Surveying of Pesticides Commonly on the Markets of Iran in 2009

Considering the potential pesticide side effects on environment, their short and long term untoward effects on living creatures, their excessive usage for producing more agricultural products, and also their application to destroy pests of any sort, the present study was carried out to investigate the used amount of common pesticides in Iran markets. A questionnaire was designed. Referring to pesticide selling shops and plants preservations organizations in Tehran and Isfahan, the sufficient data was collected and then categorized regarding the applications and the total amount of used pesticides in a year. The results demonstrated that there were 60 sorts of used pesticides in Iran. They included Organochlorine (10%), Organophosphorus (28.4%), Pyrethroids derivatives (10%), Carbamate derivatives (10%), and others (41.6%). The commonest pesticide used in a year was Organophosphorus and the least one was Organochlorine. The obtained data pointed out that the most common pesticide was Organophosphorus. Given that Organophosphorine compounds are poisonous in living creatures and cause short and long term side effects. It is recommended that responsible authorities provide the necessary information for the aimed groups in terms of the allowable using amount of pesticides, the protection strategies and the pesticides hazards on users.

Objective:To evaluate the prevalence of West Nile virus seropositivity in the general population of *** of ***:One hundred and eighty two individuals living in the city of Mashhad were studied using cluster sampling *** IgM and IgG antibodies against WNV were detected by ELISA ***:In this study,the overall IgG seroprevalence of positive West Nile virus was 11%;*** antibody was not found in the ***:Our study suggested that the prevalence rate of West virus is considerable in Mashhad *** seems necessary for clinicians and health care workers to be aware of WNV infection in the Northeast Iran.

Psychological problems as the major cause of fatigue in clients undergoing hemodialysis: A qualitative study

Background:It is obvious that hemodialysis is a stressful process,leading to numerous social and psychological problems,and may cause fatigue and ***:This study aimed to explain the experiences of hemodialysis clients regarding the effect of psychological problems on ***:This article was extracted from a qualitative study conducted on clients undergoing hemodialysis in *** this end,a total of 15 participants were purposefully selected using the snowball sampling method and the required data was collected using individual,face to face,detailed and semi-structured *** were 12 client interviewees and one doctor,one nurse and one hemodialysis client's *** analysis was used to analyze the ***:Continuous analysis of data and documents obtained from the interviews on the hemodialysis clients'experiences and comments regarding the main causes of fatigue revealed two main categories:1)Psychological effects with subcategories of psychological stress and exhaustion;2)Needs and constraints with subcategories of individual and social needs and ***:According to the clients'speech and expression analysis,psychological impacts and disease-induced needs and constraints were the most important cause of fatigue and its continuation among these clients.

BACKGROUND： Recurrent pregnancy loss （RPL） is a heterogeneous condition and thrombophilias have been considered as a probable cause. OBJECTIVE： The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of the coagulation factor XIII Va134Leu polymorphism among women with unexplained RPL. METHODS： A total of 140 women with a history of unexplained RPL and 100 age-matched healthy fertile women were recruited. The presence of FXIII Va134Leu polymorphism among the cases and controls was investigated using PCR-RFLP method. RESULTS： Genotype analyses of the subjects revealed that the patients had a significantly higher prevalence of V/L and L/L than the controls （P〈 0.05）： 33.5% vs. 15%, and 9.2% vs. 2%, respectively. CONCLUSION： These results indicate a significant association between FXIII Va134Leu polymorphism and unexplained RPL in the Iranian patient.
