A Comprehensive Analysis of the Thermo-Chemical Properties of Sudanese Biomass for Sustainable Applications

The chemical composition and thermal properties of natural fibers are the most critical variables that determine the overall properties of the fibers and influence their processing and use in different sustainable applications,such as their conversion into bioenergy and *** thermal and mechanical properties can be estimated by evaluating the content of cellulose,lignin,and other extractives in the *** this research work,the chemical composition and thermal properties of three fibers,namely bagasse,kenaf bast fibers,and cotton stalks,were evaluated to assess their potential utilization in producing biocomposites and bioenergy *** chemical composition analysis followed the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry Standards(TAPPI)*** total phenol content was quantified using the Folin-Ciocalteu method,while Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR)was employed to assess the light absorption by the *** evaluate thermal stability and higher heating values,Thermogravimetric Analysis(TGA),Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC),and bomb calorimetry were *** chemical analysis revealed that bagasse contained 50.6%cellulose and 21.6%lignin,kenaf bast fibers had 58.5%cellulose and 10%lignin,and cotton stalks exhibited 40.3%cellulose and 21.3%*** FTIR curves demonstrated a notable similarity among the *** TGA analysis showed degradation temperatures of 321°C for bagasse,354°C for kenaf bast fibers,and 289°C for cotton *** DSC analysis revealed glass transition temperatures of 81°C for bagasse,66.3°C for cotton stalks,and 64.5°C for kenaf bast *** higher heating values were measured as 17.3,16.6 and 17.1 mJ/kg for bagasse,kenaf bast fibers,and cotton stalks,*** three fibers have a high potential for biocomposites and bioenergy material manufacturing.

Cancer remains to be one of the most severe sicknesses *** have kept rising over the *** cancer(BC),which is among the leading types of cancers and predominantly affects women,is the second leading cause of cancer *** have developed interventions over the years;however,the BC survival rate has not improved since the *** has created the need for novel drug interventions that would manage and treat BC more *** study focused on using a combination of natural product extracts such as phytoestrogen(Ziziphus jujube)and Tannin nanoparticles(NP99)together,which we have referred to as(***99)and tamoxifen(Tam)as one of the leading BC drugs since the 70s,in treating *** effectiveness of Tam if used alone in the treatment and if combined with ***99 was evaluated using mCF-7 cells in *** findings showed that the combination treatment of ***99 affected the proliferation and viability of mCF-7 cells more than Tam at a 10μg/mL ***,***99 with Tam stimulated the maximum reduction of mCF-7 proliferation and viability in a time-dependent ***,Tam and ***99 augmented the DNA fragmentation percentage combined with the upregulation of the apoptotic ***,the results showed that the apoptotic impact of ***99 and Tam on mCF-7 cells may be intermediated by down-regulating some genes such as Claudin-1 followed by down-regulating mRNA expression of mmP-9,VEGF,and BCL-2 genes of treated *** Tam with ***99 considerably enhanced the effectiveness of conventional *** a result,this study suggested that the ***99 was ideal for developing effective natural treatments that would improve BC outcomes.

Protective effect of Scrophularia striata combined with trehalose and cysteine added to diluents on cryopreservd goat epididymal sperm

p-Coumaric acid alleviates adriamycin-induced hepatotoxicity in rats

Objective:To evaluate the effect of p-coumaric acid against adriamycin-induced hepatotoxicity in ***:The rats were divided into 4 *** control group received solvent;the p-coumaric acid group was treated with 100 mg/kg of p-coumaric acid orally for five consecutive days;the adriamycin group was administered with a single dose of adriamycin(15 mg/kg,i.p.),and the p-coumaric acid+adriamycin group was given p-coumaric acid five days before adriamycin ***-four hours after the last administration,blood samples were collected for biochemical analysis,and liver tissues were removed for histopathological and immunohistochemistrical ***,the levels of tissue lipid peroxidation and enzyme activities of glutathione peroxidase,superoxide dismutase,and catalase in liver tissue were ***:Treatment with p-coumaric acid protected the liver from the toxicity of adriamycin by attenuating the increase in alkaline phosphatase,alanine transaminase,aspartate transaminase,total bilirubin,total cholesterol,triglyceride,and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and lessening the decrease in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and albumin.p-Coumaric acid also raised the levels of glutathione peroxidase,superoxide dismutase,and catalase,as well as decreased lipid peroxidation in liver tissue and hepatic IL-1β***,histopathological study confirmed the protective effect of p-coumaric acid against liver ***:p-Coumaric acid can alleviate adriamycin-induced hepatotoxicity.

