Continuous-flow techniques have promoted the development of synthetic chemistry due to advantages such as outstanding mass/heat transfer,on-demand scalability,improved safety,precise regulation on reaction parameters,etc.Recently,the combination of flow polymerization with computer scienee has gained considerable interests,leading to a variety of cutting-edge synthetic techniques.This review summarizes emerging achievements realized via the integration of computer science and living flow polymerizations,including 1)high-throughput living polymerizations in flow,2)programmable regulations of dispersity profile,se-que nee and topology for polymers,3)modular desig n with on line mon itori ng,as well as 4)self-optimized living polymerizati ons in flow.We expect that this summary will furnish informative kno wledge to scie ntists in related directions and in spire new ideas to further empower on-demand polymer engineering with modern techniques.

The problems of online pricing with offline data,among other similar online decision making with offline data problems,aim at designing and evaluating online pricing policies in presence of a certain amount of existing offline data.To evaluate pricing policies when offline data are available,the decision maker can either position herself at the time point when the offline data are already observed and viewed as deterministic,or at the time point when the offline data are not yet generated and viewed as stochastic.We write a framework to discuss how and why these two different positions are relevant to online policy evaluations,from a worst-case perspective and from a Bayesian perspective.We then use a simple online pricing setting with offline data to illustrate the constructions of optimal policies for these two approaches and discuss their differences,especially whether we can decompose the searching for the optimal policy into independent subproblems and optimize separately,and whether there exists a deterministic optimal policy.

Standing wave drift of hemispherical resonator with quality factor non-uniformity under a ring electrode excitation

Hemispherical Resonator Gyroscope(HRG)is a classical high precision Coriolis Vibration Gyroscope(CVG),which performs attitude estimation of carrier by detecting the precession of standing wave of resonator,thus,the drift of standing wave of resonator has a great influence on the output accuracy of gyroscope,where the quality factor non-uniformity of resonator is one of main error sources.Ring electrode is a classical excitation structure of HRG because the standing wave can precess freely under its excitation,which makes the gyroscope have more accurate scale factor,larger measurement range and better dynamic characteristics.In this paper,the equations of motion of an ideal resonator excited by a ring electrode are derived by the elastic thin shell theory and Lagrange mechanical principle,then the corresponding equivalent mechanical model is established.According to the“average method”,it can be seen that the ideal resonator excited by the ring electrode works in integral mode,and any position in the circumferential direction of resonator can be a working point,which means that the quality factor non-uniformity has a great effect on the drift of standing wave.Therefore,the equations of motion of resonator with quality factor non-uniformity under the ring electrode excitation are deduced by the equivalent mechanical model,and the drift model of standing wave is established by the“average method”,it can be found that both the amplitude of quality factor non-uniformity and angle between the“inherent damping axis”and antinode axis of standing wave can affect the drift rate of standing wave.Moreover,the drift model indicates that if the input angular rate does not reach the threshold,the precession angular rate of standing wave will appear“self-locking”phenomenon,that is,the gyroscope will lose the integral effect.

Overcoming neutrophil-induced immunosuppression in postoperative cancer therapy: Combined sialic acid-modified liposomes with scaffold-based vaccines

Immunotherapy is a promising approach for preventing postoperative tumor recurrence and metastasis. However, inflammatory neutrophils, recruited to the postoperative tumor site, have been shown to exacerbate tumor regeneration and limit the efficacy of cancer vaccines. Consequently, addressing postoperative immunosuppression caused by neutrophils is crucial for improving treatment outcomes. This study presents a combined chemoimmunotherapeutic strategy that employs a biocompatible macroporous scaffold-based cancer vaccine (S-CV) and a sialic acid (SA)-modified, doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded liposomal platform (DOX@SAL). The S-CV contains whole tumor lysates as antigens and imiquimod (R837, Toll-like receptor 7 activator)-loaded PLGA nanoparticles as immune adjuvants for cancer, which enhance dendritic cell activation and cytotoxic T cell proliferation upon localized implantation. When administered intravenously, DOX@SAL specifically targets and delivers drugs to activated neutrophils in vivo, mitigating neutrophil infiltration and suppressing postoperative inflammatory responses. In vivo and vitro experiments have demonstrated that S-CV plus DOX@SAL, a combined chemo-immunotherapeutic strategy, has a remarkable potential to inhibit postoperative local tumor recurrence and distant tumor progression, with minimal systemic toxicity, providing a new concept for postoperative treatment of tumors.

