermal performance loss with latent heat storage (LHS)/ release (LHR) was 353.2/ 403.7 j.g -1 after 30 0 0 cycles. Compared with the published Al-Si alloy microcapsules, both high heat storage density and super thermal cycle stability were achieved, showing promising development prospects in high temperature thermal management. GAS-SOLIDS FLOW BEHAVIOR WITH A GAS VELOCITY CLOSE TO ZERO

In a 9.3 m high and 0.10 m i.d. gas-solids downflow fluidized bed （downer）, the radial and ax.al distributions of the local solids holdups and particle velocities along the downer column were measured with the superficial gas velocity set to zero. A unique gas-solids flow structure was found in the downer system with zero gas velocity, which is completely different from that under conditions with higher gas velocities, in terms of its radial and ax.al flow structures as well as its micro flow structure. The gas-solids flow pattern under zero gas velocity conditions, together with that under low gas velocity conditions, can be considered as a special regime which differs from that under higher gas velocity conditions. According to the hydrodynamic properties of the two regimes, they can be named the ＂dense annulus＂ regime for the flow pattern under zero or low gas velocity conditions and the ＂dense core＂ regime for that under higher gas velocity conditions.

Intronic polyadenylation (IPA) is an RNA 3′ end processing event which has been reported to play important roles in cancer development. However, the comprehensive landscape of IPA events across various cancer types is lacking. Here, we apply IPAFinder to identify and quantify IPA events in 10,383 samples covering all 33 cancer types from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) proj.ct. We identify a total of 21,835 IPA events, almost half of which are ubiquitously ex.ressed. We identify 2761 unique dynamically changed IPA events across cancer types. Furthermore, we observe 8855 non-redundant clinically relevant IPA events, which could potentially be used as prognostic indicators. Our analysis also reveals that dynamic IPA usage within cancer signaling pathways may affect drug response. Finally, we develop a user-friendly data portal, IPACancer Atlas (http://***/Pancan_IPA/), to search and ex.lore IPAs in cancer. © 2024

STUDY ON THE PREDICTIVE METHOD OF BUCKLING DEFORMATIONS OF THIN-PLATE WELDED STRUCTURES

The buckling formation and influence factors during welding thin - plated structures were investigated based on finite element methods, An engineering treatment method for prdicating the buckling distor- tion was proposed in here. It was used the equivalent applied thermal - load to simulate the welding residual stress,therefore the calculation of complex.welding distoriton can be transformed into 3D elas- tic structural applied- load analyses, which can reduce the quantities of calculating works effectively. The validation of the method was verified by comparison of the numerical simulation and ex.erimental results. The simulation of buckling distorition for side - walled structrues of paseenger train was per- formed and the calculation was in agreement with measuring results in general. It was shown that the main factors for producing the buckling were the intermittent fillet and ping the during welding the stiffened beams and columns to the *** ex.stence of the free edge of panels would reduce the crit- ical buckling stress and enlarge the deflection obviously,but the continuous weld in closed frames didn' t degrade the buckling situation.

Transcriptome profiling of indole-3-butyric acid–induced adventitious root formation in softwood cuttings of walnut

Inducing adventitious root (AR) formation in mature walnut species (j.glans L.) is challenging. However, the AR formation of mature trees can be improved by rej.venation. In rej.venated cuttings, ex.genous indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) is essential for AR formation, and the underlying mechanism is still not well understood. Therefore, we utilized transcriptome sequencing to investigate the mechanism of IBA-induced AR formation. Our results revealed that, in comparison to the control group, IBA treatment (9 mmol · L-1) significantly increased the endogenous indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) content, leading to an enhanced rooting rate. We performed RNA sequencing to identify differentially ex.ressed genes (DEGs) between the IBA-treated and control (CK) groups at 1, 2, 3, and 5 days after cutting (DAC). The results showed that, compared to the control cuttings, there were 1 539, 889, 785, and 984 up-regulated genes and 2 791, 2 936, 3 017, and 1 752 down-regulated genes, at 1, 2, 3, and 5 DAC, respectively. Analysis of RNA-seq data revealed that G-type ATP-binding cassette 36/37 (ABCG36/37) and ATP-binding cassette subfamily D 1 (ABCD1), associated with IBA transport, were down-regulated in the rej.venation cuttings. In contrast, PIN-FORMED (PIN) and PINOID (PID), associated with aux.n efflux. were up-regulated. We identified 49 aux.n/indole-3-acetic acid (AUx.IAA)-encoding genes, including IAA1, IAA3, IAA5, IAA6, IAA8, IAA11, IAA12, IAA19, and IAA20, which were up-regulated at 1–5 DAC in the rej.venated cuttings. This study highlights that the overex.ression of j.WOx./11 in poplar significantly enhance AR growth, as evidenced by increased root length, surface area, volume, and quantity. Moreover, the co-ex.ression network analysis involving j.WOx.1 and j.WOx. in walnut cuttings elucidates complex.genetic interactions, underscoring their pivotal role in the formation of AR. The deterioration in fruit quality of commercial tomatoes is a maj.r concern of modern tomato breeding. However, the metabolism and genetics of fruit quality are poorly understood. Here, we performed transgenic and molecular biology ex.eriments to reveal that tomato phytoene synthase 1 (SlPSY1) is responsible for the accumulation of an important flavor chemical, 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one (MHO). To dissect the function of SlPSY1 in regulating fruit quality, we generated and analyzed a dataset encompassing over 2 000 compounds detected by GC–MS and LC-MS/MS along with transcriptomic data. The combined results illustrated that SlPSY1 deficiency imparts novel flavor to yellow tomatoes with 236 volatiles significantly changed and improves fruit firmness, possibly due to accumulation of seven cutins. Further analysis indicated SlPSY1 is essential for carotenoid-derived metabolite biosynthesis by catalyzing prephytoene-PP (PPPP) to 15-cis-phytoene. Notably, we showed that SlPSY1 can influence the metabolic flux.between carotenoid and flavonoid pathways, and this metabolic flux.was confirmed by silencing SlCHS1. Our study provided insights into the multiple effects of SlPSY1 on tomato fruit metabolome and highlights the potential to produce high-quality fruit by rational design of SlPSY1 ex.ression. © 2023 Chinese Society for Horticultural Science (CSHS) and Institute of Vegetables and Flowers (IVF), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS).