Influence of freeze-only and freezing-thawing cycles on splash erosion

Soil erosion is recognized as one of the most important types of land degradation in the world particularly in many developing countries like Iran. Water erosion is initiated by splash erosion triggered by raindrop impact. Understanding the process of splash erosion under freezing and thawing conditions is essential to unravel soil erosion mechanisms under temperate conditions leading to appropriate planning of soil and water conservation projects. The present study aimed to study the individual effects of freeze-only as well as freezing-thawing cycle on splash erosion in a loess soil from an erosion prone area in mountainous northern regions of Iran. The study was conducted under laboratory conditions using erosion plots. The erosion plots were subjected to freeze only and freeze-thawing treatments by simulating cold conditions using a large cooling compartment system specifically manufactured for this purpose. The splash erosion under a designed simulated rainfall (1.2mmmin-1 for 30 min) was then measured as upward, downward and net splash erosion in splash cups. The results showed that freeze only decreased the upward, downward and net splash erosion by 0.81 ± 0.43, 0.82 ± 0.29 and 0.85 ± 0.23% while freezing-thawing cycle decreased splash erosion to 0.93 ± 0.83, 0.61 ± 0.43 and 0.57 ± 0.36%. This may be attributed to temporary increase in soil strength and stability or surface sealing during freezing process leading to reduced splash erosion.

Study of Aerosol Direct and Indirect Effects and Auto-conversion Processes over the West African monsoon Region Using a Regional Climate model

This study assesses the direct and indirect effects of natural and anthropogenic aerosols （e.g., black carbon and sulfate） over West and Central Africa during the West African monsoon （WAm） period （June-July-August）. We investigate the impacts of aerosols on the amount of cloudiness, the influences on the precipitation efficiency of clouds, and the associated radiative forcing （direct and indirect）. Our study includes the implementation of three new formulations of auto-conversion parameterization [namely, the Beheng （BH）, Tripoli and Cotton （TC） and Liu and Daum （R6） schemes] in RegCm4.4.1, besides the default model＇s auto-conversion scheme （Kessler）. Among the new schemes, BH reduces the precipitation wet bias by more than 50% over West Africa and achieves a bias reduction of around 25% over Central Africa. Results from detailed sensitivity experiments suggest a significant path forward in terms of addressing the long-standing issue of the characteristic wet bias in RegCm. In terms of aerosol-induced radiative forcing, the impact of the various schemes is found to vary considerably （ranging from -5 to -25 W m-2）.

Content syndication has become a popular way for timely delivery of frequently updated information on the Web. Today, web syndication technologies such as RSS or Atom are used in a wide variety of applications spreading from large-scale news broadcasting to medium-scale information sharing in scientific and professional communities. However, they exhibit serious limitations for dealing with information overload in Web 2.0. There is a vital need for efficient real- time filtering methods across feeds, to allow users to effectively follow personally interesting information. We investigate in this paper three indexing techniques for users＇ subscriptions based on inverted lists or on an ordered trie for exact and partial matching. We present analytical models for memory requirements and matching time and we conduct a thorough experimental evaluation to exhibit the impact of critical parameters of realistic web syndication workloads.

A Controller-Based Architecture for Information Centric Network Construction and Topology management

Information-Centric Networking(ICN) has recently emerged as a result of the increased demand to access contents regardless of their location in the network services. This new approach facilitates content distribution as a service of the network with lower delay and higher security in comparison with the current IP network. Applying ICN in current IP infrastructure leads to major complexities. One approach to deploy ICN with less complexity is to integrate ICN with Software Defined Networking(SDN). The SDN controller manages the content distribution, caching, and routing based on the users' requests. In this paper, we extend these context by addressing the ICN topology management problem over the SDN network to achieve an improved user experience as well as network performance. In particular, a centralized controller is designed to construct and manage the ICN overlay. Experimental results indicate that this adopted topology management strategy achieves high performance, in terms of low failure in interest satisfaction and reduced download time compared to a plain ICN.

The effect of time and type of stress moderators on yield and yield components of cotton on conventional and double‑cropping systems under saline conditions

Background:Today,stress moderators are employed to mitigate crop loss due to the adverse effects of environmental *** current research aimed to investigate the impacts of time and stress moderator types on agro-physiological responses of cotton on conventional and double-cropping systems during 2017 and 2018 under saline conditions.A split-plot factorial experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three *** system[conventional(recommended planting date)and double-cropping systems(sowing after harvest of wheat)]were considered as the main plots,and stress moderator type at four levels[water control,2 mmol·L^(-1) Salicylic acid(SA),100 mmol·L^(-1) Glycine betaine(GB),and 100μmol·L^(-1) sodium nitroprusside(SNP)]and application time(flowering and flowering+bolling stages)were regarded as ***:Plant height,reproductive branch number,the number of bolls,10-boll weight,1000-seed weight,biological yield,seed cotton yield,lint yield,chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,carotenoids,total chlorophyll,sodium,potassium,and proline content were less in double-cropping system comparing with conventional *** with the stress moderators alleviated soil salinity effects on yield,yield components,and biochemical traits of *** spraying led to maximum plant height,branch number,the number of bolls per plant,10-boll weight and seed cotton *** spraying yielded the highest 1000-seed weight,biological yield,lint percentage and lint *** highest chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,carotenoids,and total chlorophyll content resulted from SNP ***,yield components,and biochemical traits did not respond to the stress moderator types in double-cropping ***,the highest chlorophyll a,carotenoids,proline content,the number of bolls per plant,and seed cotton yield resulted from SNP spraying in conventional *** statistically significant differences were observed between spraying with SNP and SA in
