Background: Th. emergence of multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and extensively drug- resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) h.s h.gh.igh.ed th. need for early accurate detection and drug susceptibility. Objective: Th. purpose of th. present study was to evaluate th. accuracy of GeneX-pert MTB/RIF assay for th. detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and rifampicin resistance. Meth.dology: Th.s cross sectional study was done in th. Department of Microbiology at Sir Salimullah.Medical College, Dh.ka and National Institute of Ch.st Disease & h.spital (NIDCh., Dh.ka during th. period of January 2014 to December 2014 for a period of 1 (one) year. Sputum samples from suspected MDR-TB patients were collected by purposive sampling tech.ique from OPD of Sir Salimullah.Medical College (SSMC) and NIDCh. Microscopy, liquid culture in liquid MGIT 960 media and GeneXpert MTB/RIF were done for MTB diagnosis and detection of rifampicin resistance. MGIT 960 media were also used for determination of drug resistance. Result: Liquid culture yielded h.gh.r growth.(68%) from 100 samples wh.le GeneXpert MTB assay sh.wed similar result (67% positive and 33% negative). Drug susceptibility test in MGIT 960 media sh.wed th.t out of 68 positive cases Rifampicin resistant cases were 15 (22.05%) wh.reas GeneXpert MTB assay detected 14 (20.89%) were Rifampicin resistant out of 67 MTB positive samples. Wh.n compared to liquid culture th. calculated sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive value (NPV), positive predictive value (PPV) and accuracy of GeneXpert MTB were 98.52%, 100%, 96.96%, 100% and 99%. Conclusion: GeneXpert MTB/RIF assay is h.gh.detection rate of pulmonary tuberculosis and multidrug resistant tuberculosis.

Poor stability and dispersibility,as well as aggregation are considered as major ch.llenges in clinical application of iron oxide nanoparticles(IONPs).Several studies h.ve sh.wn th.t th. synth.sis parameters and post-synth.sis treatments e.g.,drying meth.ds,h.ve th. capability to improve th. particles'***,we investigate th. combined effect of synth.sis and post-treatment parameters on th. particle size,stability and magnetism of ***(Fe_(3)O_(4))NPs were prepared via co-precipitation and post-treated using different meth.ds,i.e.(i)freeze dried at-53℃,0.133 mbar for 48 h.liquid nitrogen frozen(LFD)and freezer frozen(FFD)),(ii)vacuum oven dried(VOD)at 60℃for 24 h.and(iii)kept wet colloidal(WET),dispersed in deionized *** Fe_(3)O_(4)NPs’ch.mical functional groups,size,sh.pe,crystallinity,stability,aggregation,porosity,and magnetic properties were furth.r analysed using different ch.racterisation *** results sh.wed th.t,wh.le th. Background Th. aim of th.s study was to assess th. effect of a 4-week dutasteride treatment on reducing th. intraoperative and postoperative bleeding,as well as th. amount and duration of irrigation required to clear th. urine after transureth.al resection of th. prostate(TURP)≥50 g in men receiving th. antiplatelet drug(APD).Materials and meth.ds Th.s double-blind randomized clinical trial included patients with.a prostate size≥50 g wh. were indicated for TURP and were already receiving *** study was conducted in th. Saint Martin's Island, Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh. during a survey on coral associated fish.s of Bangladesh.from July 2017 to September 2018. Th.se two species were identified with.morph.logical ch.racteristics and by analyzing partial mitoch.ndrial COI sequences. Th. document also included an updated ch.cklist of snappers available in Bangladesh.

Inactivation of infectious bursal disease virus by binary eth.lenimine and formalin

In th.s experiment conducted to study th. inactivation dynamics of infectious bursal disease virus （IBDV） by binary eth.lenimine （BEI） in comparison with.formalin, IBDV was isolated from th. bursa of infected ch.ckens and its confirmation was done by agar gel precipitation test. Viral suspensions were subjected to inactivation with.BEI and formalin for pre-set time in- tervals. BEI was employed at concentrations of 0.001 and 0.002 mol/L wh.le formalin was used at 0.1% and 0.2%. Sampling was done at 6, 12, 24, 36 and 48 h.of incubation and samples were tested for th.ir inactivation status in 9-day-old embryonated eggs and 3-week-old broiler ch.ckens. IBDV was completely inactivated by 0.001 and 0.002 mol/L BEI after 36 h.of incubation at 37℃, wh.reas formalin at 0. 1% and 0.2% concentrations inactivated IBDV in 24 h.

Anodic Stripping Voltammetric Determination of Nitrite Using Carbon Paste Electrode Modified with.Ch.tosan

A simple meth.d for anodic stripping voltammetric determination of nitrite using carbon paste electrode modified with.biomolecular ch.tosan, is described. In th.s meth.d, th. electrode is activated electroch.mically by scanning 5 replicates over th. potential range from +500 to +1400 mV immersing in 0.5 M h.l solution. Following th.s step, th. nitrite sample containing 0.1 M KCl is preconcentrated on th. activated electrode at +500 mV for 30 s. Th. deposited anions are th.n oxidized by different modes of sweep in th. oxidation direction. Ch.mical and electrical parameters affecting th. voltammetric measurements are optimized. Th. peak current is linear proportional to th. NO2- concentration with.n th. range 0.41 - 4.1 μg/ml, with.detection limit 0.187 μg/m using differential pulse mode. Th. relative standard deviation is 0.285% for 2.46 μg/ml (five replicates). No interference is observed due to oxygen dissolved in th. sample so th.t nitrogen purging is not needed in th.s case. Th. result obtained by th. modified electrode is more accurate and selective th.n th. unmodified electrode.

In th.s paper, we briefly recall some useful results on decomposition of RKh.. Based on orth.gonal polynomial th.ory and Mercer th.orem, we construct th. h.gh.power Legendre polynomial kernel on th. cube [-1,1]d. Following presentation of th. th.oretical background of SVM, we evaluate th. performance of th.s kernel on some illustrative examples in comparison with.Rbf, linear and polynomial kernels.

Th.s work is part of a multi-ph.se project wh.ch.aims to develop a sound meth.dology for rock fragmen-tation in underground mines using expansive *** specifically,it is th. first ph.se of th. project wh.ch.focuses on laboratory tests to investigate th. mech.nical performance of expansive cement,also known as soundless ch.mical demolition agents(SCDA).Th.s paper reports th. results of laboratory tests conducted on instrumented th.ck-walled cylinders filled with.expansive *** pressure evo-lution and temperature variation with.time are first examined for different boreh.le *** clas-sical analytical meth.d for expansive pressure estimation is validated with.direct pressure measurement using h.gh.capacity pressure sensor,and an empirical model is obtained.A new meth.dology based on iterative procedure is developed using axisymmetric finite element modelling and test results to derive th. modulus of elasticity of th. expansive cement at peak *** results of th.s study sh.w th.t th. expansive pressure increases with.boreh.le diameter wh.n th. rigidity of th. steel cylinder is constant reach.ng 83 MPa for a 38.1 mm *** is also sh.wn th.t th. expansive pressure decreases signif-icantly with.increased cylinder rigidity for th. same boreh.le *** newly developed meth.dol-ogy revealed th.t th. modulus of elasticity of expansive cement at peak pressure is estimated at 8.2 GPa.A discussion on th. extension of th. findings of th.s work to h.rd rock mining applications is presented.