The glutamate receptor gene GLR3.3: A bridge of calcium-mediated root development in poplar

Poplar is one of the fastest-growing temperate trees in the world and is widely used in ornamental horticulture for shade. The root is essential for tree growth and development and its utilization potential is huge. Calcium (Ca), as a signaling molecule, is involved in the regulation of plant root development. However, the detailed underlying regulatory mechanism is elusive. In this study, we analyzed the morphological and transcriptomic variations of 84K poplar (Populus alba × P. glandulosa) in response to different calcium concentrations and found that low Ca2+ (1 mmol · L−1) promoted lateral root development, while deficiency (0.1 mmol · L−1 Ca2+) inhibited lateral root development. Co-ex.ression analysis showed that Ca2+ channel glutamate receptors (GLRs) were present in various modules with significance for root development. Two GLR paralogous genes, PagGLR3.3a and PagGLR3.3b, were mainly ex.ressed in roots and up-regulated under Ca2+ deficiency. The CRISPR/Cas9-mediated signal gene (crispr-PagGLR3.3a, PagGLR3.3b) and double gene (crispr-PagGLR3.3ab) mutants presented more and longer lateral roots. Anatomical analysis showed that crispr-PagGLR3.3ab plants had more x.lem cells and promoted the development of secondary vascular tissues. Further transcriptomic analysis suggested that knockout of PagGLR3.3a and PagGLR3.3b led to the up-regulation of several genes related to protein phosphorylation, aux.n efflux. lignin and hemicellulose biosynthesis as well as transcriptional regulation, which might contribute to lateral root growth. Spatio-temporal dynamics of phytohormones in the tomato graft healing process

Graft healing involves a series of cytological and molecular events including wound responses, callus formation and vascular bundle remodelling. Hormones are important signalling molecules regulating plant development and responses to environmental stimuli. However, the detailed dynamics of phytohormones in graft healing remain elusive. In this research, internodes above and below the graft site were harvested from 0 to 168 h after grafting (HAG), and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was used to determinate j.smonic acid, aux.n, cytokinin, ethylene, salicylic acid, abscisic acid and gibberellin levels during the graft healing process. Uniform manifold approx.mation and proj.ction (UMAP) and k-means analyses were performed to ex.lore hormone spatio-temporal dynamics. We found the stage-specific and asymmetric accumulation of phytohormones in the tomato graft healing process. At the early healing stage (before vascular bundle reconnection), IAA, cZ, ABA, j. and SA mainly accumulated above the graft site, while tZ and ACC mainly accumulated below the graft site. MEIAA, ICAld and IP mainly accumulated at the later stage. Comminated with the healing process, we suggested that j. is mainly involved in wound responses, IAA is beneficial to the formation of callus and vascular cell development, tZ promotes cell division, and IP is linked to vascular bundle remodelling. In addition, ex.ression of j.-related genes SlMYC2 and Slj.Z2, IAA-related gene SlIAA1, tZ-related genes SlHP2 and SlRR8, and IP-related gene SlRR9 correlated with hormone accumulation. Polydopamine wrapped polyaniline nanosheets: Synthesis and anticorrosion application for waterborne epox. coatings

Two-dimensional materials have been proved to be effective in improving the performance of anticorrosive coatings. However, most of the reported two-dimensional materials only have the ability to passively block corrosive media and cannot effectively inhibit localized corrosion reactions at the metal/coating interface. Herein, we first synthesized a novel polyaniline (PANI) nanosheet with both barrier and passivation functions for metals. In addition, polydopamine (PDA) wrapped PANI nanosheets (PANI@PDA) were obtained by in situ self-polymerization reaction of dopamine on the PANI surface, which enhance its interfacial interaction with polymeric resin. The chemical structure, morphology and corrosion inhibition properties of the nanosheets were systematically analyzed. The incorporated PANI@PDA nanosheets in composite coating provide a longer penetration path for corrosive mediums. Secondly, the uniformly dispersed two-dimensional nanosheets induce the formation of passivation film on the metal substrate. The protective effect of PANI@PDA nanosheets on coatings was verified by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Results indicated that the prepared composite coating ex.ibited ex.ellent corrosion resistance throughout the test cycle. This simple and effective modification strategy based on conductive polymers provides a new insight into the development of environmentally adaptive composite coatings with active and passive protection.(c) 2023 Published by Elsevier Ltd on behalf of The editorial office of j.urnal of Materials Science & Technology.