Project management teams are critical in the implementation of megaprojects,but their evolution throughout the project lifecycle has not been clearly explained.This paper explores the organizational evolution of megaproject management teams through a longitudinal retrospective case study of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge(HZMB)project.The organizational evolution is examined in terms of management objectives,management content,and organizational structure.The organizational evolution of the HZMB project management team exhibits stage differentiation with the coexistence of turbulence and stability.Changes in the external environment are the driving force for organizational evolution,whereas a flexible organizational strategy is critical in promoting this evolution.Basing on the HZMB case study,this paper summarizes six critical measures that facilitate the organizational evolution of megaproject management teams.Our findings add value to megaproject management theory and provide a better understanding of the dynamics and complexity of megaproject organizational management.

Neuroma formation after peripheral nerve transection often leads to severe neuropathic pain.Regenerative peripheral nerve interface has been shown to reduce painful neuroma in the clinic.However,no reports have investigated the underlying mechanisms,and no comparative animal studies on regenerative peripheral nerve interface and other means of neuroma prevention have been conducted to date.In this study,we established a rat model of left sciatic nerve transfection,and subsequently interfered with the model using the regenerative peripheral nerve interface or proximal nerve stump implantation inside a fully innervated muscle.Results showed that,compared with rats subjected to nerve stump implantation inside the muscle,rats subjected to regenerative peripheral nerve interface intervention showed greater inhibition of the proliferation of collagenous fibers and irregular regenerated axons,lower expressions of the fibrosis markerα-smooth muscle actin and the inflammatory marker sigma-1 receptor in the proximal nerve stump,lower autophagy behaviors,lower expressions of c-fos and substance P,higher expression of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor in the ipsilateral dorsal root ganglia.These findings suggested that regenerative peripheral nerve interface inhibits peripheral nerve injury-induced neuroma formation and neuropathic pain possibly via the upregulation of the expression of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor in the dorsal root ganglia and reducing neuroinflammation in the nerve stump.

Proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs)are playing irreplaceable roles in the construction of the future sustainable energy system.However,the insufficient performance of platinum(Pt)-based electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)hinders the overall efficiency of PEMFCs.Engineering the surface strain of catalysts is considered an effective way to tune their electronic structures and therefore optimize catalytic behavior.In this paper,insights into strain engineering for improving Pt-based catalysts toward ORR are elaborated in detail.First,recent advances in understanding the strain effects on ORR catalysts are comprehensively discussed.Then,strain engineering methodologies for adjusting Ptbased catalysts are comprehensively discussed.Finally,further information on the various challenges and potential prospects for strain modulation of Pt-based catalysts is provided.

The adaptive transition of glioblastoma stem cells and its implications on treatments

Glioblastoma is the most malignant tumor occurring in the human central nervous system with overall median survival time<14.6 months.Current treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy cannot reach an optimal remission since tumor resistance to therapy remains a challenge.Glioblastoma stem cells are considered to be responsible for tumor resistance in treating glioblastoma.Previous studies reported two subtypes,proneural and mesenchymal,of glioblastoma stem cells manifesting different sensitivity to radiotherapy or chemotherapy.Mesenchymal glioblastoma stem cells,as well as tumor cells generate from which,showed resistance to radiochemotherapies.Besides,two metabolic patterns,glutamine or glucose dependent,of mesenchymal glioblastoma stem cells also manifested different sensitivity to radiochemotherapies.Glutamine dependent mesenchymal glioblastoma stem cells are more sensitive to radiotherapy than glucose-dependent ones.Therefore,the transition between proneural and mesenchymal subtypes,or between glutamine-dependent and glucose-dependent,might lead to tumor resistance to radiochemotherapies.Moreover,neural stem cells were also hypothesized to participate in glioblastoma stem cells mediated tumor resistance to radiochemotherapies.In this review,we summarized the basic characteristics,adaptive transition and implications of glioblastoma stem cells in glioblastoma therapy.

Supervised learning aims to build a function or model that seeks as many mappings as possible between the training data and outputs,where each training data will predict as a label to match its corresponding ground‐truth value.Although supervised learning has achieved great success in many tasks,sufficient data supervision for labels is not accessible in many domains because accurate data labelling is costly and laborious,particularly in medical image analysis.The cost of the dataset with ground‐truth labels is much higher than in other domains.Therefore,it is noteworthy to focus on weakly supervised learning for medical image analysis,as it is more applicable for practical applications.In this re-view,the authors give an overview of the latest process of weakly supervised learning in medical image analysis,including incomplete,inexact,and inaccurate supervision,and introduce the related works on different applications for medical image analysis.Related concepts are illustrated to help readers get an overview ranging from supervised to un-supervised learning within the scope of machine learning.Furthermore,the challenges and future works of weakly supervised learning in medical image analysis are discussed.
